Stopped by for a bite to eat and ordered the open club sandwich and quiche of the day. Sandwich only came on its own so ordered some extra fries and the quiche came with fries and salad which was nearly too much for us and we do like our food! Both were delicious, throughly enjoyed. The staff were friendly and service was quick. I would definitely come back again

Went here for a quick bite and chose the scones. My partner had the fruit one with jam and I had the cheese one. We both had flat white coffees with oat milk. The scones were large and very tasty. The coffee came from a machine and was poor. It was in a small cup as flat whites generally are, but was an espresso with a lot foam on top. There was no milk to taste. Staff were fine.

We visited with our children age 13 and 9. We did the tractor tour which was really informative about the conservation work of Pensthorpe, the history and the different species of birds and planes. This cost extra (about an extra £14 for 2A2C) but was well worth it - the kids were given a spotter sheet of things to spot on the tour so kept them entertained. The park itself has an amazing outdoor play area suitable for all ages. The little stream to walk through was extremely welcomed as a little cool down from the heatwave! We had booked the indoor play area, not sure if it was really suited for our children’s ages (was free to book an hour time slot) but actually they had a great time. It was all wooden and natural and there was a little cafe area and seating upstairs for adults. The walk around the park was really good, lots to see - plants, flowers, sculptures, lakes, bird hides, ducks and flamingoes. There was a lot of walking but also lots of benches along the way to stop and rest at. I was really impressed with the amount of wasp traps in the trees too, wasps usually spoil a day out like this but we didn’t have a problem with them at all. We all really enjoyed our day and thought it was well worth the entrance fee. We will definitely be back.

The Nature Reserve & Kids Play Park is beautiful and have no problem paying £50 for two adults and two kids under 6 as it clearly goes to the upkeep of the place, However the cafe massively lets the place down. First day of half term and seemed to be understaffed. You have to find your own table (No menus so no clue what your going to order) and then join the queue that is tailing out of the door, not ideal if you were on your own with kids. £32 for the following, - two fish finger sandwiches (that although we were told it comes with chips it doesn’t) to be fair to the lad working he did bring out 7 chips in a butter ramekin when we asked -a kids nugget meal, unsure if the nuggets were chicken or a recently deceased flamingo. -3 cans and 2 cartons This is silly money when considering both the quality of food and the wait time (25 minutes in the queue and a further 25 minutes once ordered) We’ve got no issue paying that if the food is up to standard but on this occasion we walked away feeling ridiculously ripped off. I don’t blame the wait staff i think they were working with what they had, it would be much more efficient to have table service. The place was probably at 65% capacity so would be interesting to see the problems when full. Just from looking about and listening I think a lot of other customers were also not over the moon. Food, wait times and service system needs to be massively improved to warrant the prices charged. I think that if we had paid half the price it would have been value for money.

Only gave them 4/5 as found it odd that you had to get a table before you went and ordered, which meant that you had to leave something on the table to reserve it as there were no menus on the tables. After ordering inside, the food is brought to the table, food was very good, egg mayo sandwich came with crisps and a small salad, hot meals were also available. Staff were friendly and seemed very organised

We visited Pensthorpe recently with friends - the Millennium Garden always looks amazing at this time of year - and as the Cafe was not busy we decided to have lunch before leaving. The food was good - we had quiche and salad, and "posh" fish finger sandwiches - and served very quickly. The waitress made sure we had everything we needed and returned later to ask if everything was OK. All in all we enjoyed our lunch but just two things could have been better. Firstly, on entering the Cafe to order at the counter, I attempted to use the "automatic" sanitiser dispenser by the door, but having stood with my hand underneath for some time to no avail, I went and found another standard dispenser by the exit door. This worked but the sanitiser was so thick and sticky that I then had to go outside to the loos and wash it off my hands! I pointed out the non-working sanitiser to a young man who was clearing tables, only to be told "well, it was working this morning". Not exactly the customer-oriented reply I was expecting! Our other quibble was being served our food on narrow wooden boards which proved totally useless at containing everything. Having deconstructed our stacked sandwiches in order to eat them, we ended up with food falling off the board onto the table and the floor - which was an expensive waste. Serving a very thick sandwich speared with a stick on a board may look attractive but really isn't practical and, in current times, a wooden board may be perceived as more of a hygiene risk than a china plate put through a dishwasher. Perhaps this might need a rethink. Having eaten in several places since lockdown restrictions were lifted and noticed how much prices have risen, we felt that the Courtyard Cafe was still good value for money and we would certainly eat here again - but preferably not off a board!

