New City in New Forest

Well where do I start. There is a reason why we never eat from this take away and tonight has just reinforced this. We would normally order from the 'other' take away in the area but due to it being very busy we thought we would give new city another try. Wrong move.. The food was hideously dry and stone cold The portion sizes have also shrunk considerably and if I was 10 years old it would have sufficed. Their only saving grace is that they gave me a full refund without any issues. I would highly recommend NOT to order from here.....Ever....

Absolutely awful food. Stone cold, no taste, disgusting. Portion sizes are small and food totally inedible. Avoid at all costs!!

Apparently it only has a 1 star food hygiene rating. It doesn't taste like it, had some dodgy thickness beef strips a couple of times, and some under cooked rice once. Overall good

To be honest I went in to order, became concerned at low reviews and asked to see the kitchen. Food appeared to have been just warmed up. I asked for a special chow mein-the meat was diced rubbish , no pork but diced ham, the prawn looks evil and I refused. The crispy seaweed tasted of plastic storage. Extremely poor English Cannot recommend and explained this to staff on site. Was given a refund Informed them they also had No hygiene ratings I cannot believe this place is still operational and question whether it’s a front for ‘other’ business ?

They close at Ten but went at 21 . 50 but the door was locked but the greedy little fat guy was sitting there eating food,told me he was closed, disgusting

Dreadful meal. Never again. Meal was cold. Ordered 2 pancake rolls which had not been fried, they were soggy, cold and,raw. Sweet and sour chicken - which was obviously re cooked as they were rock hard, ever worse they were pork which was solid rocks. Special chow mein has now been reduced by half and contained only onions! Chicken with cashews - minus cashews! This meal was a treat for my grandchildren and the whole lot went in the bin - inedible.

Terrible food Chop Suey - if Poundland did microwave meals, but after someone had removed all of the tasty bits, watery sauce and no vegetables. Salt & Pepper ribs - ribs received were not salt & pepper, poor quality ribs, tiny and hardly any meat Chips - overcooked or recooked Wouldn’t recommend, please try another takeaway. Considering they are opposite another chinese restaurant they really need to up their game.

Do not order from this place. We got takeaway last night and I've been vomiting all night from the food eaten here. It also has a 1 hygiene rating which I wish we checked before ordering. Not only did I get food poisoning, the food was bland and horrible. The chowmein tasted like it had been smoked. Very odd. We will not be ordering from here ever again. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢🤮🤢🤢

I wanted to try the New City as I have never been there before, and always use Chinatown opposite. I was disappointed with the food. The pancake rolls were greasy, the pork dish was packed out with vegetables, as was the hot and sour soup. On a positive note the crackers and the rice were good. I will carry on with Chinatown as the food is much better quality.

Do not order food from here unless you like your chinese bland, tasteless and watery. Half of ours ended up in the bin. Four of us all had different dishes yet all agreed that this was the worst chinese meal we had ever had. You have been warned.

First time of trying this takeaway and definitely the last!!! The beef was so chewy it was not edible the fried chicken was really dry and the house special fried rice WELL !! The rice was wet it had a really sweet orangey yellow sauce over it with a few pieces of overcooked dry meat and the prawn toast tasted bad cannot express how disappointed we were with this takeaway

Absolutely awful. The chicken was chewy and didn’t taste like chicken at all, food was cold and just didn’t look right in general. Would NOT recommend it to anyone.p.s didn’t want to give it any stars but didn’t give me the option :(

Ordered a takeaway at 6pm, got a call from driver at 7.30 saying they had broken down and someone was coming to take the order to us, it never arrived. Phoned the restaurant they said it was being re cooked, waited some more, phoned again and they said it went to wrong address. We cancelled order after 2 hours, not offered any compensation or anything. 9pm and now getting a kebab.

Says they close at 11 yet they stop taking orders at 10:20? They should update their times

Don't do it, worst chinese I have ever had. The chicken was like rubber. No flavour with the sauces. Very poor and felt sick after eating it. Don't waste your money.

