Such a lovely welcome this morning. This patisserie is perfect for break from the busy streets outside. The cupcakes were amazing, thank you again! 🐘

Came here with my friend and kids for the first time. This is a firm favourite for my friend and she was dying to introduce me to it. I ordered - blondie a brownie and 2 cakes. On getting outside I realised I had 2 brownies and one cake. I went back in and explained to the lady behind the counter (turns out it was actually a complete understanding and probably more my fault as I said the peanut butter one not realising there was a peanut butter brownie and I wanted the peanut butter and banana cake) anyways I offered to swap the brownie as I hadn’t touched it or pay for a new cake. The lady was so lovely and offered me the cake as an extra for free. Really went above what she had to as like I say this wasn’t her fault. So 5* customer service. On getting the treats home (my son had ate his Nutella brownie already in town and he loved it) they were devoured I had the lemon and raspberry cupcake which was just perfect the complete right amount of buttercream not to much. And I’m reliably informed the blondie, cake and the other cupcake were equally delicious. We have found our new regular treat joint!

Bitterly disappointed with pet lamb, had been super excited to try this bakery and when I went the staff member was unwelcoming and quite rude and the brownie I had was poor quality and made me feel ill.

The brownies from pet lamb are unbeatable, absolutely loved that they did the delivery service over lockdown as nowhere else comes close and it was nice to have a random selection to try ones you wouldn’t normally go for. Perfectly squishy with just enough crunch on the top. Lovely selection and choice of brownie flavours and cakes in the shop too, the cupcakes look so decadent, clearly made with love. It’s always immaculately clean and the girls are so friendly rain or shine.

During COVID-19 times we ordered a mixed box of brownies from Pet Lamb Patisserie. We hadn't tried them before and wow they are amazing! Such lovely flavours and they were just how I like brownies... slightly underdone and gooey. Will definitely be buying these again and visiting the store when we can :) We even got a socially-distanced smile, thankyou and wave upon delivery!

My grandma works in the grainger market and recommended this shop for a gender reveal cake we needed. She dealt on our behalf with the staff and the order everything seemed to go very smoothly. On collection of the cake the shop was hospital clean and the cake was the hand crafted, special touch to the party we wanted :). I am very critical yet honest with my reviews and I can honestly say I do not have a bad thing to say about this shop. Neither did anyone at the party as only crumbs were left. Thank you I will return :)

Tucked away in the corner of Grainger Hall - relatively easy to find if you search it out. Only a very small little cafe with limited outdoor seating but really nice selection of cakes, brownies and other cakes. Along with a selection of coffee and teas. Small, simple and good value. Cakes a little dry and a blob of ice cream or whipped cream to go along with it would be very welcome. Recommended.

Came in today as my colleague recommended it. Such a shame to be greeted by a rude member of staff who seemed eager for me and my friend to leave. Weird as we were the only ones in the shop. Such a shame as the brownie was lovely, but I wouldn't feel comfortable returning. I usually always strive to support local businesses, but this visit really put me off supporting this one.

I REALLY want to support the Grainger Market and local business. I love the fact that Pet Lamb Patisserie allows you to buy a slice of cake. Their offering looked beautiful, nice selection and their shop is very chic and cute. I bought a slice of velvet cake - well wrapped and excellent service. All ticks so far but the cake was dry, the icing crunchy - it had simply been sitting there for too many days. It was a huge cake in a glass dome so maybe smaller cakes that are renewed more quickly would be a better option. I write this with absolute encouragement and positive feedback. I really hope it was a one-off.

Visited with my husband and daughter. Excellent brownies (salted caramel and cookie dough) and good coffee. Brownies were just on the right side of claggy! I can appreciate other reviews about feeling rushed to make a choice, though. Just a simple 'Shout up when you've decided' would do but it wouldn't stop me going back. The raspberry and nutella brownie has my name all over it....

