Awful….. nothing else to say really Greasy, tasteless, no flavour to the salt and chilli ribs and salt and chilli prawns Also food was missing from the order

Don't be discouraged by the slightly tired exterior and decor, this restaurant is a hidden gem with some of the best prawn toast I have ever had. Excellent quality food served by a friendly lady made our evening perfect.

Black bean was bone dry, barely any sauce at all. Tofu dish contained only 3 small pieces of tofu and then tonnes of bean sprouts. Not great

We've been going to this restaurant for over 30years. This is authentic food at its best. Lovely owners, great food, reasonably priced, love it.

This is the worst Chinese meal we have ever had by some distance and we all chose to throw our barely warm food away after only a mouthful or two. The Lady who served us was pleasant enough, but the premises was very run down and had a horrible smell inside. I wasn’t going to judge the food on how the restaurant looked, but sadly my optimism was very short lived. I did phone them and reported my dissatisfaction to them and they said if we bought the food back we could have had a refund . But we couldn’t get it in the bin quick enough which shut the door on that offer. A real shame as this was supposed to be our holiday treat. We wouldn’t go back ever again, even if it was all free.

Food is horrible. The lady there was really nice and kind however the food was quite unpleasant. Very cheap but I would avoid!

Don’t listen to any of the reviews on here, me and my family are on holiday and tried this Chinese, the front of house lady was so kind, and the food was delicious! Chicken Choi Mein and the crispy half duck was my favourite! My mum has the chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce and she loved them Would definitely recommend !!

Wonderful restaurant. The very welcoming host has been here for 35 years! Dine in or take-out, food is delicious and service excellent.

Would’ve been edible however just look at the sweet and sour sauce!! It jiggles like jelly and tastes horrific! The sweet and sour chicken’s sauce completely jellyfied 🤢!!. The chips were ok at best but they definitely don’t look appealing.. 100% the worst Chinese I’ve had. The only thing that was completely edible was the chicken fried rice + bbq ribs, they were nice actually. Avoid the sweet and sour sauce + chicken curry. Would not recommend.

Absolutely rank. Threw most of it in the bin, seemed as if it was all days old and was barely luke warm. Hoping I don’t get sick from the few mouthfuls. How this place even has 1 review above 1 star is beyond me

Worst Chinese in the world. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Wouldn’t even feed my dog this. All of my 4 children were throwing up, bellyaches and bed bound the next day. Everything is cooked in grease. Hair found in the Chicken Fried Rice. Nothing else open, I would have preferred to starve then feed me and my kids this. Prawn toast was raw and watery. Chicken balls were all battered and no chicken. THE WORST CHINESE TO EXIST.

Service was friendly but food was far from appetising. Out of our meal for four only one dish was vaguely tasty. It was hard to actually distinguish the chilli beef, it was dry beyond belief had definitely been reheated maybe more than once. Mushroom curry had a very odd taste. Would we recommend this establishment, I'm afraid its a no. As said when purchasing a house "Buyer Beware" the same should be said of this take away. Look elsewhere if you find yourself desiring a Chinese although it's slim pickings in Fordingbridge.

Had a takeaway for 4 people from here on a Saturday, only waited 40 minutes so not bad for a busy night. The restaurant looked like it had not seen a customer in years, very drab and dreary with a cluttered bar and mandatory fish tank. Food itself was a mix, no free prawn crackers with £60+ meal so that was disappointing. Sweet and sour sauce was like congealed vinegar jelly, no flavour. Curry sauce thick and over powering of spice. Chilli beef was dreadful, dried out bits of batter missing the usual sweet fiery sauce, avoid this dish! Chicken balls great but the sauce was terrible. Lemon chicken and kung po chicken nice. Chow mein and speical fried rice was saturated in oil, there was oil left over in the dishes after serving! Spring rolls and prawn toast were great, crispy and authentic. Spare ribs tasted great too lots of flavour. With so many of our favourite dishes being dreadful from here I can’t say I would order again, couldn’t get through to the usual Chinese but will go else where next time, far too dry or greasy.

