Patisserie Valerie - Centre:MK in Milton Keynes

Blimey, where do I even start? We recently went here for breakfast, as they’d finally brought back their full English breakfasts. We used to love coming here for breakfast, but it’s truly gone down hill in recent years. Which is such a massive shame. The server was rude and abrupt, and honestly looked like she’d rather be anywhere else than there (which, to be honest… I’d of been the same) The app was broken, so couldn’t order online - which wasn’t great as they’re severely understaffed. After ordering we waited nearly 25 for our coffee, which was basically just warm milk. Food, well we wondered where our food was for a while, despite the constant dinging of the service bell from the kitchen for over 7 minutes, which everyone could hear apart from the servers. We could clearly see our food getting colder by the minute. Our food arrived stone cold, slimed potatoes , rubbery eggs. In the end we sent back our food and quickly got out of there. Can’t forget the great ambient music played by a workers phone, which probably wasn’t very family friendly or radio edits. Honestly, they had no organisation, sugar from bowls with table spoons that was passed around from table to table, no clear management making sure things were done. I did wonder what was so fascinating in the customer toilets, cause most employees went in there 3/4 times during the 45 minutes we were there. Definitely will not be returning. Thank goodness.

A really happy and relaxed experience. My husband and I had their Afternoon Tea For Two superbly crafted homemade tasty selection of sandwiches, scones and melt in your mouth cakes presented to us in style on a carousel of two plate tiers. From a wide selection of hot and cold drinks we could have as many as we wanted at no extra charge. The decor was bright, inviting and the ambience of the restaurant was serenely calm but humming situated as part of their amazing Milton Keynes shopping centre. Well done to all staff involved and for their prompt, friendly service we received with special thanks to Lexa who expertly served us the most. May your restaurant continue to successfully thrive.

Got turned away 45 mins before closing when all that we wanted was coffee. Reason - understaffed. Yet the place was pretty much empty at this point and it’s not hard to make 4 cups of coffee. Oh and I was there with three 80 year olds, who made the effort to walk over there for a cup of coffee but got unceremoniously turned away. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! Won’t be attempting to visit again, thanks.

A niece bought us a gift of a brunch for two with a hot drink. Our nearest Patisserie Valerie was Wimbledon, so we went there. What followed wasn't by any stretch of the imagination horrible. But at the same time, it wasn't exactly thrilling either. On a positive note, the branch was clean and well lit, and the area we sat in was comfortable and spacious, and the service was prompt and polite. On the negative side, the brunch selection was a lot more limited than the brunch menu on their website. There really wasn't much to choose from at all. There were four of us in all, and between us we chose three one skillet breakfasts, and the pancakes with blueberries, and two teas, a berry tea and a coffee. While we weren't expecting a fine dining experience, after all, this wasn't The Savoy Grill, or tea at The Ritz, we were, perhaps, hoping for something a little more interesting than we got. The food was hot, and principly, there was nothing unpleasant about it, but it was just very ordinary. Nothing special at all. Just OK, Functional, might be a good word to describe it, at best. We occasionally went to the branch in Kingston Upon Thames, that closed down a while ago, and eating there was a much nicer experience, selection wise. Larger, better choice, nicer, more interesting food, and I suppose, we just expected the same at the Wimbledon branch. Sadly it wasn't. Our experience wasn't by any means bad enough for us to advise people to avoid the place. But it was un special enough for us to not particularly want to go again. I'd rate it 5 out of 10.

I decided to give Patisserie Valerie another try after the menu change , and I was not impressed at all . I will not be returning , I would much rather go and eat at McDonald’s !

Very enjoyable afternoon tea here in MK. I had previously been to the High Wycombe store where we had an utterly awful experience of afternoon tea but the experience we had today couldn’t have been more different! Anthony & Lexi looked after us and we had a delightful tea! My favourite had to be the egg rolls delicately made with mini brioche buns! Thank you for a lovely lovely finish to our shopping trip

Staff were too busy to clear tables, so despite there being a lot of unused tables they were all still waiting to be cleared When we were seated we watched the lady behind the counter hide behind the coffee machine so no one would see her cough, wiping her eyes which were streaming and touching her hair. She was clearly unwell, wasn’t washing her hands and coughing over the cups, so unsurprisingly we chose to leave. The place needs a hygiene inspection and someone needs to have a word with the manager!!

What a disappointment, food was so unappetising and the menu very limited and was not cheap. It took the drinks of coffee and a coke over 25 minutes. The food arrived shortly afterwards. Staff were not friendly and had people waiting to be seated, while there were open tables. Used to be a great place to go.

