Went to copper today with my friend for lunch! We both had babies both in pushchair s we was told we wasn’t allowed to have them inside unless we folded them up which I found bizarre considering our babies are only a few months old! So not a good start! We both ordered omelettes that were tasteless!! Giving the food wasn’t even good the bill was very expensive! In future I will go else where! Somewhere a bit more child friendly & food with some taste.

Visited the Mapperley venue. The menu promised so much but delivery was disappointing. The food was ok but nothing fabulous. We also had a scone with jam and cream. The cream was a tiny amount and was rock hard, like it’d been in the freezer. The scones were also dense in the middle so had either been frozen or were just poorly made. Not what we’d be used to at Copper in the city. The most concerning part was the huge lack of social distancing. The tables were definitely closer than two metres, at best it was one meter. Very disappointing.

Great food and service: we arrived at 12.30 and the 'brunch' menu had ended... I'd just fancied the Colombian Eggs but sadly they 'finished at 1200'. However, I had forgotten how varied the menu is.... with lots of great choices. I chose from the lunch menu (Caesar Salad with chicken/poached egg) which was plentiful. My friend ordered prawn and salmon risotto... again really great value. The atmosphere was busy and lively... all in all a great destination for the day and time.

Went to meet a friend for a meal and a drink in west Bridgford and she suggested coppers which I was happy with. Turned up on a rainy day with my small 2 month old in her prom and was stopped at the door and told that I’d need to fold my pram down. I said it would be just as bulky folded up as at had a bassinet attachment which took up room. It would take up less room assembled!! The man who had prevented me even entering the building just looked at me and obviously was not at all bothered about it. I felt like a second class citizen as I had a baby with me. It really shocked me that a business is allowed to operate like this and it is not classed as discrimination. How this cafe is still running with such an unfriendly atmosphere I have no idea! This is my second child and have never been turned away from somewhere like this. I was allowed in to tell my friend that I wouldn’t be allowed to stay and could see that there was plenty of room for my pram and baby to stay with me which just upset me more. Stay away if you have pushchairs or a child that is not able to sit in a high chair.

3 of us popped in for a drink before going across the road to Côte Brasserie for dinner. Lovely to have Aspalls cider on draft. It was quite noisy due to a loud group of lads, but not too much. And we were not staying long. We were pleased to get a table. Good range of gins. Having been coming to this venue in its various incarnations side 2001, we’ll certainly be back before too long as it is one of the most reliable bars in West Bridgford.

We go to this venue regularly. In the past we have had an excellent Club Sandwich, clearly enough to share. Today however it was so disappointing. It took a while to arrive and when it did we could not believe firstly the salad which was swimming in balsamic glaze. Then the club sandwich. The bacon on it was about 10mm thick. It certainly was not a rasher of normal bacon, it was more like a thin gammon steak. Apart from the chicken , it was also light on the egg mayo and cheese. When we raised it after we had battled with the sandwich and left the salad we were told they had changed their supplier and were interested in any feedback from customers. Very unlikely will return for a club sandwich unless it improves to the previous standard.

Arriving late lunch on a pleasant early April weekend, there was a vacant table outside on the pavement area, in the (mostly) sun. Prompt service with a smile, quick delivery of our food which was very tasty, but then you would hope so when you pay a tenner for a club sandwich with a few crisps and leaves on the side. I know it's a premier spot in Bridgford but that's still a lot of cash for a sandwich.

Claustrophobic and a little expensive are my immediate thoughts. Unlikely to return. My goat's cheese sandwich had too much sage with it, and the bread was a little heavy. The positive point was the side salad and crisps were nice. Coffee OK, but not as good as other places close by.

Always enjoyed experience at Copper, and just phoned to book a lunchtime table for 3. Advised by gentleman that bookings weren’t taken, it was first come, first served basis. Having eaten at Copper a couple of weeks ago, and read the notice that a section was for bookings only, I enquired when this changed. His response was that they have never taken bookings for less than 8. As I booked a table for 2 on my last but one visit, and the ‘for bookings only’ has tables for 2s and 4s, this was an obvious untruth. Shame, because it will be a long while before I venture in to Copper again.

Called in with friends for a quick bite to eat. Chose the savoury cream tea - scone with cream cheese and onion relish. The scone was a good size but very crumbly and dry and there wasn’t quite enough cream cheese and onion relish for the size of scone. Just an extra small teaspoon of each would make it better and better still if the scone wasn’t so dry. Had to keep sipping tea to help it go down. Good cup of tea though and pleasant service.

