I remember this from a misspent youth in Filey when it was known as The American Bar. It is out of the way and most trippers will miss it. That is probably why there were just four locals propping up tha bar when we walked in. They were aimiable enough and happy to share banter and a bit of mickey taking. A nice drop of beer on the bar too. This place won't be for everyone. You probably will find it a bit frosty unless you make the effort. But it's comfortable, has a good range of beers, and you probably won't struggle to find a seat.

This used to be a cracking pub, always on my list when I visit Filey. My wife and I popped in on Sunday and were shocked how unwelcome we were made to feel. Decided just to have a half and were glad. The beer was awful. Will not be back

Having been a Camra member for 30 years++ Never been refused a taster!! In a real ale establishment. This was met with reluctance and an icy reception. We don’t give testers !! “Said the bar man “ He did give one most reluctantly. No tasting notes or small visual jar on bar. Camra affiliated!! Served a pint less the test !! Atmosphere was not friendly or welcoming ..possibly a local establishment where Lager is more readily available.. An update of the premises would improve the ambiance. So back in the day Will not be returning.

We are a married couple and based ourselves at Blue Dolphin taking advantage of a cheap midweek deal there. We did sections of The Cleveland Way in a morning both to Scarborough in one direction and Filey in the other on different days. We are reasonably regular visitors to Filey as are other Family Members who had highly recommended Bonhommes as a hidden away Bar worth finding and they were right. Went in Midweek Afternoons after seeking out on a side street off The Crescent (look for the Bar Lamps outside). Not a food pub as we knew but a delightful few hours spent in clean surroundings, pleasant welcome from different Bar Ladies on consecutive days and really friendly locals whom we / they chatted with happily. Never got chance to go on an evening but believe they do quizzes / karaoke / live bands on selected dates and can imagine those being good nights too. Filey is blessed with other good pubs also for a relatively small resort and Bonhommes is now definitely on that list for us and well worth seeking out we suggest.

Down a side road.. not obviously a pub. Felt quite secret! A local, privately run pub.Traditional. Older furnishings, clean and airy. New grey soft carpets. Pets allowed! Surprised due to the nice clean carpets!Excellent bar. Very very well stocked. Prices.. really good. Not the tourist trap of many places in Filey.Great bar staff. She was really welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.Me and my lad enjoyed a quiet game of cards with friendly chats from others on the bar, and it was a lovely hour in there.Toilets very clean, and fully stocked with towels and soap etc.Although the decor is old inside, it is fitting with a real pub. And I loved it.Worth a visit.. especially on a hot summers day!

CAMRA PUB Unofficial Check Out! As a lone female traveller with 2 dogs who likes a couple of real ales, I check out firstly the beer and the welcome! That’s it...Well, The beer is excellent...Pint of Pippin then IPA both kept well with decent collar and cheap. No food which I like in a pub. Landlord..mmm..could have taken offence he asked me to move to a small table in case large group came in...but this pub relies on drink only so I get it. No offence taken. Sadly a large group didn’t come in. I would hate it if this bar wasn’t here in 2yrs time. It’s Unique. Give it a go. Spotlessly clean, traditional with no food as of Sept 2020. Excellent COVID-19 regime. All in all my 2nd visit and just the same as 1st. I love pubs like this, support them for a pint or 2 otherwise you will just have Weatherspoons and Greene King Pubs if you like real ale... The entertainment comes from the locals in pubs like this. Get your beer, turn your phone off and listen to the conversation...Brilliant!

So my wife and I went into this bar which from the outside doesn’t look like a pub at all, she was duped into going here as if looked into where does Karaoke online beforehand. We went in and were greeted by the bar staff who then proceeded to serve us, the regulars in the bar were welcoming and it’s a dog friendly pub so throughout the evening there were a few pooches popping in too, which was pleasant. The karaoke was one of the strangest I’ve sang at, normally you’ll recognise the majority of song to be sang but not so here, they were pulling out all sorts of numbers, which made for a very entertaining evening. We both consumed a fair amount and decided it was time to retire back to the hotel, we won’t talk about the embarrassment I nearly caused the wife, that’s for close friends and family only. All in all a great pub, warm and welcoming atmosphere and not overpriced, will definitely return next time we are over, thank you to those involved during our visit.

Popped in for a pint on an evening when most of Filey was heaving and found the bar quiet and with an annoying TV with very erratic reception. It was 'no-food Monday'. My partner and I booked a table for Bonhommes for 7pm last night. From the Trip Advisor page we were expecting a lovely meal in a restaurant bar. What we were met with was quite the opposite. The bar was more like a pub from the 80s in desperate need of new carpets and furniture. The staff behind the bar were lovely. However, the young male that was waiting on was a little abrupt. We arrived 30 minutes before our meal for a drink and it's a good job we did. The lad that was waiting on was basically asking people to leave as they had not reserved our pre booked table. Admittedly, the food was amazing. However the service from the waiter was poor (he tipped my salad on me and, despite it being table service, he wouldn't fetch drinks). We also ended up sharing the table for six that the two of us had been sat at with a family of seven next to us as we felt sorry for them having to squeeze around a smaller table. I have no doubts that this place would be lovely to enjoy a few drinks in the evening and as I mentioned, the food was amazing. It was simply the poor service that influenced this review.

