Permit Room in Brighton and Hove

We had the BEST time! The staff are so friendly and go above and beyond. The food and drink is delicious, the vibe is immaculate and the whole experience was just fab! Would highly recommend but definitely book as understandably they’re busy!

We had a wonderful evening here with a group of 9 for a Christmas/end of year celebration with our team. Michael our host was attentive and so kind to all making sure everyone was happy and catered for. The food and drinks were amazing and atmosphere buzzing with a warm feeling throughout - the toilets were spotless. Our team all mentioned that they would love to come back again and will also go with their friends and family. A fantastic place to celebrate - but be sure to book :)

We visited Dishoom Permit Room restaurant which is situated at the edge of the Lanes in Brighton. It looks small at the entrance but is quite large inside. The tables and chairs are kept very clean, as is all of the restaurant, including the toilets. The selection of food is Indian food. There is a large selection of foods and drinks. When it arrives at the table the food is hot, well presented and tasty. The staff too are efficient and very friendly. The restaurant gets very busy so it can be noisy.

We had an excellent night at Permit Room last night. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and the service was amazing. Our waiter Jack, was helpful, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble :)

Our second visit, this time bringing friends from the USA who were as pleased and impressed as us with the quality and taste of the food which was delicious. The decor and ambience of the dining area is very good and what made the evening was the friendliness helpfulness and efficiency of our waiter. The only minor downside was the acoustic of the dining area which made the conversations of diners seem loud but won’t stop us coming again. Altogether an excellent evening.

Relaxed service with a great atmosphere and food that’s not to be missed. On this occasion, I visited with my partner for a celebration breakfast. I had a double bacon naan, masala beans and my partner had the wrestlers naan. Both were absolutely delicious and set us up for a great day ahead. We had a really wonderful server (as per) who made some drink recommendations for us - the mango lassi punch is really very special. If you’re thinking of going, just do it. You’ll have flavourful food, tasty drinks and you’ll leave with a full stomach. You won’t regret it.

Relaxed and warm, brilliant food. Every dish was tremendous. Staff were super friendly and worked brilliantly considering it was so busy! Brilliant. Will be back!

I hadn’t been to the Permit Room before and I would describe it as Indian tapas. It’s all small plates which I think are intended to share….. The staff were very good and the food was also good. We went with the ‘non popadoms’ starters and all were very different from the usual Indian dishes. For the mains we stayed with a more traditional vibe and had curries and rice but you will not find a madras or any of the standard curries on the menu If you are a big traditional English curry person then this restaurant isn’t for you, one of our party was and they didn’t enjoy it all as every dish is ‘different’ to a standard Indian

Recently blown away by the meal we had at permit room! We had the Octoberbest menu and honestly couldn’t believe the generosity shown! The food just kept on coming and each and every dish was amazing. We also had the additional cocktail menu that was equally delicious. The service as ever was exemplary! Best Octoberbest menu to date !

I went to the Dishoom Permit Room, Brighton with a friend in August. The food was delicious, in fact I couldn’t fault any of it, the prawn recheado was amazing as was the half tandoori chicken. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff great. Very enjoyable meal.

the food was fresh and hot (like always) and tasted really good. the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, very friendly and easy to talk to. the aesthetic was pretty, layout of tables and chairs were slightly crowded where we were sat but not too much of a bother. it does a very good job at capturing asian food.

My fourth visit to Permit Room and everything was as wonderful as previous visits. Delicious food served piping hot and plentiful. The service is always friendly and welcoming - smiles all round. The crispy spinach chaat is one of my favourite dishes along with the Dishoom chicken ruby with basmati rice - and the naan yum! We've been with several different friends and its never disappointed - the half chicken tandoori is a particular favourite of my husband! Nice ambience, background music and toilet facilities. Can't wait to go again!

Had lunch at the Permit Rooms on a beautiful day in Brighton with my sister visiting for the day. Great setting, yummy food, fantastic service wonderful atmosphere. Sat on the terrace for lunch! Just perfect!

I fell into this restaurant, literally, while on a short trip to Brighton. Manager Michael not only helped me up but, along with his staff, took care of me so well that I forgot my embarrassment and had an excellent lunch. I’m a big fan of Dishoom but this was my first visit to Permit Room and have to say it was every bit as wonderful. Food delicious, surroundings comfortable and staff of the highest calibre. Go try it out. You won’t regret it.

Seven of us-all very excited to be here-were led to a lovely big table & introduced to our host for the evening, Jack. Jack turned out to be the hero of the hour-he couldn’t have done more to look after us. Him plus the most stunning Indian street food any of us have tasted in a long time, made the time we spent at the Permit Rooms, one of the best family nights out.

On the off chance popped on for breakfast and had The Wrestlers Breakfast, cooked to perfection and so filling. Today is part of their soft launch final training till main opening on November 1st 2023. As I cannot fault the service especially our not too attentive Millie, the atmosphere and decor and the food . Top marks all around can only get better, a credit to the Dishoon name
