Called in the market to do some shopping on the way to Burnley. Late lunch, Just a tea and baked potato with chicken curry. Very pleasantly surprised. Large side salad on the side of the baked potato and a seperate bowl of chicken curry, great flavour and lots of chicken. Service with a smile and very good value. Definately one to try again!!

Order ed two hot beef and onion muffins with a tea and a hot chocolate and we also ordered a portion of chips. The hot beef and onion muffins were lovely, however the portion of chips was the worst chips I've ever had and would never like again. The chips tasted like they had been reheated and cooked in awful fat, that had been left and they seemed burnt. We tasted one or two and then asked the waitress about the chips because of their lack of quality. The waitress responded by saying "The fat is changed every day and I don't know what to say and she then proceeded to walk off and ignore our customer complaint. This is not what you expect in customer service and I wouldn't recommend anyone to ever go going here again.

Unfortunately our visit this morning was not the best.Poor service, long wait to be served, when food eventually arrived the bacon was cold, and the bread muffin was even colder. We were constantly being told that they were short staffed, however there were 3/4 members of staff milling about.Took ages receive 3 hot drinks, and eventually 3 bacon muffins,by which time we had finished our hot drinks.

Bury on market day is always busy,i come over quite regularly, bringing my uncle & his partner,we usually start our visit with a quick breakfast, liking to try somewhere different every time. I had spotted Peter's tea room on a previous visit & today was the time to try. The tearoom is set back in the market,so could be missed, really nice decor, clean, comfy seats, welcoming staff, great start. A quick look at the menu & it was small breakfasts all round, two coffees & a tea for me. Bacon, sausage, egg, either beans or tomatoes, slice of toast, just enough to start the day, clean plates say it all. All in,i think was around £19.. So another one ticked off,but i'm sure we'll be back again soon.

It was a busy Saturday well after midday in the tea room. I ordered meat and potato pie, peas and chips. I asked for the chips to be put on a separate plate. The meal arrived with the whole meal on one plate. The person I was sitting next to me had a meat and potato pie with a lot more peas than I did as they decided to load my plate with the chips! Which meant I was paying more for less quantity! I was very disappointed after having a really nice discussion with one of the servers who said their meat and potato pies were really good. That they got them from a company around the corner from their stall, Bury meat. Sadly the meat and potato pie turned out to be mashed potato with a herb in it. It tasted nice but it didn't contain meat! I continued eating this in the expectation of finding some meat! 1/3 of my pie remained and some chips and 1/2 the peas. When I complained it took 4 staff to register that I wanted to talk to the manager. I was told he was the cook as well and because they were busy he could not speak to me. They took what was left on my plate to the manager to look at the pie. The server came back to let me know that there was meat in the pie. If there was it was mashed up to the size of salt grains which I don't consider is a traditional meat and potato pie. Usually you get to see the lumps of meat or the size of mince meat. I could see neither! They then told me they had used another supplier and that they would get in touch with that supplier leaving me without any resolution as to why I'd been mislead and deceived about the meat and potato pie. They didn't even offer me a partial refund or a dessert as a goodwill gesture . They said I'd eaten most of the pie making me feel guilty! They then had the cheek to suggest I contact the supplier! I asked them whether they'd even checked that what the new supplier had provided them with was indeed a meat and potato pie! They ignored me and muttered something, no doubt a profanity, because I'd even had the nerve to raise this issue! I wonder if trading standards should be informed as I was sold an expensive pie that literally only contained mashed potato? They mislead and deceived me! There was no sign of meat and if there was it was mashed to a pulp which could be anything and not a traditional meat and potato pie! Another customer with his wife and child arrived at the same time as I did. He ordered food for his young daughter and a simple sandwich for himself. I don't know whether the wife had anything to eat. I had got through 2/3rds of my pie when he asked where his order was! When they were leaving I asked if he'd got the sandwich to which he replied no but at least his little girl had got her food! I will contact their supplier but I've never heard of anything so ridiculous that the onus lies with me, the customer, to check out their supplier. I do feel that they were constantly passing the buck and washing their hands off their responsibility to ensure what they were selling to the customer is in fact a traditional type of meat and potato pie! Their excuse was that they were very busy! Well hello that's what tea rooms are like; usually busy. Needless to say I thought I'd discovered a really nice tea room but will not be returning. Their attitude was all wrong!

Food was ok as was the service and value for money. Really put off by the dog that kept yapping behind us and the child that was banging cutlery onto a plate repeatedly but not being stopped by parents. Dogs should not be in the dining area
