Would not recommend to order from at all. Ordered for delivery and before ordering I called to see if it was taking the full hour for delivery because I'll put it as collection due to it being 7pm at night already. He said no it will be about 25 minutes - 35 minutes so I said ok placed the order, they have upto one hour to deliver the food even though he guaranteed it wouldn't be longer than 35, after 57 minutes I called to see how much longer as I can collect much quicker to be told no it's not been made yet we still have time to deliver it, I said you are 15 minutes away it won't be here in 3 mins if it hasn't been made? He said just wait madam it will be there. With temporary lights everywhere in crewe as usual I knew this isn't the case, I then said if it's not made yet then please cancel and I can order somewhere else, he said no you have to wait for your food or you won't get a refund and then hung up on me. Every single time I go here in person or order for delivery there's always some sort of issue or rude staff and this is the last time I'll order from there it's awful how they speak to people and they take very long with the delivery. Why say something to please a customer and gain an order if it's not true? Awful customer service.

Went into this place as I was overnight stop in Crewe , the food was great and so was the service all bar one waiter but don’t let the bad apple spoil the orchard ! Couldn’t fault the food very good place to eat and yes I’d go back if I find myself in Crewe again

The best Bhuna I have ever eaten & the service from Raf was exceptional. I cannot recommend highly enough. Outstanding.

I've dined in at this restaurant a couple of times over the years but today I chose to take away. We were not disappointed at all. Both our meals (Bhuna and Korma) were delicious. Fresh produce and well cooked. "Thank you" for a lovely meal. High recommended.

Terrible- gone down hill big time! Second time in the last few months that delivery hasn’t come and when rang up told us sending it now! Then turns up cold! Had to cancel order tonight after waiting 1.30 mins and driver ending up ringing us from over 20 mins away! Ridiculous and shame really as we have ordered from here for years! But after a second time of disappointment we won’t be ordering again

This is the best curry I've ever tasted. The staff were great and packed up what we could not eat. The portions size was amazing and the flavours were fantastic. Will definitely go back again.

Nan bread is disgusting, customer service is terrible. Wouldn’t give me a refund when requested.. i wouldn’t even give my dog this food. Avoid this place!!

Lovely meal food was delicious and good quality meat so tender shohan was very attentive with the service , decor was present overall a lovley evening can't fault and will be back next time in Crewe

I was suggested to this place by my hotel receptionist who said it was the best place in town for Indian cuisine. And it is possibly the finest Indian food I've experienced in a long time. The dishes are beautifully presented and taste terrific. I asked for a recommended dish, and the "old man" suggested a dish and rice to go with it. Once ordered, the food arrives reasonably quickly and I really enjoyed it. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I've now eaten there three times in two weeks, bringing my work colleagues along for the pleasure on one occasion. It's a pity I live over 200 miles away, but hopefully my intermittent work near Crewe will allow me to visit again in the future.

Went to have a meal with my partner after visiting family. Service was good staff keen to attend, but once we were served cleaning and sweeping up commenced around us. I was not given the dish I ordered Gust Podina a dish I have had there many times before after pointing this out I was told the coriander was the mint. No-one forward my query so we paid in full. But will never go back

Brilliant place, madras was nice and spicy.

My husband and I chose this restaurant to have lunch on a Thursday and we were given the best service ever. We had prawn cocktail, lamb biriyani, garlic pilau rice and Shahee. We were delighted to try the flavorful curries. Needless to mention the ambiance of the restaurant agreed with our taste. The staff were quite nice. Would definitely visit this place again to try out its the spicy delicious dishes.

Lovely food. Only issue I had was we paying for bill. I always ask servers if tips go to staff and gentlemen said no, all tips go to owner unless cash is left. Poor show by owner and I would prefer to find somewhere where I know workers are looked after by owner(s). Shame, lovely food

Table for 1 on a Thursday - but the service was excellent. Food was fantastic too, one of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten at. Food tasted fresh and well prepared, presented amazingly. Spice levels in the menu were accurate too. Staff working here all seemed happy and recommended dishes that I haven't heard of and could describe them very well. Drink selection good too and draught cobra tasted good and matched well with food. Glancing into the kitchen and was refreshing to see a clean kitchen with organised sections too. If I'm ever back in the area I will be going back here!

Ordered take away. Chicken Balti - vegetables (onion and peppers) were barely cooked, couldn't eat them. Cheese and garlic Naan was sweaty. Disappointing.

