Had a voucher for afternoon tea, having read the reviews we were slightly dubious and unfortunately we were right to be. Food arrived after 40 mins, it was clearly all previously frozen as some of the cakes were freezing, scones the worst I've ever tasted and rock hard. Chipped crockery and stained tea pots etc. Overall a very underwhelming experience and I felt sorry for people coming in and paying almost £40 for this afternoon tea, dreadful, would never return.

What a bad experience. The Staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. We had to order twice. Had to wait 10 minutes to order, 20 minutes for our coffees and cakes to be served. When it arrived one cake was rock hard and stale. Staff didn't have any idea if cakes were fresh in or stale. We had paid for our coffee and cakes by Groupon as a treat. Such a shame, I think you need to improve your front of house Staff.

We ordered 2 baguettes for lunch. It took at least 15 mins for 2 cold drinks, then 30 minutes plus for our order to arrive despite there only being about 5 other tables with customers on them. I think they totally forgot about us. Very disappointing. If they had been rammed I could understand the delay, but they were virtually empty. I complained directly to reviews@patisserie-valerie.co.uk and after 3 days I still have not had a reply.

There’s a sign inside the door saying to wait to be seated. We waited. 3 members of staff looked briefly at us then completely ignored us. There were two women working and a younger looking young man. He gave us several worried glances but said nothing. The women seemed to be pretending we didn’t exist. As the place was almost empty, we walked to the young man, who was making coffee or doing something to the machine, and asked if we could sit anywhere. He said yes. We sat. We were still ignored for some time. Eventually, one of the women walked past our table with a cloth in her hand, presumably to wipe tables. She didn’t really even stop at our table but said « You can order off the QR code » then walked off. At no point we’re we greeted or even smiled at. As a former customer services representative, I can’t abide poor service. There is a reason for restaurants etc to come under the umbrella of the hospitality industry. There was no hospitality shown to us there. We left and went to enjoy a friendly lunch elsewhere.

Went for lunch, pretty empty. 2 staff behind the counter. Eventhough the sign says wait to be seated, no one came up to welcome us or say hello. Went to a table ourselves, used the QR code on the table to order & pay. Food came, nothing special. We left without any communication from the staff. Very odd….We chose this cafe because of a 25% off voucher code. We wouldn’t go again. Food average, zero atmosphere, staff looked like they would rather be somewhere else.

My friend was given this as Thank You Gift and asked me to write this review for her. When we arrived we gave the lady our voucher for Afternoon tea and she took it and walked off without speaking. We sat down and she came and asked what drinks we wld like and then brought them over without speaking. After 25 minutes we went and asked where our food was. It was an extremely poor effort when it did arrive. Not very well done atall. We asked for margarine or butter for the scones as one of us hates jam and told "no we don't have any on site" even though the sandwiches had margarine in !!! Arrived hungry and left hungry. Grabbed some food when we left. Lovely location and great decor but it was a poor effort all round and staff super unfriendly. First and last visit.

This Patisserie/cafe within the Eden Centre, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. Is quaint and friendly to all. It’s usually very clean and hygienic too. On this Christmas Eve I popped in for a rest bite from the madding crowd. It was surprisingly empty today , but lots of clean tables and seating. It’s family and disabled friendly too. The menu is basic, but lots of tasty hot / cold sandwiches and cakes to choose from. Service is friendly, and a must for any tourist visiting. Prices are reasonable as well. All in all a very pleasant place to go.

I took my mum here for afternoon tea today. It was lovely! We had hot drinks, sandwiches, 2 hot scones with proper strawberry jam and cream and 3 cakes each. We are both vegetarians so I wasn’t sure if we could request only vegetarian sandwiches however before I had to ask the server asked if we had any dietary requirements such as allergies or vegetarians etc. They were very accommodating and we got only only vegetarian sandwiches. The staff were very smiley and polite and we got served very quickly despite just turning up.

