Stayed in the hotel for one night, and used the restaurant for my evening meal and breakfast. Room was very comfortable and immaculate. Food for both the evening meal and breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly. When in the area I would stay again.

We were greeted with a warm smile and polite attitude the young lady serving us was a delight couldn’t do enough to help us very prompt service with a good selection of drinks which were provided quickly lovely selection of food and desserts all four of us agreed the hot dishes were delicious and I can not express my delight enough the chicken ham hock and leek pie was awesome as was my friends meals of lasagna bangers and mash and finally the steak and Malbec pie and being greedy had the caramel tart for pudding which was excellent

we’ve been here multiple times over the years, and it’s gotten worse each time. The food has not been good, but the service is the worst thing. The management do not care if somethings wrong, and will not give you anything off the bill, any money back and don’t even offer an apology. Eating out is a real treat these days, if you’re lucky enough to, choose somewhere where the staff and food are half decent.

Once I had gotten to the hotel and ended up having a nap, I made my way back down to the pub. I was asked if I had any allergies, and I have intolerances to gluten and dairy. So I was give them gluten free menu and informed that if I go on to the website I can filter out dairy as well to help me out with what to order. All the staff were very helpful and helped me with the intolerances that I have. After spending the night I came down from breakfast as well. Again I was very happy with the amount that I was helped with my intolerances. I was even informed that the sausages are gluten free, which is a plus. Even though the staff looked busy on both occasions they managed to help me out and accommodate me and my intolerances very well, so thank you so much for that.

I was very disappointed with the service here I felt discriminated. I went into the reception bar there was one person ahead of me and the lady at the till was sorting out the customer at ahead of me. As I waited another staff member came round Tracey she ask who was next a couple other customers came up she ask who’s next I was the only black person there I said I’m next and put my heads up she ignored me. She then started to served the other customers ,which I didn’t take too personal. The lady that was behind the till finish serving the customer ahead of me and then ask me how she could help. I said I would like to check in ,please. She said oh it’s the next side Tracey does the checking in, Tracey was at the checking desk looking for something. I went over she did not acknowledge me whatsoever. She then walk away back to the bar and proceed to serve the customers behind the bar a fair few of them walk up during this period . I waited patiently she came back after serving everyone at the bar ,which again she was the only one that could check me in. Another staff member came up to the bar to help serve the rest of the customers. I stood at the check in desk along with another customer behind me. After about 7-12 minutes of waiting she came over no apology for the wait just are you check in. I said, yes. She check me in pretty quickly during the process of checking in I had to sign a form, signature and nationality. I signed and put my nationality I was then told because I’m not a British citizen I have to proved a idea ,which I said okay to. I then stated I’ve stayed at several hotels why do I need to provide a ID here her response “because you’re not a UK national you have to prove a ID”. I said why? She responded “you just do”. I said I’ve stayed at serval hotels and this has never been a thing as I’m not moving it or signing a tenancy agreement it’s a one night stay. She did not respond. Tracey then started to copy my ID without asking my permission. I ask why are you copying my ID she said because we have to send it off. I said send it off to who? She didn’t not respond. So I was then thinking this makes no sense as she didn’t provide no explanation for copying my ID I understand seeing it to make sure I am who I say I am ,but copying my ID without my permission are pre warning me no explanation again. I was very annoyed and it ruined my stay at the hotel. I was going to a work event and my Indian manager also, said he felt ignored by staff members. It’s fair to say I’ll never stay at this hotel again they don’t even have an iron in the rooms terrible service by staff members Tracey/Tracy.

Went to Gamston Lock with a friend and the waiter accidentally spilled a pint of beer on me. Completely understand accidents can happen. I asked if there is any chance I could get a few chicken strips/a bowl of chips to make up for clothes being drenched and he asked manager. To which the manager said no, just think that given I've had a drink chucked on me that a small gesture like that would've been welcome.

We have been here on many occasions for meals for 2, 4 or 6 and never been disappointed. We chose therefore to book an area here for a family 70th birthday for 20 on a Saturday evening. All the staff are extremely hard working, very professional and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Andrew was brilliant and did so much to assist before and during the meal to ensure that the evening went well. The food was chosen from the new menu and everyone has praised the choice and quality and the service. No complaints whatsoever. I can highly recommend!

Saturday night - 02/'25. Very busy. Not too noisy. Atmosphere score reduced due to large party of ~Scummers~ people celebrating a baby reveal .. with several tag playing ,football with a ballooning rug rats. No manners,not polite .. Food was very good. Had the Fillet steak & mini beef + Malbec pie. The only criticism would be that the menu stated roast potatoes & In my head that meant roasts like a Sunday roast ..but these were more like roasted Parmentier style cubed spuds. Well cooked + rosemary + garlic . Veg was well cooked , fresh ,nice taste. Served separate. Overall a very nice meal . Jury is still out as to whether it's worth £23.50 though ! - 😄. Staff were young, professional ,hard working , pleasant & very helpful.. Recommended.

Very nice Pub with friendly staff

Reception was really friendly and we were chuffed to end up at the Karaoke night with CJ. I would recommend another few vegetable sides and another vegetarian meal in the pub. They were very good about allergens snd really friendly. The room was lovely and a comfy bed. Tv didn't work very well.

This is a great venue where I often have an offsite catch-up with team members and a spot of lovely lunch. Staff are always accommodating, helping to find an appropriate spot where we can converse easily. Food is great, good value deals with plenty of variety.

