Peppone's Restaurant in Hart

We came to Peppone’s yesterday for an amazing dinner. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Our starter we had a fresh seafood platter, followed by lobster and fillet steak. The food here beats many seafood restaurants around Surrey. We then followed our meal with homemade tiramisu which did not fail to disappoint us. We really enjoyed the meal thoroughly and could not recommend enough. I will 100% be returning. The service was incredible, such a welcoming atmosphere.

We have been to Peppone's several times before and loved it. This visit, the first disappointment was the reduced menu, which was not mentioned on the website! The second was the lack of social distancing monitoring. Children were wandering around, and females chatting in the loos when people were waiting to get in. The food was excellent, but was overshadowed by the lack of control.I hope this improves or they may lose customers.

Me, my husband and our two boys chose to visit Peppones as our first meal out of lock down. We had been waiting to go for quite some time, as I went for a function over Christmas 2019 and the picky bits were DELICIOUS. We had tried previously, only to turn up for it to be closed! So we took the opportunity to book post COVID.We turned up to a really warm welcome and were greeted and seated by the owner, which was really nice. The waitress was also very pleasant and I have to say, if I was rating best solely on service, it would be higher, as no complaints on this front unlike other reviews. However, we were told only as we got to the table that they were operating on a reduced menu, which was not mentioned at all on the website, or when we booked over the phone. There was only around 4-5 starters and a handful of pasta and main courses. Our boys didn’t want to eat anything on it and when we asked if there was simply a spaghetti bolognese or a spaghetti in pomodoro sauce, we were told no by the waitress. So we ordered them something we knew they wouldn’t eat, which ended up meaning we spent over £100 on a meal that our children barely touched. Our food was good, but by no means excellent, which was a real shame as my experience with the picky bits at Christmas had left me with high hopes! When the bill came, we were also quite astounded to find we had been served glass Diet Coke bottles and had spent close to £25 on drinks. Real shame but expensive for what it was. We will possibly return when it’s back to full menu to see if it was a one off disappointing experience, but wouldn’t take the kids and spend as much as we did the first time!

We've just returned from our dinner at Peppone's and I wanted to give our review while it was fresh in my mind. Firstly, I can, in theory, completely envisage visiting the restaurant under certain circumstances and having a wonderful time. Unfortunately, this evening wasn't those circumstances for us.We were greeted warmly by the chef, who, when we enquired how he was, said he was tired. Yikes, but hey, we asked! As he showed us to our table he explained that he *had* saved the best table for us as we'd reserved early, but then he'd given it away to other customers who wanted to move inside. So, we were shown to a table in the middle of the restaurant that we immediately noted was uneven. Our drinks order was taken quickly, at which time we informed the waiter about the wonky table and asked if there was something he could wedge it level with. The first thing he said was 'just lean on it'.... Thinking I'd misheard I asked again and he said he'd 'see what he could do', he never returned so we made do with the wonky table for the rest of the meal.Our drinks order was fulfilled in good time, unfortunately the same cannot be said for our food order. Firstly, it's worth knowing that the current menu is vastly reduced from the website, this is understandable in these times. There was no explanation of the dishes on the menu so we made use of the free wifi to look up dishes. And so we waited. And waited. And waited. We waited as other diners who had arrived after us had their orders taken. Half an hour later I grew a tad fed up and caught a waitress' eye who explained the chef takes the orders (more on that later) and he'd be with us in a moment. So, we waited a while longer while the exuberantly verbose chef finished his conversations at other tables. Finally our orders were taken.The wait for our food wasn't at all bad, no complaints there. Unfortunately the food was not great. Definitely not bad, but not great. My boyfriend had chicken in what he said tasted like a jar of Dolmio (yikes!) and chips that he said were obviously McCain's oven chips. I had chicken with mushrooms that I enjoyed. Unfortunately the potatoes that accompanied it, while tasty, were cold. As were the veggies.What Peppone's needs is a bloody good manager, because nobody seems to know what they're doing. Every member of staff seemed to have one very specific job which they didn't deviate from. The *only* person who took dinner orders was the chef. The waiter who took our drinks order ('just lean on it' guy) seemed perpetually confused, resulting in the chef yelling at him several times while we were there. The female waitress took pudding orders. She might have had other duties but we didn't witness them. So, we had chef Pepe taking customers to their tables, taking orders, regularly leaving the kitchen to converse with customers, cooking the food (one assumes), advising on wine choices, recommending changes to customers' orders, as well as playing DJ (he obviously decided the atmosphere needed livening up as he played several very loud disco style songs towards the end of our meals, accompanied by disco lights. Yes, really.). After finally getting our bill (only one person was able to do that, so we had to wait... again) we were then disappointed to find we'd been overcharged for drinks. Finally we got to pay the correct amount (we had to wait for the one and only member of staff who could take payment) and leave.In conclusion, we didn't stop laughing all evening, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. I can't help but think that if Chef Pepe was able to have faith in his staff to take care of things front of house and leave him to focus on the food, this restaurant would be significantly improved.

