My goto steak house. I have had better steaks but for their price point they are consistently good.

A steakhouse with a taste of disappointment. It’s generally not clear on what basis they called themselves a steakhouse. A steak for £36 is much inferior in appearance and taste to a steak from Asda. The burger is easy to hug and cry, the fries are worse than in poppy seeds. The price/quality ratio is justified only by the location.

Food was delicious and very reasonably priced, we got the 2 course meal for £26 which was great for what we got. I had the steak frites and then the apple pie and both were so tasty. It was for my friends birthday and they gave her a dessert that I thought was a lovely touch. The location is great too.

A nice experience, very helpful staff despite not speaking English correctly, then the discovery of Matteo, an Italian waiter, was the icing on the cake, very knowledgeable and attentive. We ate meat, which I must say was truly excellent. Compliments!! I highly recommend it.

Had a nice afternoon here. A good burger and chips plus 2 x non alcohol prosecco but very expensive.

Todo fue espectacular, la comida muy rica, precios algo altos pero muy acordes con el tipo de establecimiento. Si bien, nuestra experiencia no fue redonda dado que al llegar nos atendió una camarera que nos trató con cierta desidia y desinterés (por lo visto no fuimos los únicos merecedores de tal trato), pero la cosa mejoró cuando nos cambiaron de camarera. Estar de turismo y hacerte sentir mal por tener problemas de comunicación con una lengua que no es tu nativa no es de recibo para un local que pretende ser top.

High quality food and service for a fair price. Great wines as well.

All the waiters are very friendly. Every few minutes they passed by the tables checking if everything was okay. When I went it was not very crowded. The waiter who served me was super friendly, he even spoke in Spanish. I ordered the two-course menu (£26) and a 3-course menu, the latter including dessert (£39) and the drinks are somewhat expensive (£4.25). I must highlight the quality of the food and the flavor, everything was delicious.

Decent enough meal. Ordered the cote de boeuf sharing steak and it was small for the price/advertised weight, but well cooked and tender. They also dropped my chips in the floor and it took a while to get replacements. Would go again in the hope it was better.

Very average food for a very high price. Wings oily and tasteless. Steak was basic and no flavour. Walnuts in the salad tasted stale. Cocktails and fries pretty good. Go flat Iron instead

The restaurant was very busy and is clearly popular. We asked whether a sharing platter would be enough between three and were advised not. The steak was cooked as instructed and the sides as expected. I don't think the food was exceptional.

The food here is very average. We started with chicken satay, which was tough and dry and served with a salad that was a bit past it's best . For a main I had salmon with new potatoes and french beans. It was ok, but very much the sort of thing you would cook at home; and probably wish you'd taken the veg out the pan a few minutes sooner. My partner had steak which was cooked well, but it hadn't been seasoned and was served on a cold plate which is never a good idea. We also got a plate with walnut salad. It was rather uninteresting. I just tried a walnut from it and again it didn''t taste very fresh. The star of the meal by a long way was a sticky toffee pudding which was light with just the right amount of sweetness. If every dish had been as good as this it'd be a very memorable meal. Unfortunately I ordered a rather dull sorbet served in an 80s style fluted glass with mismatched frozen fruits dropped on the top which I decided to avoid following the issue with the salad and nuts! I've added a photo of the drink I had, it looks like the Lime was prechopled some time ago as it is browned and discoloured around the edges. It fits with my concern about the potential lack of freshness of some of the ingredients.

Very lovely ambience. Was quite busy but didn't have to wait long to be seated. The waiters were very polite and friendly and covered any allergy requirements.

Positively the best meal we have had in a very long time. The starters were an excellent whetting of the appetite, steak was perfect, to die for and the ice cream sundae a wonderful end to a glorious meal. Staff were so polite and helpful, the ambiance relaxing yet very buoyant. Would 100% recommend this eating establishment. Might have to go again tomorrow hehehe!!!

