Came here with not very high expectations reading the reviews, still I felt I needed to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The dishes were amazing. Flavors and ingredients combined on a way to tease your senses. Not much to add, just it is worth to try. Stuff was very attentive and kind.

Having eaten at Gordon Ramsay's flagship restaurant in Chelsea (which is faultless) , we returned to Petrus which is as good in our opinion instead for a family birthday dinner. We all had different tasting menus which were adventurous but absolutely delicious. The truffle ice cream is to die for! The service was not just faultless, but warm at the same time. Delphine in particular was delightful and informative. This really is a special restaurant. We hope to be back soon.

We all chose the Prestige menu which did not disappoint. I have a nut allergy which they catered for brilliantly, nothing was too much bother for them. The honey parfait was out of this world. We went for dinner and I was not impressed. The greeting & service was good, although they have you waiting about 25 minutes after each course, so it’s a very long dinner. I’m like to not be rushed, but it took a long time between the courses. The food was not exciting in any way. I think I can make more tasteful chicken & scallops at home in my own kitchen. Their dover sole is cooked sous vide and it was tasteless. It’s very expensive and not worth it in my opinion.

Not sure why this restaurant has so many high reviews. This was by far the most disappointing Michelin restaurant I have visited - for £400+ I expected better. For me the food was subpar at best. However the service was good but I would save your money and go elsewhere.

Just back from a trip to Petrus. It’s a mixed bag. Decor wise it really does feel like you’re going back in time to the 1980’s, all carpeted floors, draped tables and leather chairs - I was half expecting Tony Montana to be smoking a cigar in a sunken bathtub in the middle of the room (it’s actually inhabited by an impressive rotunda of wine). It was Friday lunch for us and the staff outnumbered the guests; the staff were great - particularly our lead waiter who had a surprising amount of good banter for a restaurant like this. The sommelier was also lovely and very knowledgeable; the bottle of wine she chose us was delicious. The food; what can I say? Aside from the spelt which to be honest I just don’t believe can ever be made to taste that special, it was delicious. Everything we ate tasted amazing; the lobster raviolo was divine, the bread delicious, the Dover sole amazing, the cheese platter a highlight - really top notch. But even for fine dining these portions are SMALL. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I’m home and in the process of ordering a pizza because I’m really not remotely full. I don’t think this would be a problem if the meal hadn’t cost upwards of £500 for 2 people; we really don’t mind paying for amazing food - we do it a lot - but for this kind of money I do want to be full when I leave. The starter was literally 1 raviolo (the size of a normal one, not an exceptionally large one or anything) and the sole honestly was a rectangle 1 inch by 2 inches, with a piece of broccoli. It tasted amazing, we just needed 3 x more of it! So honestly would I recommend it? No… for this kind of price range you can find better - I loved our waiter and we had such fun and I’m glad we went, but I won’t be going back.

I’ve wrote enough poor reviews when something isn’t right, this isn’t going to be one of those. Petrus has a reputation to live up to, and it certainly does that. Gordon Ramsay’s Pétrus, situated in the heart of London, is a beacon of culinary excellence, setting the standard for fine dining in the city. From the moment one steps into the elegantly appointed dining room, it becomes evident that this experience will be nothing short of extraordinary. The ambiance at Pétrus is a seamless blend of sophistication and warmth. The restaurant’s interior, with its striking wine cellar at the core, creates a luxurious yet inviting atmosphere. This setting is perfect for those special occasions when only the best will do, or even for a discerning diner seeking an exceptional meal in a relaxed environment. What truly sets Pétrus apart, however, is its impeccable service. The staff exemplify professionalism and hospitality, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and discretion. From the moment you are welcomed at the door, the team at Pétrus ensures every detail is attended to, making diners feel both valued and pampered. Their knowledge of the menu and the wine list is impressive, providing tailored recommendations that enhance the dining experience significantly. The culinary offerings at Pétrus are nothing short of spectacular, with each dish reflecting Gordon Ramsay’s signature innovation and finesse. The menu is a celebration of the best of British and French cuisines, with every ingredient thoughtfully sourced and every plate meticulously presented. The flavours are complex yet harmonious, showcasing a level of craftsmanship that can only be achieved by a kitchen operating at the peak of its powers. There was no way the staff could have known the tough week we had both had, there was a potential of a Michelin star restaurant to be stuffy and pretentious, this is far from that. The whole experience had the ability to completely change our mood any energise us for the weeks ahead. In conclusion, Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay is not just a restaurant; it is an institution that epitomises the pinnacle of gastronomic excellence. The combination of its welcoming and professional staff, sublime cuisine, and elegant ambiance makes it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to indulge in London’s finest dining experience. Whether for a special occasion or a culinary adventure, Pétrus promises an unforgettable journey through taste, service, and sophistication. Genuinely thank you for giving my wife and I the perfect evening.

