Our server Jess was a delight all evening, she made us feel very welcome, made us laugh. We'd never been to Toby carvery before (we are German), we found the whole concept daunting but Jess eased our concerns.

1st visit to reading toby, had an absolutely lovely meal, my daughter is very fussy but Dylan was great in offering foods she may like.

I had a delightful experience within this Toby - I have to say that the service was top notch (quick shout out to Jess E - who was so knowledgeable about the local area with tips of what to see/do). Will recommend to all of my friends passing through!

What can I say. The breakfasts are fantastic. The staff since reopening have been great. Highly recommend the Breakfast to start your day. Will most definitely be back Still as good. Visited again for breakfast this week and the food was still just as good.

I visit often because this is my son's favourite restaurant, but I think that the quality of the food has dropped substantially. The vegetable selection is worse than before, the roast potatoes are under cooked, and there are fewer desserts available.

Decent carvery, nice generous portions. Unfortunately they've changed the Yorkshire pudding recipe so they taste like plaster now, so skip those if you come here

Best breakfast in a long time shame we not local , puts ours up north to shame

I have not been to a Toby Carvery for a few years, so yesterday's visit was special. Arriving for lunch after an hour's swim, parking was easy and we were greeted by pleasant and helpful staff. The food was well presented and tasty, although I must say that the meat portions were smaller than I remember. Apart from that, our meal was enjoyable. I will be back.

I’ve eaten in various Toby Carveries, especially local to me, but this was the first time I had eaten here in the Caversham location. To say that I was super impressed is an understatement and will be eating here in future, as the food was way the best out of all the local ones by far. And our server, Jess, was far the best we’ve had, and friendlier than any that have served us before. Sanjay and Raj did a superb job carving the meats too

Absolutely first rate here. The place was clean and tidy, The staff were friendly and very helpful. The carvery was amazing, one of the best Toby Carvery s we've had. Even though we went in a slack period, the food seemed fresh and hot. The seating was nice and the atmosphere very pleasant. We will definitely be returning.

Great service and good value food

A standard Toby Carvery next to the associated Premier Inn. Parking can be a bit cozy as the car park is small for two popular places. The Carvery restaurant is smooth, efficient & very popular. Booking is certainly advised for Sunday lunch. Midweek the place almost deserted at lunchtime. What I do like about the place is that the tables are sufficiently spaced apart so that you're not sitting on top of one another. The food is very tasty, served with a smile & with help yourself veg, you can't go wrong.

Been a Canadain I ‘m new to Carvery, didn’t know the rules about the MEAT section. I think the chiefs should inform the paying customers about the portions. Other than that you have a great place to meet and have a meal. You should give your staff a pat on the back they did a awesome job, taking care of my 31 friends Thanks again

Called Thursday evening around 6pm had a carvery, was about £10.99? Was nice enough, was quite busy as the carvery was popular, staff seemed nice and friendly, car parking was limited spaces due to the travel lodge being next door, register your car registration on entry, then you get free parking. Nice enough place, would go again

Delicious carvery and great atmosphere

4 Roast meats and 7 vegetables on offer.

There was a bit of an issue with the beef (too chewy to eat) but everything else was great and the customer service was beyond excellent! (It must be said that the meat (as well as everything else) is ordinarily fantastic - we are regulars!) The waitress, Catherine, was absolutely lovely and very kind, as was the manager, Courtney, who generously took a couple items off our bill. Overall a very positive experience and we will 100% be returning soon! ((Apologies if any names have been misspelled!))

We went in at bit before 11am on a Saturday. The car park was half empty, and most of the tables were empty. There was a queue of five people at the door with staff actively ignoring customers. One of the other customers told us we could sit down and order at the bar. None of the staff made this clear. They just watched people queue up and got on with other jobs. We then tried to order at the bar but there was no-one there. The lady in front of us said to a staff member going past "excuse me, I've already been here fifteen minutes. Is anyone serving?" The guy told her off ("I'm not working the bar. I can't do everything") and made a point of telling her breakfast finished at 11. She walked out. We eventually got a staff member to acknowledge us and after waiting so long ourselves, we're told food would be half an hour, so we left as well.

Good Toby Carvery. Parking is shared with the Premier Inn and you must remember to put your registration number into the screen by the door, or you will get a fine. Decent carvery selection, but they still don't label things. They really need to listen & label anything that isn't just standard vegetables. People have allergies, so can't try the potato & leek etc, as they've no idea what's in it... if it is even just potato & leek, who knows (only the cook apparently).

All staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Unfortunately, the food was bland and overcooked. The Yorkshire pudding was just crunchy, like one giant batter crisp. Carrots were tasteless and too soft. Stuffing was too dry. There were 3 types of roast potatoes but I couldn't identify any difference in the taste and they were under seasoned and soft.

I haven’t been to Toby carvery in many years, so it was a bit of a treat for me and my son to go there, and I have to say that it is exactly how I remember it, and we had a really terrific lunch. Our plates were brimming over with the Sunday roast, and we were thoroughly stuffed by the time we left. I actually think the price per head including a drink was quite reasonable, and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was extremely crowded, which is actually good to see, but everything looked pretty clean and tidy and the service was very good. I will definitely be coming again. It’s not often that you get good value for money in Britain these days. Well done.

