Perry Hill Tavern in Birmingham

I believe it has recently been taken over and is in the process of being revitalised. I understand food will be served once a week but check. Staff friendly and helpful.

This poor review is based simply on Perry Hill Tavern providing a £50 raffle gift to the Blythe Hill Fields 'Festival' [7th July 2024]. This event is held within Lewisham Council's public park. The 'Festival' has no known park improvement upgrade proposed. If it has, then it has no understood, deliverable timescale. If Perry Hill Tavern responds to me to de-bunk anything I have written in the above, then I will gladly take down my post. However, it appears that this private business is taking advantage of a public park event with no park improvement upgrade due to a failed due diligence issue.

Went last night to watch the opening euro game and had a pint of Carling, when I went up for another pint I noticed that staff were going into the bar/ restaurant area to pull the pint, when I asked why, the staff said the pumps in the lounge didn't work and haven't worked for many months. I ended waiting 10 minutes for my pint as they only have 1 pump in the bar.When it finally arrived it was flat so I refused it and walked out. I cannot believe this place! It is so poorly run I don't know how they get any customers. I doubt it I Will go there again. This used to be such a good pub!

Food was very standard nothing stood out •chill chips not nice • naan-bread went could very fast and crispy Chicken curry with spinach taste like baby food out off tin •only thing that was nice was the pain Rice Mixed grill was standard £62.00 But service is needs an improvement order drinks waited near 20 mins for them to arrive then ordered starts and they had taken over 30 min service is key

lovely place had the best service from lewis felt really friendly and welcomed at this pub because he was so so nice even though we weren’t locals felt instantly at home in the pub because he made it such a nice atmosphere, wouldn’t normally leave a review but i feel the need to when the bar staff make that much of a lovely impression.

Went early midweek when it was quiet. Ordered a large mixed grill and 2 veg sides plus 2 naan. Great quality food good drinks and very reasonable price. Will definitely return to try more curries.

Restraunt was empty, waitress couldn't speak English, guessing she'd only been in the county 5 minutes. Food was terrible, probably worst curry I've ever had. Used to be half decent, wouldn't go there again, even if it was free. Sorry don't like giving bad reviews but absolutely no effort in this resraunt.

At the perry Hill tavern with my best friend Janet and we had food And it's 1000 perfect and it's to die for out of this world will be coming back soon don't worry Happy days

Good pub but terrible food felt it the next day real bad couldn't get off the toilet. 👎 😕 also a hair in my cheesey chips.

Ordered a mixed grill and curry twice in 2 weeks and both times the food was incredible.

Went there Saturday night 1st Oct, first visit. I live nearby but always go West Brom for mixed grill so thought try my local. Mixed grill was a let down. Chicken wings not really grilled more like homemade oven and flavour added. No grill taste at all. So were left over.. Chicken Jelfrezi balti was ok with nice naan breads. Overall food not to the standard if i compare against likes of Island Inn or Sportsman. Tavern needs to work on this. Otherwise nice place with plenty of TV screens to watch sports.

Had a mixed grill and a couple of curries from here last week. The lamb balti (don't normally eat much lamb out) was bloody brilliant!!! The mixed grill was very good too. Would recommend and would revisit!!

Rude staff, underage Drinking, drugs un toilets. We spoke to the landlord and he wasn’t bothered. Men shouting bad language plus horrible food. Filthy kitchen too don’t eat here

Friendly staff, punters and a decent drink. What else d'ya need?

Well this pub was once somewhere where you could enjoy a drink in the lounge. But no more, as now the lounge is a bar with 5 TVs and men who really should have been in the bar, as their language was foul, noisy and unacceptable, felt very comfortable as it my mom's local. The change since COVID is not a place we will bother to go again. False signs outside, it's not a lounge but a bar!! Not sure what clientele they are trying to draw, but it's not somewhere we will ever visit again. Will never recommend anyone else to go either!!