Me and my fella came in for a drink and a meal and was very impressed! The staff were friendly and so are the locals. Joe the chef, came and spoke to us about his menu. You can tell from the way he speaks about the food he cooks, that he has a real passion for cooking. I ordered the rack of ribs and it was huge! I even had to take some home! The ribs were melt in your mouth! I can't believe he doesn't charge more for the meals, they are worth twice the price for the amount and quality that you get. There is a very nice selection of drinks to choose from at the bar. The prices of the drinks are very reasonable too. The only thing I would say they need to change, is for them to get a card machine as they only take cash. I will defo be going again.

Its a great place, an old style pub, quite small, but nice, great to take the dog and they serve food, the only gripe we had was we felt a little insulted when we said take a drink for yourself, the bar man said, No your ok, I'll not, thanks, i felt a total fool and thought that if they don't like taking anything, that's fine, have a charity box and put it in there or take 10p, but saying that, makes you feel awful.Yes i took it personally, we thought about leaving after the 1st drink but decided to stay, hubby got served by someone else, he was also offered a drink and was refused. In this day and age it cost nothing to be nice, maybe Bohames should think before upsetting people, still gave them 5 stars for everything else, didn't go back after that 1st night of our stay though, and i will now think twice before saying to anyone else in the future, take one for yourself

Our food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The chef took our orders and explained that he would happily cook other dishes if we could not find what we wanted on the menu. Two of our party of four selected starters. The garlic mushrooms and rustic bread were ample and delicious. Chicken piri-piri was tender and well spiced. We chose four mains. The steak and ale pie was exceptionally good comprising substantial pieces of steak that were well cooked, tasty and tender with light pastry and delicious gravy. The accompanying vegetables and chips were also freshly cooked and very good. My wife chose chicken and mushroom pie in a blue cheese sauce. The generous quantity of chicken was moist breast meat and the delicious sauce actually tasted of blue cheese. We had two pizzas for our other mains. There was a wide choice of toppings and they were freshly cooked. I chose tomato and pepperoni. My pizza was outstanding and compared favourably to those I have enjoyed in Rome. Some of us chose desserts. The chef offered rhubarb or apple crumble and custard in addition to the items on the menu. These were excellent and enjoyable. My granddaughter left nothing of her chocolate sponge and ice cream. I would have no hesitation recommending this restaurant.

From the moment we walked through the door the atmosphere was great and were made welcome by the very friendly staff. We decided to stay for something to eat so Joe the chef came to talk to us and said we could mix and match what we wanted and was very accommodating. When the food arrived it was well presented, hot and very tasty none of us had a bad word about it and was reasonable priced. We enjoyed it so much that we went for another meal on the last night of our holiday and was not disappointed, once again Joe was very accommodating even making a meal that wasn't on the menu. Visited Filey in June and found this pub online as u googled dog friendly pubs. Walked in with our dog straight away felt at home as there were a couple of other dogs in, my other half is into the real ale and was happy to find the pub had a good choice, really good atmosphere to the place. Went back day after for lunch, the portions are massive and the food is all home cooked, really enjoyed our meals. The chef really cares , takes your order personally., you can tell he pride in his food. Recommend to all doggy owners!

Warm atmosphere and good selection of craft and local beers available. Well frequented by local community and always good banter at bar.Owner often on site but bar staff very capable and empowered to solve problems.Dog friendly and separate children s dining area away from bar.Staff all local and knowledgeable about area and events.Pub very clean with good toilet facilities.Food seems good although not sampled.Always a guarantee of other drinkers at bar - not always the case in Filey pubs especially early week off season.

I organised a meeting here for a group of people and from the word go everything was handled very professionally. Eventually there were 16 of us and 6 very well behaved dogs who enjoyed the treats and the fuss made of them. Those of us who ordered food were overwhelmed by the quality and quantity and those who had supper waiting for them at home wished they could join us. The beer as usual was excellent. Would highly recommend

Chef came out to ask extensive questions about requirements for vegetarian in party. Other food acceptable and very reasonably priced. Beer quality was good though cider and lager choice on draft limited. Friendly and traditional pub with wide mixture of local people.

Just popped in for a drink on the last night of my holidays. All I can say really is, beautiful real ales, very friendly staff, jolly locals and great prices. Definitely be coming back when I'm next in Filey. There was a quiz on when I was in and there seems to be loads of other stuff going on, on other nights.

I have used this pub on a number of occasions, the staff are friendly and welcoming and always smartly dressed. The food is tasty, hot and great value for, money as there is plenty of it.I am unsure if the review that starts Vile by Billy W actually went to the correct place, I highly doubt it!Well done to all involved at Bonhommes Bar, we will definitely be back

Food disgusting. Atmosphere unwelcoming. Toilets unbearable. Staff drinking and swearing. Not what you want when you go for a meal. The food was so salty. Inedible actually. Never, ever again.

We live in Filey and we where out with the dogs. Went in for a pint and discovered the kitchen was shut. When jo came in we said we where hoping for food.and bless he put everything on in the kitchen. We had steak pie and I have to say it was very nice .served with veg and chips. Left a good tip for being so obliging. We will be back. X

Visited here 26th October I can honestly say it's the worst service the blonde lady who served was was rude abrupt and miserable.. no customer service skills at all asked if they had wifi got a very blunt and sharp NO was a group of 9 of us and the others had got another drink so I went back to the bar noticed they did cocktails so I ordered a expresso martini and again got a very blunt reply of NO from the same person who then turned and served someone else so after that decided to leave will definately not return
