Plums Kitchen in Cheshire East

We have visited a number of times, usually on Treacle market Sundays. We have always enjoyed delicious food and very good service from the waitresses. However unfortunately our most recent visit today was spoilt by the bad mannered attitude of the chef. After finishing and paying for our meals and drinks (2 granola and yoghurt, 2 teacakes, a breakfast sandwich, orange,flat white and latte), I took my 5 year old to use their toilet in the basement. As we waited, the chef asked if we had used the establishment, to which we replied yes. He then said 'are you sure, I haven't seen you', I explained what we had eaten and where we had been sat, not to be deterred he said again 'well I haven't seen you, this toilet is only for our guests!' I understand that with a lot of people visiting on market days, they may not want to open their facilities to everyone, but at the same time you can't accuse paying customers of lying! I politely explained to him that we had enjoyed our visit but it isn't very good customer service to speak to people like this, he replied 'well it's your prerogative to eat somewhere else'. His attitude was so disappointing because as I have mentioned we have always enjoyed our visits, but a business is team and unfortunately his attitude has let down his team on this occasion and I think unfortunately we probably will look elsewhere in future.

I think you're wonderful. I come in for a takeaway lunch atleast once a week because your food is fabulous. A wonderful menu made up of plenty of delicious plants- love your exciting salad bar with so much variety, the best delicious bread and your warm, tender lamb is divine. A nice selection of cakes, dairy milk alternatives for drinks and just a gorgeous vibe in your café. Love what you do.

This place is great for freshly cooked, tasty food at a very affordable price. I had toasted sourdough topped with smashed avocado, smoked salmon, topped with goats cheese. My husband had a full breakfast. Plenty of choice for vegans too. Would definitely go back if we are in the area.

Busy as usual. Bobbed in for brunch. Breakfast served until 11:40, but you can get breakfast sandwiches / paninis at lunchtime. The breakfast panini are fully loaded, thick slices of bacon, sausage rounds and yolky eggs. I love their Turkish eggs- really tasty and filling. Coffee hot and strong. Also have vegan options ( see photo) which sound delish.

Only recently found Plums and what an amazing find. Family & dog friendly and such a great menu choice, can’t wait to go back to try more food from the menu! Even if just popping in for take out tea & coffee they are always busy. Well done to the whole team, food delicious and served promptly considering it was treacle market day. Prices were extremely good for the quality of the food.

My go-to place for a coffee or breakfast. Not big, but great service and staff go the extra mile.

It has definitely changed from my previous visit a few years ago. It's a brilliant place to have food from. Staff are also friendly. If in the area, please visit.

I work across the road and eat here regularly. Amazing hubby and wife team who genuinely care about what they produce, the ingredients used and presentation. It never fails. And it’s always rammed!!

Lovely little Gem of a cafe , you really won't be disappointed , from the moment you walk in the door the service is Lovely, the food excellent especially the soup , and great value for money , we've definitely found a favourite new place to eat

Good gluten-free food selection .Staff friendly, food great and good value for money. The only downside is that it could do with being bigger inside. It's definitely worth a visit

I really can't fault Plums Kitchen. I've visited a few times now and the food, atmosphere, and service are always fantastic 👍 The full breakfast is amazing and, as great as all the ingredients are, I must say the potato cakes are particularly awesome.

We’ve eaten here several times for breakfast/brunch/lunch and it’s always been great, everything is just a little bit different with some fabulous choices. I’d really recommend the Turkish eggs with flatbread, absolutely delicious. This time we were here for a family celebration brunch and the staff looked after us so well. 10/10.

A friend recommended Plum Kitchen and we visited for the first time today. It certainly will not be our last. The food was absolutely delicious and so beautifully presented. My husband had a foccacia sandwich with salmon and I had a halloumi salad. There was so much variety in the salad, with hummus, tzatziki, falafel, pomegranate, beetroot and so much more. I will be back very soon

Food quality and taste is excellent, service is superb - incredibly friendly staff and the chef always gives our puppy a sausage! What more could we ask for? There’s a reason it’s always busy.

Great healthy and tasty food (very hard to find!). Very friendly and efficient staff. Reasonably priced. Not the most comfortable place to sit and quite crowded, but definitely worth a visit!

Went there today for lunch with my sister, it cost us less than £8 each for a good size plate of flat bread, hummus yoghurt salad and beautifully cooked tasty lamb and a drink. The food was excellent the best ever, the staff were lovely and friendly as well. Definitely going back there. Whoever happens to be in Macclesfield you must go there for lunch. They have very good menu too.

Really nice place for a sit down. Coffee is well made, hot chocolate is delicious and the sandwiches are really fresh. Staff/owners are really friendly as well. Would recommend.

Super-reliable and good value lunch spot. Dog friendly. Very on the ball family business. Focaccia with poached salmon sandwich for under £6 is a real bargain. Top soups, cakes too.