After a long and tiring journey in cold weather, we finally arrived at the restaurant. My initial impression was positive. The restaurant was large, and for a moment, I felt a sense of excitement, it seemed posh and sophisticated, exactly what one would expect from a high-end London establishment. However, this excitement quickly faded once we were shown to our table. We were seated in a cramped corner that felt more suited for a quick-service café than a premium steakhouse. The table was small, the chairs were uncomfortable, and the entire setup screamed “eat quickly and leave” rather than inviting us to relax and enjoy a fine meal. It was disheartening, to say the least. The seating arrangement was another let-down. The tables were packed so closely together that there was little room to move or speak without fear of being overheard by the neighbouring diners. It didn’t feel private or comfortable. My son and I joked that perhaps having a drink or two might help us forget the lack of privacy and ease our discomfort. Looking at the menu, I was still hopeful that the food might make up for the subpar atmosphere. I left the decision-making to my son but couldn’t help dreaming of a perfectly cooked steak served by professional, attentive waitstaff. Unfortunately, reality hit hard when the drinks arrived. We had ordered diet cokes, which the waiter placed on the table with all the finesse of a fast-food worker at a busy counter. It wasn’t what I expected from a supposed high-end establishment. The starters didn’t fare much better. I must mention, We were served dry and hard pita slices accompanied by a few coloured pepper strips, which felt cheap and uninspired. I kept my focus on the main course, hoping the steak would be the saving grace of the meal. Before the main course, I decided to freshen up and visit the restroom. This, too, was a disappointment. The toilets were located upstairs, accessible either by stairs or a lift, and were housed in what felt like a temporary container structure. They were small, basic, and resembled something you’d find at a pop-up event or a boot sale. It was shocking for a restaurant of this stature to have such inadequate facilities. In my opinion, toilets should have been located downstairs with proper structures, especially if the upstairs was designated for seating. When the steaks finally arrived, my initial optimism resurfaced but only briefly. I had ordered my steak well-done, and to their credit, it was cooked as requested. However, my son had opted for medium-rare, and his steak arrived with a large chunk of uncooked fat hanging off it. It was unappetizing and could easily have put anyone off their meal. The steaks were served with fries and a basic salad. My son had also ordered cooked mushrooms, which he had read glowing reviews about. Sadly, they turned out to be a huge let-down. The fries were served in a basket-style container, but they were thin, overcooked, and dry. Worse still, many of the potato slices were broken, as if they’d simply emptied the fryer’s leftovers into the basket. Honestly, if my wife had gone into the kitchen one Sunday morning, grabbed some frozen chips, mushrooms, and a steak from the freezer, and cooked us a meal, it would have been far superior to what we were served at this restaurant. And it would have cost a fraction of the price, my son paid approximately £60 per person for this meal, excluding alcohol which we did not have any. Overall, the experience was a massive disappointment. The service, ambiance, and food all failed to live up to the expectations one would have for a London steakhouse. It was a sobering reminder that dining in London isn’t always a luxury to envy. While I’m sure there are exceptional restaurants in the city, this wasn’t one of them. I’m grateful to have had this experience, as it has taught me to lower my expectations when it comes to dining in big cities. If you’re planning a special occasion or looking for an outstanding meal, my advice would be to do thorough research and perhaps look beyond the popular names.

What a great place . It’s central London and you need a great lunch , very “meat” centric , at a very reasonable price … come to Black and Blue ! Four of us arrived for lunch and we were not disappointed . The burgers were huge and well cooked , the staff were friendly and attentive , and the price was very reasonable ! I’d definitely be back !

Had lunch there today. The food is very reasonably priced they also do a set menu. The meal seemed nice enough however, it could be a coincidence, but for the last few times I have eaten there over the last several months I have experienced an upset tummy shortly after finishing my meal, even though I have chosen different meals each time. I am local and noticed the same manager and staff have been there for quite some time.

We visited the restaurant and tried the double burger and steak. While the burger wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, the overall experience was enjoyable. The steak was well-prepared, and the atmosphere was inviting. What stood out the most was the excellent service – attentive, friendly, and efficient. It made our visit worthwhile. I’d recommend this place for its great ambiance and outstanding service.

Had a ribeye medium the first one I sent back as it was rare the 2nd one was medium rare count eat it. The pepper corn sauce was cold the English mustard had been left in the fridge a while in the portion pot and had started to form a skin. Wife had a burger was supposed to have been well done but you have a look at the photo and tell me what you think was it well done? Staff friendly but the food isn’t good the chef needs training on how to cook the steaks and burgers as the customer requests. Others also had issues with how their was cooked

For a pre concert meal we went for the Prix Fixe menu. Pate with toast and a redcurrant jelly for starters I then had the steak frite and my companion had the wild mushroom and goats cheese. For dessert I had the apple pie and custard and my companion had the sorbet. All in all the food was of fair quality for the price. To drink we had the Black and Blue nonalcoholic cocktails which were very nice and a final coffee. The staff were friendly enough without being overbearing. I would like to go again and sample their more expensive cuts of steak to see how they stack up to the regular sirloin I had.

steak was cooked to perfection for me. I like it well done and it was beautiful. prawn starter was gorgeous. and the ice cream sundae was delicious, was there with family on Wednesday for Christmas get together the atmosphere was lovely.