This place used to be a nice place to visit. It had nice food maybe a bit pricey but it was enjoyable with lovely staff. Now it's pulled alot of the favourites off the menu . Now also they have removed the table service . I waited 25 minutes for my drink so I had to eat my meal without having a drink. Whilst I was waiting to be seated 8 people left because of the waiting time. That's a family of 4 and 2 couples.

What a let down. We have loved going here for years. We went for breakfast. Waited to be seated at the door. Someone came, gave us menus and said find a table (They used to show you to your table) then they said when your ready to order go to the counter (Where's the table service gone) We looked at the menu and they no longer had their lovely cooked breakfasts on there, in fact it was just Brunch which was a very restricted menu. Definitely gone downhill. We just left and went elsewhere. We won't bother going here again. No customer service anymore.

No omelettes. I was going to order breakfast but that has changed. Waited at least five minutes to be shown a table and then waited another ten minutes and no-one came to take my order. Walked out and went elsewhere. Will not be returning.

Purposely traveled to this store in MK to get some patisserie’s for this evening only to find that they were stale. What a waste of time and money. Not only have the costs gone up but the portions seemed to have shrunk. This I can get over, however the stale patisserie’s not a chance. I shall be returning to complain. The staff don’t seem to care looking at the dirty tables and filthy windows. It will not be long before they completely disappear as a name on our high street.

Never been before and would never go again, overpriced food and drinks. Staff were extremely slow, waited over 20 mins to be asked what we’d like to order and then waited another 20 minutes to get our drinks. Glasses and cutlery were wet and worn out and the food was cold on the edges and had limp/rotting salad leaves on the side. After finding out their hygiene rating is currently 3! We sat wishing we’d popped to KfC next door!

redeemed a gift voucher for afternoon tea for two on 21st Nov at 11:45. The cafe was heaving but we were looked after brilliantly. Afternoon tea was gorgeous.

Went to Pattiserie Valerie in Milton Keynes for Afternoon Tea around 5pm on a Saturday. Used a voucher I'd been given and took my daughter before we went to the Theatre. The service was good, food was fresh and tea was piping hot. We were the last in there and the staff were courteous and considerate at all times. We enjoyed our Afternoon Tea thank you

Terrible new menu..no bacon or beans was served on the breakfast menu..will not be going back after all these years going there

Met up with a friend for lunch. Was given a table and menus and then abandoned! Had to chase a server to get food ordered, There is a scan and pay code on the table but I do not use them and wanted a human being. Food was good when it arrived, but 1st choice was not available. No dec tea or coffee, ended up with a small tepid hot chocolate. No follow up and had to go to the tills to pay. Wont be going back.

Absolutely dreadful, this has to be the worst restaurant i have ever been to the food was not cooked all the way through so it was still cold the management is absolutely diabolical they have no idea how to run a business they are all over the place they treat their employees like they are ghosts they are shouting at the employees every minute of their shift i used to love coming to patisserie valerie but every since this new management has come into place it has been ran into the ground and is absolutely disgusting.

Been coming here for years and I’m so devastated for this company. I have never experienced any restaurant, so understaffed and dirty. I came in around 2:30 so it was not too busy greeted by a clearly overworked gentlemen to be sat on a low table with crumbs over the floor. We ordered after waiting 15+ minutes, the slices were okay, slightly hard but still edible. The server, in a white shirt with glasses, was extremely hostile and made the atmosphere of the restaurant very uncomfortable. Drinks were 100% not worth £3.85 we had a Luke warm mocha and an oat latte which was like water. Overall very disappointing, they clearly need more staff with higher levels of training.

"Please wait her to be seated." I sue a walking stick. Waited for ages while staff flitted past not making eye contact. Our order was taken and repeated back to us, with two things mixed up. When the order came there was an error. Incidentally the cutlery is of the cheapest possible manufacture -- look at how thin the knife handles are. Before the scandal PV was so good, but not now.

How very disappointing Patisserie Valerie now is. Poor decor; indifferent and slow service and the fruit scone an inedible rock. A waste of money spent on a thoughtful gift. MK had one of the best but once it moved, charm, service and quality certainly deteriorated. Won’t go again.

We had a voucher for afternoon tea and after reading the previous reviews I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised, we only waited a couple of minutes to be seated, our orders for our drinks were taken and came really quickly, coffee was hot and very nice. The afternoon tea was lovely, 3 sandwiches each, 2 scones which looked a little overdone but were warm and very nice, came with raspberry jam and clotted cream, then we had 2 cakes each and a profiterole. Also the lady that served us was lovely

This place is so run down now. The service is terrible, left stood at the door for ages without any acknowledgement while staff walked past us. It took absolutely ages to get our food too. They were lazy and sloppy with it too - giving us a baby mug to pour milk into tea which inevitably poured everywhere, instead of a normal jug (that they do have). There was lots of food waiting at the kitchen that they took ages to give out, for no good reason either as it wasn’t that busy.