First Chinese in a while the Chinese style duck was full of fat and hardly any duck very disappointed but liked chicken noodles

So Greasy! My delivery arrived in time with a very polite driver. However the chow mien was burnt and smelt of smoke, the curry sauce was all lumpy and congealed. I bit into a spring roll and loads of oil spurted out. I usually go to China Town across the road from this store, but I ordered because New City delivered. From now on I’ll be ordering from China Town only, even if I have to collect! Very Disappointing. Ordered on - Monday 17th May at about 8pm.

Really disappointing experience from somewhere well recommended. Bug in the food, late delivery, not hot. Call in an order at 6:10 last night, were told it would be 90 mins, lady was very friendly on the phone. Took a little over 2 hours to be delivered (about 8:15). Food wasn't that hot, presumably as it had been out for delivery for a while, but wouldn't call it cold. Other half found a small fly/bug in her duck (photo was taken on the side, but bug was seen in the tub), which she wasn't entirely sure was duck in plum sauce. My food was pretty good, although also could have been hotter. Just a disappointing experience overall, perhaps we caught them on a bad night!

The best curry’s out there. Prawn crackers are excellent. Egg fried rice is brilliant. Simply amazing

Ordered a few times as fishing local. Past 4 occasions ordered different dishes. Special chop soey which came as just chicken and bamboo shoots. No vegetables sauce had no flavour. Chicken balls, which pastry was soggy. Chow mein dishes burnt dry no flavour. 1 star was for the Special curry and rice which was headable. Definitely learned not too order from there again

Very poor. Delivery took too long 1hour and 45mins. Chicken curry was missing, phone to get refund and told no problems will do that straight away... Still no sign of my money. Will NOT be using them again.

We previous used this Chinese prior to Covid and for the first time in a while ordered for collection again tonight. I don't know what has changed but a previous 4/5 star takeaway now gets 1 star. The food was so bland. Over cooked dry ribs, tasteless main dishes and pancake rolls dripping with oil. The only good thing from a £30+ order were the 8 sweet & sour prawn balls. Very disappointing.

Had a takeaway last night, 9th July, and was very disappointed. The rice was good, egg fried and fried mushroom, but the lemon chicken, sweet and sour chicken and pork were awful. The meat was tasteless and very chewy in all 3 dishes. Will be very wary of returning.

Oh my gosh this is the most amazing Chinese takeout I've had since I left London 6 years ago. Their ribs and chicken satay are delicious, the portion sizes were just right for people watching a diet and good pricing too. Very happy with ease of service. Delivery was quick and the driver very polite and friendly. Will definitely be using them in future 😁😁

To food is ok, wouldn't say the best in the area the chow mein I ordered was overcooked and the chicken balls were like grease balls 😬

Having moved here from New York 3 years ago now, I am always on the lookout for a good Chinese Takeaway. Being Chinese myself, nothing will ever beat my mom's home cooking but New City is a good substitute. They are family run and often you will see a little girl sitting at a table doing her homework. The food is well flavored and not overly saucy. I've had takeaway there a few times and have not been disappointed unlike from the place across the street. Their "hot" food actually does have a delightful kick to it. I end up adding hot sauce but only because I could drink from the hot sauce bottle and still say it's not hot enough. Great food and well balanced in terms of seasoning and flavor. My go to place right in the heart of Ringwood!

Have used for several years - always collect food rather than have delivered. Never a problem regarding quality or quantity of food. Good value. Firmly recommend.

Food arrived cold and wet, items missing, pork when i am vegetarian.. phoned to rectify was met with a DONT care attitude and no money back.. but would send someone to inspect my food !!! Ok but it’s a pandemic ! Really not impressed ruined evening no dinner .. BEWARE !!!

Would never order here again! So expensive for what it actually is. We ordered chicken chow mien but it was burnt and really salty, salt and pepper prawns should normally be a tad spicy but nothing much but these were seriously hot it was all I could taste for ages, chips were soggy and cold. Really disappointed in the food.

