Sunday roast. Excellent service,staff friendly, huge portions, very tasty. Cannot fault. Will definitely return again.

I ordered gammon and the chicken wings never again the gammon was dry and salty and the wings were extremely dry my partner ordered the mac and cheese tasteless he left most of it would Not recommend

I personally think cats should be allowed in pubs. It stares at you when you’re eating and has even jumped on the table before. It’s digesting and unhygienic.

Nice atmosphere but menu very limited. Dont even offer a club sandwich which should be a staple in any pub/restaurant. Service was quick but yet to taste the 🍲

Great Sunday lunch , great pint ! Surprised to read this mixed reviews on here , we had a good experience on the Sunday we visited.

Had the Sunday “Roast” Beef was overcooked - I ate at 13:25 so I was not expecting the dried out carvery that I received. The “roast” potatoes were at best just boiled and browned - does the chef know how to roast potatoes? The bought in Yorkshire pudding was cooked to a crisp and beyond edible The worst Sunday Roast I have ever experienced

Five years is enough time to improve; surely? So 60 months on and still the food is awful. 60 minutes before one of the three main courses arrived; and it was cold. Sent that back, another main course arrived; yep, it was cold, so was sent back. The burger was okay, but the bun was close to stale. Oh, and no Yorkshire puddings either as the kitchen had "Issues", which is probably the only truth we were told Staff were okay, but clearly lacking in direction, training and leadership. The duty manageress, was ghost like when I was trying to complain. We were offered free desserts, one was dire, one was poor, and the third, was not what was ordered. If you think of how good this place could be, then it just highlights its inadequacies. Needs investment in it's staff and an upgrade on a pretty limited and basic menu.

Had a couple of drinks and a meal in here, nice and friendly staff. I liked that you can order on your phone from your table and they bring it to you. The food was good , we had a couple of burgers which were nice but not sure about the brioche buns, they were weird but overall nice food, had chicken wings which were nice and crispy but moist at the same time. And chocolate brownie and a sticky toffee pudding after which were lovely. We’d definitely eat here again

Spent an evening in the accompanying lodge. Asked about food at 9.21 to be told ‘the kitchen closed in 8 minutes and wouldn’t be pleased’ only ordered a nachos. A style over substance delivery that was inedible. Burnt cheese to the side of the dish, over loaded with toppings meaning the removal of nachos impossible…. Many tables full of abandoned pizza and fries upon arrival should have signified a clearing warning flag perhaps… staff behind the bar less than understand, however the flower staff smiling and pleasant.

Excellent food, friendly, efficient staff, great atmosphere. Beautifully presented food and cooked to perfection. Great decor too.

Great value for money breakfast. If you are looking for a Sunday morning place to serve up a full English look no further. Better still they will give you black pudding at no extra cost. Better still you can get a cereal starter with a tasty yogurt side and a refreshing juice for no extra cost. This breakfast treat is great value for money and opens early enough so you can get on with your Sunday. Goodness knows that you need to leave plenty of time in the day to sit around doing nothing so getting filled up on a FULL English before you embark on such endeavours requires an earlier start than other places allow. Great service, great value and great food.

Popped in for a pint with a pal. There’s a reasonable-sized garden with plenty of seating so we plonked ourselves down there and had a catch-up over a Guinness.

Honestly the food here is really terrible. I have met friends here (for their convenience) multiple times over the last year and every time the food is awful. They no longer have any sort of lunch menu, so I ordered a soup from the specials menu. This hot and sour chicken noodle soup lacked depth or flavour, and was just a few bits of chicken and tinned sweetcorn with some instant noodles still clumped together in the bowl. No spring onion or chilli or anything fresh in there. It was served with a substantial bread roll (no butter etc with it.). Its really hard to get something like this so wrong. It indicates complete lack of care. My friends dishes were also similarly awful. By all means drop in for a drink as the venue is quite pleasant if you are in the area, but I would advise going somewhere else for any sort of food.

This is the 2nd family birthday celebration this month….both visits were fantastic. Tonight’s visit was a great night with excellent food and service…thank you! Lucy, was a great waitress, she had great banter and kept the drinks flowing. The food was pretty quick and everything was hot and tasty with very generous portions so all the teenagers were fully satisfied. A great local pub restaurant, whether it’s for a family meal or a round of drinks in the garden, it’s a great place to visit. I personally recommend the Mac N Cheese or the Nachos 😍

I went in on a week day at 9pm, at 9.50pm ordered a second drink was rudely told to drink it quick as they were closing at 10pm, really?