I took my friends here as they had not visited Newcastle before, and I raved about this place, so I wanted to show them the place i reguarly talked about. We arrived and without even getting a chance to look at the selection of cakes we were instantly asked what we wanted- which is fine however you then feel rushed to decide and feel like youre being a pest for not deciding quick enough. We all got a different flavour brownie (which to be fair were tasty as usual) and we then all got a cup of tea. When we went to pay, we were told it was cash only, this was after our tea had already been poured. Usually there is a sign or you should be told prior to purchasing the food. We had to walk to the nearest cash point, so when we got back, I asked if hot water could be added to our teas just so it wasnt 'luke warm' from sitting there. To which the reply was 'well it wont be cold'. This came across very unfriendly and we felt not welcome there. We ate our brownies and left and because of this customer service, I wont be returning anytime soon.

Regularly visit Pet Lamb and enjoy the raspberry brownies which are the right balance of cocoa, sweet, tart and moist. And have ordered some exellent cakes previously too. However most times I leave with a sour taste in my mouth because the customer service is invariably poor. Typically, as soon as you go in the outlet, even if no one else is in, you're asked immediately what you want. Please give me chance to visually digest everything first! The whole transaction from start to finish always feels so rushed, as if I'm causing offence by deciding to come and spend money here. I would understand more if I walked in and there's a queue of customers and trays of cakes being seen too but this is even when nothing is happening except the the tapping of mobile phone keys. There are a few occasions now where I've thought twice about going and instead have popped to Pink Lane Bakery or similar instead. These days I put more emphasis on the customer service I receive and if there's a lack of common courtesy then why should I come here? It's like visiting a drug dealer who knows you're coming back because you're hooked. Not giving up on this place yet but hope for better in future.

I had really high hopes for this place, as I love cake and had heard good reviews. But unfortunately I was really disappointed, we visited three times to make sure we gave it a fair chance. The brownies and blondies are nice, but very average and nothing special. The cupcakes again are nice, but a little dry, they are definitely made to look better than they taste. The staff are really unfriendly and very pushy, every time we visited they pushed us into making a decision, considering we were the only ones in the shop all three times, they constantly asked 'have you made a decision yet' while looking bored and fed up that we were taking our time to choose. They have a large selection of cake, surely its feasible that most people would browse for a few minutes. I could understand if we were holding people up, but we were the only ones in the shop. It doesn't surprise me that they have removed reviews from their facebook, as I imagine people have complained about how rude they are. Also, they use their instagram for personal posts as well as business posts, this makes me lose all credibility in a business, I think if they want to grow and be more successful they need to become a bit more professional and friendlier to customers. I really hope they improve, as it would be good to have a nice local, independent bakery.

We went to Grainger Market and had an amazing look around. Its sometimes things you use to visit all the time and places you walk past to get on to your next destination that you miss as a local. The sign said be back in 10 minutes - which is fine I understand you cant be chained to your shop all the time. The vendor came back and inside is remarkable clean and very 50's kitsch. I ordered a cupcake but was given really snooty, cold and poor customer service. Apart from telling me the cost and bye that's all I got as any sort of chat no thankyou or smiles nothing. I even joked with my other half and tried to say something but the frosty retort I figured meant to stay shut up and silent. The cupcake was ok alittle more caramel ganache as a filling could of been nicer for my own tastes.

After seeing the reviews we visited this shop. We loved the menu of different brownies and cupcakes. Unfortunately not everything on the menu was available and the cakes and brownies didn’t look that different. We tried a selection of 4 items. Sponge was dry and tasteless, really needed the icing. Salted caramel brownie did not resemble to any caramel or salt flavour. Coffee- well it went in the bin. The place looks lovely and website looks great but it does not deliver anything fifferent to a supermarket cake. Very disappointed.

In Grainger Market a bit out the way. Everything looked delicious and as a coeliac I was delighted to find they did gluten free cakes - caramel one and a lemon one. Good prices too (£2.50 each) and large slices. The caramel was a little dry but the lemon was nice and moist. Would be great if they offered more gluten free but great that there are some options. They also do gluten free cakes for events.

