Gardener's Retreat in Scarborough

We ordered a Brie and bacon burger, what we received was a standard cheeseburger on a slightly burnt pretzel bun… no bacon, no Brie and no coleslaw. We also ordered a ham salad on brown with salad, again no coleslaw and a single thin slice of ham. Coffee and hot chocolate were great. We bought soft drinks but were offered no glass/ cup so had to share a bottle swigging out of it.

Coffee was warm, jacket potatoes very mushy inside with hard skin, salad mainly cucumber, overall for the £23 we paid it was not value for money.

Great stop on our bike ride. Really busy with a good atmosphere and efficient service. Delicious scones. Would be good if there were some bike racks!

Gf Italian chicken .chicken was dry and 12 yes 12 chips think we will go somewhere else next time .portions are very small

Although the service and food is good it is absolutely freezing cold in the cafe unless you're sitting near the log burner

*****Appalling***** horrid service from the lady with blonde hair and glasses behind the counter serving in the restaurant, what a miserable, nasty, unhelpful jobsworth she is, I will never ever go back again, I have been coming here for years and I have spent a small fortune on plants, bbq’s, trees, water features and much more, but never ever again now, I will make sure I tell others not to go again either, absolute disgusting service and she wasted an hour of my time by been an awkward horror, ohhhh and also they literally *always* run out of “meat” by 1pm on the carvery counter, the whole place is a total joke now and not the same place like it used to be…..

We ordered 2 regular carvery lunch today at about 12.30pm. There was only a choice of 2 meats beef or turkey. There was only a small piece of each left. The portions of meat given to us were very small. The roast potatoes were tiny and all were burnt. The other vegetables were cold. The cauliflower cheese was burnt on the top but not cooked, we couldn't cut through the cauliflower it was so hard. We have always been happy with our food here before but I'm sorry to say this was the worst meal we've ever had anywhere.