Absolutely loved it. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was quick, onion bhajis freash and crunchy, and curries served in a new way 🤩

Everything about our visit here was just excellent. The staff were warm and welcoming, they went the extra mile with regarding our daughter offering a lolly and a fruit shoot. The food was the best Indian food we’ve ever had. The presentation of the food and taste was sensational. The restaurant itself is lovely and has a great atmosphere. I would say this is the best Indian restaurant in the Crewe / Nantwich area and certainly the best I’ve ever been to. We will definitely be back.

Food used to be really good but the last 3/4 orders were honestly not great but today tops it off. Chicken chatt off the chart spicy and extremely dry, chicken Tikka masala was split and I'm 99% sure the coconut milk used was off overall the curry tastes sour and off. Onion bahji were ok.

Visited here as we stayed in Crewe for the night, thought the food was lovely but felt slightly overpriced for what we got. Very busy so was a little wait on food which is to be expected but the service was good. Can see why it’s a popular place to eat in Crewe

Victims of their own success. Firstly, the food is tasty. Sauces are thick, meat is good quality and food is, overall, nice. Nothing out of this world but nice... however, we ordered a collection for 19:05 and we were still waiting for it 35 minutes later. The restaurant is incredibly busy with people constantly coming in. Those wishing to collect takeaway are squished against the bar while streams of people come in and out as the waiting area seats are all full of people who are waiting for a table. The servers don't apologise, just leave you awkwardly standing there and avoid eye contact. If you ask for an update, you're told "one minute please,mam" and then they walk off, never to be seen again. They were more receptive to my male partner and other patrons who were more forceful with asking for their food but I was left waiting without answers for far too long. They need a MUCH better system. They were still taking orders on the phone while people were waiting up to an hour for their meals in the restaurant and on collection. Their backlog must be immense and I imagine they have a lot of unhappy customers who feel like I do. Food - 8/10 Service - 2/10

The food was great but the experience poor. Ordered online at 1815 for two people with the pick up time of 1905. Arrived at 1900 and wasn’t able to collect the food as it wasn’t ready until well after 1935. No acknowledgment that it was late. Lots of people in the waiting area also waiting for their food too so it seems the restaurant has a problem with their online side of the business and actually handling order volume. Victim of their own success?

Ordered tandoori chicken wasn’t expecting it too be on the bone, as my son had the same meal an hour before me. It was very dry and tasteless, the chips were cremated all crispy like scraps from a chippy. Over all not a great experience at all. Bombay is the best for Indian food in Crewe!

As you can see from the photo, the food was delivered after it had been dropped by the driver or staff, curry split. The grease around the chicken chatt is evidence of the fact this had been packaged a long time ago. Phoned for a replacement (which they agreed at 19:11), it’s now been over 50 minutes with no sign of the replacement. Called for a refund and they advised I need to wait as they are busy and that they will call me back. If delivery states any longer than 60 minutes I would avoid as they just can’t deal with the volume of orders they receive. 60 minutes or less and it’s usually bob on!

I had been a lot of restaurants but passage to India is best.From now I’ll continue.Service is best.Chef is well experienced.I think this is best in this zone.Thank you passage to India ❤️

Was a nice meal. But services was slow

The food was mediocre but it could have been the best food I have ever eaten but would have been overshadowed by the fact that it was piggin freezing. It was a particularly cold night outside but there were people eating with coats and gloves on. One guy even asked for blankets!!!

Wow, the food was delicious lots of flavour, good size portions, there is enough left for lunch tomorrow.

I tried chicken tikka balti but it's toooo sweet.

Had a take out. The food is gorgeous. And we only had 2 currys and 2 pillar rice and it did 4 really good portions.

We ordered a take away from Passage to India via their app and it was absolutely amazing food! I always visit the restaurant with my cousin from Australia every time he is over-he has always said it’s the best tikka masala he has ever tasted !! The food tonight did not disappoint, easy to order via the app and friendly delivery driver. We will definitely be back to have a meal in the restaurant soon! The staff are always so friendly and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere.

I think these people are more interested in money grabbing. Their very bad app said 70 mins. It’s now been nearly 90 and they’ve disconnected their phones so you can’t even find out what’s going on. Disgraceful people. Can’t even set proper expectations.

