Good Morning, I attended your shop with my children on Saturday 15/10/22 and one of your store assistants measured their feet and fitted their boots. I brought my kids in socks and their crocs for ease. I believed they were trained and skilled professionals so I had no reason to doubt their advice. I was told her size was a 5.5 and that the boots at size 6 gave growing room. I purchased the boots. I forgot to order slippers so I ordered next day delivery from next online, the same size, they came 16/10/22 and on fitting them I found they were too small. I was shocked and confused, but assumed different brand, different fit but I thought I had better check, I then got the boots out of the box and tried them on my daughter to find they were also too small. I then checked her shoes that she usually wears and I was shocked to find they were the same size, size 6! I am at work so I asked my mum to immediately return to the shop today 17/10 to ask for a refund as we have lost all confidence in your shops ability to fit shoes, to be informed that you do not permit refunds and it is an exchange or credit note only! We have taken the credit note but I am disgusted that on shoes that are fitted by one of your staff members that you do not permit refunds when the error is on your staffs ability to fit shoes. I have made a formal complaint.

Unfortunately Petits, which was previously one of the best shops in Mexborough has gone into decline with the rest of the town. The shop sells mainly out dated clearance merchandise. The better off in Mexborogh seem to have deserted this shop and now they cater for the less well off among us. However, there is a particular member of staff who has worked there a number of years who still feels obliged to look you up and down when you walk through the door and eye you with complete and utter disdain. She makes you feel so uncomfortable, staring and following you around as if you are likely to steal a shoe (there is only one of a pair on display) that you feel you have to leave before you say something that you may regret. She obviously prefers the better off clientele so maybe it would be a good idea for her to transfer to the shop that they have in Beverly and allow some of us to shop in peace.

Two of us went for an early Christmas lunch. The food was fine but the service was poor. Waited 20 minutes for starters while 2 other parties that came after us were served. Then waited again for mains and again for sweets after having to tell the waitress 3 or 4 times what we wanted. Chocolate fudge cake not warm as requested but freezing cold. Sent back to be heated. Would I go again? NO

Went today with a friend. I ordered tea and she ordered coffee. The coffee was cold and so my friend requested another. After she had eaten her meal the coffee still hadn't arrived so she asked again. No apology. Coffee came in a dirty cup. Obviously some coffee had been poured out and had run down the cup. I ordered gammon but was told they didn't have any...no apology so I ordered lasagna...disgusting. Never seen anything like it before! It came on a flat plate not a dish. It was a small rectangle of pasta with very little mince inside. No white sauce in it and no white sauce topping but it was absolutely smothered in melted greasy red cheese. Yak. It said it came with side salad, 1 lettuce leaf, piece of tomato and grated carrot. It should also have come with crispy bread but that was never brought by the waitress. I waited a while then went and asked for it. Again no apology. Wouldn't go again and it was grossly overpriced too.

Pettits shoe shop has been in mexborough for many many years. The history behind the business is so interesting. Their shoes are quality and different to the chain shop offerings. Women's shoes to die for. Men's shoes exceptional. Children's shoes legend. The staff are so helpful. There is a register to be informed about future events and pre sales days for members. While visiting pettits you just have to visit the renowned cafe. A quick snack a beautiful dessert or a full meal. Christmas and special occasion deals with wine available. Customers travel extensively for this experience. It a one off shop that's not been replicated. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

We found this lovely tearoom by asking a local where we could eat. Walk through the shoe shop and up the stairs to discover this amazingly good restaurant. Seating is nicely spaced and the whole café is very clean. Staff are fantastic and service excellent. The menu is good choices and we soon had our lunches. We had a toasted sarnie which came with salad and a tuna salad which came wih bread and butter. Other ishes looked just as tempting as they passed our vision. What a fantastic and generous plate of food we both had. So nicelt presented and so very delicious. This is a superb tearoom and the staff are absolutely fabulous. A very big thank you to all the staff who are doing a wonderful job. The food, service and your style...just perfect. If we are ever down your way again we will certainly revisit. We called here on our way to attend our nieces wedding and was on route to the Best Weston at Pastures Road. Thank you girls our visit to your tearoom was superb. Rita & Graham from Lincolnshire.

