Nice modern pub with friendly service.

We had a family get together to say good bye to him and his wife as they are moving abroad. Party of 10.... My nephews mixed grill was not cooked properly so he left a lot of it, His girlfriends left most of her chicken as that was not cooked properly. On paying my brother paid his £50, My nephew paid his £50 leaving £122 for us as a family of 5 to pay to be refused out blue light card as it was a party of 10 even though we paid separately. The cashier was very rude, I explained about us having 2 foster children with us and that is why we have a blue light card and she just said - that's the rules. I will be taking this further and will be telling people about our experience as a family at this restaurant.

Good service, good quality food.

Went for breakfast this morning, Avacado on toast was good, but with all restaurants, it's not just about the food, but the service. Abbie was excellent. And not just with us, you could see that she was bossing the whole operation, seemingly on her own most of the time! (Oh, good value for money also!)

Izzy and Heather were really good. Their service was great. Minor issue with the bill which got sorted out straight away. Good was really really good. Would definitely eat here again.

Take a late breakfast as you avoid the rush. I love the service here. Well recommended.

A tremendous pub and hotel offering fantastic service at reasonable prices! A big shout out to the pub manager and every one of the staff we encountered. They were all genuine very kind friendly people! If you’re visiting Nottingham I’d choose this place. 10 minutes by taxi from central Nottingham.

My first time here very amaze with front house kindness and service specially GRACE... her smile friendly way accomodate us with everything we asked for and beyond Find a taxi till make sure the taxi was ready for us... she is TOP KNOT staff.. About the food my steak wasnt so good bit tuff n stiff meat .. anyway we had great night there.. success for the future..

Always had a warm welcome here, especially for treat weekday breakfasts. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It's a real treat to be looked after. The food is good, the continental breakfast is great value and the pub is cosy.

Stopped over in motorhome in car park. Meal in pub was lovely and sensibly priced with 30% off mains (voucher from website). Very dog friendly and the hobgoblin gold was superb. Car park not quite level and tight for our 7.4m MH but we could have moved once the car park emptied out late evening. All in all a nice stopover with just a bit of road noise.

We had Sunday lunch and it was the best one I have ever had anywhere. It was fresh, tasty and the portions were huge! The staff were lovely and welcoming too. I would 100% recommend it.

I know many people say this, but I DO work in the pub/restaurant business and I had lunch with 2 colleagues, where we were shocked to realise, we were not asked ONCE if we had any allergies!! Our own toll system has a prompt on the screen making us ask the customer if they have allergies, as soon as they ask for food! Table service is also offered in my work and we still ask EVERY time we take an order!! Disgraceful to put it upon the customer to make it known, your company should be making this a priority given the current climate!!! When I asked the barman (who was passing) what was in the sticky toffee pudding I had eaten, as there had been little bits in it…he shrugged his shoulders, huffed like I was annoying him and said he didn’t know and to find out he would “have to go ALL the way into the kitchen to find out” (the table we were sitting at was right outside the kitchen doors!!!!!) He told me to read the menu, but the menu only said sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream and a caramel sauce, that’s why I asked the question!! He stomped away from the table, huffing and puffing because I dared to ask a question!!! The menus have not got many details of the components in the food, except V or VG. Appalling lack of care toward your customers, forcing us to ask questions of the staff, who aren’t interested in their job enough to know or find out or even CARE!! Shocking!

The staff are really helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They are polite and attentive and made my stay a really relaxed one. My room was immaculate and tidy with the highest level of cleanliness. Whenever I need to stay local to my parents, I would always choose this hotel. I have already booked for December! Huge thanks to all again.

Had the three roasts for Sunday lunch, I literally cannot say a bad word, food was fantastic, melt in your mouth meats the staff were lovely, would definitely recommend this place..