I took my Step Mum here for an afternoon tea and wished I hadn't. The store looks grotty, run down and only have the seating area was being used. We were sat at a table that was too small for us. The food it's self was mediocre at best. The ham sandwich was bearable, the cucumber sandwich was cut to different sizes and left wanting. However the scones and cream tea were lovely! The staff that were working were friendly. but obviously over worked. Thankfully I didn't pay full price for this as it was a groupon voucher, but still was over priced. Would I go again? Simply put NO!

We waited 15 mins at the door before anyone came. Two people in the queue before us gave up and left. They wouldn’t allow us to sit at one of several empty tables because they said they were short of staff (what difference does that make - we still have to be served!). We eventually sat at a table next to dirty dishes with left over food across the table. After 20 mins our order was taken. We said we were vegetarian and was told we could only have goats cheese or camembert. We asked for cheddar as we can’t eat those 2 cheeses but was told “no, it’s a set menu.” We said can we have egg - “no, we don’t do egg but I’ll ask the chef.” Luckily he said yes. I asked if we could have tuna? “No, we only give tuna if you have a baguette, not with cream teas.” We settled for the egg. I asked for coffee from the manager, but it never arrived. I called her again after 15 mins. She said “oh yes, I forgot.” Eventually after another 15 mins the drinks. arrived. We got up to leave and the manager and staff walked passed us and nine of them said thank you, goodbye or did you like the food. One of the two of us, has been sick and the other nauseous. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. You are treated better in MacDonald’s. Never again.

It is very safe for covid , service wise even they were busy try to attend very quick we know it is very hard for them working with mask and new regulations . The service was amazing, the waiter was very happy to cater for our needs however the afternoon tea itself lacked in flavour and freshness. The sandwiches we hard and had barely any filling. Stopped for a coffee but decided to have lunch as well.We had the Roast Chicken Open sandwich and the Valerie Club sandwich, followed up by the vanilla Mille Feuille slice, all washed down with a flat white and a cloudy lemonade.The food in general was delicious, couldn’t really fault it; we did both agree that the sandwiches would be nice with cheese, but was still good without.The Mille Feuille slices were absolutely delectable, créme pat was excellent and the portion size was also very good.Flat white was fairly standard, but at £3.25 (I think..) it was more expensive than most, if not all the other coffees.The only thing that brought our experience down from a five star to a four star, was the fact that we sat waiting to pay for about 20 minutes after our plates were collected. But I do understand that restaurants get busy and it’s a testing time, so this is more understandable.I’d definitely recommend popping in, especially if the rest of the cakes, pastries and slices are anything like the Mille Feuille.

