Muffin Break in Birmingham

I initially visited the shop to inquire about a job opportunity, but the manager was incredibly rude and dismissive, making me feel unwelcome from the start. unfortunately, my visit was completely ruined by the manager on duty—a blonde woman whose attitude was shockingly unprofessional and racist. It was clear she had no interest in providing good service or creating a welcoming environment. It’s a shame that a place with so much potential is being run by someone who seems to have zero respect for people. I'll never return to this coffee shop.

I recently visited this café and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience with the manager. Her behavior was rude and unprofessional, and her attitude towards me was unpleasant and even offensive. I expect respectful and courteous service, especially from management, but sadly, that was not the case here. I hope the café takes this feedback seriously.

Food came out of the oven machine and it was stone cold. Manager (woman with short blonde hair) was extremely rude to her work colleague! Gave the poor girl a hard time infront of customers. Argued she had got orders wrong but in fact she was wrong. If I was that member of staff id have been walking out. No one deserves to be treated like that in the workplace

Had to give 1 star in order to review. I wouldn't have given that if I were able to review without it. Ordered 3 classic breakfast..c £40..and it was the worst breakfast we've ever had. The eggs were like Frisbees, everything was over cooked. Would nor return or recommend to anyone. Very sad!!

We had excellent service from the two on duty and nice food and coffee. Everything as expected, no problems.

A lovely place to grab a coffee with friends or alone. A nice selection of cakes and sandwiches and the coffee is always great. Great prices too. Always recieve wonderful customer service especially during my last visit Arpeet was so friendly, welcoming and provided wonderful customer service. Will definitely be visiting again soon :)

Just awful place and the staff incredibly rude!

I went with my mum today and the woman at the till was racist. She has blonde hair and spoke very rudely to me. She pretended she couldn’t hear me and before leaving I asked for a takeaway box for my toast and she replied saying ‘what do you need that for’ and sighed at me. I felt so upset as when I was eating my food a male customer walked in and she served him so sweetly. Honestly this isn’t the first time this has happened. I strongly recommend to not buy anything from here especially to any person of colour or wearing a hijab.

The staff were really nice and lovely even during the busiest of times and I love the big selection of food, drink and fresh bakery goods!

Thing that disturbed my mind was cups were not properly washed. I couldn’t click the proper picture but i found one picture where you can see the lipstick stains though its not clear in picture but you can see lipstick over there. And don’t say I sipped from his cup and complained, as you can see i was not using lipstick on that time. Also this is my first time in this cafe. This is really disgusting, we customer pay for this at least maintain some hygiene. At least double check before you serve customer.

Great selection of cakes and interesting muffins, not bad prices especially considering the big portion size. Definitely better value than Starbucks or costa etc. Particularly liked the generous icing on the mud cake which was really good! Though it might have been nice to have to option of having it warm. Staff were really friendly, especially the young female waitress behind the counter.

I used to work there and you don’t want to know what is going behind… not to speak about the management and how entitled some staff is (khm khm Claudia), cmon you’ve been working here for way too long, and that’s your only personality and stop boosting your ego on others, grow up. Not to speak about the owner, even worse… Exploiting workers, not paying them fairly, 0 hour contracts (if you want more hours you need to work harder lol), management is so poor. Not to mention that owner doesn’t help in the shop nor even lives in the country, sitting back and exploiting his workers… If you do care about people and stop making lazy people richer, go elsewhere. Find a cute independent coffee shop.

The service and customer service was a terrible experience. The staff got my order wrong and when I told them, they changed it but had attitude to them. Tables weren’t clean flies all over from food standing on tables for a long time. My iced coffee was warm. Never go here. It is shocking

The freshest muffin I’ve EVER had. I got the raspberry and white chocolate one and it was literally freshly baked and tasted delicious. I also got the mozzarella, tomato, pesto and basil flatbread and it was so flavourful!

Great selection of cakes,sandwiches, toastie, muffins, croissants etc.. Plenty of different choices of tea,coffee,hot chocolate, cold drinks etc.. Lovely atmosphere, very helpful staff and welcoming..

The Indian lady in the shop was very rude and ignorant , wouldn’t go again & wasn’t patient at all! Bad customer service !!!! :(

On Sunday 17th Dec the cafe was about to close but I asked a favour from one of the staff members who was a woman to breastfeed my baby which would have taken just 5-6 minutes but to my surprise she gave a silly excuse and refused..I mean how could you guys could be so unkind…and where’s the hospitality that this cafe provides for the people who come in to remember. Disgraceful service 👎🏼

Here at 16:45 been refused hot drinks and food as they stating they close in 5 min??? When on site that close at 5pm

Nice cup of tea and not too pricey. One member of staff was lovely but the other was miserable. Shame about the teenagers vaping in the seating area.

