Nice place just stopped for a coffee and a pint during a cold winter walk. Staff were welcoming and pleasant.

Not the best. Food was not to the usual Toby carvery standard.

We had our wedding, here one year ago, and we are back today, wonderful as ever. The manager and his team are amazing. They actually set up the table for us

Our waitress Demi was very helpful and accommodating. It was quite busy but nothing was too much trouble. Food was very fresh and the potatoes nice and crispy. Great offer on the app too.

There is basically no staff working. I waited at my table for 20 mins but there doesn't seem to be anyone working

Been here a couple of times and would have rated it 3 stars. This time great service and food fantastic, possibly a new chef. I've paid a great deal more for a carvery that wasn't up to this standard. Hope they keep it up!

I've only been there a couple times, but each time the staff have been friendly and helpful, the food has been great, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Parking is a bit tight, bit not enough to make it a deal breaker.

Food met expectations and was priced accordingly, service attentive. Just the atmosphere/ environment feels like it is time to be upgraded. It’s quite dark, cold drafts at this time of year not welcome! Additionally a bit behind the times without ability to provide coffees with non-dairy milks.

Came in on New Year’s Day when the place was empty. Was told I’d have to sit in the bar because all the tables had been booked up for the hour. This was incorrect as I was able to book tables online straight through the hour. They still insisted I sit near the cold dark corner in the bar near the window where it was freezing cold. I then went to order carvery. The guy completely screwed up the meat and tried to give me beef, which I can’t eat due to religion, when I clearly stated three times I wanted lamb. He stood there hands on hips and asked very accusatorially well what meat do you want then. I am fine with repeating what I said but I do not appreciate someone talking to me that way about my food. He also didn’t give me a Yorkshire pudding and never asked if I wanted one. Terrible service. Go and learn from your lower earley staff how to treat people

I had such a fantastic lunch at Toby Carvery Caversham Bridge on December 30! The atmosphere was cozy and warm, and despite Christmas being over, the decorations still gave off such a joyful holiday spirit. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal, and even the kids loved it! The carvery itself was amazing, but what really made our visit special was the service. Our waiter, Dylan, was incredibly friendly and attentive. Since we’re from Korea and not very familiar with the menu, Dylan took the time to explain everything to us with a warm smile, making sure we felt comfortable. He even checked in on us regularly to ensure that everything was perfect. His kindness truly made our lunch more enjoyable! I highly recommend this Toby Carvery, and we'll definitely be back!

Very good Tobery. The carvery guy was the best we've ever seen, so friendly and cheerful. The food was excellent, but service was a little slow when it came to clearing plates and taking dessert orders.

Love a roast , but vegetables were only luke warm 🫤

Meat are fresh, we had turkey and beef. Unlike before, the beef is so tender compared to chewy/rubbery/dry consistency when I had it the last time. So in short, it's not consistent. Lots of selection of pudding. Good service too. Vegan options available. Toilet is clean but lots of toilet seat has been damaged during the festival.

Today I came here for my daughter’s 16th birthday and was served by a lovely gentleman called DYLAN. Didn’t book a table and was seated near enough straight away. Dylan came over to take our drink order, very polite and welcoming and paid attention to our comfort. Dylan wished my daughter happy birthday. It’s always a better experience with a lovely table server. Thanks DYLAN x

Dylan was my server he was so nice and new what I wanted, was very positive he kept checking in on us when we needed him like he could read are mind!!!!!

Was sat in the bar and served by a lovely girl called Angelica she was very sweet and fast.

Came here with my mum and son for a Sunday roast. We were served by Dylan, who was such a polite and helpful young man. He made sure my son had an activity pack whilst we were waiting for our food, although the food didn’t take long to come despite it being a busy Sunday evening. Thank you very much Dylan :)

When ordering a drink the staff were too busy laughing and joking amongst themselves to notice me waiting.When they finally noticed me I was served without a smile,zero eye contact and they only seemed happy when they were back talking amongst themselves I went back the next day and it was as if I was getting in the way Wetherspoons is MUCH better Never again

Nice lunch with the girls. Used the half price coupon that was sent via email. They really need to label the dishes on the carvery (been saying this in all my reviews, but no luck so far). Good parking (remember to input registration number inside).

