Helpful and pleasent staff, even under pressure. Food although simple was tasty and good value

Beautiful place and cafe. Only trouble was after visiting the cafe last week I was ill on my way home. This could be because the lady serving the drinks put her fingers inside my cup when she picked it up. Wasn't anything I'd eating as I didn't have any breakfast .

A pesar de decir 'nunca más' después de nuestra última visita decidimos dar a este lugar otra oportunidad - gran error! Teníamos a nuestro perro con nosotros, así que tuvimos que sentarnos en la casa de autobuses que hacía frío, aunque después de haber visto a la gente en el café principal con sus abrigos probablemente no éramos más fríos que ellos. La comida era muy cara y no era buena, servida por personal muy joven sin duda con salario mínimo que no han enseñado ninguna habilidad de hospitalidad. En cuanto a la mujer detrás del mostrador, no merece el negocio. Fue grosera con una señora mayor frente a mí que tenía dificultades para entenderla, no es de extrañar que su personal no tiene habilidades de hospitalidad!

Preciosa cafetería con mucha variedad para todos. Encantadora ubicación y se puede comer / beber dentro o fuera. Recomendar una visita 👍

Fantástico lugar apto para perros para pasear y luego tomar comida o bebida, tuvimos un buen desayuno y en otra ocasión nos sentamos afuera y tomamos café, tuvimos un gran servicio en ambas ocasiones

I have never ever had a worse experience in my entire 41 years. The woman who owns this cafe is absolutely out of control. What I experienced today was beyond belief.We were a party of 9 people with three young kids. We were told off for moving two tables closer together. Then we all ordered our food and drinks which took ages as the place was busy. My 11year old was sat eating a pizza he got from the pizza place next door and the drink from the cafe and we had our food. I had my one month old in one arm and three year old on my knee and the owner of the cafe walks up to my 11 year old and starts having a real go at him for eating the pizza from next door. She said he had to leave if he was eating the pizza so basically a child had to leave our party and eat on his own else where despite the fact we had all spent a fortune on food from her cafe and my 11 year old was having a drink bought from her cafe too. When my child said sorry I always eat my pizza in here when my mum and dad have their food she went bonkers basically calling us liars in front of a packed cafe. It was beyond humiliating. I had two kids on my knee and my other child was getting shouted at. If we had sat in her cafe eating food from else where or our own food fair enough but we were a party of 9 all eating her food and the kids wanted a bit of pizza from next door. She was really really aggressive, when we tried to diffuse the situation she was not having it. The level of aggression was really frightening especially directed towards a child. Sadly she is a private business not a council employee otherwise I would have taken my complaint all the way to the top. Having read the other reviews on here this is clearly an ongoing issue. The woman should not be in a public facing role she is aggressive and has anger issues. Literally everything is a problem for her.

El personal era grosero y poco profesional y el café era horrible. La comida estaba bien, pero nada que escribir a casa. No volvería a visitar.

The setting is lovely. Staff were clearly very busy and trying their best but the older (possibly owner?) behind the bar was rude and I felt my custom was in no way appreciated. The food was average but a nice place to go for a walk.

Been visiting for years and it's unfailingly a brilliant experience...great food, lovely people and dog friendly.

This is a beautiful little spot in a very pretty spot. The food was really reasonably priced and tasty. Was an off chance after the parkrun.

Came in for lunch after a walk around the lake - 2 chorizo panini, 2 pots of breakfast tea and 2 water bottles came to £23 - quick service and some lovely cakes that we didn't have stomach room for

The people that run the establishment are rude if it wasn’t for where they are located they would not have a business. Manners are free lots of people in the dog house said the same and lots of people have stopped going because of rude staff. There was a few of us never use it again.

Absolutely love this place. Food is amazing atmosphere and surroundings just lovely. Staff very good efficient friendly and nothings too much trouble.

