Pattard Restaurant in Torridge

This is one of the best meals I've ever had in a restaurant. Beautiful food. The portions aren't huge, but that's good if you would like more than one course. It isn't fast food or cheap but it's definitely worth eating there. I can't recommend it highly enough. The folk who run the restaurant were helpful and obliging to an elderly relative who was a little eccentric in their expectations.

Had a fantastic dinner at this hidden away restaurant. Beautiful barn conversion room. Food was top notch…scallops and tortellini starters and a perfectly cooked beef main course. Finished off with a delish orange and brandy tart. And service was great from start to finish - perfect balance of chilled atmosphere and real attention to detail. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Fabulous fine dining in a remote setting with very tasteful decor and excellent young pair of chefs running the place. This is a fabulous restaurant run by a very talented couple who have a passion for sourcing, cooking and serving local food with complimentary presentation. The menu was imaginative, varied and catered for vegetarians - it really was a special treat. If you enjoy good food, cooked well then don’t hesitate in booking a table.

SOME GOOD & SOME REALLY BAD: Food was of a really high standard and very well presented. However, the restaurant was REALLY COLD and drafty, the fire wasn’t working properly so couldn’t be lit. It was so uncomfortably cold it spoiled the whole evening. They could have moved us to a different table which may have helped avoid the draft, but it still would have been too cold. The crab ravioli starter was really disappointing, it tasted fine but one piece for £14 is ridiculously overpriced. There was no bread available, don’t know why? The main courses were all excellent and so were the deserts. They did give us some complimentary leftover wine to apologise for the issues which was appreciated. However, for a relatively expensive experience it was very disappointing. We won’t be in a rush to return.

We had a fabulous evening meal at Pattard. The food was absolutely incredible! The presentation was perfect for sharing which was fab, as both the beef and duck were yummy! Fabulous service, beautiful restaurant, would happily give 10 stars.

This was our second visit to this out of the way, fine dining, resturant. We were originally recommended it by friends. We do eat out often, not regularly fine dinning though. About twice a year, finances allowing. The restaurant has exceptional wines apparently, I dont drink alcohol so cant really comment on the wines. The previous visit, the food had been exceptionally good, so we were excited to visit for a special Valentine's 6 course tasting menu, with a few added surprises, along the way..... On arrival we noted that they had crisp white tablecloths, this made an obvious improvement to the look, previous visit had no tablecloths. The table had a lovely wrapped red rose on it, beautifully presented menu, but the candle not lit. The food was beautifully presented, as it was previously, and for the main part absolutely delicious. The exception for me, was the duck. I appreciate that chefs like to serve duck rare, but this was so rare that I found it almost gelatinous. I did try to eat it, but eventually gave it to hubby. He did eat it (he will eat anything) but even he did commented on its texture..... I do realise that, that is our opinion, and alI subject to personal tastes. ( I do believe one customer requested something to be cooked a little more, but I'm not sure if it was the duck). We were a little dissappinted with the advertised 'little surprises, along the way' The only thing served, not on the menu, was a pallet cleansing Blackberry sorbet. It was delightful, but was the only surprise.......lastly, I would add that perhaps some of the tableware should be reviewed. Some plates seem to have a textured surface, which produces a terrible scraping sound, quite off putting. Minor criticisms, I know..... The restaurant has only been open since July 2023, and it is a very young couple cooking. The kitchen is open, so you can see them at work. They use locally sourced produce, which is a lovely concept. The service is really excellent too . Worth a visit for the experience of fine dinning, and if you like your wines, although, It is an expensive experience. I wish them every success, I'm sure that they will do brilliantly.

A rather austere barn of a room, probably because we visited on an out of season Thursday early evening and were the sole diners. Personable young owners - he an attentive but not obsequious front of house, and his partner an unsung genius in the kitchen. The food was beautifully cooked and presented; I've literally, in the truest sense of the word, had no better at top Michelin starred restaurants at triple or quadruple the price. Although it's certainly not cheap, the value for money cannot be underestimated; in the region of £90 for two courses for two people, including two large glasses of excellent wine. Difficult to locate, and the signage was confusing - at least to this septuagenarian - but definitely worth the effort. I cannot recommend this establishment too highly.

Family and I visited this wonderful restaurant as recommendation from our hosts while visiting over the festive period. Pattard is a beautifully styled restaurant focussed on local, seasonal produce and the execution of their food is of the highest standard. I tip my hat to the couple that run the restaurant… great front of house, exceptional cooking.. had the crab ravioli followed by the rump of beef..and was some of the best food I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating… the family had a truly wonderful evening. If you are ever in the Hartland Peninsula.. you absolutely MUST visit Pattard!

Pattards is what I would call a high end restaurant in the most unexpected of places. Although just outside of the small town of Hartland, the narrow lanes leading there make it feel otherworldly. The food really was fantastic. It was hard to choose what to have from the seasonal menu as each item sounded so good. We went for pork and duck as our mains and both were delicious. The desserts were also mouthwatering. We really wish the talented and friendly couple running Pattards every success. They deserve it.

Visited for Sunday lunch so had the chance to appreciate the fabulous roasts on offer. This restaurant really is tucked away out of sight, but most certainly not out of mind. Run by a young couple the atmosphere is friendly and informal and the food is simply excellent. The only downside for us was that the restaurant is not dog-friendly. I am sure that they would be friendly to dogs.... but they have decided not to admit them. A shame - but our fault for not having checked beforehand.

This restaurant is out of this world, just recently taken over by a young couple, we heard about this place and can say anyone who visits won’t be disappointed. The food was unbelievably amazing, I had a steak which was cooked to perfection and the pudding was to die for, the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and a great example of really fine dining at a reasonable price. Looking forward to a return visit when down that way again.

Best Sunday lunch we have had for a long time so we booked for an evening meal later in the week. Exceeded expectations, well cooked, excellent presentation, it also tasted delicious. Well worth a visit

We decided to visit The Pattard as we were staying close by on a short break holiday and wanted to find somewhere for a Sunday lunch. Well, what a discovery. The Pattard has now overtaken The Moody Cow in Herefordshire as the best Sunday lunch we have ever had (away from home of course). The mains where substantial and extremely well cooked and presented. The Cobbler dessert equally delicious. What was a total surprise due to the quality of the food and service was that the small restaurant was being run by a young couple who had only taken it on a few weeks earlier. Bear this in mind when you see any reviews that are less than 5*, it obviously wasn’t them. Finally, although it shouldn’t be the be and end all if the food is good, was the value for money. You will be pretty hard pressed to find better food for their current prices £25 for two courses £29 for three. Think of that as £4 for a stunning cobbler dessert..amazing. So, you should definitely visit The Pattard a) for the food and b) to help a young couple brave enough to take the leap to provide that food.

Absolutely blow away!!!!! For a little restaurant in the middle of no way I can honestly say it’s the best food I’ve ever eaten. Top quality service and ran but the most fantastic young couple. The choice of wines (local) was amazing. They are both so knowledgeable and where able to tell me everything and anything I wanted to know. I had scotched egg to start which could have been a main meal. Followed by the most flavour-sum chicken I’ve ever eaten (really enjoyed the croquette that it was served with). I was at this point full but wasn’t leaving without trying their home made sorbet, which was out of this world! 5* and just wished I lived closer as would make this a monthly date night that’s for sure.
