I visit regularly and am always impressed with the food and drinks. Excellent coffee and good food. The owner and staff do an impressive job with the space and resources they have and the Green is a great community asset. I notice a previous reviewer criticises the prices and the alleged quality of the food. This is unfair, naive and unrealistic as we all know the cost of living and food prices have increased and this affects everyone. Clearly some people cannot accept change or realise the world of food retail is very challenging these days. Definitely worth a visit and enjoy the community atmosphere of the village.

Previously a lovely spot in the village to meet friends and enjoy a nice coffee or cake. Recently Sam has introduced a new pricing structure and alienated many of the regulars. It lost the buzz of being the place to be, now it's over priced and quality has really dropped. Last year I'd have rated it 10 of 10 but now a 2 is a generous rating. I certainly will not be returning, this is one regular local who has supported since the beginning, lost.

Pellows is no more. It is now ‘the Green’. More deli but still offering coffee and cake, breakfast and lunch. Delightful.

A friendly 'cool' place to eat after the ferry trip from the Wembury landing. Cyclists welcome even those with battery powered bikes. Fresh quality food.

Visited this lovely place twice and was so impressed with the service which was friendly and helpful, and the presentation of the food which was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and I really hope this goes from strength to strength - I would strongly recommend it.

We visited this restaurant just 2 weeks after it opened. The welcome was warm and friendly, noting seemed to be too much trouble for these guys. Great menu with a good choice of lunch options all cooked fresh to order. We will certainly be back next time we are in the area but in the meantime do give it a try.

Usually a parking space close by. Several tables inside and a couple outside where you can sit with your dog. Good range of cakes and other items as well as meals. Very friendly and helpful guy in the kitchen. Sadly a recent sign up by the door indicating the business is for sale. This building has had various incarnations over the decades. It's been going reasonably well recently. If the tea shop is not able to continue in some way it will be a huge loss to the village.

The service was brilliant and I really enjoyed their fudge, I could have stayed there all afternoon reading my book if it wasn't for the closing times! :) The tea was amazing (Which is brilliant because I'm very fussy with tea!)

A very nice toasted sandwich, but a 35 minute wait when there was only one more table of customers seemed a bit of a long wait.

This is a lovely little tea room with excellent home made cakes and an ample menu. We have visited on several occasions while cycling around Noss Mayo and the staff have always been really friendly. They also do set menus on designated evenings which we are hoping to try soon,v

We had a very welcome coffee and excellent pastries after a brisk walk round the village. The location is away from the harbour and other facilities but there is easy parking so ideal for stopping on the way out. Very friendly staff.

What a lovey little cafe, we have been coming to Noss Mayo for over 20 years and this was a treat we have two full breakfasts and a bran muffin. We can't fault any of it I asked for scrambled egg which was perfectly done, the sweet corn fritter was a light change to a normal hash brown. Mum said the bran muffin was lovely and warm. And our little girl just wanted warm milk which was served just at the right temperature (some place we have been will bring it out steaming hot, too hot for a 3 yr old) . A little gutted we are going how tomorrow and have only been once, next year we will be there on the first morning.

To those of you debating the apostrophe, Pellows' simply means that it belongs to more than one person called Pellow. 'Pellow's' is singular 'Pellows' ' is plural.

Sorry to join belatedly into the grammatical debate but I am sure that it's an apostrophe that should be before and not after the 'S' although probably most modern style books would now say that on a business sign it would be more appropriate to leave it out altogether. As to the cafe, it is modest, has an offbeat feel but when open offers a fair selection of snack food and usually a fair selection of cakes and baked items. Always friendly polite staff when we've been in.

Pellows' as they insist on calling it is a village tea shop cafe, run by earnest owners whose take on the venue is different from the well loved and eccentric predecessors. The present operation is functional and sufficient, a safe bet but nothing great.

We stopped by one sleepy afternoon for a snack, toasted cheese sandwiches and were treated with courtesy and attention. The sandwich arrived hot with plenty of filling and an unexpected salad on the side (not your usual lettuce and tomato). Over and above what we thought we would receive. The coffee was delicious and we will definitely visit again when we are next in the area.

Came out on Sunday expecting from the Facebook page that the Sunday opening hours would give us ample time for an early snack before Matins. Alas no sign of activity (so we had to go down to the Yacht Club, which was very hospitable. I have tried to post a couple of photos of Pellows but Tripadvisor or my phone may not be up to it. I will try again, both with the photo upload and the cafe. I understand that this place has been trading for about 18m so would expect the routine and the Facebook pages to be sorted by now. My rating is obviously based on the failed attempt and not an actual meal!