I read the reviews and planned to visit the patisserie on my weekly trip to Grainger Market. I promised my son a treat and went to the shop so that he can choose one. He pointed at the chocolate cake, the girl/seller said there are chocolate cupcakes and other chocolate things. I asked my son again and he smiled and said he wanted the chocolate cake, so I asked for a piece. The girl was so upset! She kept doing everything in a very noisy and angry way, and while cutting the cake she kept rolling her eyes and shaking her head and turning her lips! I felt judged for buying my son a piece of cake. She shoved the cake into a bag and didn't even smile to the kid. You want to sell pricey cakes? Fine. You want o sell stale and dry cakes? Fine. But this attitude is totally unacceptable! First and last time. It turned out that this was the owner and not just a grumpy seller. Wow!

My partner and I used to visit Pet Lamb perhaps once a month, but following my last experience we won't be frequenting there anymore. At the end of August I ordered a brownie cake for my fiancé's birthday party, I paid a fortnight in advance and received confirmation that it had been booked in for collection on the 14th.I made the journey to Newcastle especially to pick this up on the agreed collection date. Unfortunately once I got there I was informed that my order hadn't been recorded and so wasn't ready. Best case scenario was the following day or to settle for a flavour she didn't want. I was offered a refund only to find out that I had been overcharged when I'd ordered initially! Luckily I still had the invoice so I got the full amount back.Such a disappointment that a few hours before the party we were left without the cake despite having already paid for it and receiving confirmation. The person in store was apologetic but frankly I'm out of pocket for both parking and petrol and was massively inconvenienced because of their blunder, the fact I had been overcharged too was just icing on the missing cake.Mistakes happen but I feel it could have been compensated in some way which would have helped reduce the bitter taste the experience has left.

The raspberry and nutella ones were also delicious with a good amount of nutella in the centre of the cake, definitely a crowd pleaser. However, the cakes are a bit on the pricey side, at around £1.75 or so per cake, or around £5.50 for 4. If you have a bit more money to splash out on cakes, they are definitely worth a visit!

Nice little hideaway in the heart of Newcastle that needs more coverage. Small, quaint and friendly the girls do an amazing job on everything from traditional brownies to salted caramel cakes and even super size custom made cakes.

I ordered some dairy free lemon cupcakes and i was not happy with them at all they were very wet and didnt taste of lemon at all. I was very disappointed as i was expecting them to taste of lemon for my dinner party that i was holding that day so instead i had to cook some myself that day. The customer service wasnt good either like i had to ask did everything in my email like did you get the bank transfer etc.I would have liked if that had been a bit more accomadating in there emails and customer service as it was very offputting.Overall i got a refund for some of my cupcakes but i will not be visiting the pet lamb girls again sorry.

Since first experiencing Pet Lamb cupcakes I've been back countless times for more cakes, brownies and even hot drinks. They provide some seriously good products. Just take my money. This review first featured on North East Nerd (http://www.northeastnerd.co.uk/)My boyfriend got some cupcakes in town to take away so we first sampled these at home. The Double Choc cupcake was chocolatey delight, the buttercream frosting was fantastic. Then the Oreo which surprised me, so it's wonderful chocolate sponge with the wonderful frosting again but then SPOILER ALERT there was a secret hidden oreo at the bottom of the sponge!! I definitely ate these too quickly and I am desperate to get more in the near future.

I recently visited this place for the first time with my mother and it took us nearly five minutes to decided which cake we wanted, there's so much choice! I opted for salted caramel cupcake and my mother picked a red velvet brownie. They were both lovely but the brownie was a bit sickly after a while. I think that may be down to it's size, it was huge! Will go back for more tough!

