Ordered their 8oz steak as it was on a special deal since it was Monday. There was about 2 other tables at the venue, regardless of that it took a while to get our food. Mind you that was long enough for me and my boyfriend to count the flies around us( and there were a lot). Dinks weren’t great either as their “cola” is neither Pepsi nor Coke. Everything lacked seasoning, but somehow still gave me mild food poisoning. Save your money, go elsewhere.

Coffee was a bit insipid, table was a bit sticky, loos tbh were pretty grotty. Hubby liked his food, though (one of the egg dishes).

Food was OK. Seemed to have a fly infestation, so eating wasn't as nice as constantly bothered by flies in November. Food was OK, nothing special, but OK. Quiet when we visited.

There’s flies everywhere - the staff couldn’t care less my food was sat under the heat lamps for about 15 mins before they took it over Poached egg was like a hard boiled egg and looks like it’s been regurgitated and spat out on my plate

Gluten free menu only really confirms that there are no croutons on the salad, and you can only choose from 3 main courses. Food was dried out (hence chewy) and we had to remind them we had waited 30 mins, even though place was fairly empty. Then I think they realised the food had been waiting under hot lamps to be served. Not much salad on the Caesar salad, but lots of dry meat.

We came for lunch and we waited just over an hour for food when it wasn’t even that busy. My chips came cold and so greasy. Very disappointed to be honest. Also flys everywhere if you look up. 🤢

The food was very average, the cocktails are left alot to be desired, however the service and location carried the experience for me as a good pre drink location for a night out in town.

Team lunch so needed a big space. But food was uninspiring and only average quality. The exception was the calamari. Expensive drinks to boot. But staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.

Friendly service but the food was really only just about passable. I had the avocado on toast, it looked and tasted like something a hungover university student might make.

Terrible food. Ordered smashed avocado and eggs. Avocado was a thin layer of mulch with no taste and eggs were overcooked to the extreme. Coffee was like warm.

Came in for a quick drink before heading to the theatre, service was very quick as it was early & nobody else in there. Music was good but a bit to loud couldn't sit & chat. Been before when more busy & it's a great atmosphere although service is very slow when people are ordering food

Absolutely horrific. The chefs should be ashamed of themselves. The burger was like charcoal, the chips like cardboard and the bread like rock.

1 hour into our lunch they came out to clean up another table that had been vandalised several times by the seagulls. Food is average. Calamari way too cooked. Nachos with hard cheese. Mezze, nothing remarkable. Beer was OK. Would not go back for more.

Terrible food - we had two Cajun chicken ciabattas which were incredibly dry and with cold peppers inside. The salad leaves on the side were either out of date or had been sat all day unrefrigerated - limp and brown. We also had one serving of nachos - think they wanted to use the salsa up as the dish was swimming in it. The guacamole consisted of whole slices of avocado and not a lot else - extremely bland. At no point did anyone come and ask if all was ok and we didn’t even get the chance to ask for salt and sauces! If you go there - beware of the broken glass. We sat outside and it was absolutely everywhere 😡

Lukewarm coffees. Half hour for lukewarm burgers to come. Cold chips…..COLD….fresh from the kitchen. Surely this is a basic to get right. Oh and STICKY tables, grumpy staff. Don’t bother. Over priced and not worth walking through the door.

The food was cold and not tasty Everything was not good. Nothing was clean including the tables and the plates.this place deserves to be shut down. The staff and the owner is nasty no wonder the staff leaves.

Absolutely amazing service and gorgeous drinks and food! So impressed, considering a busy Saturday night and the service was so quick and exceptional. A special shout-out to Kacpev, Alex and Rasharn for catering to us so well and keeping up the good vibes and conversation, made the night a great success! Five stars all round will be coming back!

Poor quality! Ordered a breakfast, supposed to be 3 rashes of bacon only one arrived. Asked for some more and the waitress said it’s only supposed to be two when the menu clearly states three! I finished my food and was still sat waiting for the bacon that should’ve been on my plate. Kids beans on toast was dry and poor! Hash browns under cooked, chips were rock solid! Even when ordering no one came to help but just stood around looking at us! To then be told we wouldn’t have what we wanted on the menu. Tables were sticky, no wonder there was so many flies. Wish I had read the reviews before entering this place! Will not be returning!

