Delicious food, I had Oxtail with rice and pea. Lots and lots on the menu that looked amazing. Will be back when I'm next back with work. Thanks for the lovely food and the full belly

I visited here yesterday pretty close to closing time, I was still provided with excellent service and the jerk chicken and rice and peas were both perfect, I definitely recommend this place for it's flavour and it's portion sizes. Id also suggest booking your food in advance as it gets very busy and a few things were sold out towards the end of the day

Had rice and peas in here today with roast potatoes and stewed veg. Very tasty, portions were very big and only came to £5.50 each for a main meal! I will go back next time I'm in Reading.

I haven't been in years, but I remembered the place now. I need to give it mad props for the food and vibe I wanna come back soon.

The service was terrible. The food was awful, had to throw it in the bin. The rice was soaked in the steam vegetable juice and the meat was bland. Money wasted.

Great find (i was just looking for festival dumplings has i failed to make them at home )took my husband and son there they loved the food staff were amazing..

This place has taken the spot for worse customer service in Reading. 3 people in kitchen 1 is busy the other 2 made eye contact and ignored me. Was the only one waiting to be serviced place was empty it is a joke. Waited 6 mins and walked out

I came In around half 6, so roughly half an hour before closing time. I initially wanted to order the Jerk chicken with rice and pea and a fried dumpling. Upon ordering I was made aware that they had run out of the Jerk aswell as the dumplings aswell as a few other things. It was only half an hour before closing so I understood and half expected this to be the case, as I know the jerk is popular. I ended up ordering the fried chicken with a side of rice and pea. The service was speedy and the staff very polite, even offering to wrap the food up (as I was catching the train) The price was maybe a little steep (£10.50) although the portion was generous so i suppose it makes up for it. The chicken was very flavourful and cooked perfectly although had little to no crisp to it. I suspect this was because I had ordered close to closing time so they were no longer frying new batches and I’d probably just caught one that had been sitting a while (I expect this is not the case when ordering throughout the day). That being said I would still give the fried chicken a 8.3/10 it was delicious. Next was the rice and pea. It tasted pretty authentic and was well seasoned (the cabbage on the side is a nice touch) and it all tasted like it was made with love. If I had one critique it would be the rice and pea was just a tiny bit too moist . Don’t be mistaken no one wants dry rice but if I’m nitpicking it was just a tiny tiny bit too wet, it’s a 8.8/10 for me. I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in reading to try the Jerk aswell as the Mac and cheese and dumplings. I highly recommend!

Perry's Caribbean Cuisine is Excellent the food the staff the quality Service has always been Amazing, My mum is in her 80's Also an Excellent cook of Caribbean Cuisine even she is a fan of Perry's food which says a lot, Long may Perry's excellent Caribbean food business continue.

The jerk chicken is very good, well worth buying. You get a lot of food even with a small too, great value, good food, what else can you want?

Hands down the best restaurant in reading - the patties are cheap and filling, and the curried mutton is just amazing. Helpful staff, lovely atmosphere - I’ll be back for sure Homemade goodness is a thing of beauty.

The food here is really good. Came to Reading for a meeting and came across this restaurant. I would travel here if I am craving Caribbean food. We had the brown stew fish, curry chicken, macaroni pie with a fried dumpling and salt fish fritter. Amazing! Would highly recommend.

this place had gone down small portions and higher prices i suggest you try the marketplace stands much better value for your money. large portion is £10.50 u get 2 drumsticks and one breast and rice and a small pot of salad . or eat in they way they can’t skimp out on the portion . standards have dropped here

Absolutely terrific Caribbean food. This is exactly what you’d get at a Caribbean grandma’s. Especially in terms of the generous portions. I’ve been to so many mediocre Caribbean restaurants but was told I had to try Perry’s whenever I’m in Reading and now I know why. The Akee & Saltfish is great too, very delicate in flavour which means it’s been prepared properly. The Jerk Chicken is exactly what it should be, fall-off-the-bone chicken in a perfectly spiced blend. The staff are polite and professional, you could see them welcoming locals and regulars which is always nice to see. Definitely recommend if you want some delicious and hearty comfort food. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area.

It was my first visit to Perry’s, and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. The jerk chicken was tender and flavorful. The curried mutton was juicy and fell right off the bone. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. The price was also reasonable. I would highly recommend it and would definitely return.

Portion is good, price is a little bit too much, I would give a full star if the jerk chicken is not that salty.

Good Jerk chicken and rice, I got jerk chicken on a bed of rice with Salad for just £8, Jerk Chicken tasted great along with the rice, large portions.Highly recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously busy periods are most often better for fresh Jamaican food. Also more variety. This place is in a high traffic area of Reading. Food is tasty, I had oxtail rice and peas. I will return. More reviews to follow. I only been once.

Prices are fair and the food got better with every bit! The portions sizes are designed to put you fo sleep! Truly worth it

Great food and really family friendly. One of the staff (i think owner) helped us with our pram and looked after us so well. Incredible flavours and lovely people, what more can you ask for? If you're thinking about it, just go!!!

This place is such a little gem. Nothing glamorous about it, but just honest, authentic Caribbean food, and it's delicious! Had the goat curry and it was the best I've ever had, highly recommend. Would suggest having it for takeaway and not actually going there as it's not the nicest place to sit down and eat, but that wasn't what it's meant for anyway

Total disgusted with this place the food was awful and when we complained politely we was told to get the hell out and don't come back. Very aggressive staff with a totally wrong attitude for customers. Please avoid buying all cost.

I found this small, friendly Caribbean restaurant, conveniently and centrally located on a random trip to Reading. Great, enthusiastic service. Very tasty fried fish. Can’t fault it. Will definitely return, when I come back. Highly recommended

When it comes to west Indian food Perry has been at the forefront in Reading for over 20 years. Your getting good wholesome food time and time again.

Went just before closing time so only a small selection, however the only two things left happened to be delicious. Would reccommend the fried fish and macaroni pie. Good value for money, especially considering how massive the portions are. Nice staff providing wholesome comfort food.

I’ve been to Perry’s many times , and every time the food is fantastic . The jerk chicken is incredibly tasty, fresh and wakes up your taste buds like nobodies business . The food portions are large , piping hot and amazingly fresh . Perry and his team certainly know how to cook sublime food , well done guys !!!

Top place for authentic Caribbean food, good sized portions that fill your belly and taste great all at a reasonable price. The decor may be a bit dated but don't let that put you off, I have always felt welcome and at home, so why not give it a try it is really worth it :)

Ran their business like a doss house lot's of young black boys in hoods hanging around The waiting time was ridiculous the employees seemed more interested in hanging around talking to eachother rather then actually serving people When asked the waiter how long the food would take he shrugged his shoulders and said 5-10 minutes maybe At this point I walked out of the shop. Tasty caribbean food at good prices.

As I Jamaican I was really exited when I heard there was a Jamaican restaurant in town. However, the food failed to meet my expectation. Parts of the rice and peas was burned and the chicken was underprepared. The food was also slathered with too much gravy. I will never go back. On a good note though, Mr. Perry was quite friendly.

Excellent food. I am a Jamaican 🇯🇲 myself so I know what our food tastes like. Probably the most strict critic because of that but I was very pleased with the taste. The portion size for the large was A LOT (just how I like it). Would definitely recommend and visit again

I think it is grossly misleading to describe the food as homemade as I am fairly sure it is made on site, rather than in someone's nearby residence. Definitely good value, and definitely tasty, I feel myself yearning to visit the Caribbean.
