Visited for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon, the lovely ladies isn’t he shop were very apologetic about delays- this was no issue for us, we thought the service was prompt so didn’t realise there was a delay. Falafel Salad was delicious. Very clean and decorated nicely. Highly recommend. Will return

We always pop in here whilst passing through Ruddington, I always have a flat white (really nice), and we share a piece of Bakewell tart between us (tasty). Always manage to find a table to sit at, which can be a problem in some places. Staff are really friendly.

Perfect location for a spot of breakfast after the park run. Limited breakfast menu but vegetarian friendly. Tomatoes, mushroom and egg on toast arrived luke warm. Requested brown sauce and was given ketchup? Staff were friendly but not very attentive to customers upstairs. It was a little on the cold side upstairs with classic FM playing to a younger customer audience. Overall an average experience, could have been executed better with hot food, more attentive staff and positive vibe. Missing a trick with the post park run refuel!

A large group of us came in for morning tea and the service, though it started slow, soon picked up and was really efficient. My caramel shortbread was the best I’ve ever had. Central location with short term parking opposite. It has a roomy upper floor which has a lovely atmosphere, plus a smaller room with club chairs. The loos were clean.

Nipped in for a coffee, very poor service regulars ordering over the top of us, the lady got our order wrong we received a patronising response, in the end we left as just seemed to much trouble for her, plenty of places for coffee in Ruddington, shame but won't bother again.

came for lunch a few days ago, service was very slow and staff where nice, but a little blunt at times when asking if they had any pastries we just got a ‘no’ which shocked me a little. Anyway ordered my daughter a kids meal as soon as it arrived I noticed the grapes where cut horizontally across the middle which still poses a huge chocking hazard, so glad I noticed. Grapes should be cut vertically for future reference please do so, my daughter is only 3.

I pop in here on a Friday and have to admit I really look forward to it. The staff are really friendly and being a coffee snob, I can genuinely say they do a great coffee. The new cinnamon slice is GORGEOUS.

Philo’s West Bridgford. With so many places in West Bridgford for afternoon coffee Philo’s is no longer on my list of choices! Customer service is in need of a refresh course, The coffee was warm not hot and when I complained about my daughter’s drink not tasting anything like the Iced Mocha that I’d ordered (more like cold Hot Chocolate!), and asked if I could change it for something else, she was very argumentative and it was only because I persisted that it was replaced.

I have been going to Philos Ruddington for over a year now as I work round the corner. It is purely out on convenience rather than anything else although in the past, the food has been good. Firstly, the negative environment is horrible - guys we know you're busy but you're a shop! Look after your customers! You don't get a greeting or if there's a long cue a 'be with you in a minute' or 'sorry about the wait'. When you ask for your order, you feel as though you are asking for the world. After a lot of huffing and puffing you end up with your order and it's often VERY stingy on any fillings/good bits (Please stop filling the salad boxes up with potato salad to reduce the amount of meat/cheese you give us- not okay!). You have increased your prices SIGNIFICANTLY recently - salad box has gone from £3.25 to £3.95 overnight - therefore I feel the food should be better/more generous to make it worth the price. Ultimately, I always leave feeling really awful and I won't be going back again. Jamie (who I think is the manager) is the worst culprit for the unfriendliness and stinginess - he obviously has some favourite customers who I've seen him treat better than others which colleagues at work have seen too. He seems to have a bit of an attitude problem and that seems to be the source of the problem in the shop, setting a negative environment. Treat your customers like human beings and you might retain the loyal ones!

Philo's scores by being both up-market and extremely popular in a village setting. Coffee drinks are expertly made and the deli/cafe type food of salads, soups, baguettes, panini etc are sophisticated and delicious. All this might be unexpected to the casual visitor, but those in the know flock there all week long, including on Sundays.

Good little cafe. A good variety of food for a quick lunch. Friendly staff. The only criticism I have is that the meal deal only includes a hot drink. It would be good to see a meal deal include a cold drink too.