Visited today with two friends. This is a fairly regular haunt of mine both daytime and evening. I ordered the Cream tea today and was a little disappointed as the scone was very dry and fell apart as I was trying to put jam and cream on. It was served warm so I suspect they are heated in a microwave. Could this be the reason they become dried out? If I order one again I will ask for it cold. Cannot fault the service. I live locally and often visit Copper. The menu for brunch/lunch is inviting and portion sizes perfect. I have never encountered rude staff, always friendly and polite. The bar is quite small and I do not think suitable for babies in pushchairs. There are a few lovely waiters really happy to help and give suggestions make your custom feel like it's wanted and make you feel like you could loose hours in there . However get the wrong staff and this place is uncomfortable awkward and dam right rude , we had two girls laugh and pull faces when we complained about and order behind the bar upstairs thinking we didn't see them . Then when they realised they just carried on ! They did this to a good few folk staying and having afternoon drinks that day . My mum and I usually like to go for a cup of coffe and a cake in West Bridgford. We class the area as being a close knit community that caters towards families. Recently becoming a first time mum at 35 my mum suggested going to Copper. It was a Monday afternoon and none term time, so the place was quiet consisting of six people max. My new born was in a small car seat and we placed him in a corner. More so that my mum and I could have a private catch up. My mum went up to the bar to choose which cake she would like. When what looked like the manager came up to her without a welcome great and stated sorry you will have to leave or take the "buggy down" we explained he was a sleep and wasn't able to do so. He basically stated there was no other choice but to leave. We were taken back by his request and attitude and stated that this was discrimination to mothers/ parents. The manager shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do. I did ask if they allowed wheel chair users?? I just find this behaviour so out dated and behind the times. It also doesn't promote the community environment west Bridgford aims to promote. I'm not naive in thinking that all environments are not suited to fitting in push chairs or like city transport and extreme busy places. On this occasion this wasn't the case.

We didn't eat there today but looked at the menu and again the rise in prices of basic food was alarming. Fish n chips at £13 ouch! Caesar Salad £10, outrageous for coffee morning, coffee and cake £5.50. The establishment right next door does the smae for £4. It was a great pity to find this high extra cost. I just went out for a work meal here, purposefully planned at 4pm so that I could take my 4 month old breast fed baby. I was immediately accosted at the door and told I was not allowed my buggy and would have to collapse it. I pointed out that my baby was happily asleep and was too small for a high chair and was told they were not insured because of the wheels and I had no choice, the most ridulous thing I had heard as a new mum, especially as there was a gentleman in a wheel chair in the venue. I would have left but there was a meal for 8 booked. Our table was completely out of the way and there was plenty of room for my pram but as soon as I took out my baby someone already had hold of my buggy telling me they had to move it immediately, thus made me feel very embarrassed and as though I was a problem. I later went to retrieve something from my buggy and found they had parked it in a narrow corridor in the back blocking the only fire exit. I had been told if I had had a detachable carrier I could have put her on the floor in that, which lead me to believe they would be happier for someone to trip over my actual child rather than the buggy. I left as early as I could from the meal, within which I had had to hold my very upset and tired child, who would have slept quietly in her pram. I felt very upset on departure and as though I had been a huge problem. I will not be going again with or without my baby.

My wife and I booked the upstairs lounge for a private party, from the first time we contacted them until we left copper on the day of the party they acted in a very professional manner and made everything so easy for us. We had booked the room quite early in the year and it was not until November that we contacted them again to discuss food. They offered a large range of canapés and main meals, they also asked how we wanted the room laid out, what sort of music we wanted, and we received a written quote within 24 hours covering all the items we talked about. On the day, we arrived early than agreed but staff were already waiting for us, the canapés and main food arrived on the exact time we asked for and the food was superb. Lots of the guests commented on the food and how good it was: there was plenty of it and no one went hungry.A big thanks to Charlotte who ran the bar and Felix who we made the arrangements with.

We discovered this restaurant as we walked in Nott city centre visiting our daughter. We were lucky to get a table for four on a busy Sun without booking. Staff were friendly and the restaurant is lovely. We all had a roast and it was beautifully presented with some delicious veg. Only complaint would be that the beef was a little thickly cut and hard and the yorkshires more like crisps but otherwise the meal was delicious and well priced.