Oh my goodness what an absolute disappointment. Used to come here regularly with friends for a cooked meal or coffee & cake. But hadn't been in for the last 6 months or so. Such a shock & made me quite sad. The chiller cabinets used to be full of scrumptious cakes...but no longer. Just loads of macaroons & a few, very few, sad looking cakes. One of the chillers was looking very scruffy/untidy & full of crumbs. Despite only 2 other people bring in the cafe 2 of the nicest tables, inside by the front windows. were covered in staff paper work & paraphernalia so we couldn't sit at them. The lady sho served us was charming but that was the only good thing about this place. Sadly will not be returning. No wonder so many of the branches have closed down. It tells u everything when we walked further along to Starbucks & it was choc-a-bloc with people drinking & eating

Having made the effort to reach the far end of the EDEN Centre my wife was tempted by the PV. Having spotted the English breakfast I thought that at least that was a fair option. The clue is in SERVED all day. I have to say that the only fresh food on the plate were the two poached eggs and the pieces of toast. Clearly I had made the wrong choice as the bacon had clearly sat for some time being kept warmed. The mushroom was also very tired and pre cooked. As the hand gel given to my wife, shot onto her food the First Lady server seemed unwilling to help but Wali, please forgive the spelling of his name was excellent. He was charming, excellent at meet and greet and if I was the owner I would be paying him a bonus to retain his services. Food wise at £9.25 the breakfast was clearly highly priced but I suppose one enters in hope! The pot of fresh tea was very good. Service Grade A Value D Atmosphere C

Service was slow to start as there seem to be only 1 person on table service and the rest of the staff focusing on takeaways. As a Italian guy and coffe lover I was scared of what to expect going in a British coffe shop, as for us the coffe is not just a daily routine but a real tradition. A burned coffe or a watery one can destroy the beginning of your day.. Great people ready to serve you and make you feel comfortable from the very same moment u open the door.. It was luke warm and the tuna fish mix was in a bowl on the side Not really impressed, My daughter ordered avocado and poached egg on toast no flavour egg was fully cooked and she wasn't impressed either We then took away four slices of cake different flavours when we ate them they were sickly sweet and you couldn't differentiate the flavours it was just a cake that was sickly sweet not sure if it was a bad day to go as there were quite a few people that seemed to be enjoying the meal BUT wouldn't go again quite pricey too.

Very rude place. you all need to learn some manners !!

Having been here before for the experience of an English Tea ie scones, cakes etc hubby thought we should try Brunch. I ordered eggs Benedict, bacon, hollandaise sauce and all served on slices of bruschetta bread. Well, the amount of thick cut bacon, perfectly cooked, and perfectly poached eggs was an absolute treat! There was enough bacon served on my plate for two people! Unusual as normally places scrimp on enough bacon. The eggs were delicious and the hollandaise sauce creamy and just the right amount. The bread was thick cut and toasted just right for me. Hubby had the full English breakfast that included mushrooms and again thoroughly enjoyed it. Although he did mention his toast was more warm bread than toasted. Coffee were lovely, thick and creamy and they serve soya milk which I need. The staff are friendly and attentive. I would thoroughly recommend a lunch visit before hitting the shops of High Wycombe. Try afternoon tea as well as you won't be disappointed. ☕️Wear elastic waist trousers as you're gonna need them!Enjoy amigos! X

I went here with my grown up daughter for a bite to eat late lunchtime. We found somewhere to sit easily enough although it was very busy. I had to ask for our table to be cleaned and it was a long wait after that for our order to be taken. My coffee arrived 15 minutes before my daughter's tea. She ordered a hot meal and the highlight was the side salad. The toastie was burned at the edges and was not appetising. I had to go ask for cutlery. My lemon tart came with a thumb sized dent in it and - yes - a soggy bottom. Mary Berry would not be impressed! Having waited over ten minutes for the bill we could have easily walked out without paying. No one was keeping an eye on the customers and ensuring everything was ok for them. The drinks and beverages on offer are many and any request is not too much trouble...the ethos of this venue is so incredibly customer centred. The venue interior is tastefully decorated and the front counter seriously tempts you with so many incredible, tantalising treats! The prices are moderate but are exceptionally worth it as the quality is excellent. The venue is so close to the Highstreet that it couldn't be any more easily accessible. A great place!