For those in Hampshire/Surrey way I can’t recommend this place enough for GF. My friend called in advance and when we arrived we were treated like royalty. GF beer, with a constant flow of anti pasta (bruschetta, olives, mushrooms, ratatouille, courgettes, squid, prawns, muscles, cold cuts...) followed by GF tomato and basil penne pasta with mozzarella.... soooo delicious!!! We were made to feel so very welcome - gorgeous views of the golf course with the pond including donkeys running after a heron - a very random sight! We sat outside too so as night fell had lovely stars above... all round lovely place with top notch service and food, thank you!!

This is the worst meal out I have ever had. Almost an hour after ordering the steak the chef came and told me he had ran out of beef and offered me pork instead (which was still charged at the full price) when this came it was overcooked and tough. My girlfriend ordered king prawns which were bland. The food was overpriced and the restaurant was tacky.We asked for our bill to get away quickly because we had had such a crappy time and the chef stopped the whole restaurant and started a monologue about 'why we decant wine' when pouring a glass for another table. This One-man-show took about 20 mins and included jokes about 'sexy women' and insights like 'wines with corks are nicer than those with screw caps.'The waiter said he was sorry but he was unable to give us the bill himself because 'they are not into training people here' so we had to wait for the chef to finish his speech.This disappointing, overpriced meal turned into absurdity and farce. Avoid this place like the plauge.

The food choice and presentation was excellent. We had a great family experience. Staff pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Visited for a birthday meal so ordered an expensive fillet steak (tornado rossini) which was overcooked, dry and chewy. When I complained the chef came out saying that I had ordered a medium cooked steak as though that was some sort of excuse. He also said that other people were eating fillet steak and had not complained which made me feel embarrassed but offered an alternative dish. Nothing I suggested was available so I ended up with swordfish which was just as bad so we just paid the bill and left. The menu is very extensive and impressive but the experience is disappointing and their attitude is insulting!

This is a hard one for me , can’t say the food was excellent but can’t say it was bad either , it was just ok, fillet steak over cooked and was going to ask for a new one but the chef was already at another table that was complaining and he shouted over to us is your steaks ok, a little embarrassed so we just said yes , didn’t want to cause a scene,It’s definitely what I would call old fashioned and old school cooking But I’m glad I went as can now say been there done that won’t go again

Terrible resturant with rude staff. We could not eat one of our meals as it was so badly cooked and still got charged for it! No atmosphere as there was only us in there for the entire evening. Would not go back again or recommend.

The proprietor asked what we liked and didn't like, then brought us numerous dishes family style so we could try everything. Fantastic food, delightful owner, great value for money. Don't be afraid to eschew the menu and go with the chef's suggestions!

we went as as a couple last night for Valentines Day .Lovely food , good price , very nice people . Not many in there on a popular night .Deserves to be busier , but maybe thats how they like it as it's been going for years

The venue is superb, the food was excellent, very well presented and the service first class. Peppone and his staff were all very helpful and friendly. We and our 40 guests had a wonderful, enjoyable afternoon. We can not recommend highly enough.

Attended a special birthday party this weekend It’s a lovely venue a little run down especially the toilets.... it could be a lot nicer. The buffet food was ok... nothing special but palatableGreat beer on tap Birra Moretti yummy!Massive let down was the Gin on offer, Gordon’s original and pink only which I must admit that is proper poor for a restaurant when most places have a selection of at least 2 or 3 different types... plus tonic on tap (Rank) bottled is much nicer. If I was ever to return I wouldn’t order the Gin lol

We have been here for New Year’s eve with our little boy. The food was great and the prices affordable. Peppone is very nice, he would serve you the food directly. The location is beautiful for any type of events. We will definitely go back soon to taste some original italian food.

Literally the best ever Christmas we’ve ever had. On arrival we had canapés the atmosphere was just fabulous. The wine was amazing. We then went for lunch. The turkey was the best I’ve ever had. The Christmas pudding was just perfect. And then a disco. From start to finish the best ever. Thank you Peppe and guys. X

On our way home that day we finally stopped by Peppone's restaurant off the Farnham Road, close to Odiham, and were both surprised and thrilled.

I booked 9 of us for a Volunteer Appreciation Christmas lunch and got a good deal for 3 courses and tea and coffee. I was a bit disappointed when I first got there to see we were the only group; no other diners were there. But this was soon made up for by the warm welcome and the great personality of Peppone who was a brilliant host. The food was lovely; served hot and the portion sizes were really good. Would definitely recommend and would come again.

We thought we were going out for our book club dinner and ended up having a great party with dancing and fun. Pepe is highly entertaining and made would could have been just another dinner out, into a fun filled evening.

Food was very good and so was the service,but the wine was a bit expensive. Peppone is larger than life and may be an acquired taste, but like everything else all this is very subjective. Will go back.