Went for a breakfast after a big night out and was thoroughly underwhelmed by the food. Service was not terrible but the breakfast butty was about as dry as pile of sand. No butter, quite literally two pieces of stale, rock hard toast and a few pieces of bacon. When offered sauce, we were presented with two tiny pots of ketchup that you would usually get with fast food to dip fries in. How on earth do we dip a whole sandwich in that? The only saving grace was that the bacon was well cooked and I left the toast alone. We also had two Americano coffees which were possibly the weakest and flavourless coffee I’ve ever had the disappointment of consuming. Please up your game as the staff are lovely and the location is world class.

I loved the place, had few drinks and tapas. Food is great, bartenders are nice. Not that expensive comparing to other places. Will come again.

Do not bother. On a "not busy" day told that they were not taking orders for 30 minutes due to a backlog. There was close to nobody there yet they were "over" tasked. A joke. Can't rate food cause we left.

Well we ordered two chargrilled chicken breast's which took FOREVER and were totally black and couldn't cut through on one side. Then the fries were waiting under a heat lamp for the chicken to he done when some staff member comes along and grabs them with his bare hand to put them into a secondary " cup, for display" Yuck! I saw him and yelled, oye! Just leave them on the plate. ( where's his hands been??? I think I know!!) Then the cook comes with a completely overdue bag of sad salad greens and again dips his bare hand into the bag for our allotted share !! Super Yuck! No we didn't eat any of that! £33.00 No sorry .Give this place a swerve!! HORRID sauce on top of the burnt chicken too!!!

The only thing that is good about this place is the location good Riverview the food was awful. Pizza is not worth it at all. The fish and chips were very wet and not good.

It wasn’t even that busy but our drinks (tea, espresso & juice) took 20-30mins to arrive. You have to order and pay up front on the app, which is criminal, because you can’t even give up and just leave. You’d have to ask for a refund… and Christ knows how long that would take. The tables were sticky, and it wasn’t overly clean. So glad we didn’t order food. We should have just left.

Popped in for lunch and what a mistake that was. First I was overcharged. Then there was a long wait - sat at a sticky, dirty table - for my sandwich. During that time I noticed the waitress who was dressed very scruffy, with dirty hair, sat at a table on her phone, instead of waiting tables. I then saw the cook eat food off the plates as she put the plates on the counter for service. When she put my order out, she did the same - which grossed me out. Then the scruffy waitress was kind enough to get up to serve it. The food was greasy, salty, overcooked, reheated and disgusting. I tried a tiny bit of everything, but it was truly revolting and literally inedible, so I left. I was offered a refund as they saw me walk out, which suggests this happens often.

I love the food and staff are brilliant but you get 1 star for the lack of accessibility. I am a wheelchair user and love your breakfasts, please make your venue accessible by purchasing a ramp. You are required under the Equalities Act 2010 to provide reasonable adjustments to enable disabled people to access your venue, a ramp is a reasonable and low cost adjustment.

Great pub on the harbour, no frills, clean and a great location. Staff are friendly with a decent selection of drinks.

Dont bother coming here, go to spoons. Cheaper, quicker and better. Walked in place looked rough but overlooked it. I tried ordering through their qr code which didn't want to work so I went up to the bar and ordered. I'm on walking aid and wasn't helped bringing my drinks to the table outside. Waited 20 mins for our food, which was a bit stupid considering there was only 2 other tables in the venue at the time. Food came and found a blonde hair in my chips, waited another 15-20 mins. Burgers were okay but definitely could been better and the sweet potato chips were nice. The cokes were definitely watered down aswell. Paid nearly 40 quid for mediocre service and food. Shame since it seemed promising.

The response to an earlier negative review was "we are always trying to improve our standards" but it doesn't seem like much has been done so far. I visited yesterday and ordered a "chargrilled chicken burger". I was surprised at how quickly it arrived, but soon understood why as I'm fairly sure that the chicken had been cooked well in advance and then reheated (a bit -- it was lukewarm). If it had seen a chargrill at any time, then I'm the Queen of Sheba. It was also overcooked, while the bacon was just the opposite -- it had barely seen enough heat to be cooked through. The cheese didn't taste of anything, the lettuce in the burger had gone brown. The chips were soggy and undercooked. But on the plus side, the salad on the plate did at least seem to be fresh. The whole thing was bland, and really just unpleasant to eat: it reminded me of the school meals I was subjected to, many years ago -- not a favourable comparison. I left about half of it uneaten and spent the rest of the afternoon feeling faintly nauseated, as well as annoyed at having paid £14 for such a rotten meal. How hard can it be to cook a decent chicken burger and chips? I gave two stars because the staff were at least friendly and efficient, even if I did have to go to the bar to ask for the drink I'd ordered. Suffice to say, I won't be visiting again.

