There's something about national trust cafes. Overpriced service is always poor and the food is always substandard Paid £3.30 for a bottle of water. There was no filling station for us to refill ours.

We came here to do parkrun on our journey home from Caernarfon what a morning it absolutely poured down of rain so the views were of mist. We then finished and enjoyed a cuppa from the cafe and then the rain had stopped and the views appeared we will be back to explore as the route would of been stunning had the weather been sunny 😎

Two cafes on site, the smaller one has a very limited selection cakes, sandwiches and toasties. The cakes were left uncovered, which was unhygenic. The larger cafe has a limited selection of hot food plus sandwiches. We were disappointed to find how limited the selection was, especially as several hot food items were sold out at 1230 leaving a mediocre selection of jacket potatoes, bean chilli or sandwiches. More cakes left uncovered, so again disappointing hygiene. Won't be rushing back, even assuming that I want to pay the exorbitant entrance fee to the castle. The cages are not accessible without paying to go in.

The cafe was very good, a little pricey but you expect to pay more from the National Trust. The two lads that were behind the counter were most helpful and very courteous. Enjoyed the experience.

We made the mistake of going back to this pub having visited several times over the years, it was completely dead and the bar lady had a serious attitude problem, when two other guests arrived the bar woman was now siting in the corner and i pointed her out simple saying the bar woman was over there - she completely turned on me obviously annoyed i’d called her a bar woman ( she clearly wasn’t a solicitor) which also resulted in her partner becoming extremely aggressive and was expecting a physical assault to be taking place, luckily i managed to de escalate the situation which if full of locals would’ve only been worse. The woman clearly has mental health problems and probably a drug user and shouldn’t be working in an environment selling alcohol.

Disgraceful attitude from staff. Extremely rude and offensive. Tables cluttered and not cleared of dirty crockery. Will not visit again.

We were looking for somewhere downtown harlech for a drink and food with our two boys, 9 and 14 years of age. We read the sign outside. Everyone welcome except for children. Dogs especially welcome. Adults only. A few of the local guys told me it's a swingers hotel where the dogs can get involved. Avoid. If you do want a good pint with holiday makers and locals all enjoying good food and drink and friendly conversation I would highly recommend walking an extra 200yds to the pub right next to the train station. Dogs, kids, humans all seem to be equally welcome

We had a lovely late lunch. Chicken and quiche, both with great chips and salad, sitting in the glorious sun with a great view! What a find!
