Have had food here so many time, worth the 40 mins drive food is alway fresh and really nice. Also they do the BEST faludaa.

Very disappointed with quality if food. We ordered one panjabi samosa, sev oyri and vada pav. Samosa were over fried, sev ouri had excess sev and accompaniments thrown too much that you don't get sev puri taste at all. Vada pav had no pav but burger buns. Then don't call it pav, call is vada bun. The taste of the food was just not there

I’ve come here a few times and like the food but today’s visit the server was quite rude when I asked if the music’s volume can be reduced. The speakers were blasting loud film music and it isn’t a pleasant atmosphere in the middle of the day. What put me off is when I asked her if she could turn it down she didn’t acknowledge just said no and carried on with her work. Probably wouldn’t come again.

Good Indian snacks. The price is not less it's ok according to the place, atmosphere and service. When we compromise a little in these things then this price and place is a good match.

Would highly recommend the Bhel Puri Chaat, will definitely be back again for this. Would have given a 5 star if the service was better. Couldn't fault the food though, the most authentic Indian street food I have had locally. Visited again 6 years later and have revised my review to 5 star. Food was delicious, pani poori is one of the tastiest I’ve had and was very reasonably priced.

Great place for a snack and a hot cuppa of tea!

We were walking around Oracle Center and decided to get supper. I did a search and 3 Indian places came up close to us. We walked that direction and came to this one first. We looked at the menu and is seemed very reasonable. We went in and they were very friendly and helpful. We ordered 3 dishes including the chips to share. We are not used to Indian restaurants giving us large orders bit when the food came I knew we would be taking some back. I tried one of the chips and all I could think was "How have I never had these before?" They were just amazing. This was the best Indian food I have ever had.

Indian snacks items tastes bland. I ordered bhel puri only to find lots of potatoes in the bottom of my plate. And taste was also not great.

I have visited this place recently after a long time and the quality of food and service has deteriorated significantly. The food tasted (especially the Indian chat items) tasted stale and were not up to the mark (like the old times at all).

I have been a regular visitor to this cafe for a few years, visiting after work with friends. Behind the slightly ramshackle appearance is a great offering, a wide range of traditional Indian vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices. The quality is excellent, and it's a friendly, informal place. Favourites for me are the Punjabi Samosas and Bhel Puri puffed rice. I love the lime soda as well. Thanks 😊

Prices of the food were nominal and they served it in a decent quantity, however taste wise, it needs improvement, didn’t like it much. It was below average.

For an authentic Indian chat experience, this is the epitome. While bhelpuri boasts a distinct taste, the satisfaction reached with kachori chat, samosa chat, and aloo tiki chat is unparalleled. staff are all friendly and nice which is a bonus ❤️❤️

Some items like Samosa are top notch and pretty much avoid things like so called Indian Tea, Indo-Chinese noodles, etc.

So love the food here. Indian street food at its best in the centre of town. Our go-to for lunch every time.

This place was better last time we were here. This time the Pao Bhaji’s bhaji was a little dry and tomato Ketchup was used in the chaat dish which is a sacrilegious act for chaat lovers! Could be that the main chef was on holiday.

The food is gorgeous and it is just so lovely to be in a restaurant where I can eat everything off the menu.

Ever since the previous Chef left, the food portions have become a lot smaller, the Gobi Manchurian and Chilli paneer has lost it's originality. It is no longer the same. Used to visit the place at least once a month, but for now it is no longer appealing.

Masala chai is amazing, please take vada pav off the menu asap. Chef has never tried vada pav in Mumbai. One single Vada served in a soggy burger bun, with ketchup and green chutney and chopped Onions! Horrendous and criminal.

Visited here last Thursday as was feeling like eating Indian chaats. I ordered samosa, kachori, samosa chaat, pani puri, dahi vada, mango lassi, Oreo shake and mango falooda. Pani puri was ok but other than that everything else was so disappointing and didn’t taste anything like Indian chaats. Kachori was the worst, no taste whatsoever, samosas were not crispy, samosa chaat was cold and samosas were stretchy. Dahi vada was also not good. Drinks were just ok. Worst, I had tummy upset the very next day. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

We ordered 1) aloo tiki chat 2) dahi puri Tasted good but tasted very similar to each other. Not bad 7/10

Staff is not motivated, very much lethargic. Which somewhere disappointed. Do not try Dabeli and noodles here.Dabeli is extremely spicy when requested to staff to reduce spice, they refused. I visited with my friend once again and i orderd dahi puri, it was full of chat masala. When i report this to manager he simply blamed on the Asian lady in his staff. Very much irresponsible and disrespectful behavior of the staff. Caution: DO NOT TRY THEIR SWEETS. The restaurant has added low quality material which violates food safety standards. Reading city council must inspect. Noodles is having bad smell.