Soma gave us the most perfect service ever thanks. She was so helpful and attentive not to mention fast. The food was good although the beef was quite stringy. The parsnips weren’t cooked. Parking was easy. A nice man asked if we wanted to move as were sitting near the busy queue, this was thoughtful. 2 Guinness zero were £8 which was nice. Thanks

We go often for the Sunday dinner as it has lamb only on sundays.

Staff were very friendly, very fast to greet us and take us over to our table. Server greeted us within 5 minutes of our arrival to offer us drinks, very good selection of drinks. The food was amazing. The beef was succulent and the gammon melted in my mouth. The beef dripped roast potatoes and roasted parsnips were incredibly tasty and the gravy was to die for.

This restaurant offers excellent value for your money. We enjoyed the carvery on Sunday, and although it was quite busy, the service was outstanding as always. There was a bit of a queue for the carvery, and they could benefit from having an additional chef to slice the meat, like other Toby Carvery locations we've visited. However, overall, the food was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable.

Our server becky was absolutely fantastic, catered to all our needs and requirements, friendly and polite will definitely be coming back. 100%

Whilst the actual place was very good, the staff excellent and the food brilliant in both quality and quantity the number of disabled parking places was disappointing with only two available and one of them did not have the required amount of space to enable a car door to be fully opened.

I have not been to a Toby Carvery for a few years, so yesterday's visit was special. Arriving for lunch after an hour's swim, parking was easy and we were greeted by pleasant and helpful staff. The food was well presented and tasty, although I myst say that the meat portions were smaller than I remember. Apart from that, our meal was enjoyable. I will be back.

Was rammed when we arrived (it was dinner time on a Sunday to be fair) but was seated and served pretty quickly.

Top notch food overall, you don’t go to Toby Carvery and then complain that your food wasn’t the quality of a five star restaurant. Toby Carvery produces no nonsense decent quality carveries with an excellent choice of vegetables. I went for the early sitting at midday and was greeted warmly by the staff. Caversham is definitely my favourite location, go there early and you will get the best choice in an uncrowded restaurant. Lots of signs alerting me to register my car registration for the free car park, understandable in view of the location just by the riverside next door. Table as per my request in the online booking was right next to the carvery. The choice was excellent, I went for the king size option since I love a second Yorkshire pudding. The lamb was a bit dry but apart from that, the other meats (I went for a bit of each) were quite nice. Top notch roasties and veggies. I left a bit of space for pudding after the carvery and thanks to the recommendations of the lovely Becky, I opted for the crumble: lovely with lots of fruit and a massive portion with ice cream, easily shareable!

Toby Caversham has nosedived badly, having visited several times in the past 12 months, getting worse each time. The staff are resigned to the fact the food quality is consistently poor. They apologised but weren't surprised we'd been served cold soup with uncooked bread rolls fresh out of the packet. The dishes were taken off the bill. Dreadful, easily the worst carvery for miles around.Given that's the house speciality, it's appalling. Despite being a busy Friday evening, almost all the veg was lukewarm and dry; bullet-hard peas, brown carrots, roast potatoes as soft as boiled and an unlabelled tray of random mixed cooked veg. The staff try their best but this is awful value for an awful experience.

Food was good , had to remind about the veggie ratatouille tart, which came so late and was burnt, so didn't eat it

It was all good apart from the roast potatos they was hard in the middle they needed to be part biold first for a fluffy middle.

Had a fantastic family meal at Toby Carvery, Caversham Bridge. The warm welcome from the staff (Emily and Dylan) was matched by the cosy atmosphere which was very welcome with rain pouring down outside! We all chose the generous carvery option which was was tasty and satisfying. Service was great and we felt like valued customers. Looking forward to our next visit!

Overall pretty good for a Toby. You know what to expect but this is better than a lot of the other Toby's we've been to. If you like it, this is a decent one.

Our server Terri was absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful. The server at the carvery Sanjay took along time to come and serve us even after Terri rang the bell for service. The restaurant was quiet and warm and we were able to get out within an hour and 15 minutes

Enjoyed a lovely Roast at Caversham Toby’s. We were greeted by a lovely lady named Courtney, she was very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. I don’t eat meat but do enjoy the veg. Yorkshire puddings were perfect too. food was hot and tasted very fresh, just how it should be. It’s lovely to see the staff smiling too and enjoying their job, don’t see that very often in places.

