Paul's Golden Chippie in South Tyneside

£18 for a Donner kabab and a portion of chips. I was asked if I wanted salad on my kabab, which I did. Didn't bother putting the salad on though. So kabab meat and chips for £18.

I love this place. Food is cooked to order, fresh and tasty. Hardly any waiting time. Portions are generous and prices very reasonable. Best fish and chips I've had.

Excellent service all round. Asked for 22 pizzas, were delivered fresh and hot at the time we requested. Best pizza we have had in ages. Thanks again

We visited pauls fish grill ,we got 4 pizzas ,2 bags of chips and garlic and chilli sauces, the pizzas were nice but thats where it stopped the chips were scraggy very dark brown and rock solid with not much potatoe left in them ,hurting our mouths when we ate them ,far too overcooked we threw nearly the 2 bags away ,you would think a chip shop would know how to cook chips ,it was like having 2 bags of coal ,the staff were keep saying whens the chips ready and the staff member kept saying 2 minutes ,clueless ,wont be going back again waste of money as they're not cheap.

Kebab lovely, chips disgusting hard like they had been left from afternoon shift.never again. I heard pauls chippy was nice but come on I wouldn't give them chips to the dogs.

I order cod and chips tonight and got Dark brown cold and rubbery chips and not fit for purpose and definitely not fit to be selling to customers and should go in the bin before giving to customers..waste of money ..and a complete rip off..Mc Cain chips would do a better job. I'm never going back there again

Simply the best fish and chips around. The Haddock was the best I've ever eaten. The portions are huge. The batter was light and crispy, the chips were so tasty. Unbelievable value. I can not recommend this place highly enough.

I go to Paul's Fish Grill quite regularly and I've always been very satisfied with their food. Normally fish and chips/sausage for me and my wife and a pizza for my Grandson. All excellent food and properly cooked and presented. A big thank you to Clare too for making sure we're well looked after and well served. Top place for takeaway food imho. 😊👍

The food was horrible we had a haggis that had went off, the customer service was appalling and this was the manager, dont expect a refund, we never got one, would never go back, its gone right down hill, try top fellas, lovely food and lovely staff

I would never normally complain! Got a half/half pizza bolognaise and donner had garlic on the donner side. Asked for no onions came with a load of them. The pizza was so soggy! Then the delivery driver dropped the garlic sauce. Said it wasn’t spilled once I took it out of the packet it was all over! Awfully bad and not impressed

Ordered delivery, person taking orders said my postcode didn't have my address on that postcode??? 1 hour 20 minutes later no food, rang to check was told delivery was in our street, 10 minutes later still no food..cancelled. terrible service!!!

Appalling food at obscene prices!! The old 'recooked' chips were appalling (at £2.35 a portion!), full of black bits. Reminded me of chips as a kid, when Old potatoes were at the end of their life (Before the new potatoes were in season) & were absolutely 'Awful' - Never Again!!

Telephoned, as Paul's where taking orders for the elderly , both our parents are over 90 yrs ,,my card payment was slow to go through , the delivery driver was shouted at ,and told to put fone down and cancel order I heard this conversation clearly , ,from the supervisor , so rude , I asked to order again ,but was refused , , foul mouthed lady , went to golden bull ,jarrow ,excellent service and quality

First time been as passed by and thought that looks bright and clean, I ordered just a Cod and the Lady who served me was very friendly and polite, My fish was absolutely beautiful fresh with no skin or bones cooked in a nice batter I really enjoyed it, 10/10 thank you

Lovely food. At times you have to wait a little for your order so better to ring this in and collect it. I have been coming here for years but I think over the last 2 years it has improved and is consistent. One of the best chippies I think😃

Have used Paul’s for years however the food has gone downhill and on numerous occasions when we have pre ordered the food has turned up around 2 hrs early and has been sent back when it did arrive at its correct time our fish was dripping with fat Seemed like it had been thrown back into the fryer discussing this used to be the place to go but we will not be using again

Haven't been to Paul's for a while and thought would give them a try. Wish I hadn't as they messed my order up and some of the food was cold and greasy. Missed a bag of chips off the order and the donor kebab consisted of cold kebab meat with a pitta bread, nothing else no salad or anything. It was only an after thought from the person serving to ask if I wanted any sauce. I then asked for 2 small tubs of garlic to which I was given 1 large as they didn't have any small tubs made up. The fish although my wife says tasted nice was drenched in grease. Won't be going back anytime some. I'm afraid.