I personally hated this , I ordered tikki, and though it looked pretty appealing but it was hard to gulp, and the chutneys used were all watery, and when asked, they said its like this only. So, after trying my best, I still left some on plate.. Also, God save from kind of hygiene there's tabke on left with water glasses just check water glasses from inside you'll surely leave Tikki like I did 😆 Also, there were also chickpeas along with Tikki.. But, if you still Wana try to go ahead .. ..may be you like it..

Didn't expect to have such a bad experience here. Sev Puri is just sev and hardly anything else in it. Food quality is not up to mark, taste is not close what it use to be earlier. Service was horrible, and clearly staff is not at all open to any feedbacks from the customer.

Stunning Indian Street food! I thought I'd enjoy it but I was blown away by how much I loved it. I (kind of) understand what other reviews have mentioned about the atmosphere and service but this is a street food establishment. They serve your food and don't hassle you afterwards. I like that personally. You have to get your own cutlery that is right next to where you order? Awww, diddums. Bottom line: Stunning food and extremely inexpensive!

Absolutely delicious. Come in with an open mind and order a couple of dishes to find what you like, it's the food that once you've found a favourite nothing else will fill that craving. For me it's the Dhokla, which I can't not order if they have it!

Food was very delicious, authentic, mouthwatering, good portion size and was served within minutes of ordering it. Staff members are good, hard working and helped me choose some of the dishes according to my taste. Staff are very busy and dedicated with work (serving, clearing tables etc) They don't talk much or are engrossed in work, but do answer questions nicely and do smile when approached with smile. We spoke with them nicely and they were nice to us too. We had to takeaway some of the food, as portion size was very generous. Although the restaurant area is small, we thoroughly enjoyed there.

The staff was highly unprofessional and rude. I asked politely from could I pick tea from, the lady shouted at me saying when it’s ready we’ll bring it to your table. She even went to give me strange stares when I mixed two dishes names while ordering. Highly disappointed with the food, ordered 2 dishes and both looked same. The tea was just water with tea powder, utterly bad.

A very generous portion of food that sadly didn't quite live up to my expectations. It would certainly be a challenge to finish the two plates that's for sure. I found one of the dishes to be very dry but the other dish was aided by yoghurt and had a nice fresh taste with a spicy kick

Indian vegetarian cuisine is one of the culinary wonders of the world. It may have potential to become more widespread in western countries. This restaurant has a wide choice. I had Aloo Tikki Chaat, Chilli Mushrooms, 2 cups of tea and a box of burfi. It was all excellent. I need, however to mention that the restaurant does not have rice and naan. This is a major omission. Awesome coffee.. One of the best Indian Coffee in Reading, I can say. Also, good collection of Indian sweets and 'chat' varieties. The Ginger tea is nice too, and the Kachori Dal is otherworldly stuff. Will visit many times again! :)

Went to this place today, when entered another customer was already arguing with staff about stinky tables. Sat down, horrible smell, requested the staff member if the table could be cleaned who responded, No they can't, and said other places around here are even dirtier than this(what a justification), just left without eating.

I had visited this bhel puri house today worst experience I ever had in my life selling the expired chickpeas or potatoes I ordered dahi puri and vada pav dahi puri is disgusting i told them that it tastes like something is not good in it but she just says we used to make it like that it’s a simple case of negligence they didn’t check that items they used was expired

Food is good, service is worst… The person who is taking the order at the till is so rude, I requested that am allergic to onions, is it possible to make without it- her expression and attitude was very rude and bad.. While serving the food, I asked for the cutlery- she replied can’t u see it is kept ok the table ; get up and take it.. Food is great; Indian sweets are amazing but no worth if the service is worst. Staffs are not friendly, not welcoming. While we walked to use the rest room, saw the chef in the kitchen using bare hands to arrange food on the plates, touching noodles with hands. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Really amazing restaurant for street food Indian style. You have to try and have something different. A little hidden gem please try and enjoy the day. Saṭrīṭa phūḍa iḍī'ana saṭā'īla la'ī asala vica śānadāra raisaṭōraiṇṭa. Tuhānū kujha vakharā karana dī kōśiśa karanī pavegī. Ika chōṭā jihā luki'ā ratana kirapā karake kōśiśa karō atē dina dā anada la'ō.

