Undercooked garlic bread base, so much we couldn’t eat it. We also ordered a tub of chilli and got garlic. Only just started to order from here but definitely won’t be again after tonight’s food quality

Much easier than ordering in store, having to wait ages for what ever you want to be cooked….. very nice indeed.

20p for a bag that a will never use again and the food didn't really need to put in and your mixed kebab is a little over priced for what you get was more kebab meat than chicken

Ordered food for 8:45 while out. Got home for 8 and the delivery driver was outside my house and ringing me. Don't have a website with specific times of the cooks won't stick to it!!! What are the chances the food wasn't going to be under a heat lamp for an hour!?

Been going here for at least ten years, prices are always comparable with other local shops. If you take into account the size of the portions it’s very good. The Girls are always happy and willing to pass the time of day if you have to wait for your food. Even though I sometimes only have a bag of chips the good service is the same! The chips are always well cooked and the fish ditto.

Order my food off uber eats and the food was dry over cooked and tasteless I had chicken burger and the mozzarella sticks should of ordered a pot of oil that's all I could taste honestly never again first and the last time sort ya self out honestly horrible food

Ordered a lovely chicken kiev pizza however found probably at 14 inch long black hair in the second slice and it put me competely off the whole lot. Waste of £13.00

AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!!Ordered at 6:30 pm and my order didn't come been on the phone a few times and was told that my home delivery was next in line rang back at half 8 and they ignored the call then answered and said we are still waiting on driver at 8:15 so I asked if they could just walk because I lived very close by and was told no so known my food would be cold I cancelled and I will now avoid at all costs this isn't the first time the food has been served cold because they turn off the pans kabab is supposed to be HOT along with the chips before anyone trys to come for me you wouldn't want to eat food that was wrapped nearly 2Fucking hours ago !

Ordered 2 fish and chips and a curry sauce. I asked for the fish to be fresh, which isn't a big ask. The lady put 1 fresh fish in a decided to re-fry the second fish. I asked for a refund as this is a food safety risk. I get home, and it becomes apparent that the fish is the double dipped one and is soaked with concrete batter and oil. Chips are also freezing. Not happy. *** update I'm now sat on the toilet with severe stomach cramps, never ever again !!!!

I went with a friend. Fish & chips cost £10. Expensive, right? Er no, I've never seen cod so big and we were given a hundred weight of chips. The two of us absolutely stuffed ourselves for that tenner. The quality was very good. Also does pizzas, kebabs, burgers, etc.

Polite, friendly, fast, professional service, with a reasonably priced and varied menu. We have visited this place a number of times now and would highly recommend it, from our experience. The food is lovely, cooked too our likening, the fish batter is always crispy but not greasy like many fish and chip takeaways. Chips are chunky, golden and crispy. Kebab meat is spicy and always a pleasure to eat. Portions are excellent, Fresh and cooked to order. What more could you wish for ???? We recommend and will use again. Thank you.

Normally alright from here but today I ordered a 10inch bolognese pizza for my partner for collection, when I've got it home it had mushrooms on it which he is allergic to, he was gutted, whole thing went to waste, absolute waste of money, as I say normally alright here too. Disappointed.

They used to deliver to us. It must be a mile away. When I phoned they said we shouldn't have delivered to you last time!!!! Delivery won't deliver a mile away. This used to be a good takeaway, but it was taken over.poor staff have to put up with it. Won't be back

Most disgusting takeaway I’ve ever had. Ordered a BBQ pizza and it arrived with green peppers, red onions and hardly any BBQ sauce on. I am extremely disappointed. The staff were rude and the service was unacceptable. The shop is completely overpriced and the food quality is not worth the money at all. Never going back to the Boldon Fish Bar. Would never recommend to anyone.

Fish is like eating rubber,,,, Kebab meat just awful,,, if they run out of salad, you just get Kabab meat in a pitta bread with onions and very little else ! but still charged the same price for a full loaded Kebab. However the Pizza from here are very good. So not a good traditional English fish and chip shop or Kebab house but a pretty good place for Pizza.

Went in for 2 X cod and chips and sauces. Very dissapointed. Chips cold , old potatoes and plenty of black eyes. Was told to wait for fish. Got it home , swimming in grease. Been regulars here for a few years now. Won't be returning.

used to be a top fish and chips...just put tonights in the bin, fish was grey with funny taste and chips looked warmed up...until tonight was top notch .....give it another chance tonight...was good when it got took over again but tonight asked for extra crispy fish as i like to eat the batter ..got soggy goey batter and burnt chips...never again. pauls fish bar hebburn that's tha place to go.

It’s normally lovely... but ordered tonight pizza and chips... pizza went in the bin due to it being half raw when we opened it and sooo soggy and wet that even 20 minutes in the oven couldn’t save it! Could ring it out and it was so wet with grease it wouldn’t even cook in our oven at home... tried to contact through website, but there’s no option for that also no Facebook page to contact... the free chips it came with were fine however! Gutted Cos the Same pizza is normally quite nice when we have ordered it before... but as I say it was barely even cooked tonight. Absolutely vile it was.