Sandwiched between charity shops, this cafe sits on the high street with a bright interior and outside seating area. While you may think this is not the most salubrious establishment, it leant itself to a quiet and relaxing interlude. Decent coffee and mint tea, with a reasonable choice of baguettes and paninis. Perhaps the seating could be a wee bit more comfortable but still preferable to one of the other national coffee chains. Friendly staff.

I stopped by here one day to grab a quick lunch as I'd forgotten to take mine to work. They make custom baguettes with a wide range of fillings. Just pick the ones you want and they'll make it for you - easy.

I've visited here a few times over the last few years and am always somewhat taken aback by its success considering that the staff fail to greet you as you enter the shop and instead display sullen faces. Any questions are answered in a rather abrupt fashion; food and drinks take a while to arrive and sound much more appetising than they taste. I won't be visiting again having given the venue and staff the benefit of the doubt several times. Not every day can possibly be a bad day!

The staff were lovely, the queue moved quickly, the food looked inviting. Sadly though the Egg Mayo sandwich I left with was a disappointment. The bread was dry as if left out, the salad was meagre and the filling did not go to the edges. It tasted old despite the claim it was freshly made in store.

Had the lunchtime meal deal which consisted of a hot drink, tyrell's crisps and a filled baguette and also came with a lovely salad. For just £5.50 the quality of the food was well worth it and the atmosphere of sitting upstairs was very quaint. Would definitely return!

So, you knew that thing where you walk in to a shop and the staff look up or look over and smile in a way that says 'we know you are there, won't be a mo' and then you can wait happily because you know they know you are there and when your turn will be? Or give a little 'morning, won't be a mo, join the line and look at the menu'.

Was out with friends on a Sunday and fancied a light snack. We all had jacket potatoes with various fillings, the coronation chicken filling was delicious, full of chicken and in a rich tangy sauce. We were all pleased with the varied, fresh and sizeable salad that accompanied the potatoes. Coffees good, hot and served promptly by a very friendly and helpful lady. The place was clean, warm and welcoming. We will definitely be going back.

This is one of those places that could be so much better than it is. Whilst described as a deli, it has limited fresh produce to buy. A selection of sandwiches are pre-made paninis, even the breakfast rolls. The sandwich fillings in the fridge look dried out, someone needs to be stirring them up to keep them looking fresh. Good coffee. One chap behind the counter is very dour. I like the look of the place, but disappointed with the food and the shop, there's nothing interesting here. I'd recommend popping over to Bryers in East Leake, or Six Acres Garden Deli in Costock instead to see what good food and service is like.

Laurence Henry is now Chef Patron of The Martin’s Arms located on School lane,Colston Basset. We have followed his career since he was at Sat Bains and won Master Chef the Professionals in 2018. It's been a year since he slipped off the radar. As soon an opening date was announced we booked. We were practically the first through the door for lunch. The menu is not quite your typical pub grub. It has the classics and something a bit different. We chose a couple of snacks. The Venison Scotch egg and we had to try the KFP. Kentucky fried pheasant with pine & thyme. A Poached pear Waldorf starter. Spiced port, Colston Basset Stilton, candied walnuts & endive. For mains, a true pub classic Cumberland Sausage, served with Mashed potato, seasonal greens & onion gravy. Nice tasty sausage with a lovely flavoursome gravy. Line caught cod. Creamy mash potato, Sweetcorn 'chowder` with clams, cockles & smoked mussels. A large peice of cod cooked to perfection. We wish Laurence and wife Sera every success and shall return with our doggies to see if they approve too.

Went to the Gamston Lock for a family meal. The place was decorated nicely for Christmas and from the moment we walked in the service was great. Quickly shown to our table and drinks served. We had Leah to look after us at the table and she was really great and attentive. Highly commend Leah for her hard work and cheerfulness which added to our evening. We all had the festive set menu which everyone thought was amazing. Highly recommend. Will definitely return.

Lovely welcome from the bar manager and land lady as we walk in. The lounge bar and toilets were very clean. As the current land lady had on just took over the running of the pub, there was no ales on offers. This is something that she is looking to get sorted in the not too distant future. Defo put this place on your list of pubs to visit when in the area. Good luck, Three Horseshoe's, see you again sometime!!