Moved away from England 2012 so coming home and having a good carvery is always lush!

Lovely Roast, Excellent staff, good food, reasonable prices, what's not to like?

We had a booking for a large family group, when we arrived the restaurant was heaving and we had to wait a long time after our booked time to be seated. However, the staff were excellent, kept us informed about the wait, and threw in a free round of drinks in compensation for the delay. The food was great, as always, too. I felt for the staff today, working so hard and rushed off their feet, but still full of smiles and very friendly.

Meal out for four people and one toddler, it's precisely what you expect it to be so no big surprises there, however some above and beyond assistance from Patrick our server, helping negotiate the toddlers issues and needs. Many thanks!

Been here a couple of times and would have rated it 3 stars. This time great service and food fantastic, possibly a new chef. I've paid a great deal more for a carvery that wasn't up to this standard. Hope they keep it up!

I've only been there a couple times, but each time the staff have been friendly and helpful, the food has been great, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Parking is a bit tight, bit not enough to make it a deal breaker.

Food met expectations and was priced accordingly, service attentive. Just the atmosphere/ environment feels like it is time to be upgraded. It’s quite dark, cold drafts at this time of year not welcome! Additionally a bit behind the times without ability to provide coffees with non-dairy milks.

Came in on New Year’s Day when the place was empty. Was told I’d have to sit in the bar because all the tables had been booked up for the hour. This was incorrect as I was able to book tables online straight through the hour. They still insisted I sit near the cold dark corner in the bar near the window where it was freezing cold. I then went to order carvery. The guy completely screwed up the meat and tried to give me beef, which I can’t eat due to religion, when I clearly stated three times I wanted lamb. He stood there hands on hips and asked very accusatorially well what meat do you want then. I am fine with repeating what I said but I do not appreciate someone talking to me that way about my food. He also didn’t give me a Yorkshire pudding and never asked if I wanted one. Terrible service. Go and learn from your lower earley staff how to treat people

I had such a fantastic lunch at Toby Carvery Caversham Bridge on December 30! The atmosphere was cozy and warm, and despite Christmas being over, the decorations still gave off such a joyful holiday spirit. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal, and even the kids loved it! The carvery itself was amazing, but what really made our visit special was the service. Our waiter, Dylan, was incredibly friendly and attentive. Since we’re from Korea and not very familiar with the menu, Dylan took the time to explain everything to us with a warm smile, making sure we felt comfortable. He even checked in on us regularly to ensure that everything was perfect. His kindness truly made our lunch more enjoyable! I highly recommend this Toby Carvery, and we'll definitely be back!

Very good Tobery. The carvery guy was the best we've ever seen, so friendly and cheerful. The food was excellent, but service was a little slow when it came to clearing plates and taking dessert orders.

Love a roast , but vegetables were only luke warm 🫤

Meat are fresh, we had turkey and beef. Unlike before, the beef is so tender compared to chewy/rubbery/dry consistency when I had it the last time. So in short, it's not consistent. Lots of selection of pudding. Good service too. Vegan options available. Toilet is clean but lots of toilet seat has been damaged during the festival.

Today I came here for my daughter’s 16th birthday and was served by a lovely gentleman called DYLAN. Didn’t book a table and was seated near enough straight away. Dylan came over to take our drink order, very polite and welcoming and paid attention to our comfort. Dylan wished my daughter happy birthday. It’s always a better experience with a lovely table server. Thanks DYLAN x

Dylan was my server he was so nice and new what I wanted, was very positive he kept checking in on us when we needed him like he could read are mind!!!!!

Came here with my mum and son for a Sunday roast. We were served by Dylan, who was such a polite and helpful young man. He made sure my son had an activity pack whilst we were waiting for our food, although the food didn’t take long to come despite it being a busy Sunday evening. Thank you very much Dylan :)

£33 for 3 for all you can eat is an amazing price, the food is lovely and so is the staff would recommend going.

When ordering a drink the staff were too busy laughing and joking amongst themselves to notice me waiting.When they finally noticed me I was served without a smile,zero eye contact and they only seemed happy when they were back talking amongst themselves I went back the next day and it was as if I was getting in the way Wetherspoons is MUCH better Never again

Soma gave us the most perfect service ever thanks. She was so helpful and attentive not to mention fast. The food was good although the beef was quite stringy. The parsnips weren’t cooked. Parking was easy. A nice man asked if we wanted to move as were sitting near the busy queue, this was thoughtful. 2 Guinness zero were £8 which was nice. Thanks

The staff were friendly and welcoming, The restaurant was clean and cheerful with the Christmas decorations. There was a good section of food which was very nice .We had a lovely time

We go often for the Sunday dinner as it has lamb only on sundays.

Staff were very friendly, very fast to greet us and take us over to our table. Server greeted us within 5 minutes of our arrival to offer us drinks, very good selection of drinks. The food was amazing. The beef was succulent and the gammon melted in my mouth. The beef dripped roast potatoes and roasted parsnips were incredibly tasty and the gravy was to die for.