Food was lovely along with the cakes. Warned us that food might be a little longer which was no problem at all. It actually came out earlier than we thought and was really nice. Good location and nice inside. The younger staff were lovely but I think the older owner of the cafe was there who seemed very miserable. A few people made comments, it was like people going there was an inconvenience for her. Seemed to put the younger staff on edge too which was a shame. But I'd deffos reccomend after having a walk around the grounds.

The owner is rude grunting at a old couple that can’t open the door that gets stuck why not get the door sorted won’t be calling again

Lovely Scones and cake and amazing coffee,the reception at first was a little cold but I think she then realised and became a bit more engaging,would definitely recommend

Served the worst ploughman's I have ever had. All the salad/veg was dry. Tiniest pork pie I have ever seen. Single slice of poor quality ham. Bread roll barely baked and looked like it was from a supermarket. Cheese was very mild with no flavour. Very disappointed and will not be coming back.

Sirvió el peor arado que he tenido. Toda la ensalada/vegetal estaba seca. El pastel de cerdo más pequeño que he visto. Una sola rebanada de jamón de mala calidad. Rollo de pan apenas horneado y parecía que era de un supermercado. El queso era muy suave sin sabor. Muy decepcionado y no va a volver.

Great cooked breakfast, cold coffee, snappy and miserable staff that served us , milk jug spilled by the person waiting on our table, no apology and he huffed and puffed like it was our fault, not good sitting with trousers milk soaked. Please note it was not the person who spilt the milk who was snappy and miserable it was the person from whom took our order inside the cafe.

Love this place. Beautiful setting and wonderful food. The dog room is a brilliant idea. Ideally located next to Cusworth Hall.

Coffee is terrible, food is standard, but the setting is nice. Incompetent, argumentative staff and an owner that can't accept when something isn't quite right and can't understand simple requests. We had a laughable experience on our recent visit and I nearly didn't review, however seeing the other reviews I'm clearly not the only one who thinks they need a reality check.

This is a lovely little cafe with plenty of choice in teas which is always a plus point. Two choices for indoor seating and two choices for outdoor too depending on if you want sun or shade.

Went there today, had the best cheese and onion toastie ever, I go there often and have coffee and cake, but today went for lunch, will do so again

What a great place to eat and drink. Great baked potatoes and ploughman's and lovely coffees. Prompt efficient service.

Hemos estado aquí muchas, muchas veces durante la última década - generalmente tarde en la mañana los sábados - y siempre ha sido una experiencia encantadora. El personal es muy amable y servicial y la comida es magnífica ... recién cocinada, excelente calidad y sabrosa. También es económico y perro - amigable con un poco de interior para thrm si está lloviendo o hace frío.

1 star more than id like to give!! Staff are rude and unhelpful. Asking people to move but clearly cannot use manners. Please wouldn't go a miss. Staff are much nicer in the courtyard where you get drinks/pizza.

Paramos para almorzar en el camino a casa en Escocia. A pesar de no estar muy ocupados, nos dijeron que sería una espera de 30 minutos para la comida, que no nos importó. ¡Sin embargo, tomó una hora conseguir nuestros sandwhates calientes y comidas para niños! El blt y el panini estaban bien, pero la salchicha y el puré de los niños incluían sólo 1 salchicha, puré de mostaza (¿qué niños les gusta la mostaza? Y no agregarían salsa. Los frijoles de los niños en tostadas era 1 rebanada de pan y 2 cucharadas de frijoles - apenas lo suficiente para un niño pequeño, nunca para un niño de 9 años. Mi hija pidió queso encima y nos cobraron £ 2. 75 por una olla pequeña de queso. Muy, muy caro. La casa, los jardines y el parque de juegos eran geniales, pero el servicio extremadamente lento y los artículos de sobreprecio me pospondría el regreso.