This week we were lucky enough to be taken for an evening meal at Peppone`s Restaurant at Farnham. What a truly wonderful experience it was ! From beginning... we were very warmly welcomed by Peppe on arrival...to end, when we forced down a cappuccino into our already overfilled stomachs ! Our experience started with a tasty selection of various olives, followed by a large platter of traditional antipasti meats and Italian cheeses. Then came the main courses... Steak Tournedos, cooked to perfection to our individual tastes. This was followed by an absolutely divine selection of sweets, all to die for ! Each course was complimented by wine from Peppe`s extensive cellar. Our heartfelt thanks to Peppe, Adele and their happy little band of helpers for a truly, truly wonderful evening.

We recently had the pleasure of what we can only describe as the perfect evening here. It was my Mum's birthday and we wanted her to experience something special. The staff were fantastic, helpful and attentive. The recommended wine accompanied the meal perfectly.

What a miserable Manager/Owner, blunt and rude.

I was taken here by a friend for lunch and we sat outside on a hot sunny day. Our table was covered by a crisp linen cloth and cushions brought out for our comfort.

Delicious real cooked Sicilian cuisine. 10 out of 10 Owners were very friendly and all food was cooked from scratch even on a quiet night of the week. I would imagine that this would be a great place for a function. Yum!

Went for a birthday meal. As a South African I was pleasantly surprised with a typical African braai/BBQ. We had steak, chicken and Borewors (farmers sausage) and good old sudza which is made from corn meal. It's a staple diet in Zimbabwe. Amounts other food served with olives. The owner and the staff are absolutely wonderful. Very friendly restaurant. The weather held out for us to be able to sit outside. It was a lovely day out. Thank you to Peppones we will be back.

This typical Sicilian restaurant is definitely off the beaten track, but if you don,t mind a bit of an off road experience down a lane, also shared by a golf club, then I think you will find it well worth the detour from the main road. The greetings and service have genuine Sicilian hospitality at their core and you can see why they have many loyal customers. The food is equally as good, we were a group of four and we started with shared anti- pasta and then chose different main courses, mine a delicious ricotta and spinach ravioli, others included risotto and a pork dish all got a big thumbs up. We were treated to a special Sicilian desert of Zepole ( not sure of the spelling! ) presented instead of the usual birthday cake and much more delicious.

I held my 50th birthday party at Peppones last weekend and have only praise for the service I received. Peppe is a consummate host and the life and soul of the party, he was easy to deal with and he came up with a range of ideas for my party. His food was plentiful and tasty and all the staff were excellent. His recommendation of a DJ - Brian - was excellent. He got us on the dance floor very early on and we never left. Overall, an excellent experience, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Peppones.

We have never visited this restaurant before, but were invited to a friends 50th birthday celebrations, what a find - the venue is Just wonderful and was decorated beautifully for the party and Christmas too. Staff were friendly and welcoming with great service, and the food was really exceptional especially when catering for large parties...I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the venue for anyone thinking of holding a celebration here, and we will be returning for lunch and an evening meal in the near future.

I organised my sisters hen party at Peppones and have to say the whole experience was fantastic. Pepe met face to face with me several times before the night to go over plans and come up with a custom menu to suit our needs. He went above and beyond to decorate the venue and put on entertainment for us and a 50th birthday party in the second function room. Despite there being two functions on one night the staff were very attentive, we had our own waiting staff. The food was fantastic, no complaints at all from the 25 girls that attended! The disco Pepe hired was also brilliant and really made the night. We will most certainly be returning! Definitely a place to arrange a function - you'll have a great night!

What an amazing night. All staff made us feel welcome even with another big party there! The owner personally came out to make sure everything was okay and joined in with some laughs!! The food here is amazing and I would be more than happy to come here again. Loved the atmosphere and to know you are well and truly looked after makes it even better. Thank you Xxx

Just want to say a massive thank you for letting us have my hen do at your restaurant. The service myself and all my other friends and family receieved was fantastic. Fuimos por primera vez con varios amigos y no me decepcionó. Fue recibido que era llevarnos al Peppe y de su barbacoa Brasileña y la cocina. La comida era excelente y el partido pronto ir yendo como Peppe de chef para DJ que algunas grandes canciones y bailes con los clientes.

No encontrará esta fácilmente a menos que estés local. Doble en el BP, luego por un camino de tierra detrás de las casas en mini campo de golf. El edificio empezó la vida de un club de golf de 1970 y no ha cambiado mucho, así que el ambiente está bien gastada. Pero nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y entusiasta si un poco efusiva. El chef Augustina hicieron lo posible para hacernos un plato de verduras, que era nos volveremos demasiado. El segundo campos igualmente generoso. Servicio atento (aunque había pocos comensales en nuestra visita, pero el bar estaba lleno) y genuina. Precios justos para la comida excelentemente preparado. Necesita una reforma en el edificio, pero el menú es interesante.

Fantástico para ver Peppe volver a su antigua forma de organizar gran fiesta y dando la noche un verdadero trago de exuberancia siciliana.

6 of us went on a Friday evening for a family dinner, rather than dine at the Fourseasons, where we were staying. Peppone's was great fun. we were met by the proprietor on arrival. The service and food that followed were very good, lots of explanations of the dishes, especially the 'specials' and lots of attention to detail and some extras thrown in. And a great recommendation for the red wine. If we are in the area again we will certainly visit. Not as expensive as I thought it would be, so a bonus.