A “flatter to deceive,” Gordon Ramsey effort I’m afraid! Food was ok, but certainly nothing more and there was little concern shown when I pointed out that the red wine jus on my beef was over seasoned. To be fair, the jus on my wife’s duck (and the duck itself) was good. Sometimes the food just doesn’t work for you and I can accept that my potential culinary view is more subjective than that of the head chef, whose profession this is. What I can’t accept, is a men’s bathroom that smelt like a pub in Charing Cross Road on a Saturday night and a maitre d who, when I spoke to him about it at the end of dinner, vehemently maintained that it’s not their fault, “as a lot of people used the facility and the staff can’t freshen it up etc (ie. clean it!) because of privacy reasons.” We actually ended up in an argument with him at our table, about toilet hygiene, with many other people listening on! Wow! We recently ate at Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, which admittedly is a two star Michelin gaff, but trust me, it’s worth the flight if the option is staying in town and eating at Petrus! PS We spent over £1000 on wine so we weren’t exactly limiting their margins eh? 🤦‍♂️🤣

Before I start I should mention that coming to one of Ramsay's restaurants was one of the big reasons I wanted to come to London. This was our first time in Europe and we choose London so that we could try food here. This was my first visit to a Michelin star restaurant. We were visiting from the US. We have been to most of Ramsay's restaurants there. So we were very excited to at a reservation. Here is what we thought. First I'll start with the service. So for the service the staff was very attentive and nice. They were at our attention for everything we needed. I did feel like I was being upsold throughout the meal. I didn't like that. The food was a mix. I had the discovery menu. My wife had the prestige menu. We both got the wine pairing. We just had the first level of wine. I am not a huge wine drinker but I did enjoy the wine pairing with the dishes. The person going through the wines was very knowledgeable but not pretentious. She explained where the wines were from and what made them unique. I really liked the wines that they picked out with the dishes. I would do The wine pairing again. For the food it was a bit more of a mix. The first couple of dishes were very good. They talked us into the truffle upcharge for a couple of dishes. I don't think it is worth it. It's 15 pounds a gram and they add about 3 grams. I definitely didn't feel it added 45 pounds of taste to the dishes. The eel chimchurri donut was my favorite thing I ate. I want one thinking about it right now. The first couple courses are probably only a couple bites or maybe one bite. The main courses were tasty but quite small. Maybe 2 ounces...maybe. The cheese plate was very good. I would do that again. I enjoyed all of the savory plates. I closed my eyes tasting them because it felt like I needed to to go through the many flavors all happening at the same time. When it came to the desserts I wasn't a fan. I do prefer savory dishes to sweet ones but these were not amazing. I really enjoy a a good dessert but these didn't hit the mark. They were unique but the flavors and textures did not make me want more. Had the meal not been so expensive I probably wouldn't have eaten them. If it was Al a carte I never would order it. And that brings me to the last and biggest issue. The portions are sooo small..I was still very hungry after dinner. I felt like going to eat. For spending close to a thousand dollars on dinner and drinks for 2 people that was a big let down. It was a cool experience but I don't know if I could recommend it.

Left feeling post purchase dissonance and underwhelmed. We have tried a few of Gordon’s restaurants, last year we did 1890 and decided on Petrus as a birthday surprise this year. We were the first ones to arrive for the 6pm reservation. Despite being first my Gucci handbag didn’t receive its own cushion like the other patrons. The service does not feel as special as 1890, I’m not sure if that because they were trying hard to receive their first star that they go the extra mile. You get a sense that even if you are intolerant to truffle or caviar that if you don’t purchase the upsales that they don’t seem as interested in you. The explanations of the tasting menus are sped through and once the main meal is finished you are left to the other waiting staff. Credit to the chef for the delicious meals, the favourite being the deer however the portions do seem smaller. They did a birthday card and a cake which was a lovely gesture, but you don’t feel the same as the Savoy where we left feeling so special. It’s a real shame but we won’t be returning.