First time in there , was lively and friendly atmosphere, I enjoyed it

Apart from 7 Balling the league players on their own match table. A good sized lively pub. Not my local as I live 15 miles away but very helpful and lovely staff. Regarding the food.... Usual grill place but their mix grill is a lot better than your usual pubs. Not a lot of masala on there which is a good thing. Masala chips were very nice! The curries had too much masala in them and the dishes used were too small. Would definitely recommend going there for the excellent customer service, the vibrant atmosphere and the food! The pool table is a bonus. Just need a good old jukebox with a desi punjabi play list!!

Somewhat run-down and in need of redecorating. Young girls serving who would rather chat amongst themselves than rush to serve. Outside tables and chairs need to change as wood is all rotten. Has potential but will not realise it until there is a dramatic change.

Amazing mixed grill! Went to the Perry Hill Tavern . The place was busy but the service from the staff was excellent. Ordered a mixed grill , shared between 3 people , it was tasty and plentiful. The beer was also good, definitely a place to come if you like a good mixed grill , beer and like watching sport . There are TVs all around the bar , the owners have turned PHT in a great local pub!!

Not good worse place I been to for ages 2 hour wait before getting dinner menu wasn’t good mix grill came some sort of mess fest off putting as it all tasted the same no chips my thoughts have a Microwave dinner before you leave the house just good for drinking beer

Been going since 2011 before the new ownership great pub and really friendly

Took half an hour to serve us after we got here. Eventually got our drinks. Waited for over an hour to be served again and still haven’t been served. Can say we won’t be returning. As for the reply I’ve received to this review, I will mention the fact that other people that got there after us were served 3 or 4 times before we were even served a second time.

We were recommended Sitaar by our neighbours and that the food was great. We tried a takeaway yesterday and must say it was the most tastiest food we’ve had in years. I am vegetarian, my husband is a meat eater and both of us were absolutely amazed at the quality of all the dishes and the choice. Everything was so fresh and full of flavour. Definitely recommend Sitaar can not wait for restaurants open to have an in house dining experience as I know when restaurants are open we will be the first ones there! Thank you so much :-)

If you want a cheap microwaved meal this is a great place for you! The menu was very limited for vegetarian meals so i said if they could change chicken tikka mossala to paneer, in my head I thought this looks like a microwave meal place but if they would cater for the change then they could prove me wrong. They said they could do me a paneer tikka mossala so i was surprised, until it came. It was a microwave chicken tikka mossala with paneer just added to it, was very disappointed

Phoned ahead of arrival to check what times the food finished being served. Quickly answered and very polite over the phone as well as being really helpful. When me and my partner arrived, we had warm welcomes and we were served straight away. A great atmosphere and great view of the sports channel too. Food was delicious and fresh, we will definitely be coming back again. Thanks everyone !! 😌

In arrival just after 5.30 pm, it was lovely and warm. Safety measures in place, and food was lovely. Butter chicken, chicken saag, chicken tikka was much enjoyed. Will certainly go again.

The food was excellent, the covid 19 rules were adhere to( they've knocked the wall down ) for one way system and the atmosphere was buzzing and the weather was hot

I have order for the first and the last time! Tandoori prawns £10.50 but for this money you will get 3 prawns with a little bit of onion and too much salt. Too salty to eat all of the 3! 3 which is a joke for this price and not eatable at all. Don't recommend at all! Hoped to have a dinner, have only beer now! 🤮

Sitarr Restaurant is excellent. Great for vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters. All should try it.

Went to Sitaar. Was quite disappointed because I've gotten used to Desi pubs where the food is quality, good value and quick. This is a more traditional restaurant where everything is at a restaurant type pace. Food was good.

Full of young chavs with baseball hats and no respect constantly pushing past and bumping into me and my partner.

Food was good... Was slow coming out even though the place was empty . Quantity of food was less than other Indian mix grills..

Friday night good karaoke Spoilt last Friday by youth's bringing in own drinks and selling wacky baccy Need more and efficient doormen.

Nice enough inside and does good mixed grills. The massive let down with this place is the beer garden which is one of the biggest in the area and could be great for families. However it’s usually a complete mess. The last time my sister or I have been we’ve had to stop the kids wandering off because of the volume of broken glass everywhere. Last time we were there the dog picked up a broken pint glass off the floor in its mouth. This could be a great beer garden but instead it’s a neglected dump hence 3/5 stars max

The back area definitely needs sorting out. Nice grass and play area, but the tables and benches need throwing away and the car park needs sorting, glass etc.. safety flooring would be better.

