What I like about the PETROU Brothers Fish & Chips store, is that they focus and have done for years on the best quality Fish and Potatoes' using the best vegetable oils, having a great Dutch equipment the oil fryer, prices are good and the portions are over generous, all together with really happy and friendly staff, including the home deliveries, on time and still very hot, ensuring good quality in all the fields of service. Several evening I had completly forgot about their closing times, I turned up late, door was closed they were just cleaning up and closing, but they opened the door and cooked and served me my take away fish and chips, that's customers dedication for you at its best. Well done the Brothers and the staff get a 100% score from me.

Rude staff. Angry. Overcharged for what I ordered. Staff confirmed my order with me yet still gave me incorrect foods. Food was poor quality. Hopefully their standards improve. Waitress was rude and even tho my order was confirmed verbally still didn’t get what I ordered. Didn’t order large fish and ended up with a hefty bill as lashes cod is £9.50 a piece, ordered chips didn’t get them.. very poor service hopefully they get better… overcharged for a order I didn’t ask for. Customer service for disabled people leaves a lot to be desired.

It's was brilliant fish and chips. Also the app is very good. You will see me again soon. Staff are very friendly my batter on my haddock was very crispy and my wife had the gluten free sausage which she absolutely enjoyed. Well done.

Home alone box one outstanding fish cake a lovely butter sausage free lovely nuggets a portion of chips and a pot of curry sauce what more do you want all at a very good price delivered with a friendly smile keep up the good work guys you're the best in the town

The best chip shop around! The staff are so friendly and super efficient. The prices are amazing for the quality and portion sizes. Their mini meal is great. We've never had a bad meal, and you can even order on the app!

Everything from here as been delicious and a sensible portion. Love the fish, chicken curry and chips and sausages. Yum I feel a order coming on lol. Well done.

We ordered a pizza and chips tonight. While the chips were lovely the pizza was unfortunately not cooked through. We called back up and was immediately offered another and they offered to deliver. Amazing we thought and the main reason they are getting two stars not one. Second pizza same issue. Topping cooked but dough between that and the base was not cooked. If you pulled it off you could make it look like dough again. For a thin pizza this was an amazing achievement. What a waste of £10+ quid. We couldn't be bothered to try for 3rd time lucky.

Takeaway during covid brilliant service , polite staff and above all else superb tasting fish and chips . Delivered on time what else can we ask for . Thankyou to all involved .

I came with high expectations after hearing about its reputation and watching a food review club review. Lovely clean chippy, nice people working there. The FRC review raved about the batter being so crisp and light. On the video you could hear the crunch. It looked and sounded delicious. My personal experience was it was soggy and didn’t even stick to the fish. I was so disappointed- I’m guessing It was cooked fresh for the video. Mine was in the hot hold and not cooked from fresh. The chips were excellent - not greasy, and tasted divine. A real game of two halves.

Everything fried in Beef dripping so smells disgusting. Good website and delivery shame about awful food.

Whatever you guys are doing, keep it up. We’ve lived in Chatteris for 15 years now, and have used Petrou brothers from time to time. Over the years, the quality has varied somewhat, but recently the food has been superb. Last nights fish and chips we had have just raised the bar to a new level. The best I have ever had in my life, simply superb. The chips were so good, not sure if you have changed something, but I hope they stay as good as that for ever....! And the fish was cooked to perfection... I don’t often leave reviews, but it was so good I’m making an exception.... 👍👍👍

Great fish and chips delivered to our door, including a portion of gluten free. The best I have had in a very long time. Totally recommended. Hope they keep up the delivery service after COVID19.

Dropped in one evening. Although it wasn't very late it was surprisingly quiet. Fish fried to order and was ok. Used to be an award winning business which is why we chose to try it for fish and chips to take away.

I live in Dublin but spent this weekend just gone with a friend in Ramsey. We decided to go for a bike ride to enjoy the nice weather and about an hour in stopped at a chippy for something to eat as we were both wrecked, unfortunately that chippy happened to be probably the worst I’ve ever eaten at! The chips were soggy, undercooked and stuck together, they refused to give me extra salt and vinegar like I asked, the general attitudes of those working in there was a real shocker. A smile wouldn’t kill you y’know! Upon leaving I also noticed the raft of dead flies littered all over the window ledge. I mean seriously guys. Clean the place up, have a bit of craic with those unfortunate enough to stumble across your chippy and maybe take a little care with your food. Not too much to ask is it. Then again, it probably is!

