Nice little cafe with friendly staff. Food is very simple but perhaps a little overpriced. They do however need to invest in a proper coffee machine. Tassimo coffee is not really acceptable - there are plenty of cafes in Stamford serving real coffee, and I am sure that they miss out on trade because of this.

A really lovely old fashioned tea room playing nostalgic music in the background . Lovely tea and the latte was piping hot . We had the savoury scones , beautifully made ( gorgeous actually! ) and well presented. Give this tea room a go! We will back for more !!

Lovely staff but the filter coffee (£3) and toasties were very poor value for money - thin cheap white bread with minimal filling. And to charge £7.25 for such a meagre offering is pretty awful

When we entered we thought the place had a nice old fashioned ambience. However, thats where the positives ended. The latte coffee came unsugared but was horribly sweet. When we asked the waitress if sugar had been added she said it was how it comes as it’s a Tassimo coffee! The lesson there is do not order a coffee unless you like it sweetened. The ham and mustard white sandwich was on very thin white bread and really was very expensive for the miserly portion. As for the cheese and tomato toastie, the toast was warm but the Grated cheese and tomato filling were cold! We fully expected a hot serving rather than hot and cold. Finally, the price for the quantity and quality of food served was quite high. Shame

Staff so friendly efficient and it is spotlessly clean . Found it expensive for basic food tbh £7 for a toastie a bit over the top and no option of some more hot water for my tea " we don't do that" oh well we won't be back.

Quaint little tea shop with very friendly staff and kept very clean. We shared a savoury tea and a cream tea giving us both savoury and sweet. The scones were large enough to share and came on pretty crockery too. Prices were fair and it was a shame that it was just off the beaten track as it should have been busier. Thanks so much Pennies from Heaven!

It's okay, but I think the prices and the quality of food do not match. The cakes were, in my opinion very over priced for very small portions. For example a very small cup cake sized victoria sponge was in excess of £2.50.

Seemed promising but not family friendly. If there are more than 2/3 of you and you would like to sit together apparently the tables can not be moved so you are asked to sit on separate tables, set apart!? We watched as a few families walked away on hearing this - wish we had done the same! The coffee tasted terrible and the food was bland and tasteless. We will not be returning.

My friend and I saw this cafe on a billboard in Stamford , so we thought we would give it a try Service no problem, food however substandard! I asked for a latte, however didn’t realise the coffee had came out of a cheap packet( made up for coffee machines you buy over the counter) As the coffee tasted disgusting, I asked for tea, but was happy to share my friends pot My poached eggs I ordered came out of a microwave , they were awful, brown toast on thin Tesco savers bread! Few heads up, if your going to offer latte, perhaps invest in a proper machine If your going to charge£4.50 for poached eggs on toast, then at least use a higher quality bread( maybe a bit of garnish to make it more palatable??) To add insult to injury , I was charged for the coffee I sent back??? Not a place I would visit again !

I visited this tea room recently, along with 4, others & a small baby I have been visiting this tea room since it first opened back in the 90’s periodically, and have always found it reasonably priced, warm & welcoming. I visited when I had young children & a buggy. On my 3 friends arriving they were told that their buggy had to be left outside due to the lack of room. I myself was a little horrified as the pavement outside and street, are very narrow and would be obstructing the path for pedestrians. Also, I know what my friend paid for hers. You may’ve left them outside in the 60’s/70’s but not in this day and age! But there was no alternative inside to accommodate their baby, no highchair was available. I was extremely embarrassed as I’d been wanting to take my Brazilian daughter in law for some time when she was over & had been telling her how lovely it was, as she loves ‘vintage.’ Although I do feel that the vintage ambience has been spoilt a little by the current owners. It is very freshly painted and meticulously clean however but very sparse and lacks vintage detail, bric- a- brac etc. which was always a lovely feature by the previous owners. Myself and my daughter in law had the afternoon tea which was very nice, freshly baked cakes & scones and pots of tea. The price was average for an afternoon tea My friends had chosen off the lunchtime menu which was jacket potatoes etc. but some of it wasn’t available, or they had run out of it. However, this reception completely spoilt it for me and I’m very sorry to say that I shall not be returning to this tearoom. Can I suggest that you either provide a small high chair, that doesn't take up much room or advertise that your tearoom isn’t baby/child friendly.

We dropped in here hoping to get a cup of tea as I am a firm believer in supporting small businesses instead of the larger chains. There wasn't a table vacant so we were going to leave when the manager/stroke owner? said there was a table and two elderly ladies were asked if they had finished and were practically pushed out. When we asked for cups of tea we were very rudely told that they didn't serve tea unless we had food as well. It was before 12 o,clock so we didn't consider it came under lunchtime rules so left. We could have been told nicely or there should be a sign saying this so everyone knows, we were very embarrassed by the whole interlude, not a way to run a business and I certainly would not visit again or recommend it.