I got a mixed kebab box the chicken was all fat and greasy knuckles totally inedible I will never go back I spoke to someone to complain but got no where I will attach pictures it's absolutely disgusting

Went to paul chippy tonight 30 mins to get served to the girls behind the counter were allowing regular to skip ahead ordered a sausage and chip got home to find no sausage 4.15 for chip. Need retraining wont be returning.

we get fish and chips from here always large portions of chips and really lovely but lately the portions of chips have been smaller but Saturday was shocking really small portion half the amount of normal portion have been coming here for years but will be trying somewhere else now the price has gone up but size has gone down mention to man who served me but wasn't bothered

The chips at Paul's are disgusting ,Sunday night we got fish n chips ,fish was ok not ash good as usual ,,the chips were disgusting put them in the bin ,,,mushed up together black eyes in them ,,surely the server would have seen the chips were bad ,so why did she serve them ,

We ordered fish and chips (soggy) and whilst the presentation of the fish looked ok, the overall taste was not good, i'm not sure what they use for cooking but it tasted vile .. i was still tasting the oil 3 days later, my mouth felt like it had been coated in old cooking fat. the fish was so small for the prices they charge here too... would rather get fish from the supermarket and cook my own for the prices they charge in here. it's hebburn not hollywood.wont be going back unless we hear of major changes going on there.

I could not believe the inflated prices in HEBBURN for frozen half cooked chips or fish. We will just go to Asda and get the fish and chips and cook them at home for less than £10 rather than pay £34 for this rubbish ever again. I suspect the chippies in HEBBURN are working together as there is NO competition in these fancy overpriced fish shops

Regularly order from here and thought I would get usual piece of fish but ended up with a half sized fish instead! Is this the size they’re doing all the time now or is this a one off ??? Will give them another shot, hopefully it’s a mistake !!!

Excellent quality food and great friendly staff a little expensive but we'll worth the money would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a great food experience

Pauls used to be an amazing chippy, it's absolutely revolting now. Food is crap. I live right next to this place, there are a large number of rats living in the area.. Bins always stink and they leave the back door open.. I've seen rats leaving the chip shop. Absolutely disgusting

Recently moved to area and good fish and chips was needed.

we had fish and chips as usual, always been good,,a few weeks ago same a usual but when we got home chips were ok but fish was tiny and was like a leather sole off a shoe ...worst ever! giving the benefit of the doubt tried again tonight, nice fish but manky chips, so disappointed..gonna be going elsewhere me thinks need to get their act together!

Great chippy we love the cod bites from here. Staff always seem happy and the food is great. Also do good pizzas the london pizza is the best

In the past, this chippy had been a huge disappointment but after the recent management change, it has improved massively. The chips, pizzas, burgers and garlic breads are amazing!

been here many times and yes i can see why people would enjoy it enough chips to feed the family , fish size is good but £6.45 for fish and chips in Hebburn mabe I'm just to upper class but if u tho k I'm paying 6.45 when I can get the best fish n chips at seaburn 4 £540 it's shocking the quality and taste does not compare they say it's cod mabe farmed cod ! as at the beach u can taste the freshness of the fish and the colour is like Simon Cowells teeth so id like proff of it beeing cod but 4 workin class hobos in hebburn it's a rush meal it's the price that bugs me if travelled the world retired at 40 but will not be charged 6.45 4 this council food

Amazing fish it’s always fresh and delicious and you can order without batter which is a bonus if your trying to eat more healthy I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Lovely fish and chips from Paul's. A very modern Takeaway food establishment. The only problem I have is there are a lot of information screens in the shop and one minute you're reading the menu and the next it's disappeared, you have to wait until it pops back up to continue looking for what you want. That aside the food is lovely.

This is by far the best fish shop in the area and has been for years. The fish is always beautiful and the chips aren't greasy.

Very clean & pleasantly decorated chippy.Staff helpful & polite. First visit recently and although this isn't the cheapest place around the portion sizes are large.If you don't want huge quantities of chips half the number of packets you ask for.

Just had a fish and chip takeaway from Paul's. Fish was a fair size and very nice. Plenty of chips and not really greasy like some takeaways in Jarrow. Worth a visit

My mam likes this chip shop and as it's clean and the food is quality with big portions I go 4 her few times a week the staff dnt listen if u want salt n vinegar sometimes it's missed or ask 4 batter it is better than most in the area , but wat gets me is the PRICE u can go to the beach and get cheaper fish n chips the price is shocking this puts me off , you are charged a fee 4 card payments this is a con to start with , money is not the issue as I eat in all top restaurants in town but feel cheated that this guy is charging a lot more than the coast fish n chips this will not stop the local hillbillys and benefit people as it a decent fish shop

well here goes ..where i live in a radius of 5 miles there r about 5 chippies but the best one is pauls in albert rd .thay r the best f chips in the local area .but not forgetting boldon f chip shop thay r exelent all round and u get good portions as well ..all in all its a hard choice

Got in late from a busy day and couldn't be bothered to cook. Ordered chicken wraps from Paul's and a few sides, absolutely fantastic, and to top it off, a brilliant, reasonable price. Will be ordering again.