What can I say. I recommend anyone who uses Petrou’s or is considering it to find somewhere else. The smell of grease and wee (yes that’s right!) should be enough to put you off. Not only the smell, the layer of grease on every surface, the dirty counter and floor and the wet, burnt, greasy muck I’ve just been served means they are definitely another customer down until they get there act together! I called my order through over the phone, turned up 5 mins later and it was already wrapped which indicates to me it had been sat sweating just waiting for some poor unfortunate soul to turn up and take pity on it. Naturally I called back again to complain and was told I don't know what I'm talking about!! Such arrogance! No wonder it's typically empty these days. One thinks It’s time to allow zero ratings as terrible is just too good!

It’s fair to say most businesses that offer free goods in exchange for positive reviews must be having a bad time and having visited here fairly recently it’s safe to say Petrou’s is no different. It’s a shame as this used to be a nice place, demonstrated by the fact they have won awards in the past however, clearly standards have slipped. The subject of Petrou’s was brought up in a community meeting having seen an influx of negativity both in the press and on consumer review sites recently. I am all for supporting local business and feel Chatteris is a better place to live based on the fact people support local establishments but it has to be done properly. The shop looks dirty and the smell is absolutely not befitting of a place that serves food. As for the food itself, my last visit was back in early May and there’s a reason I haven’t been back since. The grease was horrendous, I had heartburn for hours afterwards, the fish was extremely wet and sloppy and my daughter’s sausage was cold in the middle. Must do better!

I don’t have take away very often, but the family wanted fish and chips, so we visited Petrous. The fish was beautiful. Great friendly service from our local chippy! Will definitely be visiting more frequently. Thank you

found this little gem of a place whilst out with the wife. I don't usually head for the chippy but the smells and aromas whilst walking past captivated me. What can I say, lovey juicey,flakey fish inside a light crisp batter with lovely golden chips and some great mushy peas. Would highly recommend this place. Keep up the good work

I dont often leave reviews but as we travel quite a bit and have so often struggled to find decent fish & chips it seemed important that I share this one with TripAdvisor as it's just so good! It's pretty faultless really, if you are just looking for a great little chippy then you won't be disappointed! It was lovely & clean, friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble - and the food, oh my goodness the food was so moorish, I've never had better mushy peas (what's the secret recipe??) The batter is super light & crispy - and not forgetting the chips - amazing! proper good chippy chips, loved it - we will be back!

Always get a fantastic takeaway from Petrou Bros. Judging by the 3 recent negative reviews, someone is on a mission to cause the business damage; trade rival maybe? Not one word of those negative comments is true with regard to the state of the premises. Have personally witnessed question or complaint being made(there is always one however good you are) and they are met with unfailing courtesy, most particularly from the owner.

As always, the food and service were fantastic. The staff are always friendly and the food is both tasty and quick. Looking forward to my next visit!

This is my absolute go to chip shop. The food is great, the staff are always lovely, it's clean and bright and good value for money.

Best fish and chips I've ever had, not greasy, great customer service and really clean! Has a 5 food hygiene rating so not sure why the below reviews say bad hygiene, probably from competitors or disgruntled people. Sad.

Found hair stuck in on my chips .And they were cold and greasy .Your better of going sumwhere else!!

Seems to be a mixed bag of revels this chippy! In my experience the food is very hit and miss. Sometimes being extremely poor. I do note some of the things said by other members around cleanliness. It is rather dirty. Avoid in my opinion. I’d say Rumbles is the better option if you’re looking for a fishy treat!

What has happened here! Having not visited for a while I decided to give it a go over the weekend. It will absolutely be my last visit to this chippy and I recommend anyone else who uses them to find somewhere else too!! The smell of grease and urine should be enough to put most people off. Not only is the smell bad, the walls have a layer of grease stuck to them, the sink in the front was filthy, the counter and floor is filthy and the food was just wet greasy slop! I called my order through over the phone, turned up 5 mins later and it was already wrapped which indicates to me it had been sat sweating just waiting for some poor unfortunate soul (namely me and my husband!) to turn up and take pity on it. Furthermore, I called to complain and ask for a refund and was met with an argument from the owner about how I don't know what I'm talking about!! Unbelievable. No wonder it's always empty! It's establishments like this that should force the likes of TripAdvisor to allow zero rating as quite frankly, even terrible is too good.

