My first ever review on here ! I don’t normally write reviews but this little gem of a place needs a mention! Lovely warm welcome by the owner and her small team, met with proper coffee and a superb lunch - I had Welsh rarebit and my friend had the poached eggs on toast - both done to perfection! I don’t even like coleslaw, but decided to try it after my friend said how nice it is - it didn’t disappoint, you can tell it’s all freshly made by the big give away of them making everything in front of you fresh to order. We took home some scones and tray bakes for our families- they went down an absolute treat! Apologies for the gushing first post, but when you find somewhere that’s as welcoming, and great food, you want to support them, especially with it being an independent business.

I regularly call in at Pastimes of Goostrey for some lunch when out riding my bike. There is always a warm welcome when I arrive and the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful. The food is always excellent and I just love the Sultana and Ginger Flapjack. Coffee is great too. I highly recommend you call in if you are passing by.

Very poor quality. It"s obviously popular with locals. But if you are looking good quality well prepared food look elsewhere. It's just cheap bread, big tubs of Costco or similar coleslaw, literally spooned out on the counter in full view. What tasted like tubs bought tuna mix. Dried salad. The cakes are even worse, dried up slabs, probably cooked before Xmas. Went there after a visit to Jodrell, somewhere close by. The waitress was really pleasant but just my honest opinion to help others. We did not complain at time as with our son and we just wanted to get it over and done with and chalk it up to making a bad choice.

Had the afternoon tea for my birthday with my daughter and I have to say this was the BEST Afternoon Tea. Everything was prefect and well worth the money and more. We arrived early than our booking which was not a problem. The tea is delicious and the extra pot of water is fab. The sandwiches were really good and plenty of filling. The homemade quiche was amazing and filling. The scones and cakes OMG the best ever, Wendy is so talented in her baking skills. We had to take home cakes as we was so full. Love the china tea sets and the setting. Enjoyed the setting and the friendly other dinners who interact with you. Staff amazing, so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble and they chat with you making you feel at easy and welcomed. We had such a lovely afternoon and felt totally spoilt. We will come back as everything is fresh, homemade and totally delicious

Rode past the cafe and did a quick u turn as there was outside seating and the sun was shining. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food very good - decent sized tuna melt served with a very fresh side salad. The staff even mentioned they had a much nicer garden / area at the back with outside seating. People on the next table said the flapjacks were excellent so I’ll take their word for it as I’m not a lover of the flapjack. A great place to stop when cycling in the area. 🚴♂️

I usually pop in a couple of times a week. Always excellent food and I particularly like the mushroom omelette. Nothing to fault at all.

This place that you could easily pass by is popular with folks in the know: tasty food, plenty of it, friendly service and home-spun charm. Very cyclist friendly. The toasted sandwiches and BLTs are particularly good, as are the enormous and varied flapjacks.

Visited the cafe with my family for lunch in August 2019. We ordered tuna melts and a ham sandwich. The service was pleasant but the food was garnished with the driest salad (particularly the cucumber and flavourless tomatoes) I have ever seen; so much so it was inedible. Clearly it had been prepared hours / days earlier. Likewise, the bread on the ham sandwich was stale and dry. This is particularly unforgivable as you could see and feel the food wasn’t fresh, so it should never have been served!

To find such friendly staff, proper food and parking is not usually something common. Passtimes has all three, and many other attributes.

Visited for breakfast and was offered the courtyard at the back which was delightful. The staff are so friendly and the poached eggs on toast perfectly cooked. And it is so reasonably priced! Wonderful.

A nice cafe with friendly staff in a nice part of the village. Best thing I love about the cafe is there Flapjacks & Brownies. They give you a good portion. Definitely worth your money and a wide choice to choose from. My favourite is the chocolate flapjack.

I’ve had lunch here many times. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the take huge and we usually end up leaving with some cake to take away. It’s a hub of the community.

We visited Pastimes for a quick bite, but instead stayed somewhat longer for a really nice English cooked breakfast. Everything tasted fresh and was well presented.

This is a small village cafe just set back on the main road through Goostrey amongst a small handful of shops. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. We are talking traditional from the outset, from taking your order on the traditional notepad to traditional tea leaf tea and nice and good selection of food. Everything is reasonably priced and you can either while away some time and watch the world go by or call in to take away a sausage roll etc. Well worth a visit!

Small village centre cafe run by very friendly ladies. The food is great - especially the welsh rarebit - a really good selection of home made cakes, pies as well as bread for sale. The flapjacks in all their different varieties are excellent - and I'm assured not fattening!

We've been for lunch several times in this small cafe. We've been delighted every time. The price is very reasonable and they use excellent ingredients eg good bacon, tasty cheese, proper leaf tea in china cups. Everything was delicious, including the soup and the best rarebit we'd ever tasted. There were fresh scones and cakes. It's a limited menu but all home-made. They were happy to alter the menu to suit us and offered very friendly service. The two ladies are obviously working hard to make it a success. The cafe attracted a range of people while we were there, from people living in the village, families and passing cyclists to workmen wanting a takeaway hot buttie. We will definitely come back. Such a good feeling to have had a relaxed, enjoyable, tasty lunch in friendly surroundings and cosy decor. Brilliant!

Always a delight to have breakfast here. Proper full breakfast cooked and served to perfection by Holly and Gemma. There's nothing here to complain about at all. Always a warm welcome, and just a pleasure to make time here for a proper breakfast. What more can I say?

We used to regularly walk to Miola for a coffee and can’t believe how it has changed. Outside is a complete dump with tatty pieces of furniture up for sale at ridiculous prices . The elephant and giraffe which have been there for years are still for sale at a ridiculous price. Toilet was filthy with no toilet paper. Chose to sit outside as had children with us and tables were tatty and dirty. The food was overpriced and mediocre. Bacon sandwich with virtually no bacon. Peanut butter on toast which was slimy and greasy. Children took one look and didn’t touch it and can’t say I blamed them. It is so sad as Miola used to be such a lovely place to go to. Can only assume that with Holmes Chapel closing its on the cards that Sandbach will close as well. So disappointing and what a waste of money !