My partner and I had the most wonderful experience tonight and I wanted to extend my gratitude. I took my partner to Petrus tonight for his birthday and it was the most incredible experience we have ever had. He is a huge fan of Gordon Ramsay (his brother is also a recovering addict so he resonates hugely with his story) and has always wanted to eat at one of his Michelin star restaurants, so this felt like the perfect gift. The first huge tick is the offer you have for petrus with the a la carte menu. This makes it so accessible. We’ve just bought our first home so money is tight and the fact we could enjoy this was a huge win. Obviously the food was amazing, that’s almost a given but what truly made this experience was the service. Your staff were outstanding. I felt like we looked quite obviously overwhelmed and excited by the whole thing and they embraced and indulged every second of that for us. At the end of the meal, the sweets brought out (macaroons, hazelnut tarte and the Madeleines) were the star of the show. Whilst my partner was in the toilet, I made a light hearted joke to the server that I hadn’t had the opportunity to try a madeleine, as my partner had ate them all due to them being his favourite cake ever. What I didn’t then expect was them to bring us out an entirely fresh set of baked madeleines to ensure I got to try some. When I say this made our evening, I cannot express how much more special this made everything. Not only did I get to try them, my partner also got to indulge again in what he has now describe as his favourite pudding ever (so much so he stashed half in his pocket to eat on our walk home!). Your service was incredible, your food was sublime and you made two very normal people feel so incredibly special and excited for an evening. Thank you for making his birthday so special and thank you for making Michelin dining so accessible. We will most definitely be returning in the near future. All the best Olivia and Liam

Not sure where to start with this review. Firstly, I had been here before at the chefs table over a year ago. I enjoyed it so much I brought my daughters/sister for a treat. We travel extensively and have experienced many amazing culinary experiences all over the world. This however was a terrible experience. Ramsay’s Michelin star is currently not warranted. In no particular order….service was poor, no explanation of dishes on the menu, no information as to what the food on the plate was (in fact most of the staff seemed mute), never asked if we were enjoying our meal or experience. Pressed for 15% (no obligation) tip on at least an 3 occasions. I gave a tip, but not 15%, and only because my sister felt we should not cause “a fuss” as she just wanted to leave. Restaurant itself, crockery and cutlery all seemed dated and uninspiring. Atmosphere completely lacking. Value…there was none…we spent £900. I left hungry and had to order room service when back at our hotel. Quality of dishes…average at best. We chose Al la carte. This turned out to be the same size plate for starter and main course as the same dish on the tasting menu! We were repeatedly offered bread. I imagine to make up for the tiny portions. If those plates had been rich and intense in flavour then they may have been sufficient, but they were not. They were uninspiring. A wine/drinks list was not offered to us to browse. An ipad with the wine list was not given to us, but held tightly by the server whilst she advised us what to have. I asked for a particular champagne, it was nice but massively overpriced. Lastly, my 3 guests had the same “main” dish. They all then suffered from severe stomach cramp and diarrhoea. One of my daughters is a doctor and absolutely felt this was related to the food served. If I could give no stars I would. So disappointed and would not return. Debated about giving such a negative review, but having looked I could find no way of giving the restaurant direct feedback and it was not sought on the day. If you want value and an amazing 2 Michelin star experience I recommend trying Moor Hall up here in Lancashire!! Knocks spots of Ramsays place.

We were last here for my birthday back in 2022 and boy has it improved. If you look at my reviews of places we have eaten at, you will see that we have been to some of the best restaurants in Europe. Pertus is one of the best. We noticed the the improvement in the food and the service since our last visit. Believe me, Petrus has been one of the best restaurants we have been to and it has improved a hell of a lot since we last came. Let me start with the service, it was lovely, from the moment we walked through the door. Attentive, but not too much. Explaining all the dishes in detail (standard for any good restaurant but very well done) The Sommelier, was very intrigued by our choice of wine and discussed the complexity of the wine and the grapes. We commented on a napkin configuration for one of the pre desserts, and the waiter showed us how it was made. The Food; the food was to die for. I actually hate that expression, but it was amazing. I had an extra courses of Caviar as a starter, which came with crispy waffles, an aleoni type cream an maple syrup. Devine! I think the syrup was a bit too much, but it was lovely. The most I have ever sent on caviar and worth every penny. We both had the taster menus and my wife Jane is a vegetarian. One of the best restaurants she has ever been to serving vegetarian food. She did share some with me , and her veggie, options were nearly as good as my carnivore options. Perfectly cooked venison, turbot, cheese board, port, cognac. we asked for the bill and the manager....... we had to tell him how much better this place was since we were last here. Matteo Baccanelli spoke to us for about twenty minutes about how the head cheff had changed about a year ago and brought about seven staff with him. Matteo had been here about eighteen months and had overseen many of the changes, mostly with the waiting staff and also stated that the restaurant was likely to undergo some décor changes this year. All in all , it was a lovely evening in a perfect restaurant.