This is a nice average cafe above a lovely shoe shop. They sell your average type cafe food and although the food was pleasant (not outstanding) the coffee (latte) was far too weak. We did mention this are were told we should have asked for an extra shot, which we would no doubt have had to pay for. We had an omelette and a baked potato and were surprised how expensive this cost. This might have been tolerated when they were the only game in town, but there are now some much better alternatives.

I was disappointed on my last visit. Having been a customer from the opening, the quiche was undercooked and soggy, running into the salad. Waitress said it was because it was hot and had just come out of the oven. I may look stupid, but I was not accepting the explanation. This cafe is not cheap. I was not offered anything else or a reduction. Pettits cannot live on a reputation anymore.

There are two reasons to visit this Landmark in Mexborough, the shoe shop has been serving the local area for over 150years and is still run by descendants of the founder. If you want get shoes, friendly knowledgable staff then look no further, after browsing the shoe selection take a trip upstairs to the coffeeshop. This is a traditional coffee/tea shop, waitress service and a great selection of home made food, yes I said home made. We had breakfast full English perfectly cooked bacon and sausages, they also serve lunches and on Sunday a traditional roast with full trimmings, a great selection of Cakes Quiches and home made Scones. These aren't high street prices either with a Sunday lunch at a lot less than £7 it's a bargain not to be missed. There is parking at the rear of the shop and a public car park opposite. Maybe its time to give up the Costa and Starbucks and get real coffee at a business that pays its taxes in the UK.

hadn't been here for a couple of years so as we were in the area for an appointment my friend and I decided to give it a try. When we went in we were told we could take any table, after quite a wait we called a waitress over to take our order, she said as we were sat at a "dirty" table they thought we had eaten. Came back after clearing the table, I asked for cheese scone and was told they were in the freezer if I didn't mind they could be warmed in the microwave. I declined as scones are best eaten fresh. I asked for soup of the day , tomato, when it came it was very glutinous, salty and obviously made from a powder. I couldn't eat it and to be fair was told they wouldn't charge me for that. I had a pot of tea which was like dishwater , had half a cup and left the rest. The supposedly amended bill came but was exactly the same as the original so I had to go up and explain about the soup to the cashier. All in all a disaster and we won't be going back. Shame as over the years I have been a lot and enjoyed it. They need to ditch the microwave and get a chef and an oven !

Having been twice before we decided to go again after the afternoon at the theatre. At 5pm it was rowdy and the service was terrible. It was full of groups doing bottomless brunch. Not a suitable place for a family to dine. The swearing and behaviour was terrible and the restaurant didn’t do anything to control it or to keep families separate. Waited 15 mins to order drinks and another 10 mins is for them to be served. Amongst other things we ordered king prawns in shells… no napkins, no finger bowl. We had to ask twice for a napkin. Meanwhile our prawns went cold. We also ordered a pasta dish with chicken. The chicken didn’t come. So had to ask for that. When it arrived I’d finished the pasta and was left with chicken. We ordered two aperol spritz - they tasted like soda with hardly any aperol and certainly no Prosecco. They did correct them and they were then nice - but it’s not that hard to make a nice aperol. Service was slow on top of the mishaps. The staff are all barely out of school and just don’t care. One positive was that the food was nice. I wouldn’t return unless they sorted the staff out as I think this is what the issues boil down to. The staff they’ve chosen and the lack of management is going to unfortunately ruin the reputation of this nice restaurant. Rethink the bottomless brunch/decide what you want to be. You can’t be both a nice classy restaurant and offer bottomless brunch - not at least without separating the two and having some noise control.