Heard a lot of hype surrounding Pet Lambs, personally we found it a little underwhelming. A heavy sugar fix if you're a sweet tooth but beyond that, our Peaunut Butter Crunch & Mars Bar Slab were both a touch on the bland side & despite it being the middle of the day, didn't taste very fresh, in fact we didn't finish either. Honestly, it wasn't bad enough that I would avoid the place all together but certainly won't be rushing back & it definitely didn't live up to the reviews I'd read & been given by friends. Hopefully just a poor day, plenty of good places have em.

I do not go into town without going to pet lamb. One of my true downfalls. The selection is fantastic, and I have had several cakes made by the girls and they have never ever let me down. The peanut butter, brittle, chocolate God knows what else is by far the best thing I've ever had. Anyone saying anything other is utterly mad.

Popped in to pick up a few cakes as a present. It is a lovely little shop with lovely decoration. The lady behind the counter was helpful and friendly. The cakes were a decent price and tasted lovely.

After hearing about this place on one of Buzzfeed's lists of places you need to eat in Newcastle, I decided to call in here to purchase some cupcakes for my husband for Valentine's Day and I'm so glad I did! Great choice of well presented cakes on display and the lady behind the counter was warm and friendly and very happy to help.I picked 4 cupcakes for £5.50 most of which had a valentine theme and my husband was very pleased! I took a picture and have had many people since comment on how nice they looked and everyone agreed the price was reasonable considering the presentation - and I should mention I shared them with my husband and they tasted great too!Lovely place will definitely be returning!

After venturing into the grainger market for some fresh veggies. We stumbled across the beautifully decorated pet lamb patisserie..With vintage trinkets everywhere. We couldn't help be drawn in.After taking in the delicious treats and umming and arghing we chose to opt for peanut butter brownie for myself and nutella brownie foe my other half.We stood by the windows on the perch benches which were good but could use a more vintage twist!I can honestly say that the peanut butter brownie was incredible!!!A great pit stop in a quiet corner..perfect afternoon treat!!!

I have been visiting pet lamb regularly for over a year now and I can't recommend it enough to anyone vising Newcastle or living in the area. They have a wide selection of scrumptious fresh cakes, cupcakes and brownies to cater for anyone, all of which are beautifully displayed and always very tempting (I can vouch for that) It's also worth coming back again and again as their is always something new to try whenever I visit, along with their classics. The two girls who own the place are always friendly chatty and never without a smile. Everything is freshly made within the shop and the smell alone is absolutely heavenly.Anyone wanting to treat themselves, friends or family this is the place to go! Hands down without a doubt the best bakery in NEWCASTLE! :)

The shop is beautiful and tastefully decorated - as are their delightful cupcakes. I personally opt for the brownies myself (Oreo blondie to be precise) which are mouthwateringly good! You get an enormous slab which could easily feed two but I'm too greedy to share. You cannot fault the girls on their customer service, they are always smiley and happy to have a chat. One is always buys baking or cleaning and the other steps in to serve you with a smile. As a growing independent business Pet Lamb is definitely one to watch out for - the recipes and themes definitely grow from strength to strength and it's hard to stay away! Currently on a 'new year, new me' diet and if my will power goes away - it will be my first official binge of 2015. (Hoping they have some blondies and cookie pies in when I do!)I think the empty shelves at the end of the week shows the popularity of the shop and speaks volumes but you definitely need to try it for yourself! Thanks girls for keeping me fat and happy!

Popped in after a few friends had mentioned it and I hate to say I felt let down. The Brownie was terrible and the coffee just tasted cheap. Was not cheap either I would go as far as saying over priced for what you get . There is plenty of other options in Newcastle for fantastic home made products I would advise on those places first .