Four of us ate at the Chef’s Table, downstairs in the kitchen. The food was sublime, the attention to detail top notch, and the overall experience was off the charts. Each chef took time to come to the table and explain/describe their particular dish, and we were even asked to sample a potential new dish, and offer honest feedback (which we did). In all there were 8 dishes, and whilst none, on their own, seemed substantial, we were all stuffed by the end. I couldn’t even eat the extra mini birthday ‘cake’ that had been made for me. The whole experience was elevated by our waiter Caine, (he was really more of a guide to the evening), who skilfully navigated us through the various courses, and kept us entertained throughout. His brand of slightly cheeky, yet highly professional charm merely added to the occasion, and ensured we were always looked after. I thoroughly recommend the Chef’s table, but be warned, it doesn’t come cheap. The wine list in particular has nothing even remotely cheap, but so long as you know that beforehand, then you shouldn’t be shocked. Hats off to all concerned for helping my guests and I enjoy a wonderful birthday celebration.

My group opted for the Discovery menu (£190) and the premium wine pairing (£190). Absolutely amazing food, every dish was remarkable and surprising. Really nothing else to say that other reviewers didn’t about food or wine. Aside from that, I simply cannot give 5 stars to the place when looking at the whole experience. The price tag creates the expectation of a perfect evening. It was not. First of all, one lady serving us didn’t seem particularly happy. Not sure why. My friend asked about a specific dish and her reply was: “it’s fish”. Everyone else was top notch. Besides that, it was uncomfortably cold inside. Some guests (not only from our table) had to remain using jackets and scarves. In no other London restaurant I had a similar feeling this week. Even worse: faucet water in the bathroom was freezing. Literally freezing. Zero heating. You can’t have a £400+ bill per person and consider ok freezing cold water in a tight and cramped bathroom. I’ve been to burger joints in London better equipped for the winter. I find it unacceptable.

Their food and venue speak for themselves, they don’t have to act like snobs to make you think they are good. Their food and service speaks for itself. Pétrus is no exception albeit even more so. Wine list was excellent value for money. Had an amazing Margaux for a price that was shockingly low for the caliber of restaurant. This wine list says they respect their guest. Don’t overlook that. Our server (Caine) was a perfect mix of professional, personable, and human. We had our 11 year old who is pretty well traveled and has a good palate and Caine engaged with him all night. As did the Som. Constant, attentive service without hovering. That is a hard thing to do and they did it flawlessly. We left wanting to take pictures with the staff and Caine was so genuine he took our son on a tour of the kitchen. Amazing evening and one we will never forget. *Contrast that* with our dinner at L’Atalier a few days later. At best, adequate to poor service. Aloof. Very poor end of the evening on new year’s eve. Pétrus was half the price but the food, service, and venue were four times better. Thank you to everyone there for an amazing evening!!!

This is our first time eating at a fine dining restaurant that offers 7-8 course meals, let alone a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. Service was incomparable and the courses were outstanding. The staff was kind, informative, and funny. The only criticism is how much wine by the glass that was poured. Given the extensive courses, a little more wine by the glass would have been nice. The cost of the dinner was half of our monthly mortgage, but certainly a bucket list experience. So pleased we had dinner here. Certainly willing to save for another dining experience.

In short it was a terrible experience. The food was just about ok. The staff were hit and miss and were constantly upselling. We found the Sommelier especially condescending. The restaurant did not have any atmosphere. We spent over 1,100.00 pounds in the restaurant and yes it was our decision to spend that amount but what you get is no where near what you would expect for a supposedly high end restaurant.

Very good, especially the Prestige Menu. As a couple we were convinced to order one Prestige and one Discovery Menu rather than two Prestiges. This was a clear mistake (possible attempt at upselling) as every dish on the the Prestige menu was superior to its Discovery equivalent, at least in the eyes of me and my partner.

