Service slow, the jerk chicken a bit bland, the red peas soup was ok but yam and dumplings rock hard, not the best but not the worst.

Great food always on point.. Portions are larger than average so you really get your monies worth.. Friendly helpful staff and menu offers a wide variety but this place is so popular with all races best to pre order as your choice will more. Likely be sold out by mid afternoon

A hidden gem, the food is amazing 🤩. Jerk chicken 💋 Really reasonably priced and the servings are HUGE Open 12/7 and it gets really busy

If you miss your mum's or grandmother's home cooked Caribbean food I recommend Perry's Caribbean Cusine. Even thought I was born and bred in London I used to live in Reading years ago when there were not many Caribbean takeaway or restaurants. Going to Perry's was lovely and the owners treat you like family and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. I recommend all the dishes but the Mutton with Rice and Peas and vegetables and coleslaw and washed down with some Ginger Sorrel is my top favourite followed by Fried or Jerk Chicken. Can't forget the Guinness Punch too. Thanks Perry's for your lovely food and outstanding customer service.

I love a bit of curried mutton since the 1st time i tried at the central club staff friendly food amazing got large curried mutton with rice and potatoes and a small curried beef with rice and potatoes and a bigga fruit point to wash down 👊🏻👊🏻

The food we had was excellent, and the owner friendly and polite. The only problem was what we wanted wasn't available, in fact most of the menu had run out, even though there was still 3 hours until closure. This is the stereotypical view of a West Indian restaurant come true. I will go back when next in Reading but probably need to go earlier.

This is the only restaurant that answered the phone when I called to see what was available. I went in and saw that it was a typical West Indian take away. The food was great I would go back there whenever I am in Reading. I had a bottle of Irish moss, beef patty, jerk chicken with rice and peas and a fry fish because I was hungry and the food looked good.. I was pretty glad that I went here because it was traditional “yard food” just like grandma used to make plus the prices were reasonable.

Lovely food, generous portings and great friendly service. Will definitely visit again. If this was a seated restaurant I would definitely book for family and friends celebrations.

If you want Caribbean home cooking, then Perry's is the place! Finding it can be a little tricky, as it is a small place just up from the Market Place in Reading. Offering a simple and straightforward menu of Jamaican dishes, you can get a great tasting (spicy too!) meal with sides. Dishes are homely, which some might find too rustic (e.g. the mutton in the mutton curry comes chopped up on bones, which have to be picked out). There are a range of Jamaican soft drinks on offer, and (when they've not sold out) patties. The price is good for Reading. Inside, there are some tables where one can sit to enjoy the meal.

The brown fish stew is best dish in Reading. Have worked in Reading for years but only ventured in recently – regret not having visited earlier.

The Service was good and our meal was nice. Didn't know they sold Roti but we enjoyed it. We will be visiting Perry's again.

Love this unpretentious little place.good home cooked food.friendly service .This is my treat to myself when can't be bothered to cook.am gradually eating my way through the menu choices.This time had oxtail, rice and veg lovely tender meat always clear my plate.

Came recommended, missed the mark. Rice was just OK, chicken was dry, overcooked and surprisingly bland. Overpriced for what you get.

Popped in for lunch and had a large Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas. The portion was large enough to satisfy most people and was very tasty - not too hot and the chicken was moist. That and a bottle of water were £10.

I work in Reading and regularly eat here. The service is fast and the food is great especially the Jerk chicken, curried mutton or Ackee and saltfish (whenever it's on the menu). If you're really hungry, try one of the delicious soups as a starter.

Todos tienen un hogar. fabuloso cocinado/calidad preparados y mejor servicio al cliente desde el chico y la chica. .Las cosas negativas son,. la comida es muy cara, si te dejan la comida de un plato de comida de ridículamente 8 libras. 50 a una £6 libras que serían mucho a medida. La sopa es pequeño. taza pequeña que es de £2. 50 es una locura. . Así, aparte de su etiqueta de precio pesada para la comida y la bebida, aún vale la pena comer (sólo si estás preparado para pagar más dinero).

the worst food I have come across. tasted like they used dirty toilet water to season their "curried chicken". wouldn't feed this muck to my dog, I don't know what sort of person thinks it a good idea to get a piece of chicken and cut it up with a meat clever and serve it with broken up pieces of bones. what were they thinking!!! spent the whole meal cleaning out tiny pieces of bones. ohh and £8 for a small (rip off) £9 for a large, how on earth did they come up with pricing like that.. unless u want to choke and be robbed whilst doing so I would avoid this place at all cost.