Usually fantastic, ordered at 6:15pm quoted 1:30hrs for delivery, it’s 8:35pm and still no food and no answer from the restaurant, they’ve taken the phone off the hook ? Very disappointing

We called in for an early dinner having returned to Crewe from London. It is only 5 minutes walk from the station. It was early on a Friday evening. but it was already busy (a good sign). Service was good and the staff look after you well. Our food was excellent from the poppadums through the staters to the main course and sides. The Sag Alloo and the Tarka Dhall were both exceelnt and perhaps some of the best sides we have ever had. Only one problem ... Portions are quite generous and we over-ordered. Such a pity that we just couldn't clear the table. But we will be back!!

I always enjoy coming here. Nans and chips are still great but I’m not convinced about the amount of meat in the curries or the power of the flavour. Last two meals were ‘meh’. I wonder if it’s trading on its reputation a bit. It used to be amazing.

Terrible service, very disappointing food. They sat us on a tiny table of four and there wasn’t enough space to put our drinks on the table, when we asked to move to a bigger table, it didn’t seem to be an option, even though loads of tables where available.

Lovely food. I had my usual lamb vindaloo. The meat was tender with no fat and both the smell and taste were exceptional. The service lacked any energy and it felt like they were going through the motions. Diet coke must have been out of a bottle opened last week as it was flat.

Delivery was prompt and well packaged. Driver very polite. Meal was hot. Great portions and fabulous flavours. The lamb was melt in the mouth. Given extra poppadom and chutney. Thank you. Would highly recommend and will order again soon.

Service was good on the takeaway but the food was below average in our opinion. This was our first time trying this Indian takeaway and it was disappointing unfortunately.

Amazing. Went for Valentine's day 2020 prior to Lockdown. Amazing meal dining in. Ordered today for delivery during lockdown and have to say just as amazing as dining in, really lovely hot meal. Would highly recommend!! Update 26.08.2023 - order takeaways regularly and still cannot fault the food or delivery service. Continue to recommend. A loyal customer.

Best Indian we’ve had in a long time, really tasty!

staying at a local hotel that didnt do meals so decided to visit here. the place was obviously popular. we were sat at a lovely table and service excellent! i have to say the meal was the best ive ever had at an indian restaurant! tasty and plenty of it! the only tiny mistake was putting a straw in my whisky, thats a no-no, but other than that id have to say incredible! will def be back when we visit crewe again!

Walked in looking for an indian resturant near the station. Totally blown away. Restaurant has dishes I have not seen before. Our food was excellent. Service was good and restaurant has a nice feel. Would definitely recommend.

Been in England for 5 years and having eaten at many good Indian restaurants, including Mowgli, I can safely say, A Passage to India rates number 1 on my list for the most authentic Indian food. The waiters are very attentive and the service was quick even though the restaurant was almost full. The only thing I would fault is the fact that the tables are quite close to each other and that doesn't allow for a nice quiet dinner.

We were regular visitors here and came regularly and loved it until the last time we visited. When our meal and peshwari naan breads arrived it looked great and we started to tuck in, unfortunately someone in the kitchen had covered both naan's with salt inside of almond which completely blew out our taste bud's and ruined the evening meal. I know mistakes happen but unfortunately the boss made no effort of compensation us or make it right i any way he simply wasn't bothered, we haven't been back since as we feel this is very poor customer service and we felt undervalued.

This was a takeaway delivered to me just a day ago, the order was late and cold. I rang to complain and was met with abuse and the person who answered the call telling me he would like to beat me up. The supposed manager rang me back, he was exceptionally rude but did offer to recook the meal and have it delivered within 20 minutes. I declined his offer as I was afraid his staff would spit in it.....this was based on his attitude and that of his member of staff who threatened to assault me. Avoid this place, they have no idea of customer service, they are arrogant,nasty and threatening, go elsewhere. The takeaway ended up in the bin.....where this place should be!

We were driving from Edinburgh to London. We stopped in this place since it was close to Motorway. This restaurant looks pricey for that city compared to London and the food quality was not so gr8. We are of Indian origin so no we how authentic Indian food will taste. On top of this behaviour of the person who served us was pathetic. We told him we are from London and asked him which is the nearest city to Crewe. He thought we are foreigners still and explain the UK and its 4 countries etc. Later when we asked for dessert he no desserts and he said Ran out means Ran out. I think restaurant owners should train people how to behave.

Our naan,rice and samosas were fine.The Butter Chicken was ok, but really should be called Butter with just a bit of Chicken...it was swimming in sauce,as was my Paneer. Anyhow, my Paneer Kashmiri was disgusting...so salty it was inedible. Rang to tell them and was offered a replacement,but I declined because my partner had nearly finished his and at least I could eat the naan and rice. I asked for a refund for my Kashmiri only, which was fair I think,but was told because it was very busy it wasn't possible and the boss would call me back. (So if I'd had a replacement meal,who knows how long I would've waited!!) That was Friday and today, Sunday, of course no-one has bothered to call me back. Disappointed and won't be ordering again.