We were given a Groupon voucher for afternoon tea here. We thought it would be excellent, but how wrong we were. I think they must cut back on items, when it is not full price. The promised mince pies were tiny mince tarts, no lids on them. No cake forks, surely a place like this with the cakes and gateaus they serve, have cake forks, when we asked were given dinner forks! On arrival we were waiting to have a table allocated to us, when 2 other couples behind, pushed in and took the available tables, no manners. So overall, not a good experience.

Waiting for the shops to open and decided to have a coffee somewhere quiet and this was fabulous. So fabulous that the coffee became a wonderfully cooked eggs benedict and a couple of macchiato. The 'no music' is a policy apparently, a real blessing when everywhere else is blaring out 30 year old Xmas music!

My wife and I have visited this place a few times. Occasionally the service is good and occasionally poor. It does not seem to depend on how busy the place is because we have had good service on a very busy day (as well as poor service) and poor serve on a quiet day.The food can also be a bit hit and miss so it's a lottery what you might find if you choose to visit. The food is a bit pricey for what it is and there are equally good places nearby for less.

We used a WH SMITH voucher we were given last Christmas for afternoon tea for two last week (current cost £34) - to be provided with very very average afternoon tea which costs £28 if you buy it in there (which I now wouldn't). Scones were tasty - but otherwise everything average and Waitress was lovely was only godsend. We were in and out in less than 15 mins. Ambience of venue average as well.

We had a very nice lunch here today. I had a club sandwich, followed by a mille-feuille and my daughter had a vegetarian full english breakfast. The food was very good and was nicely presented. The only slight criticism I would have, was that the pastry on the mille-feuille wasn't especially crispy which was a shame. It was still delicious though!

Usually tempted by the Mille Feuille or the various gateaux, this visit we decided for something savoury. Two Croques Monsieur ordered and a couple of coffees, and I have to say they were ok. Nothing spectacular, and the bechamel had a bit of a funny flavour, but the coffee was nice and the service attentive. Will revert to sweet things next time, they definitely do this better.

Over the years I have usually had good experiences in branches of Patisserie Valerie, particularly in London, so, finding myself in High Wycombe for the day, I sought out the Patisserie Valerie restaurant in the new Eden Shopping Centre to have lunch. The restaurant is modern with high ceilings and comfortable chairs. The staff were attentive and I ordered lasagne and salad and a bottle of sparking water. The water was nice, well chilled and served with a glass with ice and fresh lemon slices. When the lasagne and salad arrived I had the first of two new experiences. It was quite simply the worst lasagne I had ever eaten. It was served in a shallow oval dish and the whole thing was covered in a thick rubbery layer of inedible cheese, probably some sort of mozarella. Once I had removed it there wasn't much left except a couple of layers of flaccid pasta and some ragu. The salad was limp and comprised a few rocket leaves and some baby tomatoes. No salad dressing was offered. Note to chef : a classic lasagne is created using pasta sheets layered with a rich ragu, a light scattering of grated parmesan and a thich bechemal sauce. The top is covered with more bechemal sauce, a few small shards of butter and a sprinkling of grated parmesan. No other cheese should ever be used.Still a tad hungry after this disaster, I ordered a belgian apple tart from the patisserie cabinet and had my second new experience. It was the driest, most stale apple tart I had ever eaten with a sort of fondant filling topped with thin, leathery apple slices. This in Patisserie Valerie ! - how hard can it be ? So - Patisserie Valerie in Covent Garden - great. Patisserie Valerie on Marylebone station - great. High Wycombe ? - give it a miss.

This is my second visit to this cafe. On the first occasion my husband and I visited we had to wait for our order so long we gave up and left. However, always willing to give second chances we tried again today. The cafe was almost empty and appeared to be, if anything, over staffed. We ordered our drinks which arrived promptly and sadly it was at this point that the old familiar pattern started to unfold. We waited and waited but no sign of the cakes we had ordered arrived despite the fact they were in a chiller about 4ft away and the staff were hardly rushed off their feet. Obviously the task of taking two cakes out of a chiller and popping them on a plate was beyond their capabilities. Yet again we were obliged to give up, abandon the order and leave. They certainly won't be given a third chance and I'll never darken their door again. Take my advice and avoid!!!!