This venue was always fantastic and used to visit regularly on a Sunday for lunch, recently had a very belligerent and argumentative member of staff over a petty dietary requirement we needed in the end. We ended up walking out as it resulted in a full-blown argument in the restaurant between us and the waitress, it’s a great shame because the food and atmosphere are great and majority of other stuff the same unfortunately this particular member of staff was clearly having a bad day and taking it out on customers

We have stayed several times at Gamston Lock and always been very happy. The staff on duty - Chris, Craig & Sophie - were friendly and helpful. Sophie was especially attentive in the restaurant.

We stayed in the inn too on the same spot. We had a great nights sleep. Clean and adequate room. Breakfast was excellent, happy and welcoming atmosphere including the friendly dog. Would definitely recommend.

Nice Saturday lunch, a few different options from the usual pub menus. Leah provided exceptional service and was very patient with my elderly mum. (Small portions for seniors would be nice, instead of offering the kids menu only )

Recently visited this venue for the first time and it was excellent with great service and good value for money. I enjoyed catching up with a friend over a mixed grill which was extremely filling and well cooked. Nice decor inside and a large car park with plenty of spaces. Will definitely look to return.

Stayed for three days, had a lovely time, breakfast servers, Abi, Amy @ Tracy are just the best, engaging, helpful and hard working. Breakfast is very nice, everything cooked fresh, great continental choice as well. Thank you Gamston Lock, and keep up the great work ladies.

Very friendly helpful staff, very good service. I love the fact that you can order from the table and as well as the food they bring your drinks to the table., I hate having to queue at the bar to order food.

Very poor cheese and bacon burger at this establishment both of the beef Patty's were thin,dry and tasteless and obviously very cheap catering burgers, the one piece of small bacon was once again tasteless and poor quality,one slice of unmelted processed cheese thrown in for good measure. Chips were dry tasteless also. This is the sort of thing you could find for half the price at some back street cafe in fact it would probably be far better quality.. Almost 15.00quid for this quality and quantity is disgraceful bearing in mind five minutes drive down the road will get you burger and a pint for 10.00 and it's excellent quality and quantity and a nice pub and I don't mean JDW. If this is company policy to serve up poor quality, overpriced, small portions food then company policy needs reviewing.

Really pleasantly surprised. Had a Sunday roast - well presented and well cooked (veg not overcooked). Generous on the veg...perhaps a bit light on the amount of meat. Veg option looked good and kids meal were good value.

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner with our 2 kids. We were shown to our table and told by the staff which items on the menu were no longer available, it made it easier for us to decide what to order. Went for steak & ale pie plus two kids meals with starter & dessert and drinks. Drinks and food arrived in good time, plentiful for everyone, staff very attentive and polite. We were served by Leah and Grace. Will definitely return back after having good experience.

Good overall experience, was waiting a while at least 10-15 minutes to be seated and served. No one was manning the desk for hotel check in and no one manning restaurant desk. Very pricey, but worth it for the quality of the food and fast service when seated, didn't have to wait long for food when ordered.

Staff is lovely, friendly and the place itself is nice. 3 stars are for the main star of the show - the food and prices. 15 quid for half size burger and laughable amount of chips left my tummy not satisfied. Paid and left, I don't think I'll rush back.

Leah was absolutely lovely and really courteous, very easy to get on with as well and always asked if we wanted anything else and brought it to us, the other staff members were lovely as well and the food was beautiful. I had a 3 course meal for £20.75 which is a set meal and I think is a fantastic price, and for the amount and quality of the food it just couldn't be beaten. Highly recommend 😊💖

Pleasant atmosphere for a chain restaurant food ok staff excellent

The staff were pleasant and attentive and the food was cooked well, but had no flavour to it. My partner and I both had the 3 meat Sunday roast and the only thing on the plate with any taste at all was the horseradish sauce and the red cabbage.

From the outset it was apparent that this is not a particularly professionally run establishment. Table for two was pre-booked, but they hadn't managed to have two chairs in place. Found another more suitable table with very helpful staff. The pub looks jaded not helped by extra chairs stacked up in plain view of diners. As for the meal, even more jaded than the environment. A burger which looked lost on the plate with miserly portioned and pitiful looking chips and a pot of coleslaw. It looked anaemic. How about some fresh salad, apart from what's in the burger bun to liven up the plate? Clueless. As for the sirloin steak, apparently it was like chewing shoe leather and we would probably still be there a week on if my friend tried to finish it. Apart from the very friendly female staff, this pub needs new management and a new chef with some imagination and culinary skills. Until then, I won't be back.