Visitamos esta mañana para desayunar que persona tan grosera y arrogante es el dueño sin habilidades de hospitalidad y todo por una olla de té. Sí 1 Bolsa de té había una falta de comunicación en cuanto a cuándo queríamos el té y su actitud era terrible. Nunca volvería a visitar y definitivamente no recomendaría. Placed an order today 17th July 2024 and the order was placed on a tray and I paid for it without any problems. Once outside I realised there was a can of fanta missing so I went in to rectify the problem. The owner was quite obnoxious about the fact she misheard my request for the can of pop and wouldn't accept any responsibility for the order being wrong. To confound the problem she kept repeating I didn't order said item so it was a really kind and a wonderful gesture when the lady behind me offered to pay for the fanta at a cost of £1.90 because I refused to buy it because as I'd already purchased my order the owner wanted me to pay the excess for using my card as my order was under £5. The lady who offered to buy my fanta came over to our table when we got outside and reiterated that indeed I had clearly asked for fanta and the owner was indeed wrong. The fact the fanta was missed was not an issue but the attitude and behavior from the owner was quite appalling and to be honest I for one will not darken her door again.

When I asked for another butter please, a woman dumped on the table in front on me, margarine. I picked up her offering and took it back to the counter and asked her if I could now have another butter please. This time I got butter, but what bad customer service that she behaved in such a manner. I won't be back.

Love the 'dog house' where you can sit inside with your dog!!

An absolute gem of a little cafe run by a very grumpy lady who serves on her own (not the one in the other reviews pictures). Come on Cusworth employ someone else to help her so her customer service can improve.

Went to Butlers Tea Room after a dog walk around Cutsworth Gardens, we sat in the dog area, waited 20 minutes to be served one person serving, making the hot drinks (even though he had to put a cup under a machine and press a button) and taking the money 💰 whilst young girls stood there waiting for something to do.

The three of us had the ham toastie which we had to wait 20 minutes and it didn't seem like a busy time. By the time it came our hot drinks were cold. The meat was wafer thin processed ham and it was burnt around the edges. The salad was just a mush of lettuce, a very small tomato and a piece of cucumber. Very disappointed.

Enjoy every visit here, fantastic care helping me with my food intolerances. Good coffee and food. Since we got our dog, we've taken advange of the 'dog house' an inside dog friendly space

If you visit Cusworth Hall you must go to the cafe for refreshment, it would be irresponsible not to. Lovely food and very pleasant staff.

We took our dogs for a walk at Cusworth and called for a coffee n scone.lovely scone with jam and clotted cream but thought £14:10 was a tad steep for an afternoon treat .

We had a nice brew in the dog area of the cafe, a lovely little place. Their cake selection is gorgeous.

Quirky cafe with rustic furniture . Good range of food , and great looking cakes. Reco.mend the pulled pork. Despite it being a very wet daytime cafe was very busy.

We ve been here several times over last few years - sometimes for lunch, sometimes just coffee and cake- this time we had Welsh Rarebit and a drink. It was really delicious - could really taste the beer, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. It was a very busy afternoon and the place isn’t enormous but managed to get seated after a short wait. Another review mentioned it was cold - yes i noticed it was when people left the door open but a young male staff member was keeping an eye out and quickly closed it whenever that happened. All in all a lovely visit and we ll definately he back again.

Very nice cafe in Cusworth Park. We often have coffee and cake there.

Always pop in when we go to cusworth, full of character, in keeping with the surroundings, great hot chocolate with a dissarrano in it and really nice browney, what more can I say 😋

Cold! The food is fresh & nice… however when all the customers are sat in coats.. does it not suggest that people are cold! Please make it cosy! Also I think the one toilet needs a lot of TLC.. cold, old & grubby… no hot water.. especially when try to stop germs spreading..

Awful- Rude-Unprofessional Arrived with a large party incl. 2 elderly (in their 80s) and a small cavapoo. After we have settled down at their biggest table when a male staff approached us and asked us to leave as they only allow dogs next door. We politely got our things together and tried to move to next door when realised there is no space. Having made a long journey we waited in the cold for a bit more than 10min when two family move to one table to give us space seeing the elderlies are being cold. After settled in the other room, gone back to make pur drink and food order when we noticed 3 families sitting in the same place with dogs where we were preciously asked to leave. I didn’t want to make a scene so just went closer to the guy whom asked us to leave and asked him to explain his action towards us. He rudely said he cant make people sit outside if the next door room is full… i mentioned that it was also full when he asked us to leave when the owner lady started shouting at me in the most disrespectful way… i couldn’t believe to my ears… if i would have been alone i would have just left immediately but we 100% never will return.