The food is good, but they need to up their game as these types of pubs are in abundance now. Decor is somewhat dated, they have a restaurant area due to open in July, hopefully, that will put them on the map as a great pub

Fui a la taberna de Perryhill el sábado para ver la final de la Liga de Campeones, el salón principal estaba ocupado, vio el partido en el bar, tenía un gran ambiente, tenía teeka de pollo envuelto con papas fritas, pude decir que la comida era increíble. Los propietarios definitivamente están poniendo mucho esfuerzo para asegurar que sus clientes obtengan buena comida en un agradable pub local. Volvería de nuevo.

This is our local pub, previously we would have never bothered coming here but the new owners have done a fantastic job. The food in particular has seen a dramatic improvement; I don't think I'd be exaggerating when I say it's the best curry I've had in Birmingham! Keep up the great work guys.

Visité Perry Hill Tavern con colegas de trabajo para una reunión previa a Navidad. No se deje engañar por el edificio anticuado ya que esta es una de las mejores cocinas de comida india que he probado en mucho tiempo (escuché que había un nuevo chef). Recomiendo encarecidamente los chips masala y paneer balti. He pagado el doble en lugares que parecen ser los mejores restaurantes del exterior, sin embargo, siempre me ha decepcionado la comida. El personal era muy atento, el gerente fue muy hospitalario. Y pagando una excelente botella de vino de marca por poco más de 12, volveré pronto y también tendré un servicio de entrega a domicilio (con ser nuevo en el área, es difícil encontrar salidas de calidad). También hay una mesa de billar, salón y dardos para jugar. Solo puedo resumir esto como una noche memorable:)

Un par de compañeros míos y yo fuimos a parar a la exhibición de fuegos artificiales y fue increíble ver la pantalla que pusieron para una gran multitud. Había un ambiente sociable entre el personal del bar y los clientes. Solo habíamos venido por un par de pintas, pero al mirar los platos y los olores que salían de la cocina, no pudimos resistirnos. Pedimos una parrilla grande, pollo con mantequilla, pollo con chile, una pareja de ajo y algunas papas fritas. ¿El final resulto? Perfección. La comida fue suculenta y rica en sabor, todos los sabores que se esperan y más. Honestamente, superó todas nuestras expectativas y definitivamente nos hizo querer tener más. 100% recomendación de mi opinión

Qué puedo decir. . . . . yo y un gran grupo de amigos visitamos para la exhibición de fuegos artificiales y tuvimos una noche absolutamente fantástica. El pub estaba lleno pero sociable el personal del bar era muy amable y feliz. . . . terminamos pidiendo comidas para nosotros y nuestros hijos y wow fue hermoso el pollo de mantequilla (para los niños) fue perfecto y gracias al personal por recomendar el plato en lugar de su menú estándar para niños, ya que les encantó y el pollo chili Es delicioso: la textura es perfecta, simplemente se derrite en la boca y la presentación también es muy buena. Tengo que decir que nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos y cuidados. . . Recomiendo encarecidamente probar este lugar, tanto la comida como las bebidas eran encantadoras y, sobre todo, el personal era estupendo. . . un grupo de 10 de nosotros asistió y sin duda volveremos. . . 100 tienen nuestra costumbre. Buen trabajo chicos

Nice pub in the community food is really good

Food was awful. RED butter chicken that tasted of pure salt. Spoke with bar staff who then spoke with manager who stated it's supposed to taste/look like that. When I asked about the strong taste of salt he stated it was garlic powder! The toilets were also filthy, service very unprofessional of the food. I would never recommend this awful place. Not even an apology for the bad food

Little gem of a place! The best Indian food I've had in a long time. Mixed grill is to tender and tasty. Lamb rogan josh so tender in a delicious sauce. Best Naan I've tried! My new favourite Indian food.

The food is just superb. Better than most if not all grill places in Birmingham. The place is in need of a bit of a refurb but the staff food beer is absolutely spot on. Try it you won't be disappointed.