Ordered £50 worth of food, I was a little bit concerned when I collected it as the place looks run down and it just smells stale in there. Got back started eating the food and it just wasn’t edible st all. Absolutely disgusting, tasted like it had been cooked weeks ago and just reheated up. I called them and told them I was returning the food. They didn’t even question why and when I arrived to drop it back they just gave me a refund with no questions asked, so sounds like this has happened before! Avoid at all costs, I’m concerned at even the small amount I ate about getting food poisoning!

Had an excellent takeaway, the food was fantastic and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Even with a big order, the food was tasty, hot and all ready on time. The hostess was very talkative and kind. We look forward to ordering again

We are lucky if we can get a good family Chinese Restaurant in Fordingbridge here. The owner can at least solve your hungry problems if we are not quite demanding. Great, I will be back again. Sam Chow

Don't listen to the moaners on here with their one star reviews. This place is good ! I've been going here on and off for 20 years as I've past through the area and it's always nice. The lady is very kind and friendly and the food super tasty and filling. It is inexpensive as you can see from the menu photos I'm uploading ( fresh at June 2023) I had the special fried rice which was lovely and the chicken with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce which is really really tasty. Try for yourself and it won't break the bank, you can even have a quick drink in the bar opposite by the lovely River while you wait so what's not to love about that!

TLDR - we’ve never thrown so much food away, it was disgusting, avoid! The meat was chunky and had clearly been frozen, it broke up like a sandcastle. The chips were greasy and dripping of oil. Everything was just not nice. We were staying in the area and this was our last night treat, no we’re all hungry! Even the dog turned his nose up at the chicken!

Chips were all over cooked and burnt, curry sauce tasted grainy like it had just been defrosted and the rice was very oily

I love this place, and the customer service is always warm and welcoming. The food is lovely and consistent, and sticks to classic flavours rather than overly pungent or sweetened meals.

Only eaten from here once before (in the 5 years I've lived locally) and it's not something I'll ever do again. The food was so bad that it all went in the bin. Even my husband - who generally eats anything and everything - couldn't eat it. It all tasted the same (somehow?!) and honestly I was just shocked they have managed to be in business so long.

Had a takeaway from here while staying at sandy balls.. The food was dire.. the chow main was like a bowl of public hair..the sweet n sour sauce was like a jelly.. the chicken balls I don't know what they where..this place should be not be called a Chinese its an insult to the decent restaurants that are out there.. your be better of having beans on toast

I never leave reviews and I only do if I think the place I have been to is exceptional. However this place is beyond disgusting. Not the worse Chinese I’ve ever had, but the worst takeaway I’ve had by quite some distance. Absolutely disgraceful, avoid.

After visiting last September we all had lovely food and a great experience with the owners, so being in the area again we revisited and was greeted with great food and great people once again,we had a set menu and a few dishes for the whole table and all 7 of us enjoyed the food and would definitely reccomened visiting this restaurant

We had a takeaway meal from the Peking in Fordingbridge on Sunday 26th June 2022. The food was disgusting. It smelt like cigarette ash. I think it was possibly cooked in dirty/old oil! The curry sauce was too think and bland! The prawn toast looked burnt and the portion of chips was soggy and very small! I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs!!

Lovely food and exceptional service. Staff were so polite and generally interested in making conversation whilst we waited. Would highly recommend this Chinese takeaway.

Had a take away, as ever about once every six weeks. Great sesame toast, Mongolian lamb, chicken with cashews and Singapore noodles. Chilli beef not quite as good as appeared a bit too shredded.

We had a take away recently and it really was a waste of money. We should have gone with our gut feeling as soon as we walked in. The outside looked shabby, and the inside looked out dated and dirty. There was a fish tank in the reception area that had a few small fish inside. The poor things had literally nothing inside the tank, no artificial plants or rocks - it just looked sad. The food was not great, chicken balls were dry and overcooked, the same goes for the ribs and the chips had far too much salt on. The woman who took our order was very chatty and pleasant but we couldn't help wondering what state the kitchen was in going by our first impressions. Would definitely not recommend.

We had a take away from here while staying at Sandy balls. We wanted an Indian but the local Indian only had 1 for hygiene. This place only has a 3. I’m guessing as these are the only options in this area, there’s no pressure to keep the standards up. I had chow mien but the noodles were thin not the usual fat ones. The chicken they used for the satay was not chicken breast so some parts a little chewy. The satay sauce was nice though. My FIL had the prawn curry and spent the next day in bed with stomach ache. The chips were like triple cooked in old oil and very salty. Overall I wouldn’t eat there again but if I had to choose between a 3 star hygiene and a 1 star hygiene then I would go for this.