Waiting time wasn’t too bad, but it’s the customer service that is bad. Very poor. Customer before me Harold around and waited for around 15mins to then find out that their ice coffee was already done 10mins ago and not informing staff or customer that the drink has already been made. When it came up to my turn it was literally the same experience except the staff forgot what she made and also didn’t even realise it was done. Baring in mind it was not busy at all. I will not be coming back again

I asked for the ingredients of the bread that was being served, the staff could not tell me. They claimed that the bread was not made by them. They should still have a list of ingredients available. I have to carry epi-pens due to my allergies.

Had a cappuccino and a slice of red velvet cake. The cake was dry and tasted weird, I returned it with no problem and swapped for a lovely slice of biscoff cheesecake instead.

A really sweet cafe in the bullring. Staff did make you think they were speeding you through even though there wasn't a queue. The tuna melt was awful and looked like someone has thrown up but tasted good. The dessert however was delicious. A nice cream strawberry tart. Very nice to relax and just watch the world go by as they shop.

Seating is OK, service just fine, and milkshakes look nothing like the pictures. The biscoff milkshake is just a vanilla milkshake with some crumbs and biscoff caramel sauce, and it was not even cold, just room temperature. Quite disappointing for the price...

Found two or three long dark hairs in my food and drink very slow service as well it took ages to get two teas and cheese cake the cheese cake was very nice but the lack of seats and clean tables very busy and slow service as well my friend wondered where I got to I said to her a younger lady was serving me it took at least 25 mins to be served on that day I came. It was my first time coming here it was very busy queues was long very long queues. Lack of serevettes lack of milk and the lack of staff as well.

The Cranberry and Brie panini was delicious as was the cappuccino, friendly, helpful team.

The customer service at this branch is absolutely debilitating! Especially the guy with tattoos behind the counter, who looked at me like I stole his cookie from the moment I walked in and frankly could learn a little about customer service or even normal human engagement from a 2 year old. I have been visiting muffin break in London for years, won’t be returning here anytime soon.

Chocked on a sweet when waiting in the que, coughed my guts out could barely breathe for a few mins but the guy behind the counter ignored me and he couldn’t care less didn’t offer me some water, but heartless… chose to get coffee elsewhere

Stopped off for a refreshment break whilst in Birmingham recently. We had a flat white coffee a tea and 2 pieces of Red Velvet cake, both were good, served by a couple of friendly young ladies, whilst not cheap the refreshment certainly hit the spot.

Both deserts tasted like they had been sitting and had a stale few days old aftertaste. Also ordered a chocolate milkshake which was like cheap powdered shake that you get from the supermarket. It was not a very large glass neither. Spent over £11 but walked away disappointed. So many place in Brum that we could have had desert, yet we unfortunately picked this one 🙄

Me and my sister came in and had ourselves some lunch here, and I personally do not think it was worth the price. The food we got tasted okay, but not worth the price tag on it, and the milkshake I ordered was one of their "luxury" milkshakes and it tasted like regular milk with cream on top. The service was nice and fast, but the food isn't worth the price.

Muffin break While visiting Bull ring. Decided to pop in for coffee in Muffin break. Have plenty of spaces to sit inside or out on balcony. There were 3 very helpful girls serving. Chai latte and carrots was very nice. Specially the cake was very moist and delicious. Good service, great food. Recommended

Huge and bursting with fruit, the muffins are the star attraction here, as you would expect. The coffee is also top notch, and they do great paninis, too. Muffin Break is a great choice for breakfast as it never seems too busy when it opens at 9am (or 10am on Sundays). Tucked away on the upper floor of the Bull Ring it almost seems like a hidden gem, so please don't tell everyone!

Small outlet but has seating across the aisle. Didn't have shortbread which I have in my local My Muffin Break. Good rewards on coffee though.

INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE by some members of staff Served by Dan and June. Both very lovely. Dan served us quickly and efficiently and was very very friendly too. Special thanks to Dan Hot chocolate was yummy, and the choc muffin was delicious 😋 would recommend when he's on shift XD (28th July 5pm) I did go on the 16th too, but was served by an unfriendly European woman and a rude blonde woman 5 2", perhaps her supervisor. But my experience today was much better.

Bad coffee. Ordered pancakes and they served cold pancakes so obviously they were not freshly made. The pancakes were hard and shop bought tesco or asda pancakes tasted better than theirs. A total waste of my £8 for a coffee and pancakes.

Both my wife's hot chocolate and my cafe late were almost cold. My wife's chocolate muffin was too sugary. We sat on benches/mini sofas next to the wall, the space was too small for our legs. I do not remember such a small space for people sitting in front of each other in any cafe/restaurant.