As local to us and while shopping nearby popped in this pub merely for a pint. It’s a Thwaits pub, unusual in southern England. Been here before about a year ago and the beer wasn’t too good. Anyway I chose possibly their strongest ale- 4.1% ! Wife had half bitter shandy. Both were utterly awful and couldn’t be fully consumed. Pint was £5-10! Pub far too noisy with screaming kids. We left as soon as we’d had the drinks. Pub attached to a lodge & hotel so likely more visitors than locals. No more visits there for us. Far better to visit the Gate craft pub where that fiver could get you decent beer. Sometimes.

Whole restaurant smelt very bad of urine, it seemed to be coming from the disabled toilet, most tables were dirty. Also main toilets to the left of bar had poo, blood and sick on the floor, walls, urinals were blocked and they also absolutely stunk! 4 members of staff just stood having a conversation, no one checking on tables, dirty plates not cleared and customers not looked after.

Mediocre food. Poor service. Very rudely told us we had to leave at 10pm as no under 18s allowed after that time. If we had known that from the start would have gone elsewhere as we were specifically there to catch up with family from New Zealand who we haven’t seen for over 15 years - kids included! Completely ruined our evening. Would not return :-(

how very unwelcoming is this place, not a smile or a welcome, I ordered 4 cokes 2 diet cokes were asked for with no ice and lemon, what did we get ice and lemon, I asked the server to remove the ice and boy oh boy did her attitude change, she became very abrupt and slammed down the drink, my granddaughter need to use the bathroom to change her daughter, the changing facilities were in the disabled toilet, oh my gosh how very disgusting are these, I have no idea when they were cleaned last but it wasn't in the past 24 hours. the floor was dirty and very smelly, the pan was stained. the sink was unusable, she was not impressed. The tables at the entrance were vacant but had not been cleaned, they had stains on and were very sticky, we used the garden, before we had finished our drinks a young boy kept walking around the tables as if he wanted us to move, he was not dressed in a very appropriate shoes as they were white with the laces undone, i feel really disappointed in my visit not again will i visit

I often come here for a pint if I have a day off or take my parents here when they visit. The place has a nice atmosphere and can be lively but also more intimate they always have football and sports on wich I like....

Came in tonight with my family and thoroughly enjoyed both the service and also food. Good selection on offer for drinks, very Covid friendly, happy staff members and the sharing plates were extremely worth the price. The kids offering was a 3 course for under £10 and the portion sizes were very generous. Well done to all those involved and we will be returning.

The staff are in-attentive and rely on the new ‘order from the table’ app If you want to be served in a timely manor go elsewhere I was staying in the hotel and wanted a local easy meal Wednesday 16th sept 7.10 pm..I waited 25 minutes AFTER BEING SEATED BY A STAFF MEMBER WHO PROVIDED ME WITH A MENU and in all that time despite asking 2 members of staff who were clearing tables to be served nobody came over. You aren’t allowed to go to the bar .. but believe me I did after waiting for so long. While walking somewhere decent for dinner I called the hotel who were apologetic and took my details and promised the bar manager would call me the next day and arrange something for me .. 2 days later I’m still waiting to hear from him.Try the holiday inn if you’re staying in the area

Food was extremley expensive. The table was very very sticky when they put us to sit around it. And it wasn’t cleaned. The waitress didn’t really know anything about anything. The portion was only positive. I understand there’s Covid about but we couldnt even pay at bar we had to download an app on our phone using our own usage as wifi wasn’t great. Would never eat here again.

Stayed a Solent Lodge which is attached to this restaurant. Intended on a staycation after the lock-in period. Decided to stay at this location for a few nights to visit Marwell Zoo and Peppa Pig World with my wife and two young children. Arrived on time to Check-In to be told the computers had gone down so waited 45 mins to book in with two tired young children. Room is basic and air con is unfit for purpose. Pre booked The Parsons Collar prior to arrival as per Covid instructions. On both occasions on arriving at the Restaurant they had no record of our reservation. One day they asked for details for track and trace and second they did not. Strange as booked into their Hotel. The Restaurant has a very basic menu. Payment for food has to be taken at time of placing order or they require your bank card (very strange). The staff mainly comprises of teenagers who appear like children who are being forced to work. No humour or care for children - no crayons etc offered. Service took 30 mins to be offered a drink - starters served without cutlery or napkins. No please or thank you at all. On the food front the starter where just about acceptable. One night we went for Pizza and as a family we agreed this was the worst pizza we had ever had. There was no crust or scorching and it appears they cook numerous margarita Pizzas and just place either ham/pineapple or jalapeños/pepperoni on the already cooked pizza. Below standard. Avoid at all costs. Best to travel for food if you are staying at the Hotel or Lodge