We were able to get a table relatively easy at weekdays evening without reservation. Food and Drinks were good, the Ambiente is interesting, but directly above the location the trains of the tube are riding and thereby it's kind of loud inside.

We have dined here twice in a weeks time. Both meals were excellent. It's probably the best restaurant we have eaten in our 2 weeks of visiting London .

He estado aquí varias veces a lo largo de los años y mi impresión es que cada vez es mejor. Un grupo de 8 de nosotros asistimos a un almuerzo tardío, sentados en una enorme mesa cubierta de mármol en una cabina. Incluso a las 4 de la tarde el lugar estaba zumbando. La comida era excelente en general, aunque el entrante de alitas de pollo podría haber hecho con un baño o más condimentos. La cuna de boeuf para 2 personas era excelente y gran relación calidad-precio también. Los otros platos de bistec también fueron bien recibidos, En cuanto al postre, el sorbete de naranja sanguinolenta estaba delicioso y el pudín de toffee pegajoso era el nivel justo de dulzor (en muchos restaurantes puede ser algo dulce enfermizo). El vino malbec fue un placer y tenía un precio muy razonable. El servicio era atento pero no dominante. La información de alérgenos estaba fácilmente disponible para todos los platos, lo que fue muy útil. En resumen, si usted quiere un restaurante sólido y de buena calidad para ir que es bastante razonable precio entonces este es un banquero.

Super meal. Great balance beween price and quality - so many places rip you off with really expensive steak that is rubbish quality. Our meal was excellent quality and great value. Unexpectedly surprised. Ambience was a tiny bit noisy as they were busy, but overally a very positive experience.

The food wasn't good and didn't taste like anything & even the fries weren't tasty, but they were dripping with fat and very expensive. The staff was nice and the food was delivered quickly, but it's still not worth a visit.

I give one star to everything because zero stars is not an option! I do a search for a steak restaurant and that one comes up... we arrive without booking but, even though there were places, the R Manager at the entrance dismisses us with: "The kitchen is full tonight" and it was 8.15pm!!! ! Maybe because we were Italian!!!! Too bad because I left several pounds elsewhere!!!!

Having enjoyed meals here a couple of times before , we popped in last Friday evening on our way to a gig We were amazed to see the Piix Fixe deal was still being offered as most restaurants don't offer lower priced meal deals at weekends My wife had a realy unusual and totally delicious Warm Artichoke , Cheese + Spinage starter with loads of nachos and I started with the Butterfly Prawns with sweet chillie dip , which was great My main was a very generous , tasty , Sausage + Mash whilst my wife's Steak Frites was a super tender steak with green beans that came as such a generous portion that we couldn't manage a desert , very unusual for us The staff were just delightful and altho the place was pretty busy they made the effort to check back with us a couple of times that all was well and did we need extra condements or more drinks Two very substantial and tasty courses for under Twenty Five Quid each meant that having ordered cocktails + sparkling water we left with a very reasonable bill of about £80 , which has to be the best value in Borough Market

Ribeye was ok but not amazing. Nice chips and great mushrooms. Feels pretty corporate though with no soul. Waiters were attentive if a bit unenthusiastic. I recommend Hawksmore if you want to spend just a little bit more for an amazing experience.

A good place to eat. I asked for a medium rare steak, and it was a little over....but not enough to complain about! The restaurant catered well for our group of eleven, and everyone had a thoroughly good time. The staff were great, so all in all a really good experience.

The food was competitively priced, and the meals were appropriately matched to that price point. Some of the desserts in the three-course menu might have been a bit lackluster, but they were still enjoyable. The staff were all nice. Ate here for the first time yesterday, very disappointing. Generic out of a bag starters followed by a tasteless fatty nasty cut of cote de beouf that wasn’t even cut. This is the first time I’ve ever had it where it wasn’t cut. Worst than this though was the ‘fries’ you get with the meal, they are literally McDonald’s fries but cooked worse. This is a great example how not to serve steak and show that nothing is made in house. I won’t be going back. In an area like Borough Market where the choice of places to eat is so good I’m surprised this place is still open.

Honestly just a bit of a weird experience. The venue was quite empty when we arrived whereas all the neighbouring restaurants were packed but it is a much bigger space. The food was fine, good portion sizes but not cheap. It was the service that was odd, we would be approached multiple times by different people and at points felt rushed. Our main waitress was a bit short with us when taking orders. The poor fellow behind us had to stop two different waitresses from clearing his girlfriend’s plate while she was in the loo. They were offering a lot of service but seemed to want people to hurry up. Considering that it wasn’t super busy and it was several hours before closing it just meant there were uncomfortable vibes unfortunately.