I have been going to this place for half year now every week. The staff know me. I have been saying for months I am highly allergic to alcohol. I just said TWICE prior to receiving my lunch to the cook I am very allergic and must have no alcohol at all or I could die. So they decided to make me loads of sauce made with Sherry. And the cook didn't even know alcohol does not evaporate when cooked. Actually do not believe it was a certified cook either. I immediately started feeling ill. I got no help, wasn't asked if I need a doctor or make a phone call as the place has NO reception at all. To top it I was made to pay £17 pounds for the privilege of being poisoned. Very angry, disgusted and will never come again. What a horrid place.

I have been here a few times. Once to a wedding reception, News Years Eve (2015) and a works Christmas do (2016). Lovely venue, lovely food. Most enjoyable atmosphere. The owner meets and greets, works behind the bar, in the kitchen and is even resident DJ. Fantastic

Went as a part of approx 50 for works Christmas Party 9/12/16. Lovely decor, friendly staff but dreadful food service. What a shame as food was pretty good. Supposed to start dinner at 8 but not seated until nearly 9. Starters came out in dribs and drabs and many were finished before some had been served. Same applied to mains but took even longer, veg and pots came out last so many had almost finished before they were put on the tables. Desserts so late some had gone home. Had to ask for music to be turned down during dinner so we could talk and not have to shout at each other. Disco music was disjointed so dance floor was like the Hokey Cokey (in out, in out). Such a shame as great venue and pretty good food. They need a better restaurant manager.

Welcoming and friendly atmosphere, prompt service and delicious food.We ate our meal in the restaurant area which was lovely and had a good atmosphere. The function room also seemed like a fun place to eat with music and optional dancing - everyone seemed to be having a great time! The staff were friendly and accommodating and their Christmas menu was very good. Overall, we would highly recommend but make sure you do specify which room you would like to be in depending on what sort of noise/dancing levels you enjoy.

We went to Peppone's for a silver wedding anniversary party and it was a great venue.Right out in the sticks a few miles from Farnham, you will need to drive or get a cab but the service was very friendly & prompt, there was a good selection of drinks and the food - buffet style for this occasion - was plentiful and very filling.

So i booked a party for my partner here , well ,,,lets just say you feel like your not allowed to choose what you want for your party, i was charged a lot of money for four chaffing dishes of food( not worth it), then someone who worked there was snatching plates off of people and putting food on it !! its a buffet !! help yourself .. then i was informed by some of the guests that they were being charged different amounts for the same round of drinks, im not talk 5p or 50p difference im talking £4/5 difference, which put my guests off from staying.I then was informed that friends of the owner 6 of them were coming for dinner !!this is a private party !!when i asked about i was told its the owners friends blah blahits such a shame as the venue is lovely, i will not have another party or anythingthere sorry dont like writing crap about places , but i felt it was neccessary in this case ..

5 of us had a table booked for 7.30pm.One of our party is a celiac which was notified when the table was booked.The waiter did not seem to have a clue what this meant. A while after ordering our mealsthe chef came out to tell us that they had run out of filet steak but he could do T bone with the same sauces etc. So we agreed. It was not busy. When our starters arrive they brought an extra Calamari instead of a bruschetta. We wanted to order a bottle of Rose wine and asked to see the wine list as we had ordered by the glass before. When we looked there was no Rose on the list. he waitress brought a bottle over and showed us so we said we would have one. IT did not materialise and we had to ask again.Then our main courses arrived. The T bone steaks were tough and you could not cut them even the one of our party who was suplied with a steak knife. We sent them back . The garlic sautee potatoes were lovely !!!.The coffee left a lot to be desired I could not drink mine you could have stood a spoon up in it so to speak. Would I go back or recommend to a friend?Definately not. For the money they are charging I expect so much more. Had to come home and have something to eat.

Went with 5 couples for New Years Eve. Treated like family. Great food. Great host. Host did everything, like Fawlty Towers with class. Highly recommended. Will definitely return.

Our family had boxing day lunch there for 13 adults and 5 children.The food was served very promptly ,was hot as were the plates with most of use having different starters-mains-desserts. The restaurant was full with our table of 18 being the the smallest but we felt part of a happy large festive occasion. The children were catered for with very suitable young persons food with the 2 year old asking and getting jam sandwiches.My lobster was the best i have had for many years as was my wives beef wellington. A great time in a great restaurant with great food and service.

Have been to Peppones several times and have discovered that it is a gem. The food, the welcome, the atmosphere and the service are great. We went there as part of an office Christmas party and they proved themselves perfectly able to cope with a thirty people plus party in every way. We have also been as part of a family and it has been great fun with wonderful food and service. Overall, would highly recommend and we are looking forward to going again.