Unfortunately other options weren't available at short notice for our get together so we ended up visiting here. A few issues on arrival, which although we appreciate the Covid restrictions venues are operating under, wasn't handled particularly well in our opinion. Service by the staff was prompt and friendly, a positive. Apart from that not a lot to recommend, food and drink average and over priced and having read with interest the comment about the manager I couldn't agree more. The hospitality industry is and has suffered badly recently and you'd like to think they would welcome people wanting to spend money but that certainly was not the case here. Despite the published closing time of 11pm we were refused a drinks order at 10:15pm because we were told "we're now closed". No warning was given by anyone and when politely asked the manager why he was rude and aggressive and ordered us to leave. If I was the brewery I'd be asking serious questions as to why my pub was being run this way especially given the current economic climate. There is a lot of choice locally and I for one would strike this place off my list.

Popped in after an afternoon activity for a drink and some snacks. We were greeted at the door by the manager who explained the Covid measures in place and advised that we could dine at any table so long as we vacated 15mins before the next booking was due (times were displayed on each table). We ended up ordering a few pizzas, starters and sides between the 7 of us. The food arrived quickly, piping hot and all was delicious. We used the app to order food and had table service too, all was great.Well organised and an overall great dining experience. Thank you

We pre booked an outside table for 8.30pm this evening. Upon arrival we were told there were no tables available by the barmaid. I questioned this and asked to speak to the manager. The manager stomped over with an immediate attitude and said there were no tables available for us. I explained we had pre booked one, which he questioned, I then showed the screenshot of the booking and the response from Ben (who happens to be the general manager I was speaking to). At this point he jumped on the defensive and said as I'd raised my voice he would not allow us in anyway. He was rude, confrontational and completely unprofessional.How can you book a table and then be told it's no longer available without any explanation or apology?! I'll be taking this complaint further as his actions were a disgrace!

We have made many visits to the Parsons Collar and always find it to be a warm and welcoming place to visit. The bar staff and manager are always very friendly and they welcome dogs too, which is a bonus. I’d definitely recommend a visit.

Come here several times now both for drink and food.

Avoid this place at all cost! Ordered their overpriced club sandwich, which eventually came to me, after chasing, cold and char-grilled (burnt). Chips were also cold, and they seemed to think this was acceptable?! This is the second time I have made the mistake of going there with my work colleagues, and both times the food and the way in which we where treated has been appalling! There is now one saving grace to this, which is we have all (15 of us) decided to eat in Whiteley center from now on. Message to the establishment.. Sort your kitchen and customer services out, else you may find yourself struggling to fill those seats. I personally will not step foot in this establishment again, and i will make sure to spread the word.

I booked a meal here for my mums birthday, staying at the Solent hotel and spa it was an obvious choice just across the road. Now wish we had chosen somewhere in whitely shopping centre. The menu is limited, the service poor. Not at all busy for a Sunday night yet so slow to serve and waitress rude when we asked her to clear our table. Overpriced for the standard of food. Would not visit again.

Visited this pub on Sunday after a day out. We rang to book a table an hour before arriving - 4 adults and 2 boys aged 8 and 12 - booked table for 5.30pm. We arrived and were shown to our table and then went to buy some drinks. Then the trauma started! We went to order food from what was actually quite a limited menu - nothing wrong with that normally. However, first of all the spaghetti bolognese from the children's menu wasn't available - settled for the pizza. The 3 Hunters Chicken weren't available - settled for 2 x half roast chicken (the last 2 apparently) and a chicken burger. Then were told there was only 1 chicken burger left so one of us had to change to the beefburger. The roast chicken was insipid and didn't look at all appetizing. The pizzas were also pale and uninteresting. Basically all they had to offer was pizza and jacket potatoes on a Sunday evening - it seems that a delivery hadn't arrived or something. Well they had at least 2 opportunities to tell us before we sat down that the menu was limited but didn't bother. Staff were pretty unhelpful and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

The Parsons Collar is a nice pub to go to for lunch. It has a good range of food but I tend to favor the club sandwich with Maple bacon. Prices are reasonable.Unfortunately it can get busy at lunch time with people from the local business park who can be quite loud. More than once I've had to ask someone at the next table to watch their language in front of my children when they were F*ing & blinding about something or another at full volume. No fault of the pub though.