Visited cafe yesterday afternoon for tea, serving area inside extremely hot and unpleasant which put us off having any of the cakes on display (although covered) the heat could cause problems with the buttercreams etc. just not worth the risk having sat there for many hours, surly they should be kept cool. Outside seating area very dirty and an abundance of flies on tables (I know it is a natural park but flies like un-clean places/surfances). Myself and a friend thought we'd give the restaurant a try as our friends had been and said they had a great meal, so I had The Home-Made Halloumi Burger and my friend had a Posh Fish Finger sandwich, what can i say, they were both delicious, my burger was like something id never tried before, with two different dressings incorporated within the brioche bun and the halloumi had been bread crumbed and fried Yummy! My friends Fish Finger sandwich was an actual show stopper, it was huge, two pieces of freshly battered fish, between two doorsteps of white bread, it also had a lemony mayonnaise, again delicious. The service was great, everyone smiled and was attentive without being intrusive, nothing was to much trouble. We then went for a walk around the park, and the gardens and wildlife were beautifully maintained/cared for. After our lengthy walk (30 mins!) We went back for tea and a delicious slice of homemade cake.A really great reasonably priced experience, well done Pensthorpe keep it up

A lovely spot to rest your legs while exploring Pensthorpe, ( or as it is outside the actual park just a pop in). There is a wide selection of food, so you can breakfast on arrival ,or pause for lunch (light or more substantial), or just enjoy tea and cake. You could of course do all three, but judging by the portion sizes we had, (burger and lovely chips), you’d be pushed. Drinks were available for all tastes together with snack items. The food arrived quite quickly and it was well prepared, presented and tasted great. The staff were pleasant and friendly with a smile on service. There is the option of indoor or outdoor seating with large umbrellas if you wanted a bit of shade, there are also clean loos inside. Considering that you are a fairly captive audience prices are reasonable. Give it a try you’ll not be disappointed.

Great and very handy café to visit after a you have exhausted yourself going around the Nature reserve. The coffee was great, as were the cakes! - and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The building is light and airy with a nice outdoor patio to sit in the better weather. What was disappointing was that the place was packed with a 'mother and toddler. group and the noise was unsettling to say the least, with children running round and round like motorbikes going around the wall of death and faces smeared in a mixture of nasal gleet and chocolate. The noise was raucous to say the least as no attempts at parental control was evident. So generally what could be a place I would love to sit and relax in and have a meal, because a bit of a nightmare. Next time I visit I'll make sure it's on a warmer day and I can sit outside. This in no way detracts from the wonderful staff who were actively present and working very hard to try to keep everything clean and in order, so maybe another day will be better.

The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the coffee cake, but this is a personal preference. We requested an outside table with an umbrella shade, this was also done for us. Part of the excellent Pensthorpe Natural Park the cafe is clean, spacious and bright. Unfortunately it suffers badly from the modern disease of flat, hard surfaces everywhere which means if there are more than a handful of people in the cafe no one can converse and be heard because the sound bounces around like an echo chamber. Spoilt our lunch as we were on a long term catch up with family and still don't know what they said. Food was pretty good and not bad for a family attraction, ie. scampi and chips for £8.95 ( according to the online menu) except when we got there they didn't have it. The park itself is fantastic and well worth an all day visit. Shop, viewing gallery and parking all spot on. Considerable trouble has been spent on a kiddies play area by the look of things too.

Those who had Chicken Chasseur had a bowl with two chicken breasts, nice and moist on mash with carrots and broccoli, there was a lovely thick rich sauce over it. The roast beef was nice and pink and there was a generous helping, the Root Vegetable casserole was served with a hunk of bread and was both tasty and filling. The Apple Crumble with custard and the Sticky Toffee pudding were both very generously portioned and very tasty. The orange syllabub was creamy and light and beautifully flavoured but very filling. Weather was varied, however there was plenty to amuse our 2yr old on both days. We had a very informative talk on the Pensthorpe Explorer where we ticked off the card and then got a stamp. We played on the outdoor play equipment, looked at the bug hotel, saw the red squirrels and birds and played in the soft play area. We ate both days in the cafe, good quality and value. Would definitely come back when next on holiday.

I had a coffee and fruit scone, and my friend had a coffee and shortbread, both delicious. We then had tuna mayo sandwiches on delicious granary bread with crisps and a small salad with balsamic vinegar, unfortunately we could not manage a desert or cake, although there was plenty of choice and they all looked delicious.

The menu had a good choice of dishes. It was what I would call family food ideal for a holiday. The service was swift and the staff friendly. The chips - I have never had such crispy and tasty chips. Will certainly go again.

Eating just after midday I did expect to find it difficult to find a table and all of the outdoor tables were taken however there were plenty of clean tables inside. Ordering is at the till and this was undertaken very efficiently and our food was not that long coming. Two of us had burgers and these were served on a wooden platter with a pail of very nice chips, the burgers were large and very tasty. One had a baked potato with filling and one Salmon fish cakes on a bed of salad with Dill sauce. All plates were cleaned which was testament to the quality.

Having spent the morning in the reserve, needed a light lunch before moving north to the coast. Because of the nice weather the cafe was very busy and all the outside tables were occupied. However, plenty of room inside. Good selection of meals on the menu..

The Courtyard Café is a very pleasant place to visit, whether or not you are visiting the nature reserve. There is loads of parking and it's located just off the main road.I stopped here for a coffee and to allow poochie to stretch her legs. The coffee was lovely and it was very nice to find that the café is dog friendly. The staff are extremely friendly too!