Nice looking place, great location but by far the worst service I've ever experienced. Ordered two meals for me and my wife, first meal arrived after a 25 minute wait along with the knife and fork for mine. 40 minutes later I'm still waiting for my meal to arrive. Asked one of the assistants where the food was? After a bit of discussion with the kitchen staff he came back and said the meal would be with me shortly and carried on dealing with other things. After an hour I pretty much accepted that the meal wasn't going to arrive and requested a full refund which was given. Seriously disappointed!

Go somewhere else. Arrived around 10am for breakfast after walking past and on the look out for a place to go. There were maybe 3/4 other small groups in there already. You have to download an app to order and pay up front for everything. I should have known when I sat down and the table was sticky to touch, to leave immediately, but we didn’t. We ordered via the app and it says they expect to serve you within 15 minutes but will be longer in busy periods. We waited around 25/30 minutes. It wasn’t busy. And I don’t mind waiting for food if when it arrives it’s good… We both ordered Egg Royale which the menu states is served on a toasted breakfast muffin - it was actually served on half a stale ciabatta which was barely toasted to hide the staleness. No one came over to tell us they were out of muffins. My friends eggs were overcooked and sauce was cold. My eggs and extra egg were runny but the extra egg was dumped on the side of the plate. Why not put it on the stale ciabatta with the other eggs?! Orange juice and pot of herbal tea was brought out fairly quickly but we had to ask for the mug of tea (ordered with the eggs as an add on) after we’d been served breakfast. No one checked on us if the food was ok. No one greeted us as we arrived and left. But friendly when we were served. Egg Royal + mug of tea = £9.95 Egg Royal + extra poached egg = £9.80 Orange juice = £2.50 Pot of herbal tea = £4.10 Total = £26.35 Go somewhere else.

For a drink ok but don’t eat here, we ordered tapas, it took nearly an hr to come and it was definitely not worth the wait it was dreadful.

Waited over an hour only to find that half of the table's orders had been lost and therefore would not be coming. Most dishes that were served had several missing ingredients.

Really good food and high quality service

Probably the worst place I’ve eaten in Bristol. The food took ages to come out, despite the restaurant being quiet and tasted plain and boring despite looking well seasoned. On top of this they seem to only be able to make chips LOOK cooked, yet keep them perfectly raw on the inside. My partner asked for new chips and they returned with chips that looked very well cooked…but were even rawer than the first lot! This place is laughably bad. Whatever you do, avoid it, unless you want just a burger according to my partner.

Even though it wasn't that busy, we waited 20 minutes for our drinks which was a bad omen. We ordered tapas on the QR code and paid in advance (bad move). When our food came out 1 hour later we found the grilled halloumi was burnt and the chorizo wasn't cooked enough. On a more positive note the calamari and whitebait were good and the olives and dips tasted great. The service was poor generally and one waiter looked like he didn't want to be there. Overall really disappointed

Do not order food at this place. I got a really burnt burger..coal grade. Returned it. The second one was ok. Tables were sticky we only went there because everywhere else was busy. It is obvious now why there were spaces.

Big breakfast and a tea ordered on app, sat outside, 10K race day. There is no option to remove items from menu, Tea was delivered in a takeaway paper cup and milk was off. Tea was replaced when breakfast arrived. Breakfast had tomato missing but no explanation. Black pudding was 2 solid dried out disks. Eggs and mushrooms swimming in oil. Toast, bacon and beans were nice. Sausages average.

Waited 15 minutes for drinks ordered via the app which we ended up having to collect from the bar ourselves. Food order was quick enough but 5 random slices of halloumi on a board does not constitute tapas and soggy yet burned fries isn't really good enough especially when coupled with incredibly loud and bad music which only came on as we were ordering and became progressively louder through our meal to the point we were shouting by the end. The garlic bread was also cold and the cola tasted like soda with a hint of syrup.