I was staying at Sandy Balls holiday camp and decided with my family toget a Chinese meal from the Peking restuarant. It was a takeaway meal. I decided to have a prawn curry. The boiled rice was just a complete lump of mush. I ate the curry and although i cleared my plate I didn’t enjoy my meal. Went to bed that night and woke at 4am with very bad stomach cramps and over the next 24 hours experienced stomach cramp nausea and diarohea. Came close to phoning for an ambulance, now i know what food poisoning is like. Please Please dont use this Chinese resuarant

First time we have used this takeaway. Food absolutely terrible. Had beef curry. Absolutely vile. Both didn’t eat much. Cold by the time we drove home. 6 minutes. Never again

Late night at work and needed comfort food. Prawn toast, mini spring rolls, Mongolian lamb, bean sprouts and pork chow mien all great. Friendly as ever. I could eat here every week.

Would definitely recommend. The food was delicious and really good value. The lady serving us was absolutely lovely - so friendly and helpful. Looking forward to going again!

Every single dish is a complete failure. Tasteless chowmein. Oily minging prawn crackers. Sweat and sour, curry, hoisin sources all runny and flavourless. Crispy aromatic duck that comes like half a whole duck, not crispy, no extra flavours, poor texture. Genuinely shocked these guys are still trading, we were their first order on a Wednesday around lunch, plenty of time to do a nice job. Avoid! Drive to Ringwood and go to the Chinatown take away.

The worst Chinese ever, I wouldn't even give it one star, but you can't give less, the whole lot went in the bin, should have gone back for a refund, but we were on holiday, and it was to far to go back, the curry had a very strange smell, and didn't taste like curry, the chips black and soggy, the crispy seaweed looked like it had been swept off the foor, every thing tasted and smelt off, one mouthfull was enough, and didn't want to spend the rest of our break in hospital.

Awfull food , the worst chowmein iv had in a long time, just a box of plain (cold) noodles may as well have boiled some plain noodels at home, the sweet and sour sauce, if thats what it was, would not even pour from the tub, like orange jelly, i will be back for a full refund!

Staying local and thought we would give peking a restaurant a try for take away. What a bad decision. Salt and pepper chips might aswell of been normal (no peppers or onion) same as salt and pepper chicken although it looked liked frozen chicken put in a deep fat fryer hard and couldn’t even chew. Curry sauce like gloup and tasteless aswell as the chicken and sweet corn soup (looked like a children’s slime tub from b & m) spring rolls looked like they had been made and frozen 3 years ago then defrosted. Mixed veg noodles had a puddle of oil at the bottom of the tub and to top it off after complaining the lady was aggressive and said we had ate it after scraping it back into the tubs from our plates 👍 refunded £4.70 from £31 great. Moral of the story is cook your tea at home

This has been one of the worst Chinese’s we have ever had, the curry was gloppy and tasteless, the chow main was like recycled cardboard, the chicken balls were a load of batter and the rice was dry and tasteless, the lemon chicken was absolutely disgusting and hard. The quality of this Chinese was absolutely horrific!!!! Save yourselves and go somewhere else.

The food was incredibly poor and I suspect that's down to the low foot fall meaning food could be sat around for quite some time (and it certainly looked and tasted like it). On a completely separate note, my debit card was cloned and used the very next day for multiple transactions and the only place it's been out of my hand at any point over the past 3 years was in this restaurant the night before (due to their absolutely ridiculous way of taking payment). But as I said, I'm sure it's just coincidence.

We've had a set menu takeaway for two, thank you thank you , it was absolutely delicious. We will see you again soon. Please support our local businesses.

This was not a nice meal at all we got a takeaway whilst on holiday . One dish was completely unedable was like cardboard. Sauces were horrible didn’t taste anything like the sauces we have had from other Chinese takeaways . The only thing that was nice was the chowMein.

Amazing food, lovely owners. Adhered to all guidelines for covid 19. Down here on holiday so unfortunately may not return. Definitely deserve 5 stars.