Very limited in all but price. I realise it's really for kids snacks but a little imagination and offering something better than a supermarket cafe wouldn't take much, especially from a company owned and run by Jordans (organic cereals) with a massive government subsidy (HLS).

Called in for sunday lunch. Partner had roast beef which he said was good. Served very promptly - had only just sat down.Yorkshires and potatoes hadn't liked being under warming lamps as could tell they'd been there a while but ok. Carrots and roast parsnips good. Meat portions good size and tasty. Broccoli stems hard but heads soggy. No cranberry sauce despite roast chicken being 1 of the 2 meats.Reasonable price for portion.

My daughters and i went for afternoon tea for my birthday, firstly i must congratulate the staff, they knew who we were on arrival were friendly and kept checking if we needed refills without being over powering, got it just right throughout our tea, we had beautiful weather and sat outside in beautiful surroundings. Some reviews state ,they had a bit of a wait, but ours was sent out directly, but that isnt the good point, hence only 4 stars, we feel the tea was made ready for us on our arrival, so the sandwiches were dried already, cakes delicious and fairly priced ,( if you see some other prices for pm tea this was a fair price) ,just shame about the sandwiches, so i would have preferred a little wait so our sandwiches were made fresh, scones a little dry too, but jam and cream were amazing. Would i go back, most definitley.

Visited at a very busy lunchtime-served pretty quickly to order. Food arrived pretty promptly, maybe 10 mins wait which we were happy with. Delicious food, good portion size-good value. Disappointed that someone had a dog, which was not kept on the floor- if they are not allowed in the park-why bring them at all?

A busy Mothers Day but we found seating outside with ease in the glorious sunshine. Pre-Warned it may take 20 minutes for food but if didn't. Kids pick your own lunch had a great selection and nice healthy options too - nice to see a good variety of drinks for kids that are not full of additives! She really enjoyed her pick n mix and ate it all! We had jacket potato and a ciabatta with wedges - lovely! Can't complain about any of the food. Good size, nice quality, presented well too. It's slightly on the more expensive side for a meal but it is an attraction cafe so expected these sorts of prices. However it's not too far off the mark though! Went back for cake and coffee later, so couldn't have been too bad! ;)

I visited the cafe with my wife, it was a group booking and there were about 20 of us. The menu was restricted, Roast Beef, Chicken and Vegetable Stew and Stilton and Broccoli Bake, The Beef was very popular and was very nice and tender although another slice would have been welcome, potatoes and vegetables were very well cooked. The Bake was very tasty if a bit lacking in sauce really. Choice of Desserts saw Apple crumble the most favoured, a nice tasty helping with custard. The White Chocolate mousse was somewhat grainy and tasteless. We had coffee and mints and the coffee was very nice, not the usual, it actually had some taste. Service was as always here efficient and all done with a smile. This cafe is certainly worth a visit if only for its beamed roof!

We came in for Lunch today and want to start off by saying that the location is idyllic, the food is delicious and most of the staff are wonderful. However, our meal was completely bulldozed by one member of staff (don’t know her name, elderly, black hair, heavy makeup). Not only would she not leave us alone for the duration of our meal which was very off putting, she proceeded to try to force feed me mushy peas using a dirty spoon off of the floor. At the end of our meal we were sitting and enjoying our drinks when she then took them from our table, we were considering getting coffees but felt very pressured to leave after such disastrous service. We are honestly embarrassed for you at No 1, that kind of behaviour was not very becoming at all…. What would have been the perfect meal out ended up being a complete nightmare.

Stayed for one night, all the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, clean , light and comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of freshly cooked food, cereals, pastries and fruit. Will definitely return and would certainly recommend staying here

Sadly the food didn’t match the lovely welcoming service. Sunday lunch was expensive - £20 for a trio of roasts. The veg was odd - leeks and carrot with some very hard brocolli. Overcooked roast potatoes and parsnips. Potential to be a nice Sunday lunch but needs a fair bit of work. £20 is a lot for a toast but this place really cannot justify the price, sorry 😔

Over priced! £11.95 for toasted sandwich that came with small side salad, small pot shop bought coleslaw and handful chips. Had bacon and brie filling with so much cranberry it tasted more like jam sandwich. With a coffee each bill came to £33. Most costly lunch I've had for ages. Won't be rushing back.

Down in Worstead on wee business trip, asked about possibility of lunch nearby and were directed to the White Lady. It was around 14:30 on a Sunday afternoon so expectations weren't too high (would have settled for a sandwich...). Friendly welcome, assured food would be no problem and we're given 3 menus! We're invited to sit anywhere we chose so opted for window seat in dining area to rear. We both opted for Sunday roast topside. Absolutely fantastic. Beef cooked to perfection, awesome roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud, came with glazed chantenay carrots, buttered green beans and zingy red cabbage, jug of lush gravy and topped of with dish of unctuous Cauliflower and cheese (each by the way). Thinking about making the 3 hour drive again just to have that experience again.