As the place is used as a cafe by day and a venue/restaurant at night it has rather a strange ambience. Neither one thing nor another really. It does have a decent selection on the menu (I'm talking daytime here), and the staff seem ok but not overly attentive. A previous reviewer complained about being told to leave a pushchair outside. I won't comment on whether this should or shouldn't be done generally, but Copper is very cramped and I can imagine it would have been problematic to have any more floor space taken up. Overall my impression is nice place, nice food, a bit more elbow room needed.

I have visited Copper many times and always bring my friends here when we go out for lunch. Until my recent experience it was one of my favourite places to eat as I think the food is great and good value for money compared to other places. However, I recently visited with a friend at lunch time and was told that I would have to leave my pushchair outside, which had my 2 month old baby in. I asked what am I meant to do with my baby and was told I could put him in a high chair. I stated that he was too young to go in a high chair. They kept telling me I need to leave the pushchair outside and again I asked what am I meant to do with my baby, as I can't hold him and eat at the same time and he was quite content in his pushchair. I was then told that what most people do is put the pram part of the pushchair on a chair with baby inside and that it's the base of the pushchair that needs to be collapsed and left outside. I was really confused by this and said that I don't think that would be very safe. The pram part is over twice the size of one of their little chairs so would be balancing on the chair and could easily topple off with baby inside! I also don't understand the logic in this as the pram section is the larger part of the pushchair, not the wheels and by putting the pram on a chair, it isn't saving any room and is surely more of a health and safety issue than having a pushchair in there that's easy to move?!?! They simply said well that's what other people do so it's up to me. I said I would have to leave and they weren't bothered or even apologetic at all! I would also be a bit more understanding if it was busy but there were plenty of empty tables and room for me to park my pushchair next to a table without being in anyone's way.To be honest I was very shocked and upset by this. I have never experienced this problem anywhere else and I've eaten at many places and taken my baby and pram with me. In fact, every other place I have eaten at have only been even more helpful to try to accommodate for us, even when room has been on the tight side! This really was my favourite place to eat in west bridgford but I will never be returning now on principle, even when my baby is old enough to go in a high chair. I felt that I was being discriminated against for having a small baby and think it's quite disgusting! We ended up going to mud crab a few doors down. It was slightly more expensive but the food was delicious and the staff were so helpful and friendly and more than happy to make room for the pushchair. There were lots of other people with pushchairs in there too.I think Copper seriously need to look at this issue and come up with a solution to allow people with babies to eat there, as they are excluding a large group of potential customers and I don't think it's very fair!

I came here for breakfast with my boyfriend and it was alright. I would say the only downside of it was that the staff took a while to come and serve us.I had pancakes and he had a full English breakfast and we both agreed that the food didn't taste as though it was done on the hob, instead as if it was done on some kind of machine to cook it quickly.Obviously I have no idea how they cook it however we both thought that we had tasted better breakfast elsewhere.

I had a family get together and suggest Copper as I used to find it very friendly although the food was always just ok. IT'S my guests were traveling from far I booked a table for 8 people for 11am. We arrived outside at 11 and spent a few minuets saying hi to each other. We then entered the restaurant and waited to be greater. By the time this happened it was 11.04. We were told by a very rude man he had given our table away as we were late. I thought he was joking at first as we had arrived on time. I said it's only 11.04 he said late is late. Astonishing wow. Anyway we went to Carluccios with no booking. I have never had breakfast there but can thoroughly recommend it. Absolutely delicious and blows Copper away with the quality of food and service so I guess I should thank them.

We had the rump steak which was cooked to perfection.. we had a few drinks, the gingerbread Manhattan cocktail was beautiful! Lovely atmosphere, a bit of live music on a Sunday evening - perfect.Thank you for such a lovely evening!

I've been to this bar/restaurant many times... & previously I have to say the food was great! & excellent value... lovely cakes too! Service a bit slow when busier but always worth the wait. Sadly I won't be visiting ever again after literally being turned away today with my 6 month old in her pushchair. They wouldn't allow me to move a chair & pop my daughter in her pushchair at the side of the table. They said it was because there isn't much room. However, would they have said the same to a wheelchair user or to a mother with a child with a specially adapted pushchair for a child with additional needs?? They did say I could collapse the pushchair, but my baby can't hold herself up in a high chair yet. I just wanted a drink & a slice of cake. I obviously didn't fit in with their 'target audience' & they want to keep pushchairs out... They can't obviously say you're not welcome if you have children with you but they make it hard so you don't stay!