Went for breakfast around 9:45. Cafe opens at 9 according to website. Arrived and told kitchen would be open in 10 mins. Fine. Ordered a veggie breakfast and savory croissant. Took over 40 minutes. Only 2 other customers. Just really really slow. Staff friendly enough but just no urgency about any of them

The 1 star is purely for the polite waiter who served us. The food is probably the worst food I’ve eaten out. We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 burgers. 1 of the burgers was literally coal so we asked for another, only for the second one to still be burnt…. The pizzas were similar to the dr oetker pizza you get in supermarkets but they claimed to be ‘sourdough’. We said sourNO. Definitely wouldn’t recommend the food but maybe it’s still nice if you just want a drink and sit by the harbour. I just hope they can improve on their kitchen as it’s really a disappointment since it’s in such a nice location.

We only stopped in for coffee and to rest on the comfy couches they have at the back. It actually really helped us out and we felt refreshed again once we left! We liked the music they were playing

I recommend Pimm's which is excellent. Sitting on the edge of the canal, we had a great time.

Honestly, the worst place i have ever eaten at. Service was awful, 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Questioning if anyone actually cares in the business? staff was quite easy to blame each other aswell. Would like to contact someone in charge a bit more about my experience, If there is anyone 😂. I'm not under the impression that the place is even managed after my experience today.

Dreadful experience! Ordered Mac and Cheese... no Mac and Cheese. Ordered pizzas, came under-cooked and cold. Pizza advertised as coming with rocket... no rocket. An hour after arriving... still no food! Ended up leaving hungry!

I am quite an easy client, but yesterday I had a really bad experience. The two young girls that took our order and attended our table were completely uniterested in their job, and were borderline rude to us. No manners or communication skills, unfortunately. I did not say anything as I appreciated they were young. The table was dirty and sticky, and when we asked for someone to kindly wipe our table, we had this girl coming with a very long face and literally wiped the table 3 seconds and left, which only mixed the grease and dirt then spread it all over the table. The plates were placed on our table without the waitress having checked with us who was having what. So we had to swap our plates, and the girl attending to us did not have any reaction when realising she did a mistake and she just left. WOW! And the food was not enjoyable either. The steak that was meant to be medium rare came as RARE, and the well done steak was nearly carbonised and all dry. The chips were dark brown and did not taste nice, and our so called "salad" was slices of cabbage thrown on a side of the plate. I am very sorry, but your staff could do with some more training. I don't think I have seen anybody smiling, and I have felt unwelcomed. Plus the way they are dressed, in their own clothes, they did not look presentable at all, girls showing their belly, and just looking sloppy and not very tidy, not to mention the really poor attitude. We paid lots of money for a rump steak that we could not eat, we left most of the food on the plate. And another thing, I have used the toilet before leaving and I have noticed that next to the toilet there was a sanitary bin, as it should be, BUT on top of the sanitary bin there were 2 huge toilet rolls. That is not hygienic at all, and it just really made me question how things are being done in there. Usually, if I don't like a place I just don't return and I don't bother with reviews, but this needed a review. Sorry about that, and needles to say, but I am never returning.

THESE GUYS ARE REAL ONES! We came to have breakfast at Makenzies - however we didn't end up getting that far, because our mate decided to have an epileptic fit and throw himself at the cobbles forehead first. Blood everywhere, everyone was wigging out and we're trying to hold this fellas skull together - HOWEVER - the staff were so kind, made us cups of tea, gave us bandages, let us clean ourselves up in the loo and were all around heroes! Also, whilst wading through rivers of my friend's blood, I did notice that the steak sandwich looked to DIE for... which is just as well, because our mate was trying his best to do exactly that! Massive thanks again to the awesome team, we will come back and visit again soon, as soon as the trauma has worn off 😀

HUGE HUGE thank you to all the staff working here on the 30th of April. My friend had a horrible accident right as we were about to order and the staff couldn't have been more wonderful- a real credit to the business. Absolute heroes. After they'd finished helping my friend into the ambulance they looked after us so well - checking on us, bringing cups of tea and helping us clean up. You're all angels and I can't thank you enough for making a horrific experience easier to cope with. I've eaten here before and the food was wonderful - we'll definitely be back to get the lunch we missed out on! 💖💖

Food is truly terrible. Chips were wet paper (pre-cooked and frozen and then warmed up in microwave oven). Pizza probably bought in nearby Tesco express.