Since it's changed hands it is no where near as good, stopped given you free pea. Curry sauce ETC with fish and chips quality of food bad was there on the 16/03/20 the chips where hard as if they where warm ups fish was soggy will not be going back

Was told it would have to go in their pots which would be charged for a full portion when it would already have been included if it had been poured on the kebab. So for their greed and lack of understanding/customer satisfaction we decided not to bother and got one elsewhere where this was not a problem and they also gave us a chilli dip and a garlic one too! We weren't penny pinching but it's a matter of principal and owners lost £6.40 sale for the sake of their greed!!!!

First time trying this chippy - had fish and chips delivered. Prices ridiculous, portions far too small and fish dry. I don’t mind paying for decent food but not when it’s inedible. Not a patch on the other owners.

Often call for kebab meat and salad . All served in a tray , no bread so pretty healthy meal . Always nice and fresh with a choice of hot or cold chilli sauce , I’ve never known this before so opted for the hot , hot as in temperature . Very nice and very tasty

Absolutly disgusting. Got a kebab chipbutty and the chips are all scabs, meat is cut to thick and tastes rank. My son got chips and ate 2 the rest went in the bin. My advice is avoid and save your money. Owner should close the doors and hang his/her head in shame serving the public such cheap nasty food at top prices.

New management have ruined what was the best chippy for miles. Prices have gone up and the portions are about half of what they were. The kebab meat is now worse than some of the frozen stuff I've tasted. Wouldn't have gone anywhere else previously, now I'll never go back. Awful, such a shame.

The prices are good, the deal of pizza and chips is plentiful, but the pizza itself tasted bland and the dough was slightly underbaked.

Updating review from below from 6 months ago - seems like more new owners & more changes (for the worse)! Portion size much reduced, quality seems poorer & the mushy peas/curry sauce no longer free - I guess the new owners (who seem to run a few places) are running it into the ground to increase £££. There used to be queues outside waiting for it to open, now it’s usually empty - customers voting with their feet ! My original review from 2018 : Was worried after the reviews re change of management and price increases / portion reduction so went in tonight and all seemed as usual. Huge cod (about 15” long), 3 big scoops of chips and free peas/curry sauce for £7.40 in total - the portion was so big it managed to fill 2 of us. Maybe complaints re size/price made them go back to the old ways (as the queues were back too) - if so , happy days !

The fish and chips from here is always good but the only thing that lets this shop down is every single time you want fish theres never any ready no matter what time or day u go in so u have 2 wait while a queue builds up behind you

One best chippys ive ever been to. From living in the midlands to having to see family in the north east to be able to have a good kebab is what we look foward to. The north east for kebabs are like birmingham for currys. Ive found out shop was taken over but i can only say thay have carried on with the good servive good food and the best kebab. My god i look forward to your chilli sause like i do a savaloy dip.keep up good work.

Ordered pizza at 7.50pm was still waiting at 8.15pm .... good job manager came in & heard the sly digs the woman serving was making .... staying she'd have to "clock time i came in next time" .... only live 5 mins away & could have stretched the dough of pizza over the road .... heavy .... stodgy .... should have taken it straight back but i could not bear to put up with her sarky comments

Used to be the best kebab and chilli in the area but since the new owners ha e taken over the kebab is now awful.

I used to drive four miles from my home to use this chippy and have done for many years but since the shop changed hands it’s now very disappointing,portion sizes have quartered the donnor meat has changed to a cheaper version and so has the chilli,absolutely gutted to be honest,I’m afraid I will not be going back anytime soon.. I wish I knew where the old owner opened his new shop

Ever since the golden chippy in boldon has been taken over, the service has been poor. The women who served me at dinner time was the most miserable, ignorant, woman I’ve ever met in my life. All I ordered was a bag of chips and garlic sauce, I was with my little dog and it’s not as if he was all over the shop, he popped his head in whilst I quickly payed. And also, ever since the golden chippy has been taken over, the portion size has dropped. £2 for chips!! Before they used to be £1.80 and the bag would feed the full house whereas now, I payed £2 and there was just enough for me alone!! Never again will I be visiting this chip shop knowing that the staff are border line miserable and to be honest rude.

Went here for over ten year best chippy and kebab and chilli... last week i went and new owners have it i new straight away so rang up and asked why they had changed everything.. abs disgusting changed everything even the meat and chilli and garlic and even the chip oil 😒 gutted

I have used this chippy for a number of years and never been disappointed. There is a large menu and the portions are very generous indeed.

Worst kebab ever. Been going to this place for a number of years but it has really gone downhill. The kebab meat was cold and burned and the girl who served me had her hands actually inside the container scooping the garlic source out with another container. Not hygienic at all.

Used this chip shop since being a kid but now the dad's not there the chip shop is going down hill fast and not good food scraps of chips potions smaller and prices going up. Such a shame

Been going here for years and laygate before. Last few times now have been so disappointing. Today chips all small bits, portions small and tasted quite stale, despite an increase in price. Think someone needs to take control again. Not sure we will try again in a hurry even though my daughter from Manchester loves to puck up a kebab every visit home. Just hope they can turn it round.

We came across this fish and chip shop by chance on our way to the cinema and what a find!

The best chippy in the area, with beautiful fresh fish that is huge.

The only chip shop I go to and been going for the last decade.

Been going for 20 years and always been great with huge portions but the last three times it was horrendous. The chips were dry as sticks and the batter on the fishcakes and sausages were like rubber. Think we might try somewhere else next time.