Waited nearly an hour for the food when the food turned up I think it had been cooked for an hour. Asked for a medium rare and this turned up. Well done or more

Great find for a local - menu has varied selection and a full pizza range which is cooked in front of you. Really nice touch of an ice cream parlour (although we were too full to take advantage). There was a nice garden although a bit chilly to use on that particular evening. Staff were all very friendly which makes a huge difference.

come here all the time to watch football and rugby on the TV , always bust for the big games so get there early for a seat .

We stayed at the Solway hotel and spa hoping to be able to book in the restaurant as a family group. The hotel restaurant was fully booked and recommended we try the pub across the car park. We tried to book the pub by phone but the phone was not answered. After several attempts we managed to speak with them to be advised they were busy but if we came across they would try and fit us in. (On our arrival the pub did not appear to be too busy).We arrived and were left waiting at the bar for some time to buy drinks and arrange a table and also when booking food.The person who appeared to be the manager came across as being aloof and rude and had no regard for his customers. In fact he seemed more intent on speaking with what appeared to be a few drinking locals.The staff were vague and appeared to have to refer to "the manager" for any queries put to them. Whilst they fit us in we were shown three small tables (to accommodate 8 adults and 3 children). Due to the children we decided to take the booking but it was far from satisfactory. The food left a lot to be desired with quality less than I would expect for normal pub food, insufficient choice for healthy options(away from fried / convenience foods) or vegetarian options. Service was slow and muddled. The whole place lacked any sort of atmosphere and certainly not welcoming. I would suggest you steer clear of this one - it spoilt our weekend away!

Visited the Parsons Collar on Sunday evening with my husband and two young children and wow, we loved it! We had starters and mains and the children had 3 courses all came out in very good time, all very tasty and nice portion sizes, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us! To top it off the children had a visit to the ice cream parlour for desert - it looked amazing, the children loved it and a brilliant idea with the summer holidays coming up. We are new to the area so will definitely be returning again very soon!

We travelled as a family to celebrate my Grandsons 2nd Birthday, staying at the Lodge at Solent next door and visiting Peppa Pig World. As my Grandson is only 2 we all decided it would be good to eat so close to the hotel and as there is a garden it would be ideal. How wrong can you be? The food was ordered and we sat down to wait. The starters that some of the party ordered were brought to the table quite quickly along with two of the parties main order. The waitress asked if it would be ok to bring all the mains and we agreed. Thirty minutes later we were still waiting. We went to check on the food and a waitress came to the table apologised saying the remaining order had been missed and it would be further 20 minutes. We offered a free round of drinks as compensation. When the meals arrived my husbands fish was accompanied by very few chips, my Philly Cheese Steak bore no resemblance to any Philly Cheese Steak I had had before and my daughters jacket potato with cheese had the smallest amount of cheese possible. This was sent back. The next one had more cheese but was stone cold and was grey. I think it was the same potato with extra cheese added. It was inedible. My daughter complained to the manager, (see her review), and he was most unhelpful, grudgingly agreeing to refund my daughters bill. As we moved to the garden I stopped to speak to the manager who was talking with the staff about my daughters complaint saying ‘she’s going to review on tripadvisor’ quite unconcerned, I voiced my complaint, to which he was very arrogant and his only comment was OK to everything I said. The other staff were lovely and were put in an impossible position by the bad management. The whole experience was not what we hoped for to celebrate a birthday and the attitude of the manager was not acceptable.

Came here for a few drinks and some dinner with friends, the staff are fantastic, such a friendly atmosphere! Food was great too the new menu looks great can’t wait to come and sample some more dishes soon!

Staying at the hotel (The Lodge at Solent)for my sons 2nd birthday trip to Paultons Park, booked a table for dinner for 7 people all booked fine- that’s where the good part stops!!!

Only ate here because the restaurant in the Solent hotel doesn't open until 18.30. Whilst the menu is quite extensive, and service was quick, food very average in taste. Also went to order pudding but the queue at the bar was quite long!

A busy pub grub place with too many TV's offering basic fast food, uninspiring to say the least. Friendly young staff doing their best.

Myself and a friend visited for lunch. The pub had lots of spaces to sit. Nicely decorated throughout. Very clean. Menu was good we opted for a sandwich. The grilled chicken and bacon sandwich was tasty and freshly made. Reasonably priced too Would return again

We went on here for lunch while working in fareham. I'm glad we did I such a nice place with friendly staff. Workshop ordered a beer and a meal. Didn't have to wait long for it to come out. I had a jacket potato I must admit it was one of the best I have ever had. So tasty.

