Patty & Bun in Southwark

After a lovely walk around borough market we headed over to Patty & Bun after hearing great reviews about the food. What a shame we have no such review to pass on. I’m currently heavily pregnant so upon being seated I asked the waitress for a drink which she seemed very put out by, maybe because I asked her before she was ready to take my order I’m not sure. The same waitress then proceeded to slam my drink and glass down on the table which made everyone at the next table look and made the people at my table very uncomfortable. I asked another waiter for a clean glass and was told the they are just water marks because the dishwasher doesn’t have enough salts. Following this it was just an extremely hostile experience, we paid the bill minus service charge and left. Unfortunately can’t say much for the burger I had but I’m not sure if that was tarnished by the experience.

We were given a warm welcome by Jay and the other staff (we had booked by telephone to be sure of getting a table) and had a cocktail while deciding what to eat. We ordered and the food arrived promptly; it was excellent and all five of our party enjoyed the burgers or wings they had chosen. We were not put under any pressure to hurry or release our table and we enjoyed our food and the ambience of the restaurant - which looks small from the outside, but has both street level and basement seating. Informal setting but with excellent food and atmosphere.

Quick bite before going to watch football place was quite busy for a Tuesday evening, both ordered burgers and chips one beer one Coke, the burgers were nice although we did ask one medium and one well done both were medium the rosemary chips not so some to hard to eat, good overall ok but a bit steep costing over £55

It was an overall above average meal. Average taste of chicken burger & the pink lemonade, and the chips were great. Service was fair for a busy dinner, the drink was served in quick while I was waiting for the food. The interior design looks kinda retro with neon red/orange lights on the wall, industrial grey & dark tone, some drawings on the wall.

Always lved these burgers since they opened in James Street London. Downside is that its ALWAYS busy! Despite the queue in the street service was faultless, staff work so hard. Burger was perfection as ever and worth the wait.

5. Such a warm welcome. Accommodated even though busy…which is a good sign….queue outside! The service wrapped up with the food is the best I have had and as good as the more formal restaurants we have been to. Convivial. The whole crew worked with a warm hospitable fun yet professional attitude. Let’s not forget the chefs. Best burger and fries for miles. But most of all the atmosphere was the icing on the cake. I was a big fan of Patty & Bun when they first opened on James Street many years ago, at the time it was miles ahead of the pack in my opinion. Over time they’ve expanded and with that there has been a decline or at least an inconsistency in quality, however I still rate them pretty highly. On a recent visit to their London Bridge location at noon on a Thursday I was one of just two customers in the place. I ordered the “Truffle Shuffle” monthly special which included beef shin, shallots and truffle mayo, a delicious sounding combo, and it was indeed a great burger, cooked medium rare as requested. In the last couple of months I’ve visited Bleecker, Five Guys and the massively hyped up Supernova. I’d still rank P&B at the top of this group…

Very enjoyable lunch. Aaron the manager was fantastic and looked after us extremely well, our team having an 'Away Day' in London. Stress free. Burgers great. All orders correct. Communication beforehand very good.

Great place to eat in London Bridge. Staff really friendly. The restaurant is really unique inside. Burgers, chips and wings were delicious. We got few cocktails too. We were there during lunch time the place was really busy during Friday Lunch but we were served really polite and Friendly by the two members working there yesterday. Music was great. Place was really clean.

Amazing burgers and the rosemary fries is a must. Lovely team, and great selection of plant based burgers. Cheese balls also great. Deffo will be back. xx

Bought a cheeseburger to take away! Was cooked fresh so I was surprised at how disappointing it was!! The bun was fresh but had no substance it just soaked up the (too much and too sweet sauces) the bread was soggy and horrible texture! The sauces were so overpowering I could not taste the meat at all! I peeled away all the stuff and just ate some of the patty but strangely it still tasted of nothing but the red sauce! It was so overworked it just tasted of condiments! Also meat tastes weird, what I can taste of it! A nicely seasoned patty with a blob of ketchup a slice of cheese and some onions would be perfect!!! Also entire slices of lettuce - sorry I won’t be buying again!! £12 in the bin!

I was visiting London to catch up with a friend. We had a fairly active morning leaving us feeling a little peckish! We had landed Borough High Street with a view to grabbing a dessert from the market however; as that was very busy we opted to grab some lunch. We saw Patty&Bun and thought we give it ago! I am so glad we did. The hospitality was great, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was outstanding! I would like to mention Krystian. He talked us through the menu giving giving his personal recommendations which were honest and genuine. It’s not often you meet a person like this who is all about the experience rather than the bottom line. I’m not a huger person for leaving tips but here I did! If you’re in the are I can’t recommend this place enough! Amazing all round experience.

Amazing as usual, the experience is a great as the quality of the food, Elena and Caroline were the stars in the service, I’d deffo go back and I truly recommend it

Best burgers in town. The staff is phenomenal and the burgers are to die for. The chicken wings are also unbelievable. Do yourself a favour and go there now!

The burgers were amazing! You must try the plant based ones if you are not a big fan of meat. The restaurant is very nice and the staff was friendly.

I went with my family to eat close to London Bridge and some suggest to go to Patty and Bun where they have few Vegan options, Vegetarian Options and bigger options of beef burgers including lamb. The staff were really friendly. Good vibes and nice atmosphere.

My son ordered a take away burger but we ran out of time waiting as we had an appointment to get to. It was no issue, we arranged to pick the burger up an hour later and when we did it was made fresh and fries were thrown in as a goodwill gesture. Food was hot, tasty and there was plenty of it. Was looking forward to eating here but we had a terrible experience. They took our order promptly but 40 mins later still no food. We asked what was going on and they had forgotten to give our order to the kitchen! Ridiculous. The burger, when it came, was disgusting. To make up for it they didn’t charge us for the meal but it has to be 1 star doesn’t it- if they can’t even get the basics right. Won’t be returning.