We were welcomed to the restaurant and selected from the menu, which can be tricky with fussy children. Our youngest wanted a burger, but did not want cheese. I considered ordering from the table using the QR code, but found I could not specify requests. Therefore I ordered at the bar and requested no cheese on the burger. Unfortunately it came with cheese. The other 3 dishes were good, except the naan bread with the Thai curry was dry; the poppadum was nice and crispy though. The drinks and desert were good. Table service was efficient and friendly.

The best breakfast in the area.

Last time j was here the wait time was far too long, but that was a few months back. I'm gonna say now it's a massive improvement, took my mum and dad for father's day. The starters (halloumi fries) were really nice. Mains of signature burger, mac n cheese, and steak (for my dad) all were very nice served hot and with excellent service. I may have missed while booking but could use a disabled option but straight away staff accommodated us immediately as my dad is disabled. I struggle to find a negative with my experience and would like to thank the staff at Gamston lock

We had the mini fillet steak and pie - it was absolutely delicious. Our server Harriette was lovely, professional and very attentive. She made us feel very welcome which adds to a homely feel.

We had our daughter’s baby shower at the Gamston Lock and the staff were friendly, and just amazing with all of us!! Great venue

Great service from the table, friendly and relaxed pass so could enjoy the experience and not feel like we were being rushed. There was a couple of big groups in but you couldn’t tell at all. We will return again sooner this time!

On arrival, the young man was very polite,friendly & took me & my elderly parents to our table, he was very knowledgeable in what was on the menu that was available & if we had any allergies, when the meals arrived a very polite friendly young lady asked if we needed anything else, the food was excellent & my dad said that the scampi was the best he had ever had & he's had a lot, 😊 The whole restaurant was clean & tidy, nothing out of place, overall 10/10 The only thing I could have suggested is that the young man never had a name badge on. But that's not a problem.

11 of us visited. We had a lovely meal and drinks and the staff were excellent.

We came for breakfast, two adults and 5 children. It’s was an excellent experience and wonderful value for money. We had Gluten Free and vegan dietary requirements which were dealt with with no trouble. The waiter knew what was gluten free and it was no effort. The children’s food was fantastic value and this makes eating out for breakfast more viable for us as a family. The kids also enjoyed the play equipment outside. Very grateful. Thanks.

booked for a Sunday lunch, it was ok. Cauliflower cheese was verging on raw, so didnt pay for that, parsnips were crunchy and overall it wasn't served particularly hot

Lovely pub, Food is perfect and Amazing staff. We come often for lunch, dinner and drinks. Never had a problem and always recommend it to friends and family.

There were about about 17 of us (10 Adults and 7 kids) and we had such a lovely time. The food was good and all the staff we interacted with were very good. Special mention - Tracey was amazing, she was took all our orders and made sure the kids who were particularly very hungry were catered to quite quickly. Been a large group meant there was a bit more noise from our side of the restaulrant but they were so patient and gracious due to the number of young kids we had. Would recommend and definitely be going back again.

Fabulous lunch with friends food was hearty filling and presented well with plenty on the plate , the staff were friendly funny and very helpful and would bend over backwards to help , top notch service from the two young ladies who served us , deffo going back again .

We visited the Gamston Lock for Sunday lunch, we have been here many times and it never disappoints, the food is always delicious, and lots of it, very generous portions, the deserts are delicious and the service is wonderful, we were served by Izzy, Tracey and Palak for our food and by Abbie and Arlo for drinks and they were all so friendly and it’s just a pleasure to go there, I would recommend this place to everyone.

Don’t stay at the hotel here awful

Highly advise against staying here . My daughter had a huge asthma flare up from the smell of smoke in the room, causing us to leave and they would not refund us. In fact they charged us for BOTH nights! Terrible service for our family. Don’t bring your family to this place.

Went to Gamston Lock for Christmas Day meal. It was excellent. We were served by Leah who is a breath of fresh air, always smiling and very attentive. The atmosphere was great. We would definitely recommend Christmas Day here. Well done team.

We was very cold don’t think they had heating on. Plus the service was terrible had to wait for the peppercorn sauce to come out at least 10 minutes after the steak came out. Was never asked if we wanted more drinks had to go and ask. Not happy. Will not be going back. The only nice staff was Leah. Shame could be a nice place to go if they got it together and actually cared about there customers.

Went to the Gamston Lock for a family meal. The place was decorated nicely for Christmas and from the moment we walked in the service was great. Quickly shown to our table and drinks served. We had Leah to look after us at the table and she was really great and attentive. Highly commend Leah for her hard work and cheerfulness which added to our evening. We all had the festive set menu which everyone thought was amazing. Highly recommend. Will definitely return.

Recently visited this venue for the first time and it was excellent with great service and good value for money so I returned to enjoy catching up with a friend over a mixed grill which was extremely filling and well cooked. Nice decor inside and a large car park with plenty of spaces. Will definitely look to return.

Great place to stay, rooms were spotless, modern and comfortable. Food was great, Staff were all good. Also considering the proximity of a major road, we had no issue at all with traffic noise.

From the moment we walked in, all was perfect Friendly welcome, all menu's explained, Only complaint, too much to choose from, I mean seriously, what choices you offered. Food was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavour Staff helpful and friendly Really happy and will be back
