Lovely place. Bonus deal night £13.50 special on a weds. Just wish i had gone with a normal curry. The murg masala was not good. Way to salty to the point it over powedered the meal and was over spiced. But everything else super. Staff great.

Staying up the road for a few days holiday and walked past this restaurant earlier in the day. Decided to give it a try and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and the service spot on. When ordering had poppadoms and dips. Husband had lamb sag and I had lamb rogan josh, both with rice and shared a garlic naan. All washed down with a bottle of wine. Sitting here writing this, struggling to breathe!!

Got there, had 3poppadoms ,that was ok,then I ordered butter chicken, omg well when it came I could have picked it up rolled it up and rolled it into a ball, when tasted it tasted of flour tons of it,I said can’t eat it,they took it back and halved it put cream in ,gave it me back, did not eat it as still loads of flour in it,in that time my Chipatties was cold, not rocket science. My husbands had at leaste a full onion, big chunks, cooked in oil and was swimming,he had chicken jalfrezie, sorry for the spelling,he could not eat that, but they charged us £30, for his and one drink each and starter, got back to B&b ,that night he had diarrhoea, and I was sick,so thank you very much, shall never ever go again, and while we was there, there was was a table of six people ,swearing shouting, great night NOT .

Very popular place we found for an evening meal. Being a vegetarian I chose three side dishes and I have to say it was worth the wait! The food was amazing! We hadn't booked we just walked in and they advised us of the wait time so after about five minutes we were shown to our table and served pretty much straight away but then waited a good 40 minutes for our main dish so disappointed with the wait but when it arrived it was spot on.

Truly terrible food. Do not wast your money or risk your health. The onion bhajee was not authentic, not deep fried, more like reheated shop bought. The dipping sauce was horrible. The tandoori butter chicken was bland strips of old meat in a Korma like off yellow sweet sauce. The chicken balti was in a shop bought sauce with no vegetables stated in the description. Most of the food went in the bin. Never again. I’m not feeling great. My lovely man’s review. I suspect this so called restaurant survives on the basis that there's one born every minute. Because anyone with a brain cell and taste buds would never return in a thousand years. The reason being the so called food. (I ordered a takeaway of a chicken balti, butter chicken, two plain naan and an onion bhajee) The balti had no spices or vegetables and was just an oily mess of tasteless goo. How the heck do you make a curry taste bland and horrible? However they managed to do it, l don't think they know what spices are. The butter chicken was equally bland and tried to pretend to be a korma, much to my partner's disappointment this also ended up in the bin. The naan bread was soggy and tasted like warmed up wall paper paste. The onion bhajee was loaded with enough oil and grease l used it on the squeaky rusty door hinges, so not a total loss. The rest went in the bin, l couldn't for shame give it to the dog or the many seagulls here in Whitby. I've had a few curries in my time and l can honestly say this is by far the worst I've ever had the displeasure to come across. I'm only comforted that I'll never have to go to the Passage of India again and that I've lived long enough to write this review. Date of visit: April 2024

Had a takeaway delivery from here and it arrived quickly, can’t fault the delivery service at all however it was honestly the worst curry I’ve ever had!! The Bhajis were tasteless and soggy in the middle, the chicken tikka wasn’t cooked properly!! We ordered 3 different curries and they all looked exactly the same and tasted the same!! Again the chicken was raw in the middle, I literally had to spit it out! The sauce was powdered, even the spices weren’t cooked properly. I’ve had a better curry out of a jar from a supermarket . I wish there was another Indian takeaway in Whitby as this was a massive disappointment and a waste of money. £50 literally just went in the bin 🤨

We had booked a table for 8pm but arrived around 15 mins early. We were seated straight away. We sat around 15 mins waiting for someone to take the drinks order and then at around 8.15pm we ordered starters and mains. By 9pm the main courses still hadn't arrived. We were told that our food would come in 10 minutes but we were still waiting 15 minutes later. The customers on tables either side of us had also waited around an hour for food and one of those had asked for the bill 3 times after finishing their meal and still did not receive it to the table. We felt that we had waited too long for the food, it was getting too late for us to eat such a big meal, we decided to leave. We'd had a poppadom and pickle tray, the poppadoms were over done and tasted burnt. One of us had a onion bhaji which was ok. We asked for more water twice and did not receive it. The staff were pleasant enough and we did receive an apology and were told that there would be no charge. We'd had a lovely day in Whitby but this was a disappointing end to it.

Disappointing! The restaurant itself is quite nice inside however that's where the praise stops unfortunately. The restaurant was cold with may customers opting to keep their coats on, the food was poor, it resembled a 'supermarket curry', and the service was poor too, waiting 40 minutes between our starters and main. I remember this from a misspent youth in Filey when it was known as The American Bar. It is out of the way and most trippers will miss it. That is probably why there were just four locals propping up tha bar when we walked in. They were aimiable enough and happy to share banter and a bit of mickey taking. A nice drop of beer on the bar too. This place won't be for everyone. You probably will find it a bit frosty unless you make the effort. But it's comfortable, has a good range of beers, and you probably won't struggle to find a seat.

We ordered a Brie and bacon burger, what we received was a standard cheeseburger on a slightly burnt pretzel bun… no bacon, no Brie and no coleslaw. We also ordered a ham salad on brown with salad, again no coleslaw and a single thin slice of ham. Coffee and hot chocolate were great. We bought soft drinks but were offered no glass/ cup so had to share a bottle swigging out of it.

First visit to Betton Farm and what a find.. Beautifully refurbished restaurant/tea room set in the small village. Staff were fantastic , very knowledgeable, very professional and super friendly. Only had a light snack and coffee (cakes made in their bakery are lush) sat looking out the window with beautiful countryside views. Definitely be back for a meal as the menu looks delicious... Fabulous courtyard for those sunny days adorned their bakery/shop selling a delicious array of goodies. Great value for money... And !!!!! They have a cracking little animal farm with some super friendly animals... star of the show the friendly pig... A visit to this gem is highly recommended.
