Beef in Sunday lunch rather chewy and tasteless

This is a great venue where I often have an offsite catch-up with team members and a spot of lovely lunch. Staff are always accommodating, helping to find an appropriate spot where we can converse easily. Food is great, good value deals with plenty of variety.

We were welcomed to the restaurant and selected from the menu, which can be tricky with fussy children. Our youngest wanted a burger, but did not want cheese. I considered ordering from the table using the QR code, but found I could not specify requests. Therefore I ordered at the bar and requested no cheese on the burger. Unfortunately it came with cheese. The other 3 dishes were good, except the naan bread with the Thai curry was dry; the poppadum was nice and crispy though. The drinks and desert were good. Table service was efficient and friendly.

Great stay, comfortable beds, warm and friendly staff. Don't skip breakfast, it was excellent.

Last time j was here the wait time was far too long, but that was a few months back. I'm gonna say now it's a massive improvement, took my mum and dad for father's day. The starters (halloumi fries) were really nice. Mains of signature burger, mac n cheese, and steak (for my dad) all were very nice served hot and with excellent service. I may have missed while booking but could use a disabled option but straight away staff accommodated us immediately as my dad is disabled. I struggle to find a negative with my experience and would like to thank the staff at Gamston lock

We had our daughter’s baby shower at the Gamston Lock and the staff were friendly, and just amazing with all of us!! Great venue

We had the mini fillet steak and pie - it was absolutely delicious. Our server Harriette was lovely, professional and very attentive. She made us feel very welcome which adds to a homely feel.

Great service from the table, friendly and relaxed pass so could enjoy the experience and not feel like we were being rushed. There was a couple of big groups in but you couldn’t tell at all. We will return again sooner this time!

On arrival, the young man was very polite,friendly & took me & my elderly parents to our table, he was very knowledgeable in what was on the menu that was available & if we had any allergies, when the meals arrived a very polite friendly young lady asked if we needed anything else, the food was excellent & my dad said that the scampi was the best he had ever had & he's had a lot, 😊 The whole restaurant was clean & tidy, nothing out of place, overall 10/10 The only thing I could have suggested is that the young man never had a name badge on. But that's not a problem.

Lovely pub, the staff were so friendly, it was my partners birthday so this was a special treat. We were in the garden it was so nice. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. The portions were generous also. We will definitely be back

11 of us visited. We had a lovely meal and drinks and the staff were excellent.

We came for breakfast, two adults and 5 children. It’s was an excellent experience and wonderful value for money. We had Gluten Free and vegan dietary requirements which were dealt with with no trouble. The waiter knew what was gluten free and it was no effort. The children’s food was fantastic value and this makes eating out for breakfast more viable for us as a family. The kids also enjoyed the play equipment outside. Very grateful. Thanks.

booked for a Sunday lunch, it was ok. Cauliflower cheese was verging on raw, so didnt pay for that, parsnips were crunchy and overall it wasn't served particularly hot

We have been here half a dozen times in the last few months. Today our sever (grace) was very polite nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good value for money and all served promptly and hot, being a table for 8 everyone enjoyed their meal. Well done Gamston Lock! Thank you.

Lovely pub, Food is perfect and Amazing staff. We come often for lunch, dinner and drinks. Never had a problem and always recommend it to friends and family.

There were about about 17 of us (10 Adults and 7 kids) and we had such a lovely time. The food was good and all the staff we interacted with were very good. Special mention - Tracey was amazing, she was took all our orders and made sure the kids who were particularly very hungry were catered to quite quickly. Been a large group meant there was a bit more noise from our side of the restaulrant but they were so patient and gracious due to the number of young kids we had. Would recommend and definitely be going back again.

We visited the Gamston Lock for Sunday lunch, we have been here many times and it never disappoints, the food is always delicious, and lots of it, very generous portions, the deserts are delicious and the service is wonderful, we were served by Izzy, Tracey and Palak for our food and by Abbie and Arlo for drinks and they were all so friendly and it’s just a pleasure to go there, I would recommend this place to everyone.

Fabulous lunch with friends food was hearty filling and presented well with plenty on the plate , the staff were friendly funny and very helpful and would bend over backwards to help , top notch service from the two young ladies who served us , deffo going back again .