The food was awful. It seems like they don't have a cook but simply warm up frozen pre-cooked meals in a microwave. Last night, we had dinner at Three Brothers Burgers, which was infinitely better. Mackenzie's place sucks.

The tables are all sticky and barely sanitised between customers, the staff clearly don’t want to be here and the overall experience was very poor.

Went in for a late breakfast, between the 3 of us we had the veggie breakfast, the big breakfast and the salmon and poached eggs on ciabatta. We all really enjoyed our food, and the big breakfast looked supreme. It's hard to find a good cooked breakfast ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have only went for drinks but the food menu looks AMAZING. the customer service is so great and everyone so kind and are happy to inform you on confusions with the menu. The offers they do are AMAZING. specially during happy hour. 2 for 1 cocktails from 5-8pm every night is honestly the best discount I've ever seen. Most places I've been to do 2 for £12 cocktails. 2 for 1 (which is abour 2 for £9.75) IS AMAZING. I wish I lived In Bristol cause id go to this place so much.

Good way too expensive for low quality, drinks arrived 10 minutes after food, food arrived without all items and was standing for 5 minutes before they picked it up and brought jt (I could see it!) Think they seriously need to invest in a customer service manager!

I came in for a steak and ordered through the app. Within 5 minutes I was informed they weren't doing anymore food. The staff managed to sort out a refund however the way the information was delivered was not to standard and the inconvenience caused me to look elsewhere. Bar staff great, manager and service very poor. Including the fact the managing was aggressively swearing about food and other matters only 5 metres away.

The place was almost empty on mother's day at 11.30 when the 4 of us arrived for brunch. We ordered form our phones and then had to wait almost one hour (50 minutes to be precise). The waiting staff there at the time didn't seem to care or have a clue of what was going on .... The food is well below average, borderline disgusting 😑. So huge disappointment and will not go there ever again...

I went in for a late lunch , you walk it wasn't busy ,staff seemed bothered that you're a customer ordered food and wine . Glass' was dirty and when I requested for I clean glass ,seemed as if it was credit I was asking for . Chef was busy chatting to his mate for 25 minutes and when the food came . Steak was over cooked . Chips soggy and over cooked . Garnish was rotten . I like the Mackenzies but service seemed to have gone down hill .

Last lunch in Bristol before leaving... the toast with eggs, meat, beans was delicious... really delicious, the very kind waiter immediately understood that I was Italian and helped me with the choice... I really recommend it to everyone!

I was visiting Bristol and decided to stop at this restaurant for lunch. I loved the treatment, very friendly and attentive but I must highlight the good atmosphere there was. The food quality price, highly recommended if you go to Bristol!!!

I had a big event I was hosting at zaza bazaar of 80 people and zaza gave us grief from the moment we arrived. I went to mackenzies and told them the situation I'm in and they gave us a space to finish the night so after we got here it was perfect. The staff and the atmosphere here are lovely couldn't recommend this place enough if I could give it more than 5 stars I would 🙌

Honestly not great at all. The atmosphere is awful and the place is cold and sticky. The music was way too loud and a total vibe killer. The food took ages to come and the service was a bit haphazard. Not to mention that they didn't have multiple parts of our order but we only found out once we had ordered. Expensive for the quality too. The chefs seemed extremely stressed - it doesn't seem like the staff are treated well.

The wait time for food was hilariously long, almost 40 mins for starters and drinks, we ended up getting the drinks from the bar ourselves.The food was not fresh. Mac n cheese was dry, fries looked stale. The chicken was dry. The drink glass was dirty and had fresh lipstick stains on from previous customers. When went to replace it, the servers didn't look happy, tasted like water mixed with coffee instead of a martini. No sense of health and hygiene. Absolute waste of our money. Sadly not returning here again.

Waited 50 mins for two simple meals. Wasn’t warned that there would be a delay, and it seems it’s common practice. Food was dreadful. Brown lettuce in the salad. At one point a very rude Italian waiter was stomping around looking for a table and swore really loudly in Italian.