Welcoming, helpful and great food. We came late on a Sunday evening with a large group. Yet the staff were welcoming and helpful especially with the young children. The food was brilliant. Good portions and cooked to perfection.

Lovely pub, the staff were so friendly, it was my partners birthday so this was a special treat. We were in the garden it was so nice. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. The portions were generous also. We will definitely be back

Terrible service! I recently visited this restaurant for a weekday lunch, and it was a very disappointing experience. Despite there being plenty of staff around, they spent most of their time standing around chatting rather than attending to customers. The service was shockingly poor, with no real greeting when we arrived and no goodbye when we left. While the starter was quite good, the main course had clearly been left sitting under a heat lamp for too long. I had to ask for it because the staff were too busy talking to notice. It was clear that customer service was not a priority here. It feels like they’re just interested in taking your money, with little to no attention given to actually providing good service. Maybe it's better when they're busy, but I won't be going back to find out.

Fantastic hotel pub restaurant and very happy and friendly staff great hospitality can’t fault it all easy access for buses to and from Nottingham great room and fantastic WiFi plenty of plug sockets in room plugs and usb charging with sockets by bed and by kettle either side

Didn't purchase anything. Pub looked inviting however there didn't seem to be many staff and no menus visible. There were quite a few people there but we had time constraints and so didn't stay.

The food is really great. Unfortunately it's been let down by the service. It's no fault of the staff they just don't have enough staff.

This place is amazing the people here are polite the restaurant is clean and there is no racism they give you a reasonable amount of food for a reasonable price

I pass here while driving my bus for work and keep saying to my wife that we must go. Well we did we took my wife's mum on Friday the 13th of September for lunch. It was fabulous the young lady who greeted us and showed us to the table and took our order was very polite and helpful has was the rest of the staff who all we're very proud in their job. The food was absolutely delicious and very tasty. The interior and decor was lovely and the seating was great. There was nothing I can say that you could improve. The menu had a great selection of food. So keep up the great work. Has my £5 tip was worth giving to show how much we enjoyed it. would we be back most definitely will. Thank you for a lovely meal and a fantastic dinning experience.

Not very child friendly.. sat by the door an noticed you was fully booked or only tables available outside when children was in the party but had plenty of tables (without bookings) inside when there was no children present. Found it quite funny how the whole pub is decorated in child themed events taking place to make money at Christmas but the other 11 months, you ain't child friendly 🤦‍♀️

Reasonable choice of beer and comfortable when I went for a quiet lunch on a Monday afternoon, though service could be a little slow at times. My food was fine, but the beer was expensive compared to my similar local only two miles away. Don't expect any soap in the toilets. They are effectively a restaurant, yet I asked twice for them to refill the empty soap dispenser in the Gents, but they didn't bother. They cited that they were too busy, despite the pub (in mid-afternoon) being nearly empty! However, it's sadly normal for pubs in Nottingham to believe that soap is a luxury in pubs and even restaurants in loos! Councils perhaps don't enforce this health issue, despite recently coming out of Covid!

Lovely bar / restaurant staff are lovely food is really good I recommend the pie! and it’s nice to sit inside or outside for a drink they have really nice outdoor seating

We stayed for a night last weekend, checked in, dropped our bags and left. On our return late in the evening we noticed that the window had been left open and the room had quite a few bugs in it including mosquitoes. I called to let them know and was met with a very defensive general manager who told me no one else had complained and so I asked why that made my complaint less valid. No answer just said again that no one else had mentioned it and that the cleaners left the windows open to air the rooms. You can spend a night on a campsite if you want to wake up to bugs and bites, it’s too expensive for that and room generally grubby. Cancelled my next booking. Very unimpressed.

Gamston lock is a very nice restaurant. If you want good food with welcoming staff, and at a reasonable price, then this is for you.