I have been recommending Pet Lamb to people for a while now as the Salted Caramel Brownies are delicious. There is a range of brownies, cupcakes, cakes and loaf cakes to chose from. Many of them have the 'American' theme with lashing of peanut butter but there are new flavours to look out for too. For the size of the products this place is good value for money. They also serve drinks although they had run out of cups this afternoon, and had no Earl Grey teabags left, which is a bit surprising for somewhere so central, on a busy Saturday. There are two tables outside to stand and eat the food but they were covered in cake crumbs and dirty. The owners are friendly although I tried to contact them regarding cakes for a birthday event and they didn't answer the phone or respond to my answer phone message. For a small business this should be something which is addressed.

Indifferent and overpriced cakes. This is not a patisserie and calling it such does a disservice to those with talent and training who produce patisserie. It is ok, but it is pricey for what is actually produced and the effort and ingredients required. I have had a number of cakes that were dry and now would not go back or recommend. There are plenty of cheaper and better alternatives around.

Though i enjoyed the brownie i had from here it was just okay and overpriced for what it was, i may have just been unlucky with my choice or batch, but from what ive tried you are better off heading to olive and bean round the corner!

Popped in for a sweet treat while in the market. I bought an amaretto cheesecake, which seemed to be 80% chocolate brownie and 20% amaretto cheesecake topping. It was undoubtedly the best cakey thing I've ever eaten. It was very rich, but with only a little help from my man friend (who rated the Nutella brownie very highly), I could finish it. Incredibly good value, at £2 for this slab of heaven. Take everyone you know. Immediately.

I've been popping in here every week now for a year after numerous glowing recommendations. I think this is one of my favourite little hot-spots in Newcastle and my only complaint is that it's not bigger so you can sit down inside. Tucked away in the Grainger Market, this place does an amazing quirky selection of cupcakes which are rustic, delicious and fun. Bit disappointed to see people saying they are not 'perfectly decorated' but I disagree completely. All the goods on offer look delicious as they taste; from cupcakes to layer cakes, American style pies and brownies. If you haven't tried their Lavender/Violet cupcakes, you haven't lived! Great selection that has brilliant additions for holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Halloween etc. there's also a nice selection of hot and cold drinks. The shop itself is very kitsch and cute and the two girls who own this place are ever so lovely, friendly and always up for a chat.Fab little find :)

I have loved Pet Lamb for ages now and always used to recommend it to people however something has changed lately, the cakes and brownies in particular are a lot more dry and the recent price increase seems a bit unnecessary. Also the service depends on who is serving. Still good but a bit hit and miss. Please go back to the old ways, it's a great local business.

This was a visit on the valentines weekend which may have not reflected well as it was busy and we felt rushed, however the food was good presentation was beautiful, the tempura and prawns were great, unfortunately was let down by some of the other combinations which weren’t to my liking. Although I would like to try the food again on a regular weekend to have the full experience and give it another shot.

As I entered asking if they were open for coffee the member of staff with a red t-shirt and a pony tail was rude and just grunted. She then proceeded to serve every other customer except me. They were buying alcoholic drinks whilst I waited at the coffee counter and she knew I was stood there waiting for her to serve me. There was no direction of where I was meant to order. Then I asked the other member of staff and she said “well you can order where you like and we are busy” So rude. I was eventually served the coffees but I will not be coming here again and I do not recommend anyone else does for coffee. If they do not want to serve coffee at a busy time, then they should not be open for it.

Overpriced, no sides with food. £10 for a lamb skewer with no bread/chips. £4 for a thimble of snack nuts. I will not he returning. The served food was okay, just not worth it.

Very disappointed in Geek Retreat. Went in with my boyfriend to get his cards valued, stood at the desk for like 5 mins and the person behind the desk did not great us and when we asked if they were busy they responded rudely “no…” we didn’t know they weren’t busy as they were typing on the computer and there was a person already at the desk looking at cards. Not great customer service from the person on the front desk. Then they do not give a good percentage of the cards value, this was explained before they went into get valued but 30% is extremely low. When my boyfriend collected his binder a few days ago they were covered in a residue and and they’re was finger prints all over the cards which reduces the cards resale value if he did want to sell them elsewhere. Honestly unhygienic.