I had not realised until recently that we had a shop close by that could offer GF fish and chips, decided to try them on Friday, they were delicious. Apparently the NGF ones were really nice as well.

Have visited here once or twice previously however, this time I witnessed a large man wearing inappropriate clothing drop raw fish on the floor before picking it up and throwing it in the cooker. I walked straight back out and will not be returning!

Went to this chip shop and the fish I was served was so small complained to the owner he said they must have given me the children’s portions.. not very helpful and it was the size of a sprat . Won’t be going there again

This fish & chip shop is a bit hit and miss. If you go when it is busy then you are more likely to get better food. I fit is quiet then it is more of a gamble. Having said that it has a fairly varied menu not just the fish & chips. The Cod bite are normally very good & the children's meals are good value. The staff are always friendly.

I've been getting fish and chips from Petrou's for the better part of 20 years and it's always freshly cooked, hot and delicious. You may have to wait to be served because they're always busy; but it's worth it.

Food is good, generally is very freshly prepared, hence why there is very often some waiting time. Fish is fresh, portion sizes are good and they also have many offers for smaller size meals if you so wish.

Una señora muy agradable nos explicó que no gluten bacalao y patatas fritas. Era una orden mixta el día siguiente por un miembro de la familia. Este orden incluía un gluten cod. A su colección de este orden, estaba listo a tiempo, y la señora fue a la molestia de empacar hasta mantenerla caliente como sea posible, ya que la comida estaba siendo transportado a otra casa, que era de 20-30 minutos de distancia. I have lived in Chatteris a long time(30 plus years), and have used Petrous chip shop for most of them.I have always loved their food and the variety they offer,although sometimes it hasn't been as hot or fresh as I would have liked, but hey, considering I keep going back they can't be too bad.The staff and the shop are always spotlessly clean,and I can honestly say I have always found the staff polite and friendly, even when they have been extremely busy.Sometimes I have had a bit of a wait, but I feel good things are worth waiting for.If I am in a hurry I just phone my order through and they usually have it ready.Parking can be difficult sometimes,as the "chippy" is in a residential area, but it is usually possible to park further down and walk back.

Always very good good fish and chips; obviously better if you can get them fresh out of the fryer - but that's pot luck. They obviously change the oil frequently.Portions are standard for the fens - namely HUGE compared to rest of country. I'm a big bloke and I split a standard portion of chips with my son!

Best chippy in Chatteris and even the surrounding area. Been going here for as long as I can remember and have made trips to Chatteris just for this chippy when I didn't live in this village

Stopped here for a quick bite whilst travelling in the area. Very clean place with friendly staff and appeared to be well used by locals. Bread pudding my recommendation!

good fresh fish always clean and tidy has won fish and chip shop of the year about 3 years ago and standards have not changed.

Standard chippy affair, food was very nice but the portions weren't overly generous - especially when compared to the chippy a few doors away.

Always good food premises very clean and staff second to none. Dietary needs always met also looks after pensioners with smaller portions

An extremely well run establishment, very fast service and beautiful food, very tasty. They manage to keep prices to a very reasonable level which is great news. The portions are very generous too.

Run by a pair of brothers and entered into top fish and chip competitions, expanded their shops to other areas in the past. Offer a good menu and very good standards of hygiene. Unusual to find such a good chippy as these guys, the smell of the food draws you in.

Love the pineapple rings, and the fish and chips.....just like the originals over 45 years ago! Varied and expanded menu and much to choose from. Pre order or order at pick up. Both are plenty quick!

The fish and chips may be slightly more expensive than other establishments but they are certainly the best in town and well worth the extra money :) Good portion size (rumbles are excessive) and quality rather than quantity. Friendly staff too :)

Petrou brothers do a lot more than FnC, but my experience is limited to just Haddock n Chips, always cooked fresh to order and always absolutely fantastic. I'm not a great fan of chips but their half portions suit me fine. Would I recommend Petrou to you? Well yes, but only if you really want to have the very best cooked FnC in East Anglia!

This take away restaurant has gone down hill, they were excellent, but then they made a name for themselves and since then, in the last year or so, I have had 3 or 4 meals and the fish was soggy, and the so too the chips. Please go back to the old ways. Nice crispy batter and chips