Visited here for brunch with a friend today. I've been to the Nottingham branch before and liked it but it's not really my favourite place. The West Bridgford branch however is lovely - cosy and welcoming. It was pretty busy when we visited on a Saturday morning, with a lot of people sitting outside. Popular place! We were served by a lovely lady who gave us menus and was very friendly. We ordered a pot of tea each and I ordered the eggs benedict while my friend ordered the eggs royale. The only weird thing - which is actually a GREAT thing - is that our food arrived and *then* the drinks arrived. In fact we were just asking the waitress who brought our food where our drinks were when they materialised. Perfect timing, since of course we wanted our drinks with our food. My eggs benedict were divine, I thoroughly enjoyed them! My friend loved her eggs royale (which had salmon instead of bacon). The breakfast menu is more than ample and offers something a little different should you wish (the Colombian Eggs piqued my interest - scrambled eggs with salsa & guacamole - maybe next time!).This is a lovely place and I'd happily go back if only I were in W Bridgford on a more regular basis! (First time in a few years.)

I visit Copper quite regularly with various friends- an ideal meeting place in the centre of West Bridgford offering outside seating when sunny, indoor tables downstairs and comfier seating on the upper floor. The service is always very efficient, coffee and cakes excellent value, and they cater for our g/f friends, too. Lunches and evening meals are tasty, with a good menu selection, and reasonably priced. The ambiance changes according to time of day and the weather. Sunny evenings always see folks enjoying a glass of wine both inside and outside where the attraction of outdoor seating is a real plus.

We had a mid-week dinner here with friends, it is not possible to book a table, but we were assured that we would not have a problem at 7.00pm. We were able to choose a table upstairs which is a little quieter, so we could chat easily. There was a fixed price menu, but it was a similar price to go a la carte. Everything we had was very good and well presented and the wine was very reasonably priced. The service was not intrusive but it was friendly and unrushed.

I've been going to Copper for a couple of years now off and on and can never fault the service or the food. The stand out thing however is the service, whether you are eating or just having a drink, is second to none. They do a special set menu of two and three courses but we had the lovely dipping camembert and I had a great steak with superb dauphinoise potatoes. It's all very informal and they have regular guitar players on who really understand the place. Copper is part of a wider group of restaurants and pubs and the entertainers seem to move around their other venues. Beer can be a bit pricey but this is the first restaurant where my wife was offered a number of wines to taste before we ordered a very reasonably priced bottle.

Tried this place last May 2015 and was so impressed we had to return for our first anniversary. The service tonight was second to none, we were looked after and attended to so well all night. The food was sublime. Mushroom soup to start was really tasty, the bowl just seemed bottomless! The steak here never fails me and was cooked to perfection. It's a nice change to see steak paired with dauphinois potatoes and greens instead of chips. Dessert was the cherry on top of the evening I just wish I could've eaten it all! Will always recommend this place

Went here for pre restaurant drinks on a Saturday night. Really like the way they have done the place up. Almost unrecognisable from the dingy hole that used to be reflex. Drinks are expensive: £9.20 for two pints and was a bit irritating to get stuck in the queue at the bar behind people ordering complicated cocktails but it goes with the territory I guess. A nice swanky place which seems to draw an older clientele.

I use Copper in West Bridgford for lunch almost every other week so was really looking forward to trying this relatively new addition to Nottingham City Centre. The lunches are always nicely cooked and well presented and very fresh.Eight of us are here last night. On arrival we had a drink in the bar which, for eight o clock, was buzzing, a really good vibe. I would say it was really more a cafe bar than a restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised. The menu is not too full but with a good selection for everyone. We had a mixture of mains of chicken, pork and fish and everything was piping hot, full of flavour and nice sized portions. Five of the group had puddings which were polished off very quickly with full approval. The service was efficient and even though it was very busy, the wait between ordering and courses was just right.A really good lively place, not expensive, good wine and we shall be back.

The atmosphere was good with a range of ages from the younger to older.......much nicer when there's a good mix! Being in West Bridgford the prices are slightly higher.......£16.60 for a grey goose & lemonade, an amaretto & coke and double archers & lemonade......however it's nice not to be surrounded by young students out to get completely off their face and the music isn't loud so you can sit and have a good chat with friends!

We've been going regularly and the food has been quite good and the place/staff OK. Recently we discovered after 30 minutes that our order had not been placed due to miscommunication of staff. When we came to settle up we said we'd like to see this long wait reflected in the bill - eg knock off the cost of a pot of tea but the manager who seems pretty disinterested said that it was one of thins things, no one's fault and that an apology (not sure when we heard that) should be enough. We know things can go wrong but usually the restaurant tries to make up for it We will not go back.