Went here recently with friends. We were given a menu beforehand and had to chose our 3 courses. Although the service was absolutely fantastic, I found the food disappointing. And so did some of the others that were there. Crab and prawn salad had pulled apart crab sticks, but plenty of prawns. Pate was disappointing. Soup was left by some. Main courses were a mixed bunch as well. The turkey dinners looked excellent and were highly rated by those that chose it. The chicken dinners were over cooked, the vegetables very crunchy, and the lemon sole wasn't lemon sole, but we could not distinguish what is was, because it was covered in pesto!No complaints about the deserts, they all looked very tasty.

Though I cannot fault the quality of the food, it would have been nice to be able to see it. The room used for larger parties had no lighting apart from flashing multicoloured "disco" lights. This meant you were either guessing at what was in front of you or being dazzled by the flashing lights. The music was also rather loud given there was no dancing taking place while food was being served.I appreciate they were trying to generate a party atmosphere, but the management seems to have lost sight of their primary role which is a restaurant, not a night club.

On arrival we were seated at a relaxed sofa area at the bar for a drink and a look through the menus. When food was ready we were taken into the main dining room.The meal was excellent - great quality and flavour. Service was also excellent, we were never left waiting but there was no hovering or feeling rushed.The surreal aspect was, going on a Tuesday evening to a restaurant quite out in the middle of nowhere, we were the only people in there! I would definitely recommend the restaurant on a weekend, or for if you don't like interacting with other diners!

Called to book a table from there website add, checked reviews and asked friends came highly recommended, but details on website ref opening times Is wrong, they don't open Sunday evenings or Monday's very disappointed. Haven't even got into the restaurant to try the food. Probably won't try again if the websites wrong what else is?

We have had many a meal at Peppones now and My wife ,myself and other members have had partys there, with great service,gorgeous venue! Food is out of this world!You always get a nice welcome from any of the staff. it is suitable for all the family, so great for lunch and dinner.I had a party there begining of October and it was a fantstic night!!

Where do you start to organize an 80th, peptones is the answer, living 200 miles away, I checked out trip advisor and also put a request for recommendations on Facebook, having never visited the place but all I got back was positive feed back.From the first time I contacted the venue I was put at ease, the staff and manager were brilliant and the day itself was a success, mum enjoyed her day, we couldn't believe how nice this venue was a little gem in the country.We requested an afternoon tea, thought it would suite the age group it was superb couldn't fault it, we had drinks on arrival, amazing sandwiches, scones cake with tea and coffee and plenty of it.I really can't thank the staff enough, for helping to make my mums special day so perfect, they couldn't do enough to help us.

This is truly a family run restaurant! Superb service and quite a banquet on our last visit to celebrate with friends. We had a typical Italian relaxing afternoon lunch that started at 1pm and finished about 5 hours later. Numerous platters across the courses finished with selection of desserts and tea/coffee. Peppones has a relaxed style and is very highly recommended!

My new husband Carlo and I were lucky enough to have our Wedding Reception at your wonderful Restaurant Friday 4th September 2015... What a truly amazing time we all had, your fabulous hospitality, amazing food and fantastic setting made our day totally perfect, there wasn't one single guest that didn't pass comment on the lovely welcoming atmosphere and great attention to detail you all gave us. Nothing was too much trouble. We are already planning future celebrations we can have with you...Fantastic!! Thank you all so much, Debbie and Carlo xxxx

Owner rude. Plus side the staff are lovely. , Food well starter was fab but main let it down tuna well over cooked. sorry won't be going back again.

The only thing that lets Peppone's down a little is the location. But grit your teeth as you a jolted along the approach 'road' and you will find a hidden treasure.The staff are a delight and look after you in true Italian style. They really seem to care about what they serve.My wife had gnocchi and I had a seafood risotto. Both delightful. We were served Italian breads, olives, home-made pesto and liitle fried risotto balls as an aperitif. All prepared to perfection.I happened to be there the night before with a large group of 20. They looked after us just as well. I had the swordfish- superb.

We booked cream tea for 20 and it was delicious. We started Italian: bolognese & veggie arrancini. Next: assorted sandwiches ranging from smoked salmon to egg mayonnaise. Luckily, we had room for the delicious fresh strawberry gateau, chocolate layer cake and mousse cake. The scones, cream and jame were both light and scrummy! We knocked back gallons of tea and we were thoroughly looked after by the staff.

A very good menu, however, ask the chef for his recommendations. You won't be disappointed. Various restaurant seating areas in a versatile setting. This restaurant is easily missed as it is off the beaten track - make an effort to track it down. It isn't cheap but it is worth every penny.

what a gem..tucked away you wouldnt know it was there. To find it you have to drive behind the BP garage towards the 9 hole golf course. Peppones is situated on the 9th (not being a golfer myself) . A beautiful well appointed restaraunt with outside seating over looking a wonderful pond. The staff a lovely and the food is fantastic. as we are here on the hottest day in the UK to date we sampled the salads which are well presented and hearty. Presented in typical meditteranian style and not overly expensive. Complimented with watm crusty garlic breqd it was a lovely summer lunch. Definately worth a visit.

