Great pub watch the rugby there

Nice friendly bar staff but the pub has gone down hill since I last visited.bad damp problem in the ladies toilets the pub just needs a little TLC

Good pub good prices nice atmosphere and people. There are not two many drinking pubs left, they are almost all foody, wine, front room types of inns. But this is a good drinking pub. Only down side is the looes are a little smelly and messy.

Not expensive alcohol and brilliant Ska nights which you can dance all night

Certainly is a good place. Although, only came in for a drink. Very hot inside, better with a bit of air con.

What can I say. Not only the best pub I've been to in Bristol, but probably in my top 10. Decent range of beer at a price you'd expect 10 years ago, quality locals, and the landlady is mint. Sports on the telly, great banter, a range of entertainment and a proper local for local people vibe. Not a food gaff, but the beef and horseradish rolls behind the bar are a meal in themselves. If you like a spit and sawdust/does what it says on the tin kind of place, this is for you. If you prefer a more upmarket hipster experience where you pay £5 for a pint and sit on uncomfortable picnic furniture inside then there's a ton of alternatives locally. If you fancy a well priced decent pint and great atmosphere, with an Aldi and bus stop within 30 seconds walking distance (maybe a couple of minutes after a couple of pints) then this is the place for you.

I've never been in a pub in Bristol where I felt so unwelcome. Waited at the bar for 20 minutes and was told I was at the back of the queue because I didn't sound like a local. Holding pen for Jeremy Kyle show antagonists.

Not as friendly as we remember, only been maybe half a dozen times and certainly not as welcoming as before.

amazing pub even though food isn't normally available (just is due to current circumstance) best for all your sporting needs and the staff are fantastic i will go as far to say it is the best in the area even better then the wackham!!

The fire engine is a great place to go friendly people and a great landlady and always a service with a smile from all the bar staff.

We tried to eat here on a Friday night but the place was full. More drinking than eating. Enter at far left door (somewhat hard to find). Visited 15 November 2019.

After walking 3miles told dogs aren't allowed in when one dog was in the pub and two outside ? Web site says pet friendly maybe next time should take the horse in 😂

This pub is lovely can get very busy but a nice feeling very cosy and warm feeling when you enter this pub. Very good atmosphere when you come here and friendly pub.

Locals pub, can get quite lively, especially when there is a band playing

It was a very noisy place to stay right on a main road and with live bands down stairs very little sleep. Food ok, staff a little rude.

Was a very good place to stay... i was her for 3 days and breake was amazing. People in here are very friendly.

Stayed for 2 nights in June 2012 and can't say enough about the place. The room was very clean and althought i was well warned about the Live Bands i need'nt have worried, slept like a babe lol.Would reccommend The Fire Engine for anyone needing a cheap, clean, friendly stay, in fact i'm booking another 2 trips and i'll be there soon. Keep up the good work John.