Absolutely awful. Everyone that I could see made a complaint about the potatoes. You would think that they were made the day before & reheated. They were extremely dry & thick skinned, inedible in fact. Nobody in our vicinity was charged for the meal. I am certainly not prepared to return & I usually come at least fortnightly. Not paying has not changed my mind.

The food is not cooked well here recently. Solid potatoes, hard Yorkshire's. Chewy Gammon, I could go on. Service was good, but the last 3 or 4 times I've been here it's not even compared to other Toby Carvery's locally. The food was the only thing to let the place down

It's a Toby carvery....you know what you're getting. This place is decent. Pretty good sized car park which serves the hotel as well as the restaurant. Service is good. Place is clean.

Everytime we Travel up to London we stop here for breakfast. The staff that take our order are friendly. Recent visit was August and the chef who was on breakfast wasn't friendly at all. Quite disappointed as we travelled 4 hrs before we stopped

Very good service and great food

Went to the Toby Carvery for breakfast with a friend this morning. Food was excellent, with a fantastic choice and range of food and would definitely return if passing. Only bad point had to wait ages at the desk to request a seat while a member of staff was nearby, although she kept looking at me, would not come over. Then when she did she went to the bar and called me over, rather than coming to me, so looses marks for the welcome. So maybe a little need to improve there. Also worth mentioning that there were dirty or stained plates within the clean plate stack, which was a little off putting! No one wants to eat off of a dirty plate. Had to leave them where they were as there were no staff around. (Looking through other reviews it appears this issue has been mentioned before!)

The guy serving the food was rude and could not speak English. The rest of the staff were lovely and polite. Great place to eat but the atmosphere was ruined by the lack of English skills of some staff members The prices are good too.

Great Sunday roast, service was good even though you collect your own meal. 4 meats to choose from. Loads of scrummy vegetable's. Their stuffing is exceptionally good as are their roasties cooked in dripping. We went at 1230 and the restaurant itself was looking a bit worse for wear, food on the floors etc. It is excellent value, a lovely roast dinner for £12.00. We've been before and will definitely be going again.

Just been out for dad’s birthday and had one of the best meals and not just because of the food. Our server, Joe, was so warm and welcoming, joined in with our family jokes and made the experience in my eyes. Food was lovely; a main for all and a pudding or coffee and made my dad’s day. If I could rate it lower I would your ONE job as a restaurant is to cook food yet you fail horribly at this. I ordered online but thankfully got a refund the turkey they served had BLACK on it it’s really not that hard to check the food before you send it out as a quality control. God knows how you’ve got 4 star reviews you really don’t deserve them. Do better

Absolutely useless website - for booking!

Queues were ridiculous and everyone was jammed in wherever there was a space. Food comes in huge quantities but lacks flavour. Kids run riot around you while you're eating. Better to pay a little more and go to a pub that does a decent Sunday Roast.

I personally haven't been to Toby Carvery in a while and we had a family birthday roast dinner very recently. A family member of ours has a recent therapy assistance dog (currently in training) and the staff were amazing in response to us on this occasion, allowing us to dine in. We sat and had a lovely meal - and I enjoyed the food so much! The staff were very professional, friendly and helpful in every way. The atmosphere was just right for our table and it was a very successful visit. I can't wait to re-visit this Toby Carvery, and go for the breakfast maybe next time! I/we had a great experience here and I would definitely recommend eating at Toby Carvery Caversham.

A standard Toby Carvery next to the associated Premier Inn. Parking can be a bit cozy as the car park is small for two popular places. The Carvery restaurant is smooth, efficient & very popular. Booking is certainly advised for Sunday lunch. Midweek the place almost deserted at lunchtime. What I do like about the place is that the tables are sufficiently spaced apart so that you're not sitting on top of one another. The food is very tasty, served with a smile & with help yourself veg, you can't go wrong.

Worst breakfast ever there today. Firstly I had to find a clean plate, as most of them still had food on from yesterday. I think the dishwasher is broken, then no ketchup. Seriously? They'd run out. GO AND BUY SOME! Tesco is just round the corner!!