Had arranged to play petanque with friends and we had pre-booked a meal with a pre-choice menu for after the game. It appeared to be a busy night with a school 1980's outing so the place was very noisy. Food not good. My pasta with chicken and bacon had no chicken and 2 miniscule pieces of bacon and a little watery tomato sauce. The side salad was lettuce, one slice of tomato and a few shards of carrot. Other side salads had cucumber etc. Dressing arrived after most people had eaten, I complained about the lack of chicken. Eventually after asking 3 times my bowl was take away and it returned with 3 miniscule cubes of chicken and 5 miniscule bits of bacon - all cold. Others in the group had ordered lasagne, burgers etc and we had all paid the same price. I think the majority were not impressed and had only booked here because of the location being next to the petanque.

What a great day and night we had here for my friends wedding.Of the beaten track but worth the drive the food is great and the staff are fantastic.

Off the beaten (and indeed tarmacked) track but a very friendly welcome and authentic Sicilian food. We had not been for at least 10 years and it seemed much extended and improved since our last visit.Great to get Aracini as an extra starter for the full Montalbano effect. Menu was extensive and varied and a pleasant change from the chain Italians its sometime hard to get away from. Waitress was happy to chat about the food and Sicily and made for a very pleasant dining experience.We will return much sooner this time.

Perhaps the chef was having a bad day but when we last visited in May the menu was exactly the same as it was when we first visited. No mention of specials. Food nothing special and, in all honesty, rather indifferent, bordering on the bland. The fishcakes were heavy on the potato and light on the fish and the mains were simply no better than that which a competent cook couldn't prepare at home, using supermarket ingredients. The 'Mediterranean vegetables' tuned out to be boiled potatoes and French beans, something of a let down. The steak was simply ordinary and the bass indifferent. Desserts gave the impression of having not been made on the premises and were stodgy and bland. Based on this experience we won't be returning.

I think you can learn a lot from many organisations by the way they treat the small customer. Peppones is a case in point.It's situated down one of the the most potholed roads in Hampshire. Don't let that stop you! It's beside the Bowenhurst Golf Course, a cheap and cheerful place perfect for the occasional golfer.My son and I had just played 9 holes and I said "Let's get a drink as we strolled by Peppones". We walked in and ordered two orange juices (my son's a teetotaller and I was driving). The man behind the bar was charming "Of course!" and within a minute we had two large glasses of OJ, not the tiny amounts a typical pub would serve. We felt like a little snack; a plate of chips. Did we want one plate or two? Just one. A few minutes later it arrived, piping hot and perfect - and amply large for two of us.So we must have been just about the cheapest meals they've served ever. Yet we were made to feel appreciated and the service was excellent. Incidentally, those chips were great, too.The next time I eat out, Peppones will be the place we'll go to, this time for a proper meal.

The chef/owner? was very friendly and kindly explained some of the menu items and specials and we went for the antipasti as a starter. It was delicious and there was plenty of it. A little eccentric presentation on a slice of log. Yes, log. Mains were delicious, tagliatelle, spaghetti, lamb and a sea bass special. Desserts were 50/50. I had a choc orange marscapone cheesecake that was amazing but others had the chocolate mousse. Expecting something light, it was anything but and the two chocolate lovers were disappointed. Overall a meal for 4 with drinks came to £168 plus tip. A large chunk of that was the starter, 10.95 each. Had we checked the price first I'm not sure we would have gone for it. So make sure when they're explaining anything not on the menu that you get the price. Finally for a restaurant that's off the beaten track there were a couple of "interesting" females in the bar that were there all evening, not wearing very much and generally lowering the tone of the place. Staff seemed to know them but I don't think they're presence was doing the restaurant any favours. Overall a very good meal and we would go again.

The best Italian by far in the Fleet area. Sicilian to be exact. Been there with Italian friends and they were amazed by the food and the people. The staff are just simply wonderful. Maybe notthe most 'romantic' atmosphere but hey I'm going there for food! If you select one of there massive antipastis don't bother with a main, it's simply a superb selection. My favourite restaurant in the area. Nice little 9 hole golf course so if you fancy a good walk ruined followed by a superb mealthen go to Peppones.

Never even heard of this place. It does seem to be in the middle of nowhere which explains why such a superb restaurant was so quiet on a Saturday night. Really can't fault Peppones, it just would have been nice if it was a bit busier. Can't wait to go back!

We visited this restaurant for my father in law's birthday,as a group of 7.the service was excellent,very attentive and polite.food was well cooked,an excellent selection for vegetarians, I had the gnocchi,which was delicious,my partner had tortellonio which he enjoyed.puddings were tasty,especially the lemon lime cheesecake.would recommend this restaurant for those looking for a quite,pleasant experience without breaking the bank.