Highly advise against staying here . My daughter had a huge asthma flare up from the smell of smoke in the room, causing us to leave and they would not refund us. In fact they charged us for BOTH nights! Terrible service for our family. Don’t bring your family to this place.

Went to Gamston Lock for Christmas Day meal. It was excellent. We were served by Leah who is a breath of fresh air, always smiling and very attentive. The atmosphere was great. We would definitely recommend Christmas Day here. Well done team.

Great communication in booking the table. Plenty of staff helping, lovely food and nice clean comfortable setting.

We was very cold don’t think they had heating on. Plus the service was terrible had to wait for the peppercorn sauce to come out at least 10 minutes after the steak came out. Was never asked if we wanted more drinks had to go and ask. Not happy. Will not be going back. The only nice staff was Leah. Shame could be a nice place to go if they got it together and actually cared about there customers.

Went to the Gamston Lock for a family meal. The place was decorated nicely for Christmas and from the moment we walked in the service was great. Quickly shown to our table and drinks served. We had Leah to look after us at the table and she was really great and attentive. Highly commend Leah for her hard work and cheerfulness which added to our evening. We all had the festive set menu which everyone thought was amazing. Highly recommend. Will definitely return.

Recently visited this venue for the first time and it was excellent with great service and good value for money so I returned to enjoy catching up with a friend over a mixed grill which was extremely filling and well cooked. Nice decor inside and a large car park with plenty of spaces. Will definitely look to return.

Great place to stay, rooms were spotless, modern and comfortable. Food was great, Staff were all good. Also considering the proximity of a major road, we had no issue at all with traffic noise.

Love Gamston, every time I come up to Nottingham for a wedding or event and work,I come here. Very highly recommended.

Popped in last night around 7.30pm, great service but the food was standard, we felt like we got the dregs of the day, yes it was Sunday but still we were paying full price. Not a place we will be visiting again.

Big gaps in service, nobody asked once if we wanted more drinks, took 3 hours start to finish and all the Sunday roast was beyond disappointing. Basics of a roast we’re all wrong, potatoes tasted old and were not roasted more like boiled potatoes, my Yorkshire was wet and flat and others were that dry dust went everywhere when biting, some plates flooded with gravy and others were dry, the gravy was NOT red wine gravy it had no flavour, the vegetarian option of halloumi wrap was so over cooked it was almost inedible, had to prompt staff to get the children’s desserts whilst half the group left, terrible way to spend best part of £250, will never visit again

We had a family get together to say good bye to him and his wife as they are moving abroad. Party of 10.... My nephews mixed grill was not cooked properly so he left a lot of it, His girlfriends left most of her chicken as that was not cooked properly. On paying my brother paid his £50, My nephew paid his £50 leaving £122 for us as a family of 5 to pay to be refused out blue light card as it was a party of 10 even though we paid separately. The cashier was very rude, I explained about us having 2 foster children with us and that is why we have a blue light card and she just said - that's the rules. I will be taking this further and will be telling people about our experience as a family at this restaurant.

Good service, good quality food.

Went for breakfast this morning, Avacado on toast was good, but with all restaurants, it's not just about the food, but the service. Abbie was excellent. And not just with us, you could see that she was bossing the whole operation, seemingly on her own most of the time! (Oh, good value for money also!)

Izzy and Heather were really good. Their service was great. Minor issue with the bill which got sorted out straight away. Good was really really good. Would definitely eat here again.

A tremendous pub and hotel offering fantastic service at reasonable prices! A big shout out to the pub manager and every one of the staff we encountered. They were all genuine very kind friendly people! If you’re visiting Nottingham I’d choose this place. 10 minutes by taxi from central Nottingham.

Always had a warm welcome here, especially for treat weekday breakfasts. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It's a real treat to be looked after. The food is good, the continental breakfast is great value and the pub is cosy.

We had Sunday lunch and it was the best one I have ever had anywhere. It was fresh, tasty and the portions were huge! The staff were lovely and welcoming too. I would 100% recommend it.

Stopped over in motorhome in car park. Meal in pub was lovely and sensibly priced with 30% off mains (voucher from website). Very dog friendly and the hobgoblin gold was superb. Car park not quite level and tight for our 7.4m MH but we could have moved once the car park emptied out late evening. All in all a nice stopover with just a bit of road noise.
