Just writing this review to ask that they offer to warm up the scones before serving! Could then be the best coffee and scones in town! Great setting but could streamline the service a little better

When on a one day visit to Perth, we decided to go into the Perth Theatre Cafe for a coffee. We were served very quickly and the coffee was good. When lunchtime came we decided to go back to the cafe and this time decided to have the soup. We were served very quickly. The soup was delicious and was served with either white or brown bread with butter. All the staff were very pleasant. We'll certainly return the next time we are in Perth. The whole place was very clean.

Very limited selection of food - only sandwiches. The only hot food was soup. There were very few people in on a Saturday lunchtime so there was no atmosphere. It felt a little cold and grey. Staff were friendly when ordering at the counter.

I arrived at the cafe having booked a table for 2 for pre Theatre meal I was given a choice of table - one was very near to the adjacent table and the other was under a spotlight. The meal was certainly not worth the £50 paid - I will not detail the meal but it was very poor in content - the glass of wine was ok but £4-50 again not a cafe type price.

As we were in Perth for the day, shopping, we decided that, as it was around lunchtime, we would go to the Perth Theatre Cafe. We hadn't been in since the theatre had been modernised and we were taken aback by the change. There is much more room than in the old cafe. Now it's set on 3 levels. We were given the menus, and asked what we would like to drink. As it was a hot day, we decided on soft drinks. On looking at the menu, it was difficult to decide what to have. There is even a section for children's meals. We eventually decided on a Tuna Mayonnaise with spring onions sandwich, and a Chicken with Tarragon Mayonnaise sandwich. Both came with side salad & coleslaw and were served very nicely on oblong plates. They were very good and we will certainly return the next time we are in Perth. The staff member, Kelsi, was very pleasant and polite.

Had booked a family meal via website for a panto visit. Advised at booking to collect ‘tickets’ for the meal from the box office but the person on the desk didn’t know they did tickets for that. When we arrived for the meal staff seemed confused with the seating arrangement. We were then informed that the menu on the table was actually incorrect. It was a table for 4 but only had two christmas crackers on the table. Not the best impression so far. The food was average and the staff were friendly but seemed inexperienced. We waited about an hour between starters & mains. Finally the waitress was going to charge us for the meal that I had already prepaid for. I would maybe return for coffee etc but would give meals a miss in future.

Went for a drink before a play, thankfully we had arrived in plenty of time as it took over ten minutes to be served. Not because it was busy, but because the service was so slooow! Part of the problem is they have one of those ghastly expresso/cappuccino machines that everyone seems to expect nowadays. That is fine in Costa or the like where that is all the staff have to do. However, in a theatre bar when all you want is a quick G&T; you are in a queue behind half a dozen people who only want a simple coffee, but have to decide between the numerous options on offer and then choose what they want sprinkled on it and do they want a mini, a maxi or a maestro!

Lovely atmosphere and very good food. The service was good with a friendly waitress. I had the Aubergine and halloumi ciabatta which was delicious. Both had been griddles in a little olive oil. The side salad was very interesting and had a gorgeous dressing. A glass of merlot was very reasonably priced at £3.65 and the sandwich was also reasonable at£4.95. My friend had a similar sandwich with roasted vege and hummus and he reported that it was lovely also. We ordered a side order if chops between us and they arrived in a large bowl with plenty to share between us. They were also home made and delicious. My other friend had the prawn pasta dish and he thoroughly enjoyed it as he finished the large bowl of it. Compliments to the chef on all 3 meals. They all arrived together and were hot. My only minor issue was that the wine glass I was given looked quite finger marked which I overlooked as the rest of the experience was great and the wine was beautiful. The waitresses were helpful, friendly and efficient. A great team who should be commended For assisting in the success of this little gem of a restaurant. I'll definitely be back.

September 2008 ReviewAwful, nothing special here, in fact I’d go as far as say avoid. Service really is dreadful, with a couple walking out and actually being shouted at by the waitress for complaining about the wait. The place wasn’t busy yet we waited at least 15 minutes before being served with every other table had a wait of more than this! We weren’t talking 3 course meal orders, just simple coffee/teas! The last time we went in (a busy Saturday afternoon) we were told it was closed. The theatre really deserves better and I’m sorry to say this as a regular visitor who never seems to get good service! Sad to say but if you want speedy efficient service the Starbucks across the road is a better bet and I’m sure the cakes will be fresher! The ticketing staff however are lovely, helpful & efficient. Buy your tickets here then go elsewhere for a coffee.

Last time I was here the fish and chips was really good. Afraid to say this time my wife had the fish and chips and it was cafe standard at best. I had the mac and cheese and I have to say this was the worst mac and cheese I have ever had in my life. Microwaved with what little sauce there was at the bottom of the bowl. The parmesan was probably fresh about a week ago and been sitting out since then. We won’t be bac. Pity as we are local. Staff (waiter, bar staff and receptionist) were pleasant enough though and can’t fault them at all.

Quality has really dropped here. We used to love the place and it was a real destination. However went today and coffee, from an automatic machine, was terrible, cakes didn't taste fresh. Staff were really disinterested, unhelpful and rude at times. Mid service, two staff stopped serving us, started talking about their weekend plans and then after a few minutes returned to serve us. They served us dairy milk when we asked for non dairy milk. The actual shop had no music or atmosphere. It feels that since 2023 the company has really went downhill. No dogs allowed, but food left on the tables which attracts wild animals in the cafe.

I would give two stars for the food and one star for table etiquette. We were unimpressed when we sat down to a table setting of basic low-quality, stamped-out flatware with sharp edges. Three of us ordered meat (duck, pork and beef), the other fish. No alternative, appropriate knives were brought to suit the food, nor was the cutlery replaced after the starter. There were splotches of dried food debris on the underside of all the placemats, which apparently never gets wiped off when they are stacked. The food itself was okay, but portions were on the small side and overpriced for what it was, e.g. two slices of duck breast, 1" slice of sea bass, very little vegetable to accompany. The chicken liver parfait starter was good but came with only three small slices of toasted baguette and bread was £6 extra. There was an abundance of wait staff operating on high-speed settings. We had trouble understanding what kept so many staff on the run (literally) given the restaurant was not full and could have been disruptive were it a romantic dinner for two. We just watched the show. Overall, a four-star restaurant should pay more attention to detail, quality and cleanliness, if it wants to have a four-star reputation.

We had an enjoyable lunch at the Bein Inn. My partner said his burger was good, his purple coleslaw looked appealing and I have to say his chips (something neither of us is fond of) were probably the best we've had. I ordered a chicken fajita, which was the most unusual I've ever had: *everything*, including the rice (either pilau or basmati, not long grain as I'd expect), wrapped up in one big dod with three sauces on the side. It tasted fine and was filling, but looked tragi-comical. The young waitress warned us they had no avocados, but on questioning thought they may have guacamole; however it was substituted with some kind of chutney, which was ok if unconventional. On the plus side, it all seemed to have actually been cooked rather than banged into a microwave, which we appreciated. The service was good and friendly, and our food arrived in a timely manner, noting that we arrived at the beginning of Friday lunchtime when it was quiet. We're not in a hurry to go back, as the menu was limited and a bit overpriced, at least for my weird offering at £17. There seemed to be some renovation work going on in the entrance area, all good, but didn't add to the ambience. We'd originally looked into this for a Sunday lunch, which seems popular with others, would possibly try it for that in future.