I wanted to try out this cafe with a friend as I hadn't been before and I can say they did not fail to disappoint us at all, especially on the customer service front. We were being served by two blonde females who didn't care to really listen to our order when we repeated it 3 times and the one on the counter loudly and repeatedly asked us what our order is, disturbing the other customers who were seated and gaining us weird looks from them. There was no one else in the queue and they were standing behind the counter idly when we got there around 3pm on a Saturday, and we spoke clearly and loudly for her to hear our order. We felt they were trying to be discriminative towards us, two hijabis, as there was no reason they could not understand us, we speak clear British English in an English accent, whereas the ladies behind the counter both had thick european accents themselves. We asked for drinks to-go, which we had made clear through all of that repeating, yet the iced caramel coffee latte arrived on the counter in a glass jar, incompetent understanding was once again displayed. After rolling her eyes, the server preparing our drinks went to fix this (behind the one at the front counter), so she scraped the cream off the top with a spoon, agressively dumped the coffee from the glas jar into a plastic cup, and plopped the cream back on to it from that spoon. 🤢 It was not pleasant to see and tbh this totally put me off my drink. The other drink we ordered was their Special 5 Smoothie/Juice, which was also disappointing as she failed to blend the fruits properly and there was chunks of banana and strawberries still in there. The taste was okay as it included some nice fruits however would not recommend unless you want a lumpy "smoothie". Overall, disappointing service and drinks. Would not recommend and would never go again.

Great coffee and lovely cafe food in a cosy atmosphere. Chicken Chorizo and Mozzarella panini are very good value!

After 8 hours shopping it is always good to relax and have some excellent coffees at Muffin Break. The service is good as well and the staff very pleasant. Regards Gary

Very nice food and drink, nice to sit looking over the bull ring. Friendly staff. Pricier than I'd like but most coffee shops are and here were good size paninis.

The food was excellent, the coffee was delicious & the staff were so friendly & lovely! Would 100% recommend if you need a break at the bullring!

Best cakes in Birmingham and ultra friendly Staff , Dan remembered me from one previous visit about six weeks ago , always gave warm mud cake with whipped cream and now large flat white ( Dan gently up sold me to a large coffee , didn’t say anything just wanted to reward his excellent service)

the service wasn’t bad, however the quality of food and prices are something else, charged £2.70 for lipton ice tea which is sold elsewhere for around £1 and the brownies were stored in the fridge and had a horrible taste to them they tasted days old with traces of other food, waste of money

More like muffin broke my heart, the worker there told is we couldn't eat in because they close in 20 minutes which would have been fine had he not sent us away with this disgusting mess. The brownies we ordered contained nuts, which there was no warning for on the label, name or from the cashier, but thst doesn't matter as to taste anything other than the horrible, overwhelming flavour of fridge metal. We also bought two drinks, water, which raked up the bill to over 10 pounds for water and 2 brownies? Wouldn't have minded if only they tasted nice. Terrible experience would not come here again.

I have been coming to this Muffin Break in the Bullring for 2 years. At first it started out well. I could come here as a stranger and enjoy an afternoon break from shopping. Then it became personal. The manager a polish woman who makes a point that she doesn't like me. Because I have complained on several occasions. About the milk in the cappuccino being burnt. Do these people care? Clearly not. I have asked for the drinks to be remade. Made a point that I will complain to the area manager. Her response I am the manager. This coffee shop is owned by a man. It is a franchise and one of many. Profits come before customer service. The staff here do not care if they get your order wrong. They laugh behind the counter to my face. Initially I came on my own and I felt targeted for being a single woman. I would avoid this place and go some where else for quality instead of bought in cakes and over heated coffees. Avoid!

Enjoyed a good cuppa here and I must say the cakes and sandwiches looked really really good and I decided I would come back lunchtime but We ended up in a different part of the city so maybe next time I'm visiting

This is a very disappointing 'coffee and cake' venue whilst shopping in the Bullring. Produce is woefully of a poor standard. Taste and texture of muffins is dreadful. Coffee (if taken black) is to be avoided at all costs. It's so bitter on the tongue the aftertaste stays with you for hours. The staff are extremely pleasant and polite, which lures you into a false sense of security by ordering the muffins. Be warned!

We had a brief bite to eat on Sunday morning. The mushroom tart was just amazing. The coffee was great too. Better than what you get at Costa. Purchased food to take home too. The service was great and with a smile. The guy who was clearing the tables was very polite and thoughtful. Well done

Lovely toastie but the muffins are very dry. Went as we had sampled a gorgeous muffin a couple of days ago and wanted to have it for lunch.unfotunately the girl didn't know what it was. Very disappointed.

I had lunch here one Sunday. There were loads of tables to sit in. The service was quick as there weren't many customers. I really enjoyed my spinach and feta tart, which had been warmed up nicely. It was only about £4. Staff were friendly. A lovely rest for shopping!

Dirty tables rubbish left from the previous person, they gave me a dirty folk asked for another one and they put the dirty one back in with the clean ones will not be going back would not recommend this place.

I had the gluten free banana/chocolate muffin and a hot chocolate. It was nice. However, the lady who served me was very rude, she kept scratching her face and biting her nails. It wouldn’t hurt her to smile or say please and thank you. For this reason I will not be returning to Muffin Break.

The staff here are so wonderful. The coffee is great and the cakes are delicious. I always have an enjoyable time here .

Nice place for a quick bite. Loved the panini's, cakes, pastas.... And pretty much everything else. Bit expensive though, but it's in the bull ring so it's convenient while your shopping