Visited Crewe for work purposes having left about seven years ago . Thought I’d grab a Takeaway from Passage after eaten in the past there and had many takeaways (100’s) . I used to rave about it … not anymore . Had a Pathia which used to have a certain Umami . Not anymore . Flavourless hot meat . Whatever happened !

Had to wait over 1 hour 30 minutes for my food to be delivered, it was cold. The food when I warmed it up was spot on. They just need to be a little quicker with delivery and make sure you get your food warm

Took 2 and a half ours to geymy delivery and it was stone cold, £40 down the drain!

Awful full stop. Flavourless. Not authentic at all. So tastless and didnt even have a halal certificate to prove their meat was Halal. Drinks were flat despite it being changed. Just terrible service overall, would never return if my life depended on it. Didnt even ask for a complimentary doggie bag. Stick to Manchester for a PROPER Indian restaurant

Great food, preparing for our India trip. Prawn dish with mushroom bhaji no effect on blood sugars so well chuffed. Keep off the rice and naan for a fresher experience. Would have been 5 stars but for a mistake with the bill they tried to over charge us. The non diabetic thought her naan and rice were wonderful

Excerlent experience with great staff.

Absolutely awful service. We waited half hour and had to remind the staff we were still waiting for our poppadums, despite tables that arrived after us getting theirs. It was 2 hours before we got our mains. We kept getting told it was next on the trolley.

Decent Indian menu with great atmosphere and good service.

An expensive outlet where the food has been ok but last night was dreadful. The prawns were miroscopic and could barely notice them. Meat appeared to have been frozen and defrosted as was just tasteless and mushy. Felt a bit sick after eating it so threw most of it in the bin and cost £28. Sent request to the e-mail assocaited with refunds and as expected no reply.

The service is so pathetic in this restaurant, beyond imagination. Waiter/ attender attitude and behaviour is so so rude - he says , “you got to order all drinks, starters , main course in one go as he has other things to do and he is very busy. He cannot come again and again.” That too when there is only 3 tables occupied including us. Other waiter/ attender comes and talks and within 5 mins he asks 5 time about - whether we have order main course or not in advance along with Starters. Rude behavior, ill mannered, no customer service is the motto of this restaurant. I would request all that when you go please check at the counter before hand about their policy of serving food - As per them, its their policy to take all the orders in one go as they all are very busy in empty restaurant with some or other work!!! No complains about quality of food and ambience !! Pretty satisfactory !!! Think more than twice before visiting this restaurant !!!!

If you like Indian food, good service, prompt and hot delivery, and don’t like arguments then this is NOT the place to go. I called to give feedback after me and my Indian friend found everything inedible. Ali (the owner) had the cheek to firstly ask if I was from Indian decent (racist and unnecessary), then told me I’d ordered the wrong combination of meals and continued to repeat himself saying I should have complained the same day even though they were closed at that point (2 hours late). Rubbery paneer, soggy bread, stale popadoms and do they even know what sauce is? Was just mush. A waste of £42. Was promised a partial refund after I asked Ali to stop being aggressive and repetitive but not happened. DO NOT USE.

Food was beautiful. I felt a little robbed as we had 2 drinks, 2 mains with a rice and small bread. £50.... £15 per main is a lot of money for such a small amount of meat.

Went for dinner. Ordered basic dishes (dal tarka x1, paneer dish x1 and boiled rice x 2), taste was not too great and charged 24 pounds for these basic dishes. Below average experience at a heavy price. Will avoid visiting again.