Googled steak places in borough market and this one came up. Couldn't complain about the prices, which were very reasonable along with the portion sizes. My steak was cooked to order. I was able to be seated and accommodated without any fuss and my drinks order was completed in a prompt fashion. Waiter uniforms were not matching and didn't understand wearing trainers because it was a nice restaurant and just felt put of sync with the decor..small but minor thing for me but didn't overly impinge on my whole enjoyment of what a nice meal and experience I had. Would highly recommend and would return again.

Absolutely amazing!! The food is great. We got grilled prawns as a starter and Cotê de Boeuf for main, so tender and juicy, loved it! The staff is great!!! So nice and friendly .. And also, the bartenders make the best cocktails ever!! You have to try it, if you go to borough market !!! Highly recommended

Delicious meal with friends. Really tasty field mushrooms with roast vegetables and goats cheese, calorie counter (bun-less) burger and sausage and mash. The meals are really good sized portions and great service.

Really friendly staff and delicious food. We were having a quiet reunion of 3 old friends and it was perfect! Will definitely be back! For central London was also a reasonable price given the quality. We had 3 courses, sparkling rose, and cocktails and it was 187 between us! We were fully satisfied!!

The waiter's attitude was very bad, it was very hot that day (because we are from Hong Kong, used to air conditioning) so I wanted to ask if there was a fan to borrow, but in the end, after she answered us, she went to laugh at us with her colleagues, she said it 4 times and it was really rude. I could understand the lip language and she told her colleagues that those Hong Kong people were funny and asked me if I had a fan. It didn't look like a big deal, but she was really big like this Politeness, simply discrimination! I hope Black Blue Restaurant can take this issue seriously!

Pretty and spacious restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The salad with avocado and cheese was good. I was not fond of the steak frites. It was a very small portion and had a bitter taste. The apple pie with custard was OK. The waitress clearly had some sort of passive aggressive tendancies toward me. I doubt I'd ever go back, but I'm sure there are many people who have a fine meal.

Second visit to the restaurant. Great atmosphere and excellent service. Food choices are excellent and good value. Great place to go for informal eating but equally feels like a treat. Will definitely go again. I mentioned on the booking it was my husband’s birthday and they sang happy birthday, really unexpected.

Great location if you are looking for something easy, but wouldn’t say it’s special. Food was pretty plain only got 2 prawns in the starter portion for the high price. The manager was very polite and helpful but unfortunately I would not recommend.

The security guy at the door was extremely rude and totally out of place. We almost left because his rude and patronising manners made us very uncomfortable. The restaurant should have a host in place instead of having this person scaring customers away. This was Friday 21.06.24 in the evening.

Best steak place we've been to in our 4-week vacation. Cool atmosphere, especially outside in the Borough. Service was impeccable.

Really enjoyable lunch. Ordered the ribeye steak with herb butter. Came out really nicely and tasted even better. Lovely setting being right in the heart of Borough making for a great location! Good value for money too. Will be back!

Beautiful restaurant with amazing food. I had the ribeye steak and my boyfriend had a burger and it was honestly the best food I have had. The waitresses and waiters were so lovely, especially Pearla who made our experience the best. 100% recommend this restaurant.

The server was really not a good match for the place. She had a very bad aptitude otherwise nice place to have a good time and food .

Very nice straightforward food in this restaurant. I had the minute steak and it was very nice, most of the others in the group had the same and agreed, one person had the burger too and said it was very nice. We also had a nice Albariño, so nice we ordered a couple more bottles. The price was also great, the steak was £22, I’d say a bargain for this part of London. Do visit, it’s very good.

Good restaurant on the banks of the Thames. Elegant, well decorated, comfortable and with different areas and environments in a very pleasant atmosphere. Both on its outdoor terrace and inside. Good menu of drinks, beers, wines, cocktails. Menu with starters, salads, meats and a menu with options of one, two and three courses. Desserts available. The treatment by the waiter Kevin was spectacular, accurate and friendly recommendations and he also helped us with English and Spanish.

Really dry and over cooked steak. The ribeye was very thin and dry. Chicken wings and chips were too deep friend and crispy. We weren’t offered more drinks and no one came to check how our food was. Soft drinks were warm and not from the fridge. I’d describe this as average pub food that is hugely over priced. The restaurant decor and atmosphere is nice, but that’s the only positive. Hugely disappointing, and I wish I’d seen the other negative reviews before I came here, as I won’t return.
