The Chestergate Bistro in Cheshire East

We had heard the restaurant was under new management since we last visited. We found it to be as good if not better than our previous experiences. I understand that whilst the management may have changed the chef has remained and continues to deliver excellent meals.

Amazing food, can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant, really delicious, well thought out and beautiful dishes. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

It's a while since we've been to Chestergate Bistro and I'm not really sure why we left it so long! We had a fabulous family dinner. Every course was delicious and the atmosphere in the restaurant is so pleasant. The staff are extremely attentive and make you feel totally at ease. I can't recommend it highly enough. We will be back soon.

Second visit to the Chestergate Bistro…this small, unassuming restaurant is a “keeper” - beautiful food, well priced. We will be back (and back!)

Fantastic food and good value - we went on a Tuesday night so got 3 courses for £33. I had the chicken liver pate, one of the best I've ever had, and my husband had warm goats cheese salad, which was beautiful. We both had duck, cooked perfectly. Finally, an excellent creme brulee for dessert. Its reputation is well deserved, we will definitely be back.

Visited with 10 year old granddaughter for lunch. I had soup .. lovely … but the goats cheese salad my daughter had was ever better … freshest salad with beetroot and a full cheese … not crumbled. The kids menu was excellent .. even had a mini fillet steak on it. The two adults both had the wagyu burger .. another great choice. The crème brûlée on a lunchtime menu was great… served with honeycomb ice cream .. all agreed we could not find fault with anything and our lunchtime girls day out was great

The food here is incredible. We had the three-course set menu on Saturday night. It was very busy but service was really quick and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Went there on Sunday 10th March for Mother’s Day lunch. What a little gem of a restaurant. Not usually open on a Sunday, so we were delighted to get a table. Delicious food, beautifully presented. Will definitely go again.

An excellent meal enjoyed by myself, my husband and 2 friends. The apperitif was delicious, the slow roasted pork was melt in the mouth wonderful and the steak and duck were enjoyed by my companions! The service was brilliant, very friendly welcoming staff and great atmosphere, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Chestergate Bistro!

Lovely decor inside. Cosy and continental style cafe feel to it. Waiter was very attentive and as there was a delay with our mains we were offered some free canapés as a gesture which I thought showed excellent customer service. My steak was cooked to perfection and I could not fault the food. The mushroom soup for starter was delicious. I had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert with ice cream and it was beautifully presented and delicious also. We complimented the meal and the Chef came out personally to speak to us which again I thought was nice. My only suggestion would be slightly bigger portion sizes, but it was still a very decent sized meal and not too small like some fine dining experiences. Will definitely be going back to try the Thai curry which some guests say next to us had and recommended. Thanks for a great dining experience.

We've booked this for a business team dinner meeting and all I can say is WOW! Both the food and staff have exceeded expectations beyond imagination. From start of booking and being super attentive and responsive, to the beautiful inside decoration, the name cards printed beautifully with pre-order details for my colleagues, and amazing atmosphere and great food - this is amazing value for money! We will definitely be visiting again and thank you so much for making our meeting a great success.

This place is really the most hidden gem I have ever been to , Ahmed the server also the waiter and the owner really are a cut above the rest . The service was like being in a Michelin star restaurant in the centre of Mayfair I am honestly blown away the steak was literally something cut to perfection for a restaurant of this size to have reviews so insane is hard to believe but OMG!!!! Delicious croissant eggs Royale and Benedict. Extremely welcoming and friendly. We have been going to this Bistro for dinner for many years; they have recently opened for brunch delivering the same high standard of quality ingredients and presentation. Thoroughly recommend and look forward to our next visit.

Had a fantastic lunch today with my wife. French Onion Soup was the best I’ve ever had. My wife really loves her goats cheese salad. She loved the caramelised walnuts very much. Booked to go back next month. So glad they have opened again at lunchtime

They've just reopened for lunchtimes. We used to go there all the time. So we went for lunch on Saturday. Delicious home cooked food at good prices served by lovely people.

The restaurant has new ownership, but we weren’t disappointed at all! Service, quality of food & value for money was exceptional. We all had the scallops to start, followed by fish & chicken dishes. All served with a choice of 3 different potato options. They even served my mum a happy birthday complimentary dessert. This is a real gem, with high end cooking, served beautifully.

I'm so so happy they decided to reopen for lunch and i was even happier when i saw they hadn't altered the menu too much either, back are my favourite dishes that I've missed so much these past years! Everything was so tasty and amazing value, they could be charging much more for the quality of their ingredients, The soup is also a game changer and has to be ordered on every visit. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to visit again. 10/10.

An outstanding dining experience. The service was not only excellent, but the food was also delicious. We were treated to a complimentary wine glass, palette cleansers, and sample dishes. The best food we’ve had in ages. Everyone in our party was in agreement- just superb. My husband’s steak was perfect, my risotto was just beautiful, and the service and ambiance were excellent. The prices are so reasonable, also. We’ll be back very soon.

Extemely busy on the night we visited, however Fantastic as usual. The best Aberdeen Angus fillet steak in the Macclesfield area cooked to perfection. The food is always consistently excellent and we would definitely recommend to anybody.

Friendly and helpful staff, very well presented and cooked dishes. The scallops were great and the cod loin really tasty. Very good value considering the quality of the dishes.

Quaint place, was seated beside a staircase that led down to toilet so constant foot traffic passing us in a narrow setting. The food was ok, small portions and was left feeling slightly hungry..i would say style over substance with this place.. food ok but not great.