This is by far the best chippy shop in Hebburn. The fish is always fresh white and tasty. The portion size is also very generous. I have never ordered pizzas or kebabs from here but whenever I have been in the shop they all look very good.

The fish and chips here are always lovely and fresh. There's usually a queue but that that shows how popular this place is. I don't visit often but that's personal choice not a reflection of the food.

You used to be able to get consistently good fish & chips but since it reopened it's not so good . The chips never seem fresh and are too dried out as if they have been cooked and kept warm . When you pay nearly £2 a bag you should get good quality . I have just been and waited behind 10 people in a queue so expected fresh chips but they were awful and went in the bin .

Always get our fish and chips here. Excellent quality fresh fish and loads of chips. Not cheap but no dearer than other places of poorer quality. We don't go anywhere else.

I have been going to this chip shop for several years and it always serves quality food. The food portions are large, even with the recent price increase you still get value for money. Following a refurb (very nicely decorated), it joined Just-Eat and although the delivery price is £2 and I only live a few streets away, my order is normally delivered within 10/15 minutes which is great.Highly recommend this chip shop!

I regularly get fish and chips takeout here and the fish is absolutely fantastic. The only negative is that the chips are just the same as you'd get at any other chippy. The Doner kebabs are brilliantly wrapped in separate plastic containers.

fish and chips are lovely, best in the area. however, when my partner went round and got some for us one night around 10pm, they weren't the same. they had already started to clean everything down and were reluctant to put fresh fish in to fry so was given a fish that had been lying in the heater for a while. just not the same, would have waited the extra ten minutes for a nice crispy fish rather than a fish that was barely warm and soggy. eatable but has put us off going for a while

Waited 25 minutes for fish and chips Second visit in a week same as last time no products ready! surely it wouldn't do any harm to have fish ready especially in a busy shop 6 customers waiting! it's a shame because fish and chips are good . Cleaning down of cabinets always done hours before the shop closes !thinking of going elsewhere as I am sure other customers must be thinking the same !

My partner and I are foodies and these are the best fish and chips we have ever had, we have eaten in the best of places but we still cannot find anyone to beat them, we get 2 fish and 1 bag of chips as the portions are very generous. don't go down hill like many do!! and pretty good value for money. Only thing is the staff are sometimes very ignorant, the managers I think do not treat the staff very well and its always busy they very rarely stop, but there always seems to be tension, but best fish and chips ever

Amazing fresh fish and chips - and lots of them. Mixed kebab is great value for 2 to share and lovely staff. Always busy but worth the wait. Only thing that stopped this being 5 stars was the curry sauce a bit of a let down.

It was a choice because we had not tried before but once tried twice shy. That stated others seem to like this. Maybe it just reflects average takeaways in this area. However, i would not order again quickly.

We ordered a takeaway for 6 people. It arrived fairly quickly but there was a cheese patty missing. We called up to let them know and we were told it was in the bag (which it wasn't) after a short conversation about its location they agreed to send another one out. The food was very good just a shame it wasn't all there first time, but they did sort the problem out so all good.

This chippy has a good selection of food to purchase.The fish and chips are always good,hence the queues that are normally at this shop.I have used it many times and i would certainly recommend it.

Since refurbishment the place looks fantastic. Food-wise, fish amd chips are really good. The portions for these are huge but lovely and tasty. Havent had a pizza from here as yet but will have to give them a try. The chicken keebab is really nice too. Friendly staff and very efficient.

One time I got curry and chips, loved it. Another time I asked for chicken burger, plain with salad, they added chilli sauce in it although I wanted NO sauce? Needless to say, ruined the burger. Then I decided another try won't kill, so I had chicken tikka in a wrap, it was amazing again!Guess it depends on your luck? Or how they feel that day..Lady at counter always nice though!

Really can't work out how this place can charge £2 for chips. You get award winning chips for cheaper at colemans in shields. The quantity of the food has lacked since the take over. One kebab used to do my wife me and my kids. Now you get it in a little box and it barely coveres me. Give me the old Paul's chippy back any day

This chippy serves the nicest fish in Jarrow. Absolutely gorgeous! The other dishes on the menu are lovely too. Very reasonable and spotless clean! Well worth a visit!
