New Street Wine Shop in City of London, Westminster

I walked in for a table with my friend tonight. The person who sat me seemed fine until he threw a menu a few minutes later onto my table without even looking at me. He then proceeded to ask me what I wanted while I waited for my friend - I told him I would wait for my friend, and just left and looked annoyed. My friend came in after 5-10 minutes and sat down and immediately he asked what we wanted, we asked for a second to look over the menu, and again he left with no response. He came back after five minutes and we ordered a glass each. I had a glass of wine (which was otherwise pretty nice) with small bits of something that, according to the other server who begrudgingly helped me, weren't pieces of cork. He just told me it was organic three times in a row. I asked if I could have it strained through a mesh filter or cloth and he refused and didn't really explain why he wouldn't, which I would be fine with had it been due to just not having one on hand (which would still be odd, but fine), but apparently it wasn't cork so I should be happy. I downed it (and chewed the parts I couldn't drink) without complaining, asked for the bill with no service charge, and left. I get being busy, but the attitude, especially from the second server, was completely unexpected. Really uncomfortable and disappointing experience overall. Some good wines ruined by the rudest staff I've had in London.

Have given it a 3 because it was unbearably hot! The fan wasn’t doing a lot to help, so we had to pretend we were on holiday in Italy sipping wine. The wines that we tried were delicious, as was the food, but would opt for somewhere else next time.

Great selection but insane mark up. The Sandhi Central Coast Chardonnay is £ 47 to take away! In other shops it's £29...

The service experience was friendly and polite but do not understand the 15.5% service charge for serving wine. We had no advice or recommendations, simply the serving of the wine we ordered. I get the £8.50 corkage but don’t understand from a customer perspective why the service charge is so high.

Really enjoyed it here. Had really delicious wines and the nibbles were all excellent too. The crab fritters were my favourite, but even the bread and salted butter was a winner. My friends loved the aubergine croquettes. Service was great. Very attentive and friendly. Small issue with there being one single toilet for all, but the bar is small so not a massive concern, but worth noting.

Nice little discreet place - you don't notice it from the street. Many exciting wines However, somewhat more expensive than the quality you get - go for the wines and the atmosphere. The food is ... £50

As both a Snobby Londoner™️ and an Italian wine enthusiast, I must say that this place is more than the sum of its parts. One may dismiss it as a corpo winehole from the outside, but inside you find lush wines, friendly staff, and an unexpectedly pleasant environment. One always judges an establishment by their cheapest wines, and their Appassimento Salerno (at £5 for 125ml) is one of the most exquisite wines I’ve had in recent memory. While you’re here, do not under any circumstances pass up the Super Tuscan. It is cheese on toast, but elevated to the highest level you will experience in your mortal life. I would write more, but alas… there is more in the bottle. Toodle-oo!

Excellent wines, of course ,backed up by simple but tasty cheeses, breads, meats etc Service is good and knowledgeable. You cant help leaving without buying a couple of bottles to take away

A great wine bar in the city of London. I really like the setting. The cheese selection is amazing and they have a great selection of wine bu the glass which is always a positive.

A little too noisy and service hit and miss, but wines, hams and cheeses to keep you occupied! One member of staff actually listened to our preferences and gave a range of meaningful choices, the other insisted on pushing £80-£90 bottles of only french wine even though I gave a budget below, and it’s a wine shop with a global selection of bottles starting at £20. Corkage at £8 is really reasonable. Probably great when they’re really quiet, I went on a Tuesday night and they seemed run off their feet. I wanted to love it but they didn’t quite deliver.

Went here on a Thursday night and had a booking from 7. A really nice classy place for wine, great for a date. Wines were reasonably priced - you could get glasses from c. £7 but food wasn't as great value for the price; 3 cheeses or meats for £19. The cheese was lovely though but not too plentiful. Lots of wine to choose from, the bottles are priced individually, we found one for £15 which I think was the cheapest but had to pay £8 corkage.

Stumbled across this place by chance last night. Was with a friend from work and wanted to grab a quick drink. The atmosphere was great, wine delicious and the service impeccable. New found gem that I'll be returning to at any given opportunity!

Had a great evening here trying some delicious wines as well as some small plates. The staff were really helpful and there was a great atmosphere!

Been coming here since this place opened. It's one of my favourite wine shops in London. A place I'll fondly remember for all the times I've honed my wine tasting skills and had great times with friends for after work drinks.

Lovely wine bar with interesting selection and great service

We had a super time. Staff were excellent, friendly and fun. Consequently we all went home in party mode!

The atmosphere was very relaxed. The staff friendly and offering good advice on the wines. We called in for a drink and and ended up staying for the evening and enjoying the sharing platters. Excellent meats and a great camembert. It was Valentine's evening, and I was there with my nephew. I'd highly recommend it as a great place for an evening out.

We held a retirement party with 60 guests. This venue was ideal, and the team took great care of us from the planning stage through to the evening itself. Wines and food were excellent, costing very clear from the outset, and some wonderful little touches which we did not expect. Would thoroughly recommend.