Will never use this place again even though I live on the door step . The owner is rude arrogant and less than helpful. Have had two episodes with her , have given her chance after chance . Done now .

What a wonderful experience. The building is historical with original flooring. So very English and quirky. The menu choices are fab with plenty of cakes and refreshments. The Staff are amazing, so very attentive.

Always like to pop in to Butlers when visiting Cusworth Hall, lovely fresh food and always a smiling welcome. Would be rude not to have a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

Stopped for breakfast after visiting parkrun on Saturday. Bit of a queue as it was busy, but after a little wait we managed to get a table outside. Breakfast arrived quickly, was warm and tasty.

Called for a latte when it finally got to me it was atrocious it was so strong I could not drink it I asked the male waiter for some fresh water for my dog he was very abrupt with me and he walked away he was not interested in getting any water for my dog ant it was 24 degrees I will not go there again

Wonderful little cafe in the grounds of Cusworth Hall. Seating under a gazebo, within the cafe itself or in an off-shot room called “The Dog House”. ( Dog friendly) Delicious coffee and lovely Friendly service , would highly recommend a visit .

Lovely, friendly staff. Cosy, historic tearooms. Good range of hot and cold drinks, licensed too. Gingerbread green tea was rather nice. Reasonable menu with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options available. Would revisit.

Provided the very,very best Birthday experience. Afternoon tea was fantastic plentiful ,dainty food,thoughtfully arranged on a tiered stand,tea served in a china pot with matching cups and saucers. An all-round excellent service in wonderful suroundings. On an extremely rainy day ,the sun shone inside Butler's Tea Room.

First time here on a recommendation. Early Sunday afternoon. Lovely place, nice outdoor seating, but didn't eat. Big queue for food, and never moved for ages. Hope it's a one off glitch.

, Nice place. Good food. Not very accommodating. Their breakfast deadline is 11.45am that is when you get to the counter. Not when you join the que. So when you get to the counter after queuing for twenty minutes don't expect to get to order off the breakfast menu. Only grilled food so you will still get a sausage or bacon sandwich but forget eggs etc. If you want your water bottle filling they will ask you to come back when they are not busy. So good luck with that. Too busy on a Sunday to have good customer service. Disabled toilet does not have a functional lock on the door. There are other toilets across the courtyard. There is a kiosk selling hot drinks and pitza round the corner as an alternative Venue.

We as a cycling club visit many Cafe's around Yorkshire, this is another little gem. We'll worth a visit in my opinion.

First time riding with my cycling club, stopped for some light refreshments at Butlers Tea Room. Lovely Staff, a really nice selection of cakes food was great, definantly be going again.

The lentil cottage pie is something else!!! Plenty of gluten free options and allergens well marked. It's very busy, don't want to be in a rush, atmosphere could be a little better if the staff would smile and be a bit more pleasant but they do look rushed off their feet and the food speaks for itself. Spent 30 pounds on Lunch, the ploughmans was very well presented. I like it, especially the tea cups and saucers. 30 pounds a lot??? It was a lovely treat and there are lots of little snacks, well worth it as it was a delightful little trip out.

3:50pm so ten minutes before closing time the miserable women (manager?) decided it was early closing time and refused to serve us a cup of tea. On Mother’s Day as well what an old grump. Arguing with my wife for calling her “love” in front of the entire tea restaurant just because she wanted to get home early - my feedback “the customer is always right - if you want to stay in businesses and we didn’t appreciate the miserable attitude”

Waited nearly 15 minutes just to be served drinks, really disappointing. The tea rooms themselves looked dirty with loads of cobwebs evident. Not nearly as clean and well presented as the previous owners 😒
