Peggy's Diner in Mendip

This was a great find. A stones throw from the Clarks shopping village if you want to avoid the various food chains. We had broccoli and Stilton soup, which was home made and lovely. We had soup spoons as well, which was great as so often you need to make do with a dessert spoon! Staff were friendly and helpful. We will return.

I had a rocky road and chocolate and orange cake and they were delicious. My son had a milkshake and I think it was good too because he drank it all. Nice place.

Went to Peggy’s diner and ordered a belly buster breakfast and a normal size breakfast. It was terrible! Cheap ingredients. I asked for the bacon well done and it came out looking microwaved with no colour to it, asked for the fried eggs to be flipped and they were all rock hard yolks. The sausages were cheap and nasty. The bread was stale and it came with margarine and not butter. We both left over half of our food it was horrible! These 2 breakfasts with drinks cost £39. Awfully expensive for cheap food. Was not asked if everything was ok with our food even when we went to pay. I would never go back. Avoid at all costs!

Brilliant place to go for any type of food. A large variety of good food and great quality. They even deliver a hot meal to my elderly relative for just £10, that includes a main dinner AND a desert. Brilliant food and brilliant staff. Would highly recommend.

Probably the worst breakfast I’ve had in a long while, definitely wouldn’t recommend going there, disorganised, the only thing that was nice was my cup!

What a gem, it’s been awhile since we’ve last been so spoiled for choice. Fresh home made food and a vegetarian menu to die for. I’m not vegetarian but ordered the vegetarian to try. The chile con-carne was absolutely lovely. Chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The club sandwich was so filled with fresh goodies it was a challenge to pick up and eat without losing some of the filling. Freshly made smoothie, no supermarket version, was thick and yummy. Can’t wait to try more from their menu.

What should be a little gem of a cafe is let down by the appalling attitude of one member of staff who literally wouldn’t know customer service if it hit her in the face. She is a disgrace to the other members of staff who approach people courteously and professionally.

Found this cafe on a coach trip stop. I'm a Coeliac so always aware of gluten free options. Very clean and friendly staff. Had a very tasty salad sandwich with crisps and milk shake. I've tasted some abysmal gluten free bread but this was a pleasant surprise, soft and tasty. Thank you.

Felt cheated. Honestly it was really terrible, thought I would treat myself to a midweek roast even though it seemed over priced at 10.95 for small 12.95 for large. Before the food even arrived I was brought horseradish sauce in a jar that looked brown and nasty ... Knowing its supposed to be white, I checked the sell by date... June 2020! No shock or apology when we told them quietly and politely it was out of date. The waitress just looked annoyed that we pointed it out and we got wierd looks from the other staff. I should have left at that point ... Then the meal came, two small squares of tough beef on my small dinner, boiled not roasted chicken breast... Thin gravy with no flavour, broccoli was yellow and tasted of compost, nothing was seasoned, but the biggest insult was the tiny portions... One and a half potatoes on the small, only 3 on the large. If it was a kids meal I would have been disappointed but at the prices they charged it was awful.

I was not impressed by the staff,I was listening to staff members talking about customers who just finished his tea and sandwich,when that customer ask a question about something local and was told they didn’t which was ok ,but after the man left They started moaning about why he thought it was a good idea asking them! Plus it’s very over priced for what you get. I’m quite sure they probably moan about us,we found it very hard to chat to each other in case they said something to us.

Very disappointed the food tasted cheap would not recommend and definitely wouldn't go back the staff was swearing at a customer and made the atmosphere very unpleasant

A massive disappointment, the vibe was very clicky, we felt very uncomfortable, cheap sausages, expensive, although the kids meals were reasonably priced, they were small, terrible service, we definitely won't be back

Very welcoming and polite staff who are well trained on allergens- they offer a good selection of Gluten Free items and were very accommodating, offering to adapt dishes. The quality was good too and it was clean. We will definitely be back.

We had a delicious lunch at Peggy's Diner in October 2022. The restaurant is set back a little bit, further up the High Street than we had really walked before but we were drawn in by a sign on the pavement on the opposite side of the road. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and the food we had was excellent - hot and freshly prepared and really tasty. A good range of hot drinks and an extensive menu including daily specials which look delicious. We will definitely come here again next time we are in Street. Much better than the lacklustre Wetherspoons and other cafes in the vicinity.

Very expensive for what you get. I was shocked at the prices. Portion size very small. Will not be returning 😕

Called in on Monday 15th August for the standard breakfast. Premises are clean, bright and staff welcoming. Breakfast cost £7.95. Quality was good although quantity a bit on the small side. Perhaps they do a larger breakfast and I missed it on the menu. Perfectly good place for a quick meal.

Briefly popped in for some breakfast before viewing a house in the area. Decided to get a sausage bap and it was unfortunately tiny. The sausages were also of extremely poor quality, and tasted like I was eating flour. My wife opted for a more substantial breakfast, but was equally disappointed.

Lunch four four adults and a small child with allergies. The friendly staff could not have been better, with an excellent knowledge of their menu and allergies. The food was all very enjoyable and amazing milkshakes. Worth the walk along the high street!

I just had the most amazing breakfast in this fabulous Diner. It’s not pretentious in any way, just wonderful food and great service. Would highly recommend.

You are made to feel welcome from the minute you step into this wonderfully warm family run business to the minute you leave! The food is locally sourced where possible, fresh and prepared with care. Eating at Peggy’s has become at least a weekly event for myself and my friend because of the choices available. Whether you’re Vegan, Vegetarian, gluten free or are a meat eater all are catered for here! The menu is far from limited and they will do their very best to swap one ingredient out for another to fit your palette if requested. They also offer an array of hot and cold drinks. Don’t leave without trying one of the many freshly made cakes on offer. All are gluten free and taste sublime! This diner very reasonably priced and won’t break the bank. It is also beautifully clean which is apparent when using the toilet. They obviously take a lot of care and pride to make this a memorable dining experience. Well done to Peggy’s! 10/10

Very lovely staff, they are friendly and welcoming. I only order a milkshake. It is made with milk and ice cream. It’s amazing we’ll worth the visit

Perfect place for a lunch! Went here with my wife and the staff were so lovely, decorated brilliantly; food was amazing and very nice portions. Took 10-15mins after sitting down to have our food, brilliant service I had a curry and the portion was amazing for something that only cost £7.95! Wife had a egg ham and chips, sunny side up and yolk running like a waterfall was delicious. Proper lunch and friendly people, decorations tidy n all!

My family and I are visiting Street and have eaten here two days in a row. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Our two children love it. 💗 There's lots to choose from the menu and everything is made fresh. Our girls highly recommend the milkshakes and pancakes 🥞 🥛 We will definitely be back next time we visit Street 💯