One of my favorite places : the wine selection is outstanding, the staff is kind and helpful. Really, ask them for advice and you'll learn about crazy unknown wine that are delicious and that you'd would have totally missed otherwise like the delicious Portuguese Baga (didn't know it was a grape) I tried tonight. The food selection is great too and pairs quite nicely with the wines. I'm definitely planning to go back.

8£ fee for opening a bottle. Then when you get the check it’s 13% service fee. Skip this place.

If you are waiting to board a train at Liverpool Street Station and have time to spare or are just in the area and looking for a great spot to drink (& eat) then head here for some great advice on wine and overall good service. They have a ‘by the glass’ menu or just pick a bottle from the shelves or fridges & add just £8 for corkage, really good deal!

Superb place for any wine enthusiast, an amazing wine selection to choose from . A little gorgeous bar for lovers of wine in the city. Accessible from Liverpool street station. Staff polite and helpful. It’s become a regular for the odd days when I meet up there.

Don't ask questions. Just go. Worth it. Snack food also available. It can get pricey though, depends on how much you like fine wine.

This bar used to have many wines to sample using the corvin system. This is no longer the case. The food is of high quality but very expensive for the quantity you get.

We held a corporate event here for drinks and food. Service was excellent and owuld highly reccomend people to use this bar for drinks receptions.

Perhaps this venue is designed for the corporate function, and not for smaller parties. Perhaps they were understaffed the evening we visited. The service was poor. The small plates of food were very small and varied in quality. The tapenade was not pleasant, but no enquiries from the staff as they took away the barely touched dish. The internal decor was attractive.

The staff of New Street Wine Bar was just fantastic and helped us to organise a fantastic event! The food and wine was excellent and the location is ideal.

Booked the venue for a business dinner, the venue manager provided a seamless stress-free experience. The variety and quality of the food and drink served on the night were fantastic - they went above and beyond to accommodate to our guests strict dietary requirements. The atmosphere was perfect for the private dinner we hosted, a nice balance between chic and relaxed. All of the staff present on the night were extremely friendly and professional from beginning to end. Would highly recommend and return for a non-work occasion!

Book before you go, small place so walk ins not always available

Our event at New Street Wine last week was fantastic. Daniela Ferraro is excellent - she makes planning an event so easy. She always has good ideas/suggestions for timings/themes and is very responsive. Tanguy is a superb sommelier - the quality and selection of wines he chose for our event was great. He is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to and fun - he came up with wine games for us with little notice and was attentive and engaging throughout our event. The food was excellent - we had a mix of cheese, charcuterie, hot food and desserts. It was all very tasty and the portions were generous. We had the private area at the front of the venue and it was great - there was a good amount of space but it was also intimate enough to mingle. The cost of private venue hire is very competitive. If you are looking for a place to take clients, a venue for an event with work colleagues, or even just a good place to have a bottle of wine on a Friday night - this is your venue. Thank you to NSW for a fantastic event!

Went to New Street Wine after work with a group of girls. Service was really great and Paul the sommelier was absolutely lovely and recommended some really delicious wines. With that being said it did encourage our intake quite a bit but despite us getting a little 'tipsy' they still accommodated us warmly. The venue itself rustic yet sophisticated and we will definitely be back again. Loved the charcuterie too! Thank you for looking after us. :)

Great wine selection! Always interesting wines by the glass. Usually busy after work. Food is more snack/tapas like, but nice. Staff are usually knowledgeable.

Popped in with a few co-workers during the afternoon. Quite dead around 3pm but really nice looking inside with high ceilings. You can choose wines by the glass/bottle from the menu or browse the shelves. I blew my co-workers' minds with an older Burgundy that was really well priced at around 120 pounds. The server was really helpful and engaging. We also got a meat and cheese plate, which paired well with the Pinot and a funky white from the menu. Overall a great experience.

Decent wine but limited and boring food menu.

My new favorite wine bar, with friendly and attentive service, amazing wine selection, lots of character, trendy crowd, central location... What else could one ask for?.... A must visit!

Having heard great things about this bar, a colleague and I decided to visit this evening. We were turned away rudely by staff as we didn’t have a booking. We asked politely if we could wait for a table to become available, the male staff turned angry and asked us to leave immediately. Having worked in the city for ten years, this is the first time I have experienced such hostility for going into a bar without reservation. Very disappointing.

This place is amazing! I went there few time for after work drinks and hired privately once for a work event and we were not disappointed. The food is amazing, the wine selection is impressive and the staff is very friendly.

Wow! 100% service and wine selection. Staff is very knowledgeable and deserves a five star award. We went there with my husband it’s casual and well priced. The food is excellent with a good choice of dishes and wine pairing. I would highly recommend new street wine for a date and also for business lunch as it’s perfecly located in the heart of the City. London must do!!

This place is great a venue to experience some very nice wines and good cheeses and snacks. The Team are very helpful and friendly. We had a very enjoyable hour or two before catching the train home. Certainly would recommend this place.

It has a great atmosphere and a large range of wines though many are on the pricey side but if you hunt around you will come across a reasonably priced gem.