2nd time ordering from new city. They forgot an item. I thought everything was there but unfortunately didn't notice this item missing. When realising the item was not in the bag I called new city but they were unwilling to send the item due to the fact I looked in the bag before taking it.

Have been going to this Chinese for 10 years,Food is always Still Piping hot even by the time we get it home (Live 20 mins away)As an awarded Chef of 20+ years, I find it very hard to fault the food at New City, always hot, alway tasty & you can differentiate dishes, as they don’t all taste the same like many other Takeouts (MSG).Ingredients & dishes have a Nice freshness about them and aren’t too greasy.We’ve never had any food quality issues, (bar the odd order mix up) in all time we’ve been coming here...Will always recommend and have already to friends & family

Placed a telephone order at 18:15pm got told that it was going to be within 1 hour and a quarter which in a Saturday night you expect a small wait but to be waiting still at 20:00pm is a joke then after being told at 19:30pm it’s nearly with us and the delivery driver rang and he was not even in the right area so we cancelled it absolute joke had children waiting for food as well disgusting disgusting not even an apology will never ever use again china town opposite much better service.😡😡😡

Used to live in Ringwood and this was the go to place for Chinese food! Found myself passing and thought I would treat myself... What a mistake! I had the sweet and sour vegetables and a portion of chips. Wow this place has gone down hill! The chips were cheap crinkle cut chips from the supermarket and the s&s sauce was watery and lacked any sort of flavour. One of many reasons that this town is going in the wrong direction. What a dissapointment. Go elsewhere!

Less than 1 star. Pork fillet parts of food were raw, seaweed tastes not right, prawn toast dry, prawns in oyster sauce dry, chicken noodles greasy. Lady refunded for pork only. She stated she never gets complaints which I can hardly believe. very poor quality queried whether they reheat food to order. Disgusting will not recommend don't waste your money!

The prawn toast could be bigger and sometime but rarely seem the chicken satay chicken is undercooked but over all really good Chinese, probably the best Chinese I've personally been too.

Always great service and a chat while you wait for your order. We always use New City even though it's out of our way.

You know when you've had a memorable takeaway, when you feel the need shout about it on Trip Advisor. I can say this is the first time i have.I'm a big fan of takeaway, especially Keskin's kebab's, but my wife fancied a change.The best £17 i've spent on takeaway in years.The sweet & sour ribs were succulent, the pancake rolls were delicious, and the rice dish was just fantastic.Two plates cleared.

Usually use the clean smart busy chinese restaraunt right opposite but used New city as chow mein slightly tastier BUT THATS ALL, after a hectic day really looking forward to our meal, ribs chow mein ginger chicken curry and chipsGREASY prawn crackers, RECONSTITUTED cubes of chicken, ribs had all the inedible bits still attached and the chips were COLD and SHRIVELLED and definitely just heated from the night before as no way were these fresh chips at allThe establishment is so tatty and run down I dread to think what the kitchens are like, the place needs a total refurbishmentNever again will we use, instead we will continue to use China town opposite, clean tidy modern busy and fresh establishment apparently they do not use all the additivesNEW CITY spend some money on a refurbAVOID instead use opposite CHINA TOWN establishment!!!

Plenty of meat in meat dishes. Given a delivery time of 30 - 45 minutes and it arrived in 30. Nice and hot.

La comida es normal en el mejor. Lo mismo podría haber sido debido al hecho de que tomó dos horas para la entrega. No me impresionó, ya que estaba a sólo 3 km de distancia (e incluso entonces me cobraron un extra de £1. 40 para la entrega). La comida no es nada especial y que he probado, mucho mejor.

Food was ok but nothing special. I have had better but then again I have had a lot worse. Reason for the 1 star review is the 2 hours it took for it to be delivered less than 3 miles. Delivery driver said they gave him the wrong address, having done deliveries for a Chinese before I reckon they took on more deliveries than they had drivers to deliver.

Nice Chinese with friendly staff. Shop could do with a makeover though.