In a country full of chain Italian eateries it is almost a novelty to find a stand-alone, independent Italian restaurant. We went on a Monday in early January and had the place to ourselves (well, apart from the staff). It was, as a consequence, a quiet and intimate dinner. Decently sized menu with a range of dishes suitable for most, with prices to match. My prawns considered excellent and wife's fishcakes equally so. Mains of steak (me) and duck (wife) very good indeed with my steak being one of the best I've had outside of Italy. We shared a bowl of vegetables which were good although the carrots were a little al dente. Dessert (chocolate souffle) good but not exceptional. The restaurant itself is easy to find if you know where it is but not quite so easy if a first time visitor. Pleasant, fresh decor and a light and spacious interior. The staff were friendly and attentive. I am torn between ranking this 'good' or 'excellent' but have opted for the latter on the basis that it stands head and shoulders above most similarly-priced establishments in the UK (and certanly anything within the immediate vicinity). Compared to those in Italy and France, however, it is not quite there. But it has the advantage of being local. Strongly recommended.

I booked a table at the restaurant for my wifes 40th, there were 15 of us including 7 children. It always worries me what the food will be like when booking a large table, but I am happy to say the food was excellent. After we had eaten Peppe the chef donned his ''Kiss me quick it Xmas'' tie and became the DJ and led us dancing the night away. I can honestly say the atmospehere was fantastic and food too match & would definatly recommned to others.

Must have visited Peppones 20 or so times over the last few years. I meet a pal there for lunch.The owner Peppe is a real character, but in a positive way, charming and humorous without being invasive. The staff are always all Sicilian, so it has that element of authenticity. Have only been there for lunch so cant comment on evening settings, but lunchtimes seem quiet, which we like, and the food has always been very enjoyable, and very good value.Its a bit tucked out of the way so do check a map if you plan to visit. Car parking not a problem,

Just had lunch here on a friend's recommendation. We had a very enjoyable meal and the staff were friendly and helpful. Spacious with a nice atmosphere and great to have a separate area to order/have drinks. The food was excellent we tried the fish cakes, sardines, lamb cutlets and steak. They were so very accommodating with my baby. See you again very soon.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful, but I'm afraid I was rather disappointed with my meal (prawns). I didn't make a fuss, but quietly told them after. They were apologetic, and gave us a different dish and more wine on the house. That seemed fair.

I've eaten here a couple of timesI've found it be very friendly and fantastic atmosphere, however the food isn't always the highest quality but maybe I've just been unluckyWe'll go back again though

Authentic Italian cooking in a pleasant environment. We particularly enjoyed the lamb and special lemon sorbet with vodka and prosecco. Looking forward to trying more dishes on the menu soon. The staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble. Grazie mille, ci vediamo presto!

Visited with my parents who were in the UK for a few weeks & wanted a roast so decided to give their Sunday lunch a try, unfortunately it wasn't available but the quality of the food & the service from the family & the travel lessons about Sicily more than made up for the lack of a roast, 3 of the 4 had duck & I had a sirloin all cooked wonderfully, started with 2 baskets of Sicilian bread & olives, pesto & sun dried tomatoes, all I'm sure home made, excellent Montepulciano red wine to wash it down, desserts were to die for & excellent value for money, all in a tranquil setting, lived just 5 miles away all these yrs & will for sure be back, thanks Peppone's :)

We ate here last week and the food was delicious. Service great, family run and they were so friendly and welcoming!Only downfall is that the portions were far to big, could if eaten half the pasta and that would have left room for desert!

Attended a function here recently. The host , staff and food are excellent, Not sure how it works as a drop in restaurant, haven't tried that but on this day as we took over most of the place it was very good, for a function. Great for weddings, special birthdays etc...The location is fine, good parking, lovely grounds etc etc. and after that it just got better,Wonderful hosts, excellent Italian food & wines . Def. to be recommended.

The third birthday party at Peppe's did not disappoint either. [The first being first being fie years ago ... with another in between]. It was good to see the refurbishment had been completed and the place looked much more inviting. The service and food were terrific as before and we wish we lived nearer to visit more often.

This is my second visit, this time just a quick lunch. We came rather late but that was not a problem. Such friendly welcoming people, didn't rush us and our salads were beautifully presented, couldn't resist the deserts either.This family run restaurant offers a warm and friendly atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble, this is not reflected in the very reasonable prices, a rare thing these days!! Mum was so impressed she has booked her 80th birthday party here. Cant Wait

Having dined at this restaurant previously, decided to visit again to take my dad out for Sunday lunch, and was not disappointed.Was given a warm welcome by the staff, and owner, and sat in the bar with pre dinner drinks perusing the menu. The menu was a set menu - 3 courses for £18.95, and considering you can pay this amount for 2 courses at a pub nowadays, seemed really good value. Can recommend the duck and orange pate, and my dad's still raving about the avocado with melted cheese. Had the stuffed lemon sole on garlic spinach for main, which was light and delicious, and left room for the exquisite tiramisu!For a three course meal for four people, including bottle of wine, and coffee for £99 is terrific value, and was a most enjoyable experience, and will definitely return!Bellissimo!