We have often popped in just as the two of us and with friends for a meal. The food has always been perfect along with the service. We are always made to feel welcome. The décor is very out dated, but we are there for the food, service and to socialise, not for the decor. Cant wait for it to re open again! Shame they don't do home delivery. Teresa & Len xx

Dined here once with my boyfriend, and we had a lovely night. As the only customers, we enjoyed great service and really great chats with the lady who served us! She was so nice and certainly made the experience much better. I wish her all the best! The food was incredible, especially the fish. Although the interiors were a bit dirty, we had a good date and are planning to come back.

Lovely lady served us on NYE. We came all the way from Oxford for the evening and she really made our meal (along with the delightful food which we have told everyone about since!!!). Would come back again!

Lovely bbq ribs. The rice is fantastic . All the meals were perfect, especially the black bean chicken.

This is the worst Chinese take away we have ever had, grease and more grease. The rice was like glue and the chips were inedible, tasting of what i assume was old oil. The curry sauce had the most peculiar taste totally indescribable. Could say more but you get the picture. One star given only because of the politeness of the lady serving.

We have lived in a Fordingbridge for 5 years and used this restaurants a handful of times, every visit we have commented on how good the food is so we were compelled to write a review. To begin I think people are put off by the dated decor but don’t be. The owner was telling me they had lived in Fordingbridge for 30 years, with all this experience surely the food must be good? Absolutely! To start we had soup: fresh, spicy and delicious. My husband had a curry which he described as meaty and full of flavour and I had prawns with corn - tasty and the corn was clearly fresh. The star of the show, however, was the salt and pepper ribs which fell off the bone. I would order these every time I visit! The lady owner was attentive and made myself and my young son feel very welcome when we collected. An absolutely gem!

We normally don’t go here because of the bad press this place gets so we decided just to give it one go and this will be our last! Sweet and sour sauce just tasted of vinegar, the curry sauce was gloopy and was tasteless, the rice seemed like it was microwaved and the one star goes to the chow mien which was edible as that looked the only one item that was used with fresh ingredients. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere, it really is poor and can’t understand why some people still use them.

Brilliant beef curry lovely owner heather was very welcoming and treated you as a individual by having a chat with you can’t recommend it enough will be going there again

We tried around ten dishes between eight. Hits were Singapore fried noodles, chicken and cashew nuts, Sichuan prawns and crispy prawns. Quite good were veg spring rolls, and tofu Not great was beef with tinned pineapple People’s ratings ranged from three to five stars.

The meal was fantastic! Would reccomend veggie spring rolls as they are so delish! If you're in Fordingbridge then please visit! I'm vegetarian and the options were varied and delicious! xx

Ok food but a little greasy. Chips were undercooked

This is the most vile chinese smell and tast is a 0 if you feel constipated then this will clear you out. DO NOT GO.

The meal we had was full of flavour. Ribs melt in your mouth and full off the bone. Beef is very tender. Everything seasoned well. The restaurant needs a good make over. Capet is warn. Needs a decent hoover as well. All mirrors are smeary, including the fish tank. The toilets had a lovely cardboard box as a mat on the floor. Just needs some major TLC. We were the only table in as well.

We ate in here prior to going to a concert in he town. The service was wonderful, the lady could not do enough to please. Regarding the food; it was like I remember Chinese food should be. Absolutely full of flavour, and perfectly cooked. We had a set meal and polished off the lot!!I have to concur with the other great revue.DO GO AND DON'T BE PUT OFF BY THE OTHER WEIRD REVUES.

My family and I have just returned from a holiday in Fordingbridge. We visited the Peking Restaurant twice for takeaway food. I thought I would come on here to give the place a review and am honestly shocked at all these reviews! The food was delicious - my sister even commented that it was one of the nicest Chinese meals she'd ever had!

My girlfriend and I were blown away by the great service. We ordered set menu C and the chicken satay was absolutely delicious. Crispy duck was perfect. The sizzling beef was tender and tasty. In fact everything that we ate was perfectly cooked. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

Terrible Chinese, Extremely greasy food making it very sickly. Only good thing about it was the portion size, however good the portion size was, having a bowl of grease is uneatable... Would not Recommend.