She told me to stop complaining and told me to get out of her cafe and not come back again. She was waving her arms in the air - my friend was quite frightened. My retort was that we would not be back again thats for sure.Very rude to the customers. Be careful of this cafe and if you like the tea cold then thats okay.

We have used this tea many times . The service is quick even when the food is freshly cooked.Always greeted with a cheery "hello how are you?" and thanked at leaving. It is very popular with the locals but the staff always find a space for us.Exceptionally clean and remove crumbs etc. very quickly

It's nice to see a tea room that isn't a chain. This small tea room was nice to visit with friendly staff and was quite cheap. The soup of the day was tasty and the cheese scone accompanying it was delicious. The toasted sandwiches looked nice. My only issue was the use of margarine instead of butter without informing us when buying crumpets and the use of it in buttercream on a victoria sandwich cake, sadly it didn't taste very nice. It's a nice place to stop for a cup of tea and a sandwich in the side street away from the hustle and bustle of the main high street.

Great to find a place off the High Street not run by one of the big chains. Service and food was excellent - nice atmosphere.

Dropped in here for a bite to eat. The lady who runs the place is very sociable and amenable and is very helpful. The food is reasonably priced and the tearoom is immaculately clean. A tuna sandwich is just that! :-)

I visited Pennies from Heaven a few days ago with my partner, we have been a year before and when we went then the place was very quiet and we were the only people in.On entering the place was busy and we found a table and had a look at the menu and we both selected the toasted cheese and onion sandwich with pickle, and a pot of tea.The tea arrived and we let that brew, as the restaurant is themed on an oldie worldly look the décor was 1920's (which my partner likes) and the cups for the tea were porcelain. A few minutes later the toasted sandwich's turned up with a small amount of salad as a garnish, a nice touch. We ate the sandwiches which were very nice the pickle came through very strongly and after a couple of cups of tea the pot was refilled with water which was a nice touch as most places would not have refilled the pot.We then decided to have desert, I had a fruit scone with jam and cream and my partner had some cake. The scone turned up, although very nice it would have been better if a clotted type cream had been served and the jam and cream were in little pot. the scones were very nice and fresh and my partner enjoyed the cake.Service was very good, there were at one time four people working in the restaurant and coffee was also refilled and the other tables were served very quickly and efficiently a couple came in and a table was cleaned down and ready in a minute after the previous couple had left.Definitely would go again but I would like to see the cream changed on scones even if it means a small price increase.

Just visited tearoom. Coffee was weak. We had jam and cream scone which was awful. The scone was tasteless and the 'cream' was squirty cream from a can which melted down on the scone. Advice. Give it a miss.

We went here for a bit of breakfast Saturday morning. Quite small in a back street in Stamford, could be missed. That said went in for some breakfast. Nice little menu, friendly people everything cooked fresh and the place was very clean. A steady trickle of people, shows it is a regulars haunt. We were very pleased with the quality of food and service by the ladies who ran the establishment. If we go back to Stamford, we will definitely go again for breakfast. A very simple menu but enough for everyone to select a good breakfast option.

Lovely little tea shop tucked out the way. Had tea for two in clean china cup and saucer. The scones were fresh and tasty. The service was friendly and welcoming. Obviously a familiar place as people were greeted by name. Needs a little freshen up.

We followed the signs to this cafe and popped in for a late-ish breakfast. Our orders were taken promptly and the food was prepared quickly and tasted so good. Sadly we were too full to fit in any of the cakes. It is somewhere I would visit again. Visited on Saturday 15/03/14

This cafe is mediocre at best. We had a very below average lunch snack, tea was cold, as was hot sandwich (cheese inside hadn't even melted) average sliced bread, pre-pack cappuccino. They served mayonnaise in a Hellmans squeezy bottle plonked on table. It just gave the impression that it was uncared for and very unloved. Sorry to many other places in Stamford with a much higher service at the same prices.

The cafe is quite small but has plenty of character and is tucked away in a quiet street leading down from the main shopping. The service is really good, quick and polite and top ups to the individual pretty teapots used comes straight to table rather than heading back to the counter.I would suggest if you are in a group of four or more you pop in to the cafe in advance to check if it is possible to fit you all in and when. The food is very good value for money and very good in quality. If you just fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle to somewhere a bit different to the chains, drink and eat from pretty bone china cups and plates in a lovely atmosphere then this is the place to go, especially if you are on a tight budget. There is little space for lots of shopping bags so I suggest it is a place to go before you do the bulk of your purchasing.

Everything is just deep fried. Sausages straight into the fryer then burnt to a crisp on the grill, black pudding straight out of the freezer into the microwave then deep fryer. Money touched then straight back to food handling. Disgusting waste of £14. Straight in the bin

If you don't want a pub this probably the nicest place open in Grantham on a Sunday. We will be back. Clean, spacious, nice staff, yummy cake.

Very friendly helpful staff. Nice location just across from Belton House which we also visited. Good selection to choose from. All the members of our family were very pleased with the choices they made. Will certainly return when next in the area.