Great find! Lovely little bar/ shop hidden away rigbt by Liverpool Street. Really good wine selection and staff very happy to help you choose. Reasonable prices as you just add £8 corkage to drink in. Tasty cheese and nibbles selection. Much nicer atmosphere than a lot of places in the area. Will definitely be back!

A great pity stop for a classy glass of wine. Sometimes obvious brands and then pleasingly non commercial varietals. Good charcuterie and attentive service. Never feels then main event.

Great service from the New Street Wine team! The event we held was set up beautifully with excellent wines to taste! Recommend for a small group or a larger event for 40-50 people. Will be coming back!

I was here with some friends from Spain and Germany. We had a great night! They have very special wines and the waiters are very kind and helpful. I would really recommend this wine bar. Hope to be back soon! All the best from France.

Good wine and information about wine, I didn't have the food but it did look nice

We hired this venue for a corporate wine tasting evening and cannot provide high enough praise. We Had a part my of around 55-60 which worked perfectly for an informal wine tasting. The wine selection was brilliant, service outstanding and food very yummy. The event ran very seamlessly and that is thanks to Tanguy the owner. For anyone looking for a space for a corporate event or just somewhere to enjoy some wine, charcuterie or the best scotch eggs (as put by one of the guests) then definitely visit New Street Wine as you won’t be disappointed. Fui con una amiga para una bebida. Un servidor bastante pretencioso se nos acercaron y nos dijeron que todo vino equipada internacional. (yo sólo queríamos una spritzer) así que pedí un sauvignon spritzer y mi amigo otro vino francés muy popular. "no stock" mirando en su aspecto muy mercado. Así que elegimos otro 2 vinos y pedíamos con soda. "No tenemos de soda". No es de extrañar que sólo había 4 personas, y aún otros 10 metros la competencia tenía clientes de pie en la acera, ya que estaban llenos, para rematar, nos cobraron un cargo adicional de servicio de 12 1 / 2% para servir 2 copas de vino. Poco sorprende que estaba vacía.

Este lugar es muy guay - gran espacio para llevar a un cliente, tomar bebidas o ponerse al día con el trabajo de un amigo. Maravillosa selección de vinos y un montón de comida deliciosa, incluyendo tablas de embutidos y quesos. Recientemente celebró bebidas trabajar aquí y una sesión de cata de vinos de tanguy era genial - es muy eficiente y la sesión él corrió fue informativo y relajado. Good experience, good wine. Lovely music in the background to chill out after a hard work day! Be mindful of queues after work, I think it's best to book. Lost a star because it took 20 minutes for any one to sit us even though there were empty seats, and an extra fifteen minutes to serve us plus a decision to walk out to another venue before we were noticed!

Ended up here having toured spitalfields for somewhere to sit down drink and eat, very good wine,they even pursuaded me to try a 2014 french wine which was very acceptable.will definitely return if i am again in the area.

Wine and service was excellent. The atmosphere was great! Didn't feel like my partner or I were sitting too close to the table next to us and the overall feel of the bar was friendly and inviting. The price is to be as expected at Liverpool Street: not cheap. It made a nice treat compared to the normal £4 bottles from asda.

Fui con un amigo el pasado viernes. El lugar estaba lleno de mesas disponibles, pero no el gerente muy amablemente nos colocaron alrededor de un barril hasta una mesa se convirtió en gratuito. Él nos explicó todos los vinos por copa, como hizo el vino él mismo y a través de la noche, todo el personal era muy amable. Eso es mucho más de lo que cabe esperar en un pub o un bar de vinos. No estábamos muy hambrientos y sólo tenía un poco de queso y salami, pero el menú puede ofrecer más. Los precios están en línea con la zona. Altamente recomendado.

Found New Street Wine whilst looking for a place to eat. Glad we decided to go in. Great selection of wines (from reasonably priced to OMG). Friendly helpful service. Didn't eat but the sharing menu looked inviting. Will definitely recommend to friends in the area.

Great selection of wines. No corkage on Mondays

Went there and had some interesting glasses of wine with some great chacuterie and cheeses. I think they have eight whites and eight reds by the glass, as well as others by the bottle, as well as a bottle shop. I think that there may also be some sparkling and dessert wines by the glass as well. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff as well, and they seem to be real aficionados.

Excellent service, both friendly and knowledgeable. The food was good and wine also. Good value overall, but a little over budget for what we were looking for for an after work Thursday drink / bite to eat. Definitely suits the area and cannot fault the quality of what they offer. Will definitely be back.

Wine was nice but the staff were a little surly, and forgot our orders at least three times. There is only.one toilet, which leads to awkward queues. There seems to be a disabled stair lift but since its base is behind two barrels and wooden doors I wouldn't out this as disabled friendly .

I have given several verbal recommendations of this bar because the staff are knowledgable, their cheese was delicious, and I was introduced to my now-favorite wine. Luckily I took a picture of my wine tasting receipt because it shows the name of the wine. It rings up as Neromaccarj. It is a red wine with intentional sediment from Sicily. Try it during a tasting!
