Paul Rhodes Bakery in Greenwich

Was delighted to see some bakery items with rhubarb in April. The rhubarb danish pastry was divine, great quality. So many great options to try here and some unique, was very impressed. Service was good and prices about what you expect to pay for the artisan types of bakery. Definitely recommend for breakfast or lunch in Greenwich.

Yesterday we finished our visit to Greenwich by visiting this artisan bakery and purchasing a wonderful bread and 2 delicious cinnamon buns. They had so many delicious-looking items on display, it was quite hard making up our minds which ones to buy! A perfect end to a lovely day

This place is AMAZING!!! Came in for coffee and a pastry and ended trying lots of lovely treats! Absolutely loved it, Lara and Georgia were so kind and friendly and made us feel very welcome!! We’ll definitely be back :)

Excellent bakery with a range of top quality and unusual speciality breads and pastries. A great place to go if you enjoy something of interest rather than the standard fayre. This is my preferred bakery in Greenwich and I regularly buy their bread. Try their Seeded Porridge Sour - sounds weird but is deliciously seedy. They also offer consistently good coffee (not always the case with other places in my experience). P.R are popular so often busy but the staff are always personable and professional. Recommended, especially if you like to support an independent rather than chain.

We stopped in here for a quick takeaway lunch. I had a croissant with cheese and mushrooms. It was really tasty.

I didn't expect a bakery to not have any bread rolls, they had plenty of bread and cakes, perhaps rolls don't generate enough money. The bread is nice but the prices are astronomical.

For an excellent espresso and pastry, this is your spot! We wanted to take a small break after seeing the Greenwich Observatory and found this place. The espresso was perfectly dialed in and superb is an understatement. The pastries are plentiful and difficult to choose one, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you pick anyone you’ll be more than satisfied. Wonderful place that we found by happenstance.

I've ordered quite a few times from this bakery via Deliveroo — a really good variety of fresh bread and pastries of all sorts — Villages sourdough bread and walnut coffee cake are excellent and my favourites. When I had an issue with my order — their friendly team reached out promptly and did their best to help, which is always appreciated.

I've always favored going to Paul Rhodes as an independent over the nearby chain Gails, but my last couple of visits have been underwhelming to say the least. Not only is it chaos inside, with no real clear system of where to order/collect and people picking up each other's orders, but the food has been disappointing too. Deciding to give it one more try I bought 2 croissants and 2 coffees yesterday that were the worst yet and almost inedible. Despite paying for large coffees, the cups were filled less than halfway and tasted of just warm milk. The croissants must have been at least 2 days old - stale and chewy. When you bit into them they left a perfect bite mark. It's such a shame, because this used to be a real favourite but their high standards seem to have really fallen of late. I will go elsewhere next time.

I bought a piece of cake to take away- I found a piece of gravel/stone in it. This was inside the cake. Not some random accident on my part. Also, it was sizeable enough to potentially cause some damage.

Was staying in the area and had wanted a coffee, so visited daily lovely coffee and danish , had different ones each day . Also brought some jam and marmalade which I’m looking forward to eat .

Very underwhelming... solo visit to the bakery. As expected, bit of a queue and pretty manic inside. No real order or organisation when taking orders. (Can't comment on the drinks as did not order any) Onto the food : chicken leek mushroom pie. Where was the chicken? Not a single piece. The contents seemed like an eggy mixture, I was expecting more a runny mixture , so it was incredibly dry when eating. Mushrooms were probably the best part , all 3 of them! Apart from that it was bland. Next up the cinnamon bun. I don't know how you can get it this wrong. It was as firm as anything. As if its been there to dry out over a couple of days. No real cinnamon flavour coming through just really dense pastry. Looks like another incident of style over quality. Looks good, but taste was so dissapointing. I wanted to like it, but after 2 bites it went in the bin. I don't know if this was a bad baking day, but I think this was the worst bakery experience I've had. Better value for money & taste at Pret A Manger just down the road

We had a brioche sandwich which was good. We also had a pink raspberry type cake which felt very greasy and fatty. We had a chocolate caramel tart with a base that was borderline raw. And we had marble cake which was tasteless. Their rosemary wild garlic bread was very good: so- I’d stick to their breads and not their sweets....

Just tried the village sour loaf, absolutely delicious. I’ve been recently trying artisan bread and this is the best I’ve had so far. We were also astounded at how much choice there was of pastries and cakes. Only got 2! Will come back.

We had a takeaway around lunchtime and we were very happy with it The staff was lovely and the food was great! Coffe could have been a big better, but in general is totally worth it! They do have skimmed milk In the picture you can see the chocolate and pistachio babka!

I went for a beautiful walk in Greenwich park a friend recommended this bakery to me . I ordered a oat milk mocha coffee ☕️ it was delicious. I also ordered a brownie to take out it was scrumptious. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Greenwich village .
