Peking Chef in Mid Sussex

Delicious food, no waiting to collect, friendly service, complimentary prawn crackers and situated in a quaint village. Excellent value for money too. Cannot fault, highly recommend!

Really good food- good portion sizes and reasonably priced. We were impressed. The lady on the phone was really helpful too.

I came here to grab a quick dinner after a long walk in the countryside. I ordered the king prawn fried rice and Szechuan chicken. The rice was nicely cooked and the eggs had a soft, fluffy texture. The prawns were cooked perfectly. But the dish could have been seasoned a bit more as it was slightly bland. The chicken was tender and the Szechuan sauce had a nice kick to it. Portions are relatively generous and the prices are reasonable. It is sad to hear that they are closing down. All the best in the future!

Our takeaway this evening was excellent - freshly-cooked, hot and full of flavour. I've had a few awful meals in Chinese restaurants lately - glutenous dishes that have clearly been kept warm for hours. From the Peking Chef we recommend the vegetable chow mein, and a lovely dish of chicken with black bean sauce and green papers - lots of crunchy veg, lots of black beans. Service was prompt and friendly. Excellent. Thank you.

Good generally but used to be better don’t know if it’s changed hands but not as good however sat and pepper ribs to die for

I've been using this takeaway for a number of years and usually at least twice or more a month. I've tried others , but keep going back to the Peking Chef. Well worth a try. Their Specials are well worth a try.

Food here is really good, always hot, always of a consistent standard. Never too long to wait. It is our little gem in the village.

A group of us ordered our takeaway from here all our selections were nicely cooked, the noodles especially went down well. The mushroom curry had a good flavour

Had a take away from here on Saturday evening out of desperation. I’ve had the food before and thought it was revolting but having read some good comments on here I thought it might have improved. Sadly not. I have never had food that is so loaded with salt that it actually burns and the effects can be felt for 24 hours afterwards. The taste of dirty grease and salt was overpowering. It’s like everything is cooked in sea water. This time the food actually brought on a migraine even though I drank pints and pints of water to combat the dehydration during the night. Everything also leaves an acrid aftertaste that really lasts! Even the sweeter dishes have this result. This really is the last time I’ll eat food from this place. I simply can’t understand why the food needs to be so utterly over seasoned.

We had a takeaway from here while on holiday having passed it on the man road. This seemed to be the only Chinese restaurant in the town but that didn't stop the food from being of a good quality and ready for us when we arrived to collect it.

Wonderful food as usual, and not long to wait. One of the best Chinese restaurants in our area. Thoroughly recommend it.

Been frequenting here since moving to the area 18 months ago and always had a nice takeaway but tonight was SUPERB! Service is great & the guys on the counter are always friendly. Nuff said!

Used once and was told 45 minutes, (fo collection). Not a review about food quality but on time to cook and collect. Tried to order twice since, first time told 1 hour and second time 1.5 hours. This is for a collection. Even very busy takeaways I have used in the past have never been this long to wait to pick up. Seem's to be the norm and whilst food was OK, no way would say it's worth waiting that long. Need to seriously up their game in terms of managing orders and cooking. Unfortunately have now given up and have found somewhere else.

Been here over the past few months and every time has been thoroughly enjoyable. The staff are really good and the menu is extensive.

We love our takeaways and was worried when we moved to the area that we wouldn't find a good takeaway. How wrong were we!! Fantastic food, lovely staff, very efficient. What more can I say? May be time you opened a sit down restaurant somewhere?!

The worst Chinese I have ever had oily and no flavour! And when I called to advise that it wasn't great I was told "that it was down to personal preference " very well said! Will not be going back to them again great shame!

This place is fab! Recommend the crispy duck pancakes, chicken noodle soup and prawn balls. The veggie dishes are good too. So glad to have a good take away in the village, we really value this place!

This is honestly the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had. We live in Haywards Heath but found this takeaway on TripAdvisor and thought it would be worth a try. We will never go anywhere else again, food was delicious, well priced and hot!

Used this for the first time at the weekend - the food was absolutely fabulous and great value. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a good Chinese takeaway.

We live in Ardingly and at least twice a month eat from here. Always see people in here from surrounding areas who travel here for their takeaway. Excellent food, generous portions and really good value.

No me puedo creer que sólo me acabo de repasar, como este ha sido mi favorito chino para siempre. Que puede ser un sesgo poco como es mi local, pero la verdad es que nunca he tenido una mejor China, y he probado un montón de lugares! La comida siempre es fresca y muy bien cocinados, los dueños son encantadores y están siempre dispuestos a satisfacer sus gustos y necesidades dietéticas. Sé que muchas personas que viajan millas para comprar desde aquí - sin duda vale la pena.

Elegimos el Peking chef después de leer las críticas de viaje. Aunque está 6,5 km de nosotros el viaje realmente vale la pena ahora hemos encontrado esta joya escondida en Ardingly. La comida era fabulosa no probado pegajoso y fresca. La comida para llevar en sí es limpio y sencillo y no hay ningún olor pesado aceite de freír o cuando entras. Otros han dicho lo bueno es que podemos corroborar.

Excellent takeaway,vast range of dishes ,actually don't know of another takeaway that does more! Excellent for vegetarians the chef has devised some vegetarian dishes similar to the meat dishes for instance deep fried shredded beef, in the veggie version carrots are used absolutely delicious! highly recommended.

We have been customers of this take away for 15 years. The food is always good quality and generous portion sizes. You are best to order by phone to pick up or, as we often do, order and pop into the Ardingly Arms for a quick drink while we wait. Highly recommended.

We've lived not far from here for nearly 5 years and have tried the various Chinese in and around haywards Heath and east grinstead and all only mediocre. then had our first visit here last night and finally found a decent Chinese. Good food with great portions. Excellent knowledge on allergies and the menu well marked out. Not the cheapest but well worth the extra few pennies. Lovely friendly service as well

This Chinese always has great service, high standards and perfect for a quick dinner! Everyone I know loves it and all have their favourite dish.

Situated in the tiny village of Ardingley near Haywards Heath. Go past here every night from the office...I go past and never stop..but the other night I did...Realised straight away it was best to pre-order on the phone...waited over half an hour while other people collected their orders.Got it home and I must say it was fantastic...definitely will be back again soon.

Have used this Chinese takeaway for the last 6 years at least. Great food, friendly service, excellent choice of veggie dishes, parking directly opposite, no reason to go anywhere else :O)