I went for having lunch with my friend, they haven’t got my favourite cake, Black Forest, so I ordered lemon&sugar crepe.My friend ordered fish finger with brioche, when the foods turned up, my crepes was dead cold & also the fish fingers and her chips quite few of them was black, I will not put that on a dinner table.The service by the young boy, don’t get his name, he was brilliant.Would I having seat down lunch there anymore? My husband and I and an elderly friend visited this week and we were pleased to see that the cafe was open again after lockdown and that the food on display looked delicious. However, we were disappointed and would not return. All three of us in our party have mobility problems and two of us use mobility scooters. Our previous booking at a different restaurant having fallen through, we dropped in early in the morning to ask if we would need to book for lunch. We were told no, it would be no problem to get a table. My husband arrived around 12.45 and my friend and I were following a few minutes behind. My husband was shown to the table. When my friend and I arrived on our mobility scooters, despite explaining that my husband was already waiting at the table, we were not allowed to go in to join him. Other guests were shown in in front of us whilst we had to wait. Eventually I had to phone my husband to ask him to come to the door to ask for us to be allowed in. A palaver then ensued regarding our mobility scooters. We were told, quite bluntly, that we were not allowed in with them and were to leave them outside. My friend is very frail and almost 85 years old and I have very limited mobility due to disabilities. In addition, one of our scooters does not lock so if left outside could have been stolen. We explained politely that it was not appropriate for us to be told to leave our mobility aids outside but were just told again, rudely, to leave them. Then my husband was told to dismantle my scooter, which he could not as he is also disabled. Basically, we were being refused entry unless we abandoned the mobility aids we rely on to get around, outside the restaurant. Eventually, after an argument, I was allowed to bring my scooter in, whilst my friend whose scooter was fractionally bigger had to struggle to walk to the table. I was barely able to get my narrow scooter past the large sign positioned in the middle of the entrance door but the staff member greeting guests did not help or offer to move the sign. We were all quite upset by how we had been treated and asked to speak to the manager. The manager showed no understanding whatsoever of how unwelcome we had been made to feel or why it is not appropriate to ask disabled customers to leave their mobility chairs outside and refuse entry if they don't. She repeatedly told me that there are rules about social distancing which everyone has to follow and that we were to be patient and understand that. I asked what did this have to do with social distancing and was told that our wheelchairs would be too near other customers! I said that I appreciate that we are required to socially distance but equally, a disabled person needs to have the same right to access a restaurant as an able bodied person. She just told me again that we were to realise that they have to follow social distancing guidelines from the council. She also told us repeatedly that it was our fault because we didn't tell them in advance that we would be coming and that we use mobility scooters. So, I asked, disabled customers who use mobility aids are required to book in advance, whereas able bodied customers are welcome anytime with no booking? She could not appreciate why this is discriminatory to the disabled. I pointed out that if she felt we could not bring our mobility chairs to the table we were at, there were loads of empty tables at the other side of the restaurant, with lots of space around them, so perhaps we could move there. She said no, that would inconvenience their other guests. I pointed out how unwelcome we had been made to feel. She told me that she has worked there 11 years and never once has anyone been made to feel unwelcome! Well, I guess there is a first time for everything!Frankly, all of us felt that we were treated very badly and that it was made clear that we were less welcome than other customers, to say the least. If there were an access issue such as the restaurant being on two floors, I would expect to need to advise about having a disability in advance of coming, so as to make sure a downstairs table were available, but when all the restaurant is on one floor, I would not expect to be discriminated against because I have a mobility scooter and not allowed in when other customers are and to be required to book in advance when other people don't have to. We all felt that either everyone needs to be welcome to come without booking, or everybody should be required to book, not one rule for disabled people and one rule for the able-bodied!Ironically, customers with large buggies and pushchairs were allowed in with no problem, whilst we were not welcome.The food was "okay" but nothing special and service was disorganised. My friend ordered an omelette and chips. A tiny portion of chips was brought out on its own. We asked what about the omelette. We were told it was coming. It still hadn't arrived 10-15 minutes later. When I eventually got the attention of a waiter and pointed out that the chips would now be cold, the omelette was then several minutes later brought out with fresh chips and they did apologise. Meanwhile, my husband's food had arrived long before my friend's. So altogether it was rather disorganised.A very disappointing visit. We would not return.

Went there for the first time. Its alright, nothing wow. The crepe wasn't as good as expected but they give free babychinno to little one and my baby enjoy drinking it thinking she is drinking like adults. That was the best part of our visit!

Ordered food...it came cold. still sat waiting for replacement. As very few customers due to no coffee available would have expected quicker. the salad was absolutely rubbish. Small portions. Not worth it...find somewhere else.

We visited here as a fairly large group for breakfast one weekend and, despite it being busy, were accommodated at a large round table in the rear with booth seating. This was great for a group situation and although being at the back of the restaurant the service from the staff was great. The waiting staff took the complete order by memory and every dish was served as requested; they clearly have the skilled nailed!We each went with the traditional breakfast which was large and well presented. The beans came with quite a bit of juice but the bacon was very thick, fried eggs runny and everything hot. Additional items such as black pudding can be added too. The atmosphere was great and everywhere was clean. Even as a large group the food arrived in good time. The pots of tea are large enough for a few cups so there’s no need to order one each. Overall it was quite an expensive option for breakfast but it felt good value given the quality of the food; I’d certainly consider eating here again even for more than just a cake.

Was given a voucher for afternoon tea for xmasVisited on Saturday and despite it being busy we were looked after very wellWe had asked what sandwiches were with the package and some we didn't like so the waitress said she would ask if we could just have the ones we liked rather than those we didn't likeIt was a little wait but we were very appreciative for their understanding. Sandwiches were freshly made .scones were warm and came with jam and clotted cream and the selection of small cakes were lovely too There was unlimited hot drinks with the package It was a lovely afternoon

Very delicious smashed avocado on toast but definitely needed the addition of the poached egg (done to perfection) to make it complete. Portion quite small I felt for the price. Cappuccino was a bit too large - but if you like a bucket of coffee the taste is good! Service was fast and friendly.

Cant fault it 👍 Walked in, served straight away. Ordered x2 breakfasts and teas Food food will return. Thank you.
