Went to Butlers Tea Room after a dog walk around Cutsworth Gardens, we sat in the dog area, waited 20 minutes to be served one person serving, making the hot drinks (even though he had to put a cup under a machine and press a button) and taking the money 💰 whilst young girls stood there waiting for something to do.

The three of us had the ham toastie which we had to wait 20 minutes and it didn't seem like a busy time. By the time it came our hot drinks were cold. The meat was wafer thin processed ham and it was burnt around the edges. The salad was just a mush of lettuce, a very small tomato and a piece of cucumber. Very disappointed.

We ve been here several times over last few years - sometimes for lunch, sometimes just coffee and cake- this time we had Welsh Rarebit and a drink. It was really delicious - could really taste the beer, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. It was a very busy afternoon and the place isn’t enormous but managed to get seated after a short wait. Another review mentioned it was cold - yes i noticed it was when people left the door open but a young male staff member was keeping an eye out and quickly closed it whenever that happened. All in all a lovely visit and we ll definately he back again.

Yet another visit this morning for an excellent Butler's breakfast for both of us (with extra sausages to share with the three doggies!). Food is unfailingly brilliant and we love our walkies at this beautiful place and the unofficial Saturday morning 'doggie club' on the field behind the house afterwards. Beautiful sunny morning too...an added bonus although it was a tad chilly!

Awful- Rude-Unprofessional Arrived with a large party incl. 2 elderly (in their 80s) and a small cavapoo. After we have settled down at their biggest table when a male staff approached us and asked us to leave as they only allow dogs next door. We politely got our things together and tried to move to next door when realised there is no space. Having made a long journey we waited in the cold for a bit more than 10min when two family move to one table to give us space seeing the elderlies are being cold. After settled in the other room, gone back to make pur drink and food order when we noticed 3 families sitting in the same place with dogs where we were preciously asked to leave. I didn’t want to make a scene so just went closer to the guy whom asked us to leave and asked him to explain his action towards us. He rudely said he cant make people sit outside if the next door room is full… i mentioned that it was also full when he asked us to leave when the owner lady started shouting at me in the most disrespectful way… i couldn’t believe to my ears… if i would have been alone i would have just left immediately but we 100% never will return.

, Nice place. Good food. Not very accommodating. Their breakfast deadline is 11.45am that is when you get to the counter. Not when you join the que. So when you get to the counter after queuing for twenty minutes don't expect to get to order off the breakfast menu. Only grilled food so you will still get a sausage or bacon sandwich but forget eggs etc. If you want your water bottle filling they will ask you to come back when they are not busy. So good luck with that. Too busy on a Sunday to have good customer service. Disabled toilet does not have a functional lock on the door. There are other toilets across the courtyard. There is a kiosk selling hot drinks and pitza round the corner as an alternative Venue.

It's very busy, don't want to be in a rush, atmosphere could be a little better if the staff would smile and be a bit more pleasant but they do look rushed off their feet and the food speaks for itself. Spent 30 pounds on Lunch, the ploughmans was very well presented. I like it, especially the tea cups and saucers. 30 pounds a lot??? 3:50pm so ten minutes before closing time the miserable women (manager?) decided it was early closing time and refused to serve us a cup of tea. On Mother’s Day as well what an old grump. Called in with family after a walk for a coffee and a cake. One of our party opted for the Ploughmans which was poor quality in terms of the amount on offer and taste. We had to buy a 2nd roll to bulk it out. Other food which included a toastie and scone were OK. Milkshakes were the sort you would get out of a carton and just poured into a glass @ £2.50 ea. Overall wasn't the best experience which is a shame. May stick to tea and a scone next time.

Every time I’ve been here the experience hasn’t been the best. The queue is always so long and the staff food wait has been long (last time I went (last Saturday) the girl who served me was really nice and efficient so not her!). I paid a small visit with the hubby today for a quick brunch and overall I’m just not impressed, The potential this beautiful cafe has is unreal! Yet unfortunately it’s lacking so much, nothing wrong personally with any of the staff members however I feel as though they are too casual and not professional at all, do the staff members get actual training on how to work with customers? the way the young woman and man answered me when I asked if we had to book a table was completely irresponsible and just down right rude, Also the bbq melt was not very flavourful or warm? I’m not sure if this is how you serve your food but I was a bit confused. I’m sorry to have to leave this review For such a lovely place but it’s just not good enough.. cmon guys..

I have often visited this cafe in the Autumn/winter months and enjoyed a homemade soup however today had a very different experience. My friend and I both queued for 15 mins just to make the order. It was a lovely sunny day so we looked for a few table outside and eventually got one. We were very disappointed with the baked potato as it was lukewarm and the salad was a third of what we were expecting for the price! At a cafe so popular we wondered why you couldn’t also make waiter service a priority.

We visit Cusworth Park a few times per year and always have something to eat in the tea room and the food is fine. The waiting staff are mainly young teens and generally speaking they do a decent job. However, the customer service skills of the blond woman who takes orders, prepares drinks etc. leaves a lot to be desired. I was queuing to order and the 2 ladies before me wanted to order cakes. None of the cakes had a label identifying them and when they queried what each was the woman behind the counter could barely disguise her irritation. It would not be difficult to label them if she can't be bothered to identify them.

After a stroll around the lake at Cusworth Park, my hubby, youngest daughter, our dog and I called at Butler's Tea Rooms. We ordered hot chocolates (with all the extras), plus chocolate cookies and dog treats for our pooch, then sat outside at a table under the gazebo. The staff are very friendly and chatty. The hot chocolate and cookies just the ticket, and our dog loved his treats. There is a good selection of beverages and food on offer. Seating is available inside too, and the atmosphere is very quaint. It wasn't particularly busy, as we went mid week, but weekends can be quite busy. (Just be aware the carpark ticket machines are now cash-less, so you'll need a credit or debit card to pay for your parking ticket) Cusworth Park is an ideal place to spend an hour or so walking around the lake/grounds, and then finish off at Butler's. Highly recommendable.

Cheese sandwich advertised as having a vegan option available but when I asked one of the staff if they had vegan cheese they replied no.. so I'm unsure how there is a vegan option. This place could be so much nicer but it just lacks. The staff are mostly all very young teenagers and tbh they're a bit useless. They just stand awkwardly and I understand its probably their first job but they just don't interact with customers at all. I saw one woman stood near the bar holding an empty, dirty glass.. she was obviously bringing it back to the bar to save the staff clearing it off the table and one of the young waitresses was just stood directly in front of her staring at her? They just need a bit more training. The food is OK, but the coffee is awful due to them not having a proper coffee machine, it's all just done by pressing a button so no option for plant based milk drinks etc.