Even things i usually dont really like are made to perfection and several times i felt grateful to be able to taste it. The staff was super friendly and professional. So also big complement to each and everyone of them! The prices are high but i heard Gordon Ramsay just had another baby so i guess he needs all the financial support he can get! 😝

After our first dinner at the Mandarin Oriental ( Dinner by Heston Blumenthal ) we were off to Petrus for lunch. I had originally planned on this being the weekday lunch menu, but when we perused the Prestige menu, we decided to throw caution to the wind and go for it, pairings and all ( we ware on vacation after all lol) Unlike the atmosphere at the Mandarin, which I found to be nice, but nothing exceptional, the room at Petrus was beautiful. Warm, inviting, and so incredibly comfortable. Our service team was delightful, and were extremely open to personal conversation, not just describing the food. Oh the food. For only having one star, it felt like Petrus was punching above its weight class. We had lunch at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay on out last trip, and i will say Petrus has some dishes that were I felt on par to its big brother. Cocktails and pairing were fantastic, who doesn't want a Martini ( or two at lunch !) Overall, i would recommend Petrus for anyone wanting a delightful, inviting and welcoming Michelin experience. Thank you Petrus, it was quite the afternoon !

The fact is the dishes at Petrus are celebrating the products in their plain flavor and in a perfectly cooked way. I am more of a flavours exploding all over the place type of foodie.

Had great expectation for this dinner but the food is really not very impressive. The presentation is fine but feels almost all dishes are overly salted. I was constantly drinking water almost with every bite. Multiple dishes had form as part of decoration which might looks nice but…. I don’t know how many people like to eat form… We ordered two different taste menu so we tried lots of things but… I left with a not quite satisfied or natural feeling in my mouth and body. Thinks I personally would enjoy more in many regular decent restaurants with half the price. We paid over £400 just for the food. Feels they should add a salad to the menu just for the sake of it. Service was nothing to complain though.

Everything was absolutely perfect. From the moment you walk in you feel like you’re in for the experience of a lifetime. I’ll be honest, fine dining isn’t really my thing and I find it to be quite pretentious in general. Petrus has elements of personality and the overall feeling is one of enjoyment, rather than pretentiousness. The food was top notch, as expected. The wine pairings, although not all to my personal taste, were varied and paired excellently by the sommelier. The highlight for me though was the waiter (Cain) designated to our table. Cain was the factor throughout the evening that made the whole experience feel comfortable and relaxing. He was outstanding at the “waiter” part of his job, and utterly brilliant at adding personality to the evening. Whatever he is being paid, isn’t enough. Not sure how to give anything but 5 ⭐️ , I’d like to go back again once I’ve sold my other kidney.

We have dined at Petrus a number of times over the years and generally our experience has been reasonably good. I have to say that our last visit was anything but. The food was lacklustre and lacking in the normal refinement and flavours you expect from a restaurant of this supposed quality. Maybe we were there in an off day but the staff were “process driven” rather than engaging. There was no rudeness or inefficiency but the whole experience this time left us pretty flat. We had been to Gordon Ramsey’ Savoy Grill offering the previous month and that was fabulous, Petrus was, in our opinion, lacking.

MORE AT OpenTable

We had a captivating evening in London at the Michelin-starred Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by the attentive hospitality team. Guiding us to our table was Dua, and we noted that, much like the other tables in the restaurant, it overlooked an elegant oval-shaped glass wine cellar. This cellar was thoughtfully designed to serve as the focal point of staff activity, enhancing the already harmonious flow of their duties. It was truly remarkable to witness how each staff member seamlessly transitioned between their assigned roles with an unwavering sense of purpose and no hint of hesitation. The execution of their tasks resembled an intricate orchestral performance, where every note played in perfect harmony. For the indulgence of two discovery menus, a selection of delectable cheeses, and a choice of beverages (excluding wine), our expenditure amounted to approximately £500 (two people). This cost was entirely justifiable, considering the quality and quantity of the culinary experience provided. Our dining experience abundantly spanned two hours, with each course arriving at our table at precise fifteen-minute intervals. This timing allowed us to savour all eight courses with ample appreciation, leaving us comfortably satiated at the end of the experience We wholeheartedly recommend commencing your culinary journey with a drink, which is thoughtfully paired with a delightful appetizer. Additionally, for those with an appreciation for cheese, as we certainly do, the diverse, visually appealing, and abundant cheese selection is an irresistible choice, promising an array of exquisite options. As we contemplate our future visits to London, the prospect of returning to Pétrus to explore their frequently updated menus is an exciting one. Pétrus is a promise of an experience that continuously evolves and delights.