Well we went in and the lady was pleasant enough . The other recommended takeaway was shut on Mondays so we thought they whilst there in downton we would try this one . We ordered . Then the phone rang and the lady was on it justifying her food saying maybe you ordered too much that’s why you couldn’t finish it .... this call went on for ages , another couple waiting looking more and more despondent . Meanwhile my partner showed me some quite dreadful reviews. I told her we wouldn’t be staying and she gave me a full refund .

Myself and my partner went there as other Chinese in Fordingbridge closed. We ordered and then the phone rang, answered by the lady it was obviously a very disgruntled customer on the other end. The lady was hanging on the phone and it was very off putting hearing all this. I then thought to look at trip advisor and immediately the reviews turned my stomach, I showed my partner and he thought the same “sod this” so when we showed the lady (who had then finished with the angry customer down the phone) she immediately told us we could have are money back. So I can’t comment on the food, but the advertisement itself and reviews put us off straight away

We've just returned from a week away, staying in Rockbourne and one evening fancied a Chinese takeaway. The lady serving behind the counter was absolutely lovely, I honestly do not have a bad word to say about her. She offered my children lollipops whilst we waited, and a glass of water to my hysterical 2 year old who decided she needed a drink right now!

Me and my family we’re on holiday in Fordingbridge and fancied a Chinese take away, we went to this restaurant and ordered our food, when we got back to our holiday camp we opened it and began to eat, I have never ever in my life eaten such bad food!! The chips were brown inside where they’d been fried numerous amounts of times and don’t get we started on the meat, it looked, smelt and tasted off. £30 of Chinese thrown away after 3 mouth fulls. I don’t ever go on here but I thought I would share my experience as it really was that bad!! Thanks

8 of us have been staying away in Stuckton and decided to get a takeaway from here as a mid week treat. Honestly the worst Chinese we have ever had. It looked horrendous just to look at let alone eat. He sweet and sour sauce especially was thick and gloopy and tasted like vinegar. All went cold very quickly and left us feeling yuck and disappointed.

We really enjoyed our take away. The hostess lady was very polite and very friendly. Char Sui omelette was lovely. Prawn toast was in bite size pieces and was cooked perfectly. Beef in black bean sauce was beautiful. Prawn balls were fantastic. Special fried rice & special chow mien lived up to the name special they were both very very nice. chips were chunky and cooked to perfection. Really couldn’t argue about the price and very genorous portion sizes .... we aren’t from the area but should I come back to this area again I think I’ll definitely treat myself to a Chinese from here.... very pleased with our experience

Everything had a funny taste, the sweet and sour sauce was very thick and glupey and a funny colour. The plain noodles were very dry, the chips were thin American fries ?. Wouldn't go there again.

We had a takeaway from there last night the food was ok and the portions were big and good value for money. The owner was very chatty and polite and I would eat there again.

Have eaten in and had take-away several times. Decor is tired and dated but the owner and her husband (who is the chef) are lovely people and the food has always been very tasty and good value. The king prawns are the best!

The owner very helpful, as ever. Been going there for 22 years and never disappointed. Sometimes we go for the fixed menu but they are always happy to substitute dishes. Their shredded chilli beef is to die for.

An unfortunate experience, nothing special about the special fried rice, more salt than a salt pot, beef with ginger and spring onion was like horse meat in thick gravely and the sweat and sour chicken balls, well couldn't find the chicken and the sauce was...

Nos decidimos por una estancia en Sandyballs para llevar, como era martes el otro chino estaba cerrado. Pedimos un menú fijo con pato crujiente, que era bueno, que estaba en un algas taza de poliestireno. Dulce y amarga que contenía pollo pelotas de una cantidad muy pequeña de pollo y el bateador era increíblemente gruesas. La salsa era muy gloopy. Las verduras era agradable y la carne en salsa de frijol negro otro gloopy no estaba mal. Por más de 30 libras no muy impresionado y no apresurar a comer otra.

Utilice siempre el peking para nuestra comida para llevar. Buena comida, personal agradable precios amd feria. Sigan con el buen trabajo!

I love the Peking but in recent years I have had some disappointing meals in there.Recently I have moved closer in town and have had 3/4 excellent take away meals!I believe they're making genuine efforts to improve and will be going again without a doubt!Friendly staff, good food and a consistent high street presence over many years! :-)