Pav bhaji is good but other than that no other foods was good enough. Moreover the behavior of the staffs specially the man and one of the lady is very very bad. Have no idea how they manage a restaurant business with such rude and mis behaviors.

I think it's part of the Mercure George Hotel and yet it's tucked away in a separate side building. It's fairly dark inside but sufficiently clean. You have to place your order at the till and collect the cutlery, napkin, water jug and glass from the side counter. The food is brought to your table when ready. The menu is mostly popular street food dishes which is authentic and flavoursome. They also provide a takeaway service. There is a selection of prepacked snacks and sweets available for takeaway. Sometimes they have Indian Bollywood music playing in the background but it lacks the ambience and a warm welcome from the staff. The price is reasonable. Bhel Puri House is within easy access from the Oracle.

Very good food but it's a self service area

This is my 2nd time here. The food is nice and better than other chaat counters in Reading. The sweet boxes are authentic as well. The taste is the only positive side of this place. They severely lack customer service and basic etiquettes of talking to someone. The staff are rude and lack basic mannerism. Moreover they go and start mocking their customers behind their back. Let me clear it out - even though they call themselves Indian, however they are not. Food is served without any cutlery and when you ask them, they will point towards a table at the corner where all the cutlery and tissues are kept. You are expected to help yourself. I didn't understand the point - either go for self service otherwise opt for full services.

The restaurant is reasonably priced but the food is not good at all. We ordered bhel puri, sev puri, dahi puri, shezuan noodles and mushroom chilli and dahi vada. Bhel puri was decent, but the rest of it tasted either bad or bland.

Excellent. We read few reviews where they had mentioned that the taste was not authentic and the staff were rude. The staff were pleasent and helpful. We had Bhel Puri and Samosa Chat. We enjoyed both. The taste was good and the portion wholesome. They have recently started deserts, we tried item number 14 on the menu. It was tasteful and skill fully prepared by the Indian origin chef.

Food is decent. Tastes like Indian street food. Quantity is good. Where it lacks is service. Didn't understand the way they serve. They served the dish to our tables, but no cutlery. We had to pick cutlery from the corner. Either you serve at the table or make it self-service. Falooda was good. Didn't feel welcome by their service.

Located in Prime location in Reading. Taste was very good but it was mostly self serviced restaurant. It's too expensive. Tea was bad. Lot of options to choose from. Treat for vegetarians.

The worst customer experience and the food is poor. I food was delivered to wrong table but when I said I got the wrong order the guy at the till said I ordered in wrong. When the other person came saying he got the wrong order, even then the guy at the till did not accept his mistake and kept being rude. They are being rude just because there is constant influx of Indian people looking to taste the flavour of India and this place is just is just robbing then blind.

Perfect and delicious food. Well the guy on the till was not too friendly and he was very rude and was not managing the tables properly. Anyhow we managed to get one as it was already vacant and got with the help of one Chinese lady who was looking after tables. She was very kind and served us very well. Apart from pictures took the chilli paneer as well and enjoyed it as it got an authentic taste. Note: I would have given five if that Chinese lady was the first to meet as she was managing every table very nicely.

Lovely place for some light bites. Amazing Indian snacks - can be customised as per your taste (more or less spicy). Lots of veg options. They've recently introduced vegan options too both in snacks and desserts. Worth trying. Kid friendly - lovely smoothies and shakes.

Visited this place after 4 years, food has gone down, place stinks. Don't know whether they had a off day or post pandemic food quality is dropped..probably they lost their main chef..whatever the reason might be, food was awful.

I ordered bhel puri house platter. I was told that I will get 3 items. However when I got the order, there were only 2 items. When I checked with them, I was told that items are mixed in one plate. This is just to fool customers.

Horrible... Ordered kachori chaat.. kachori was not at all crispy and seemed like it wasn't freshly made. Paneer chilli.. my kids who love paneer didn't even want second bite.. Samosa was ok.. more like a frozen samosa. Total waste of money and very disappointed as we were looking forward to have some authentic chats.