I had notified the restaurant before our arrival that I am 7 months pregnant and that my partner had an intolerance to shellfish and they had made sure to cater to each of our needs and everything was absolutely delicious and by the end of our dinner we were satisfyingly full and very happy with the service we received. Nice and quiet room, spacious tables, attentive staff, beautiful relaxing light: all these things should be a given in an expensive restaurant, except they are not always in London... But I wasn't disappointed at Pétrus. It is a truly beautiful place, with an intimate and discreet atmosphere. However, when it comes to the food and drink, my experience was perhaps a little more nuanced. The wine list is excellent in terms of variety, but also unreasonably expensive; if you happen to know the retail price of some of the wines, you will find that the mark-up sometimes seems excessive. The food was generally good; the house consommé was divine; the scallops were delicious; the cod was cooked to perfection but came with a side of uncooked brassicas, which I found interesting but basically wrong: there is a difference between serving healthy food and nearly-inedible food. If you ask for gluten-free, the chef will adapt any dish for you, which I think is lovely; on the other hand, the gluten-free bread was nice, but I've had better in less expensive restaurants. So, all in all, the dining experience was good, but not perfect. If possible, I would give 4.5 stars.

The food was very 'nice' but nothing mind blowing, which is what I was expecting. The service was very attentive but lacked any real warmth. We were made to feel like weirdos for wanting extra bread to mop up some sauce, an activity encouraged by most similar establishments I have visited. The wine list is overwhelming, confusing and only accessible in the main to the mega rich. In all good consciounce I cannot score lower than a 3 due to the good produce used and the work that went into the food we had, but I shan't be back. We had the discovery menu and also found just 4 courses on a taster menu disappointing. Although one of the amuse bouche at the beginning was exceptional.

Michelin is typically on the mark so when we travel I tend to stick to their recommendations. Pros: The staff were a complete delight. Everyone who served us was really kind and thoughtful. The space is beautiful and I appreciated the curtain around the restaurant that allowed me to focus my attention on lunch. The scallops were amazing and the best I’ve ever had. Opportunities for improvement: Larger: when sat we were handed the menu and were told we had to order three items on the al a carte (entree, main and dessert) if we didn’t want a tasting menu. For the first comment, I thought thank you for the information (though I had planned on doing it anyway, but I understand they have to say this). But then he said it again. And then again. And then flipped the page and said it again. Though it was possibly not intended, it made us feel like he thought we were cheap and would come in to eat at a 1-star restaurant and order a side salad. Was it because it was a mother and teen daughter in a room full of older couples and business men? The emphasis was unnecessary and embarrassed us. Next after looking over the menu I noticed the lunch menu offered on the website was missing. There was a chicken dish on it that my daughter had said she wanted, not being a large cod or sole fan. We do a lot of research on our restaurants as huge food lovers. I asked the same man (not our waiters) who emphasized the three courses about the lunch menu I had seen. He was like, oh do you want lunch? You want the lunch menu? Let me go find it for you. (Why would you not offer the lunch menu, at lunch). So he hastily brought it and informed me just like the Al a carte I must order the three courses. He flipped it open and around pointing all over it like I didn’t understand how to read a menu. And said it’s really the same thing. But…it wasn’t it was lunch for £75pp vs lunch for £120-180pp. Then he held out his hand to take it back. The whole interaction was so rushed. Soooo guess we weren’t getting my daughter the lunch she wanted. She was too intimidated to say anything because she felt like she had done something wrong. I told her not to worry about it, there’s a beef dish on the other menu. She loves beef. My scallops were terrific but her lobster was over cooked and the beef not up to Texas standards. I thought she was being dramatic chewing the lobster like a piece of gum but she let me have a taste and it was really rubbery. She didn’t want it anymore so I finished it, I mean ok lobster is still lobster. Minor things: The chairs are a bit worn (mine was cracked in several places). Though I know things must be functional in a restaurant. Watching the staff flip tables for dinner, iron linens, and roll napkins definitely had the “lunch folks get out of here” vibe to it. In any other restaurant I’ve been to that needed to turn a table it was done so quickly and effortlessly you barely noticed. My daughter got a whiff of starch-steam from the iron going on next to her while trying to eat. My second glass of wine (I changed from white to red) had turned so badly it smelled like a skunk. How it wasn’t noticed I don’t know. I was told it was from the wines strong minerality. Yah no. So was it pretty good, yes. Was it Michelin great, no. But our waiters were kind and I appreciated them so much.