Took a leap of faith ordering the Meal for 2....for myself, because i'm literally a pig. I'm not very good with Indian food in terms of knowing what's what, so i'm leaving this review so you can see what's included. For my fellow pigs, or decent, normal humans who will share this meal between themselves. Decided to photograph each thing for those who may be like me, aka not familiar with what these dishes are. Hope this helps. I tackled the Mixed platter first which was gorgeous, I normally order from the 'Jalfrezi' restaurant and order their Meal for 1 there. It normally arrives luke-warm but THIS delivery was piping hot! Good job Passage! I knew right away the quality of the ingredients were quite significantly better when demolishing the platter. I was concerned with this Special Pilau Rice as one other review mentioned it had full broccoli florets in and some other 'frozen vegetables' in, but this wasn't really the case at all. To be honest...it's a friggin curry; the rice is going to be showered in gloop, so the rice was fine to be honest. The chicken Pakoras were ok, I've never had them before. Kind of like a more dry chinese chicken ball if you will. The 'left' curry which I believe to be the Chicken Tikka Bhuna had a lovely warm spice, not too hot, but pleasant. It had a full bay leaf in a a large chunk of pepper, good ingredients and I wolfed it down. Spicy pallete after. The second curry [on the right of the image of 2 curries attached] was much more mild, I should of had this first to be honest. By this stage I was reaching critical levels in the Full-Department so I couldn't really point out any tasting notes. Next time i'll have this one first. It wasn't horrible or anything, I was just on auto-pilot at this stage. I took a stab at the Sag Aloo but after two curries I was pretty much down for the count, after munching on spinach, I was like....yeah I should really stop this. So naturally I moved onto the poppadoms. Great chutneys! Orange and err...maybe sweet chilli? The yellow one was good, I never know what it's called. I ditched the onion one because eugh. There was ANOTHER one which was disugstingly sour, and had large chunks in. It made me gag and i've had some gnarly stuff before. I enjoyed this for 'dessert' though. Overall I would buy it again when I feel like I need a gut-buster, let it be known I was in severe pain for a few hours tonight but it was worth it! Because I was an absolute pig, not due to any wrong doing of course. £30 for this amount of high quality curry is pretty amazing. I would prefer if I could to have 'that' bright-red-Dulux-paint Chicken Tikka Masala instead of the mild curry on the right [of the 2x curry image] but I would imagine they would not exchange this if I asked? (Hello Owners if you're reading?? :) ) Thanks Passage to India, you'll be hearing from me again. The passage tomorrow will certainly be an experience..if ya know what I mean! Whey!!

What another fab evening at the Passage to India. 10 of us went last night. It was packed out but we were served with drinks on arrival and were served with our meals within a reasonable time considering how busy they were and how many of us. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and good portions, infact enough for me to bring home for dinner today. A first class restaurant,

We went here for my son in laws birthday. There were 25 of us in the party & were shown to our table. This is what I have given the 1 star for, from here it went downhill. The food took just under an hour to arrive, but we did have poppadoms to keep us fed (we found out that they were £5.50 for 4 when we went to pay) The food arrived, but tasted very sweet & didn't taste as I'd had previously from other establishments, but I thought it was their twist on things. Just after we had finished, a member of staff came over & told us that we had to pay & leave as other people were waiting to eat. We had spent hundreds of pounds between us to be ushered out as quickly as possible after we'd eaten. One of our party hadn't finished his drink when said member of staff told him that he "had to leave". As we were waiting outside the same member of staff came out & told us that 2 of our party hadn't paid & that we had to settle the bill in full, he was extremely rude & quite forceful in his approach to us. We told him that we had paid & that it was up to him to find the people that "hadn't paid". He didn't like this & asked us back into the restaurant, which we refused. He then sent another staff member out to tell us to pay, he was a little calmer in his approach. I told him that 3 people had paid before me & had they checked this, so he went back in & miraculously found the extra money. There was no apology, or remorse for accusing us of not paying, the most rude staff & worst customer service I have ever encountered. They are very lucky that you can't give them no stars for this review. We spent hundreds of pounds in there to be treated as cattle.

Shocking. Poor service by rude staff. Family were celebrating a 40th birthday and spent in region of £500/£600. Told to leave tables when we still had drinks to finish. Final insult when they accused us of not paying bill in full. Then they found the missing receipt and tried to apologise but by then the damage had been done. Very aggressive and spoiled a good family celebration.

Went here tonight 29-04-23 for my brother in laws 40th birthday, in a party of 25 people. Staff were extremely rude.After still having a drink left to drink, the staff were trying to hurry us up and told us they needed the table now.After paying...

Iv ordered food over 2 hours ago and still not here I no it’s a Friday but seriously an I absolutely love the food from here but they do need to improve on the delivery and they need to hire more drivers

We were a bit rushed at the beginning when we went in the curry we ordered, which turned out extremely hot and spicy. we originally thought they had changed the recipe but had to ask in the end, and they had got ours mixed up. we then had to ask again on paying as the manager didn't seem very interested he did, however, refund some of the meal, but we didn't enjoy it, and when we paid, they weren't particularly bothered as we left .The rice was lovely and naan .