Possibly the best food around town if you enjoy Caribbean cuisine. The portions are generous and the price is good...definitely value for money. There is also a delivery service which I have used on occasion.

Pedí llevar. El personal es increíblemente servicial y amable. La comida es enorme. Cogí el gran porción y no podía comer de todo. No hay muchas alternativas como tantos no están disponibles cada día, pero menos me thonk que necesitas para cocinar la más calidad que si eres un pequeño vamos amenudo conjunta. El sabor era increíble y parecía casera aunque no tengo mucha experiencia en comida caribeña. Si quieres comer en es más como una taberna y esto es algo que me gusta. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Mi principal preocupación es que nunca hay ningún carnero, y después de trabajar todo lo que normalmente puedes conseguir es el pollo. Después de una media docena de visitas, nunca he sido capaz de conseguir pescado sal y ackee, kallalloo o cualquier real Staples oeste de India. Es casi como hay sólo pollo, arroz y guisantes.

I had jerk chicken with rice peas and cabbage, the portion was huge, tasty and really good value. The lad serving me was really friendly too and seemed cool. A good experience all round.

This is a third trip up from Southampton to have lunch at Perry's and the food and overall experience just gets better. Its not fancy but what you get is as good home cooked food and you never leave hungry. Only wish we didn't have to leave it so long between visits. Looking forward to the next time we manage to get up to Reading to sample yet more delights of Perry's

Simple surroundings but really good food with lots of yummy Caribbean options! I personally love the baked lamb chops with rice and peas, vegetables and plantain. Can eat in, get takeaway, or they deliver within the Reading area.

Amazing Authentic Caribbean food, I had the Jerk Chicken and Rice+ peas. The food was so flavorful. The portions size was very very good,I had leftovers the next day. It actually taste better. Might need to make it weekly visit. I need to try the lamb chops next.

So was feeling the need for some good Caribbean food - and been told had to try Perry's and it did not dissapoint. Had some very good jerk chciken and festival and the curry goat and rice was divine. True juice, busta and had a D&G Cream soda.Portions were huge - and price was compettitve. And then an hpur ride back home. Well worth it.

There are a few tables for people who want to sit in, but I've only ever gotten takeaways from here on the way home from work. And it's very busy, so for lunch and dinner, it's wise to get in quickly, because you may have limited options towards the end. But the food is always tasty and they always give a healthy portion. The place has a very friendly and laid back atmosphere.

My son and I came for Saturday lunch. The oxtail was wonderfully cooked, falling off the bone. The fried brown chicken was moist and well flavoured. The rice and peas an excellent accompaniment. Really nice cafe with friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere.

It's only a few doors down and we don't even have to cross the road :)Very good tasty food and good portion sizes, eat in or takeaway.Would have given 5 stars, but some may find it pricey (I think the pricing causes confusion because the small is only a little bit cheaper than the large but still pricey) .But if you want Authentic Caribbean cuisine you can't go wrong.

A friend drags me into this restaurant and takeaway, which is very well patronise by everyone in Reading especially the Caribbean community. The staffs are all very friendly, helpful and patient as sometime they have to explain what different items on the menu means and consist of. The food was very delicious, hot as in the temperature of the food served and you are provided with large potions.Downsides are no parking (but there is parking around the corner by the library or better still catch the bus. Only a small dining area and the size of the tables but since most people are there for takeaway this should not be a problem. The menu is displayed on a blackboard and there is no way of knowing if you come in late if there will still be that special item still available on the menu. The solution is to order what you would like earlier in the day so when you arrive it is available regardless if you will be eating in or taking it away. Finally Perry also offers party catering and the quality of the food is just the same high standard. I recommend Perry for the food, friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff.