On the 2nd of March 2014, I went here with my Mum and my Dad for afternoon tea. We are very pleased with the service as the member of staff was friendly and welcoming; we were served quite quickly and our order was also good (which was a scone, coffee & walnut cake, toasted teacake, two lattes and an Americano). As well as that, it is a small place located in a quaint town, so the surrounding area was nice too. Overall, I enjoyed the trip there and thought it was a nice place to go on a Sunday afternoon. We will be visiting again!

We have been back again since the name changed to pellows as we werent too impressed when the new owners first took over. We thought given time to settle down it would improve. ...What a shame a chefs hat etc just doesnt cut it for us we judge someones capability by the goods delivered to the table. And I must agree this gentleman could do with some basic baking tips as previously this place was so popular and the food allong with the price was just great. It was so nice to have somewhere to visit that was just a bit different offering quality and good service the previous owners made it look so easy. Ive based my review on Quality, price, feel and atmosphere there are far more better places to visit and eat locally without having to travel to here.

All I can say is bring back the original owners and make it Tea on The Green again....the new place is too modern and lacks the charm of the original restaurant and it also lacks the wonderful desserts made by the previous owner's wife who made the most wonderful cakes.....we will NOT return. It is a shame that the previous owners had to retire....no longer charming, but cold and sterile.....ugh!

This was the Tea Room on the Green but has been metamorphosed into a different kind of place. Right to have changed the name because it's different in character and ethos. Straightforward tea shop and cafe by day and a sort of cafe/bistro/restaurant on some evenings. Not quite sure what the evenings are setting out to be. In a smallish village there is a fair bit of competition from the Dolphin pub just down the road, the Yacht club for those with an in, and the busy puns over in Noss. I'm not sure whether the River Yealm Hotel where I frequently ate as a child still operates. Pellows' is fresh venture. I'm not sure what to make of it. We came in on an afternoon for a reasonable tea and cake and then went for a walk ober at Stoke Beach. When we came back to Newton Ferrers we looked through the windows out of curiosity. Looked a bit formal and therefor not that much like a bistro but we shall have to try it ourselves.

We came to Newton Ferrers to visit family during the Christmas holiday. The delightful and loved Tea on the Green cafe has gone and is replaced by a different business that is not just a tea chop but a age that also does some evening food. It is not at all the same as it's predecessor. The new name is Pellows. This Tripadvisor thread is no longer appropriate. The new business should have its own. People who don't know the area may also wonder why it is a Plymouth entry. It is not in or near the city.

Staff was rude when they got our order wrong and then correct it after a bit of telling them but the was going to refuse and service that day was not good. Was over charged with a coffee and cake we didnt have as an extra 7 pounds , Other times been good. Food nice.

Awesome. Don’t judge a book by its cover. I arrived late evening for work over a couple of days. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful from getting me a taxi late evening at the train station to helping me get to my work venue in the morning. I had arrived past restaurant hours but the staff were more than happy to prepare food if I had wanted. I was also given a local delicacy from a local. I’m normally a poor sleeper but slept so well. Whilst the rooms at first appearance look a little dated the bed is so so comfy. The room also spotlessly clean. The question is - what’s more important to you - a great nights sleep or a sterile environment with mod cons? Sadly the first morning I didn’t have chance to sample the breakfast- I didn’t have time to wait. They have a sign saying ‘We don’t serve fast food. We serve fresh food as fast as we can”. Suffice to say I ordered my breakfast for the following morning before I went to bed so it was ready for me when I needed it. Now for the highlight DINNER. I eat a lot and this is definitely one of the best meals I had in a long time. Not the usual processed pub food. The main(stuffed chicken with root veg and dauphinois potatoes was delicious. I never order dessert but felt I had to - the main was so good. The sticky toffee pudding did not disappoint. Overall a really great stay. Thanks so much

I booked 2 nights for friends online, i had some simple questions about parking and accessibility but couldn't get hold of anyone to answer my questions so i cancelled. I cancelled nearly 1 month before the cut off for a full 100% refund ( clearly stated in their contract when booking) . I then spent nearly 2 months calling, emailing, leaving voicemails to get my money back - they ignored every one. In the end I had to claim the money back via my bank. If my bank hadnt stepped in and help, this establishment would have stolen over £400 from me. I am writing to hopefully sway others and stop them doing the same to others