Went here for a mid morning treat when shopping in High Wycombe. The cakes look amazing. I ordered the triple Chocolate cake which was delicious and rich. I couldn't manage it all. I took home a couple of cakes for my husband as he has a sweet tooth - vanilla cheese cake and raspberry mouse. Whilst good the texture was a little strange as if they had put a little too much gelatine in the cake. However, overall very good. The coffee as lovely - not too strong and of good quality.A definite place to go with a friend for a chat

Went with my wife and 2 boys. We had not been before and had a group on offer for 2 cream teas. As soon as we showed the paperwork the waitress' look changed.'You get 2 drinks and 2 scones' was the coldly worded statement. We ordered hot chocolates for the boys then thought a cold drink might be preferable. I asked if we could change and got a grudging acceptance. When I asked for 2 milkshakes instead she rolled her eyes and stated that she would 'have to ask the Manager' - way to make us feel special! The milk shakes did arrive with a measly pot of clotted cream and the scones. There was zero interaction and we were made to feel like we were a real inconvenience who were trying to milk the groupon offer for all it was worth. But does a milkshake REALLY cost the chain any more or less than a hot chocolate?Food was ok, but the service was extremely poor.

Thought we would grab a coffee and a cake and just chill as we were visiting High Wycombe. Location is great however the service is not the greatest. The drinks were fine but the fruit scone was somewhat horrible. The scone was overheated and it tasted doughy. It was horrible and top it all when you try to speak to someone who at best does not understand you it says it all. If you can avoid this coffee house and nip into Starbucks opposite as much better food and service and you don't have to repeat yourself. All I can say is a poor experience.

We stopped by with a Living Social discount voucher for 2 take out snacks for £7. This allowed a choice of baguettes/bagel and a soft drink. The manager kindly allowed us to eat in [we were mistaken] and also allowed me to swap my soft drink for a pot of tea. Service and quality were excellent but would anyone really pay the full price of £8.50 for an open salmon and Philadelphia cream cheese bagel? I would eat there again but choose the food carefully.

Had a rescue tea and cake here after a full on shopping afternoon. It was worth it. They rarely fail to delight with the cakes and the drinks were to a good standard too. Slightly on the expensive side but worth it.

I popped in here for the fist time for tea and cake. I got a very warm welcome from the waitress and she helped me with my order. I had the raspberry tart with custard and white chocolate cream - gorgeous, loved every mouthful. Worth every penny!

We love cakes and this place has some amazing ones. Would highly recommend Black forest and the strawberry ones. They have this gift box of 4 mix cakes for £10. Nice packing and very good deal.

This branch of PV is very small and set in a local shopping centre. Food is good, cakes especially so, but they really are astronomically expensive for what they are and can only be a very special, very occasional treat...

Lovely food highly recommended, staff friendly and professional. Met up with friends who were staying here so decided to have something to eat before we went into town. Even my husband whose normally very fussy, had no complaints. Would eat here again.

Dreadful! No other word could describe he appalling staff, service and cleanliness of this cafe. When asked what we wanted ( the staff member could barely be bothered to ask) we were quickly warned that there were no cups for tea only paper ones- not off to a good start! As the cakes were priced at £4.25 we expected a reasonable slice of cake but as the price has gone up shrinkflation has reduced the size to that of a Mr Kiplings slice! All the tables were laden with uncleared dirty china which customers had moved from table to table, the ‘clean’ cutlery was filthy, obviously the dishwasher isn’t working properly, and as for the staff… disinterested, all doing their own thing, no organisation. We spent £25 on poor quality food and drink. We were unable to complain at the time as there was no manager working today! Avoid! It may be worth reading other reviews as it would seem I’m not alone with this opinion!

Nice place but honestly they need to sort out the waiting time to order. Painful. And the toilets are pretty dirty. And the taps don’t work. Got to feel sorry for the staff. Good job Waitrose.

I get the impression that the owners are winding the Taps down. The bar staff are excellent, beer is good but often the selection can be poor. Food is no longer available, but you can take food in. The bar is looking tired, the loos are very retro, if 1970s public toilets are your thing. Its a real shame.

The usual case of not having stock of what is offered online, and overpriced cafe. But both weekend visits have been marred by the attitude of Gen Z weekend staff (the regular staff uphold JL standards as ever ☺️). One couldn't even be bothered(able?) to divide £549 in half!