Despite living in the area for 12 years, sadly we'd never heard of Peppone's, and that's a great shame, as we had an absolutely superb evening out with lovely food, and were well looked after by the friendly staff.The whole place has apparently been refurbished fairly recently, and they have made an excellent job of it, it looks top-notch and the decor is crisp and clean, and the toilets are definitely worth a visit ! A lot of restaurants could learn a lot from what they've done here.On arrival we were welcomed into the bar area, and ordered drinks before being shown to our table. Although there was a party of 12 nearby we experienced great service, and my sirloin steak was cooked to perfection and my partners duck was superb.We weren't under any pressure to eat up and go, as you feel in some restaurants, and the owner even came over for a chat with 2 glasses of wine which he gave us for free !! This restaurant is now certainly on my list of favourite places to eat, and i've already recommended it to my friends, and will be going back again soon.

The staff lost our order, the chef/owner blamed us for this failing and was extremely rude to us for complaining. Then served us a lasagne that was so overcooked and dry that it was impossible to cut the crust. After further complaints from us he refunded our money, great but we had a ruined day and were still hungry.

We ate here for the first time last night with a tastecard and were really impressed: lovely staff, great food and a good atmosphere. There was a big birthday party going on in the other room but the staff still seemed to take great care over us, first bringing us drinks at the bar, before the chef came over and offered us 'the proper Italian experience' (his words!). The four course meal we had wasn't on the menu - it was an antipasti to start, then pasta with a meat and tomato sauce, followed by three different meats in different seasonings with potatoes and vegetables, and finally a sort of chocolate and caramel cheesecake for dessert. Every course was delicious - we both agreed that it was one of the best Italian meals we'd eaten. For the dinner for two plus two glasses of wine the bill came to £40 with the tastecard discount. We will definitely be returning!

Looked at previous good reviews and I decided to book for a family birthday. We decided to look at the fixed price 3 course Sunday Lunches Menu and ordered our preferences which turned out to be totally misleading (only found out when paying the bill). What we thought would be a choice of 6 main courses was only 1 choice of roast pork and no prices were given for the other choices for their Sunday lunches shown on the same menu, which would have made this a lot clearer and also give us some indication of what we would be charged! My Sunday roast pork was delivered beautifully cooked but alas the roast potatoes and vegetables arrived 20 mins later, this affected 3 meals and wasn't eaten! Although the staff were very friendly and the food we had was cooked well, the cost was a lot more than expected. Two of the lighter desserts were off the menu and only fudge cake or treacle sponge cake offered. As we were celebrating back home with a birthday cake declined these choices. As 3 of us had the starters and main course (3 course fixed lunch price), we then ended up paying for a pudding which we didn't want! Because it was my birthday lunch I didn't want to complain, so went home to enjoy the rest of the day and then my daugher who is an accountant looked at my total bill and worked out that I had been £8 overcharged as well. She telephoned and was told to call and collect the amount and have a free tea! I would like to point out that there were only 6 other people dining on this particular Sunday. Sorry to say I wont be returning, which is a shame as the food we had was cooked well, staff were friendly, the setting was lovely but the service and misleading menu apalling!

Just got back from a delicious Sunday lunch at Peppones, authentic Italian food, service and atmosphere superb. Set 4 course menu for Easter Sunday lunch for £25, highly recommended. Best food ever had outside of Italy

Visited on boxing day. At the same time there was a large group who were very noisy.No problem they were enjoying themselves. My father is a bit deaf. We asked to be put in a quiet room. The hosts could not be more helpful. We were given a table in a quiet area of the restaurant, far from the loud fun of the other group.The only issue is that we wanted to order from the a la carte menu.As it was Christmas they did not appear quite as ready, but I think that was probably our fault.

This was a perfect venue for very good food, great atmosphere and great service. Went for a friend's extended lunch (group of 24) and everything was faultless and excellent value too. The Sicilian flavour was present in food and service and there is absolutely nothing I could fault here!

Went with Friends on Friday evening. The Restaurant was busy as there were two large groups having Christmas Parties.Fortunately there are 2 rooms, one either side of the Bar, so we were able to choose the quieter one.The Chef came and greeted us and apologised that it would be a little while before our order could be taken, due to the 2 Christmas Parties, but he sent over some nibbles to have with our drinks while we were waiting.When it came to ordering, the Chef did this himself. When we mentioned that the Menu was slightly different to the one shown on their website, he said he was happy to cook whatever we wanted as long as he had the ingredients and two of our part did exactly that !Food was excellent and very generous portions.Service was brilliant and you could tell that it was a family run business.Will certainly be going again.

Widespread family met for lunch. 16 in number. Adequate menu for choosy persons. Food and service excellent and exceptional value.

Booked for my daughter's 18th party. Had to rearrange at the last minute due to a death in the family. Dealt mainly with Augustina who was brilliant throughout. The venue was perfect. Although tucked away there is a large car park. So no tight squeezes. The room itself had a separate bar area to one side where people can mingle and a dance area with tables around the edge.We had a buffet included and the food was server in a timely manner. When a tray of food looked like running low it was quickly replaced bythe excellent staff.The staff are very flexible so if you want to just have a chat just give them a call.I run a local fencing company in Farnham (Final Fencing) so if you want a reference just give me a call. This is a genuine reference from a genuine punter!Pepe (owner) runs a great place and is supported by wonderful staff.Well done!