Everything that came out the kitchen looked divine. Definitely coming back to try some more dishes. Service with a smile but make sure to grab a seat early as it’s a cozy seating area.

Absolutely love plums. Great menu choices such as fresh salads boxes, toasties, slow cooked lamb sandwiches etc. Amazing cake selection. Really happy staff who are always so welcoming and very reasonably priced. Definitely go and grab something yummy.

Really nice little place on a slightly quieter road near the library, 2-3 staff members, very friendly and fast, we had 2 full english breakkies and the serving was abundant and beautifully presented on a unique large dish. About £10-12 per person for a Full English and a drink. Recommended.

Really like this place, great food and service with friendly staff in a central location in Macclesfield. I would rate this 5 stars but my only issue (for me) is that the kitchen is kind of open plan with the restaurant seating, which is nice but you do come out smelling of the food. Its a lovely smell but not on your clothes. Gets busy at certain time like Saturday morning. Would recommend.

Visited this lovely cafe today (10/01/23) The staff and Chef were very friendly. The coffee was outstanding, pecan cake and bacon ciabatta was spot on all super fresh. Would love to come back and try the lunch menu, definitely visit again .

Chef cooks all the ingredients whilst you wait and the result is magnificent. I can only comment on the vegetarian option but the kids enjoy the carnivore version. Homemade baked beans and cheesy potato cakes, two fried eggs, brown and white toast plus falafel, mushrooms and a kind of vegetable thingy.

Favourite cafe in town. Sandwiches are amazing and great value! Love it.

Great place for breakfast, lunch or coffee!

Relaxed, lovely place to pop into for a coffee and a bite to eat. Unpretentious and colourful decor makes it a good place to be as does the friendly, helpful service. The bacon and sausage butties are brill too !

Possibly the best coffee in Macclesfield and the cakes are homemade. I've only eaten once before and it was really nice. All the food is made to order so be prepared to wait a little but it'll be worth it. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. I'm not sure if you can make a reservation but if you want to eat during lunchtime it's worth enquiring otherwise you may be disappointed as it's always busy.

We recently visited with a range of requirements in our group - gluten-free, vegetarian, half-caf coffee etc. They took it all in their stride & served us absolutely delicious breakfasts with a smile.

I've been coming to Plums since I moved to Macc; but after the covid shenanigans...have only returned recently and its is still Excellent! Intrinsically warm and friendly, the comforting menu, sincere service and lovely coffee really help you become ensconced. I have had a wonderful lunch a couple.of time recently; fantastic soup and wonderful toasted sourdough sandwich (salt beef!)...I really can't reccommend it enough! Wellnworth a try or visit!

After the mouth watering Korean pork and cucumber pickle sandwich I couldn't resist a second trip from Sheffield just weeks after. Impressively fast service as well given how busy it was on my second trip.

Lovely cafe for regular folks. Sadly not at all ableist/disabled/allergy friendly. Attempted to buy lunch for my autistic partner here hoping to get something nice. Unfortunately the sandwiches contain a lot of things not listed anywhere and the staff don't ask you if you want them, they just make it with them on. Strong smelling and tasting condiments/onions/chives etc. Got a sandwich home to discover this, upon returning it and asking for a replacement without the unlisted extras, I was charged full price for this again and left feeling very uncomfortable. It is also worth noting some of the eat in food is served on a bed of mayo so if you aren't keen on mayo make sure to let them know

The slow roasted lamb is the best sandwich you will get in Macclesfield, the salad boxes are also amazing.

We called in today en route to the Treacle Market. All the Covid stuff taken care of and we had a good range of breakfast dishes that were really delicious. Very quick service all served with a smile. Great start to the day.

Amazing food and service. Excellent Gluten Free options. Highly recommended. Only downside is that there is limited seating but don't be put off - well worth a visit. Try the Pop Up menus that they have introduced during the COVID period. Amazing value and absolutely delicious!

We had a takeaway meal from here on Saturday. The standard of the food is amazing. Starter, main course and dessert. All beautifully packed with lots of elements. Everything was mouthwateringly delicious.

Splendid little café! Everything they do they do really, really well - delicious bread in their sandwiches, and one of the best salad selections around! Their catering service is top-notch as well.

Always a friendly welcome here. Freshly prepared meals and snacks are first class. The coffee is one of the best you'll find and lower priced than most in town. Always busy at lunchtime so if possible visit either side of peak periods.

The welcome and the atmosphere is cold. A smile during ordering wouldn't hurt. Also it seemed painful to get a description of the meals. The food is quite nice and an interesting choice. Fork and glasses were dirty.

Happened upon this little cafe when visiting Macclesfield with my brother. We can highly recommend the sausage sandwich which just hit the spot. Lovely cuppa too.
