Pretty poor cafe, unfortunately. Staff were friendly but that’s it. Shame since you have that lovely garden and it would be an ideal spot to finish a trip for a coffee and lunch after the poison gardens but the value and quality was not there. Also, very poor pricing for plainly made plastic bagged breadcake sarnies. There’s cost of living and then there’s just daft pricing.

Ate here last year and the food and options available were quite good. Not sure what has happened in the meantime but there was no hot food menu available at all (it's being changed apparently) and there was a poor selection of stodgy sandwiches. There was one person on the till and they also had to make the drinks so the queue was long and slow. Definitely won't be eating here again.

Arrived for a coffee before a tour of the gardens as it was raining. Went into the pavillion and stood in the queue...waited and waited ... their was a problem at the till....a huge queue formed ... no manager to help the two ladies so one had to wander off to get help.meanwhile a smaller kiosk near the door "hot food" was empty...we were then directed by the lady left on her own to go to this other unit. We all trooped over...no lights on the counter and no one around! Eventually a surly young man came out from the back and a young girl. Asked for 2 coffees which were slammed down... milk? Pointed at a jug then walked off! The queue was now getting restless! Another young lady approached and said to the girl on the til...why are the lights on! She promptly turned them off....I walked away. Sat with my coffee watching the rain and my DH said look at your cup...rain was pouring in to the cafe and into my cup!! No one was helping anyone piles of dirty trays on tables...cakes were nearly all gone at 11.15! No one filling up.where is the organisation and support for theses surly youngsters. Sadly the same at the Gelato cart!

De la nourriture... typiquement anglaise. Le service n'était pas le plus agréable non plus. En revanche, c'était appréciable de pouvoir déguster un bon carrot cake après une visite des jardins.

Food was inedible, actually disgusting and cold. The baguette had sat for who knows how long and was like trying to chew through a shoe. Children’s meal stone cold

£17.00 for two slices of cake, one brownie and two coffees. The brownie was ok, but the Victoria sponge cake and carrot cake were foul. However they did complement the stale, sickly coffees. Not value for money.

We arrived at 2pm hoping to have some lunch. Place was awful. Dirty tables, floor, bins overflowing. Ran out of chips, chicken and sandwiches. What we ate was disgusting.

REALLY needs clarity on the hot food options. No menu displayed until 12, by which point a large queue was forming. Pizza was available (order at a separate counter, pay in main Hot Food queue) but again - no menu. £9 or £10 per pizza (large enough for an adult, 12 or 14 year old, 4 options for toppings), no signage for the "meal deal" which we only found out about once we reached the front of the (did I say long?) queue. Hot food menu appeared behind the counter, some reasonably priced options (e.g. pulled pork loaded fries £5.95, plate of fries £2.60) on it. Would have ordered differently had we known what was on offer.

Poor service and limited choice of sandwiches etc. The only thing I could eat was a prawn and crème fraiche sandwich which left a weird taste in my mouth. Went down with food poisoning the next day so will not be wasting my money or health here again.

12pm lunch time, busy and queing to find no real cold food choices with only a handful of unappertising sandwiches and boxed salads that were mainly and padded out with lettuce leaves. Charged the earth at the onlly payment till run by the slowest person ever. Paying customer to Anlwick Gardens are seriously let down by the poorly managed catering facilities.

Visited last weekend to see the beautiful Cherry Blossom. Unfortunately the cafe experience was extremely poor for such a prestigious location. The only hot food available was the choice of three unappetising panini sandwiches served without any garnish on a paper plate.

Staff might know the strange process but myself and others around me where confused. The order stations then paying is not as clearly marked as it should be. Floor stickers would be my advise. The board changing constantly behind the pizza station is not where your eye is drawn. Once finally ordered and waited we got the wrong pizza order! Revisit the garden? Yes Revisit the cafe? Nope

We are friends of the Alnwick Garden and often visit the Garden, even just visiting the Pavilion for a welcome cuppa. There have been various refurbishments in the last couple of years. You always used to get a pot of tea, but nowadays, it is only a mug of hot water witha teabag dangling from it. This happened once before and after speaking with the catering manager who happened to be there, suggesting that we will need to bring our own teapot, he immediately said that was not necessary, just ask at the counter and you can get one. This worked fine until more recently, no more teapots, even after suggesting they get the cheaper metal pots that don't break, the staff said that would not match the cups and mugs but it is fine to bring your own teapot. It looks as if we will bring our own little teapot and enjoy our tea so much more again. Almost all cafés in Alnwick and surrounding areas supply a teapot including Sainsbury's and Costa Coffee, excluding take aways. So does National Trust and other visitors attractions. We do hope strongly that teapots will be reintroduced, even just for people who ask for it. This would make the regulars very happy.

We have been here many times though I haven't reviewed it for a good while. We love visiting here early in the morning before the crowds arrive and enjoy a very good coffee and scones (which are huge!) the place serves a range of cakes, sandwiches and more substantial food and one can enjoy sitting at tables indoors with great views over the gardens or in the exterior terrace area. Staff are friendly and service good.

Lovely big clean cafe in the beautiful Aln wick gardens. No menu or pricing on display for the hot food / carvery which was a roast beef carvery or a vegetarian stew and dumplings. Had to queue to ask how to order this then stand in another queue to order.Scones were terrible, looked nice but were inedible as they just crumbled away when cutting them. Either previously frozen or not enough liquid in the mixture. Roast beef carvery all very nice except for the roast beef which was tough, chewy and inedible. Was left on plate, not good for a dish costing £13 ish. All very disappointing and being a tourist attraction very pricey, which makes it more if a let down. The gardens are incredible, we will be back but will not eating there again.

Reasonably priced food and drinks. The freshly cooked pizza was delicious. Would highly recommend. Located at entrance to Alnwick Garden.

We have eaten lunch here a few times. The cafe/restaurant is in the great location in the Gardens and there are outdoor tables which are superb on a good day. There is a reasonable range of food but we think they could do much better for vegetarians and a better choice of more interesting sandwiches. Prices are not cheap - tea, coffee, scones etc are expensive compared to many cafes in town. Service is friendly and welcoming.

Having previously booked this and paid in advance I was very disappointed, starter pulled ham terrine was delicious, the main Roast Turkey with trimmings was very disappointing, roast potatoes were soggy as if they had been kept warm, broccoli was well over cooked, the carrots were tasteless and again had been kept warm, pigs in blankets were ok,roasted parsnip was hard and had been kept warm, the sweet Eaten Mess had been made so long there was no mess. As we were the only ones booked in for lunch I find this unacceptable as we had to pre order so they knew exactly what they had to cook. Need to get their act together, although the staff were lovely.

We are regular visitors to the garden and always enjoy our tea , coffee and lunch here. Always a good choice on the menu, well cooked and reasonably priced. It can get a little bit busy around 12:00 but worth the wait

Amazing Sunday dinner, served so quickly by wonderfully friendly staff - the beef was beautifully tender and the vegetables were well seasoned. The place was full of happy customers!

This cafe in Hexham has a great atmosphere for a supermarket cafe. The staff are friendly and the food is great.