Nipped in for the first, and indeed the only time for lunch. I ordered their signature dish, The Parsons Burger. which promised melted cheese and crispy bacon in the description. It was AWFUL. the burger was tasteless, we had to send out a search party for the cheese (we never found any) and the bacon had been wafted over a naked flame for about a nano second, it was that poor. The chips were cold.

Sent first one back as was cremated second was disgusting Chicken on kebab bland Taziki was mint sauce seriously need to look at their catering

Great little pub, we popped over as we were staying in the hotel. Bar staff were brilliant great service. Outdoor seating area good loads of room so not on top of each other. Will deffo go back when we are down again.

Arrived quite late just as the kitchen was closing, but they made our meal and it was very good. Nice atmosphere.

This is just around the corner from my partner's home and we love it here. Sharing platter and nachos always our choice. Friendly, clean and nice atomosphere.

Was staying at Solent Hotel for work on my own so ate here for convenience. Overall nothing really to complain about. had wings and the burger. All grand although thought the blue cheese dressing for wings served in paper cup a bit tacky. But food itself nice and prices ok. I would recommend this place if staying onsite and you don't wish to travel to eat/drink but wouldn't go out of my way for it. The only thing that irked was when I asked waitress who delivered food for another drink and was told she couldn't serve and I had to go to bar which was busy and entailed a wait while food went cold. Small issue but a little irritating.

Just an average pub for drinks, nothing special. We visited this place as it is closer to our office. Good for drinks after work, a different location than the restaurants in Whiteley Shopping Centre. Same prices as everywhere for a pint of beer.

We asked the Parsons Collar for a small area for a family birthday. The staff were very accommodating and helped make it a great afternoon!

I was staying at the Lodge hotel so visited here most nights and also for the continental breakfasts. Staff very welcoming and friendly.

My partner and I booked for a night. After I long flight we ordered and ate here. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The lady with the red hair who served our food was fab. Very attentive. Food hit the spot. Chicken club was delicious, and loved the chicken wings and blue cheese. Toilets spotless. Bar area fantastic. Clean and nice decor. Will recommend and return.

I have been a resident of Whiteley for 2 decades and at one time this was our "local" and many who live here might say the same..unfortunately with the growth of the Solent Business Park that feel and ambiance has changed dramatically.

Average food, nice garden to sit in, staff friendly enough, nothing special. Prices average but not amazing. Wouldn't choose to eat here over anywhere else and there are better places to eat locally.

I met some old work friends last night and brought my family along. The layout of the pub allowed for the regular and guest clientele to sit around the bar and us with my 3 and 5 year old to seat ourselves away from them. It worked out really well. The staff were helpful and the food arrived hot to the table. Each plate looked fresh and tasty. The home made children's cheeseburger looked particularly good. Usually It looks like it's from a packet from Iceland but this was succulent. Most every e had the Philly steak burger and all enjoyed it. I had the club sandwich, they even asked how i wanted my bacon. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that it felt the prices were just a touch too much. But that said everything was lovely. The icing on the cake was the ice cream desert part of the children's 2 course meal - 3 scoops and toppings and the ice cream was of a food quality.

Have visited this quite lively pub before to watch the world cup games this summer, though there isnt a great range of food, i must say that myself and the family have enjoyed every meal so far. Thoroughly recommend the Nachos people!

Great little pub/restaurant food was lovely and kids loved the ice cream parlour. Kids menu great value for money. Service was a little slow hence the 4 rating instead of 5. Overall very pleased and would deffo eat here again.

This pub is really modern with a traditional twist, large open fire. Menu comprehensive. Chicken wings and sweet potatoes fries lovely. Highly recommended.

Having been here in March and on that occasion a pleasant experience, the visit two days ago was completely different. Our meals took nearly 50 minutes to arrive at the table. The chicken in the club sandwich was very dry and tough , so inedible! We were going to persevere and have puddings however, after our plates were not cleared from the table 20 minutes after we had finished. On leaving I told the bar staff of our disappointing experience. I was told the manager was not there , and would I like to send an email to him and was given the details. I sent the email early yesterday morning, outlining the lunchtime events. Still waiting for a response.

I eat on my own but noticed that there was a wide range of people enjoying themselves here. Families were welcomed. The food was good and service efficient. I liked the ice cream bar -something a bit different for me

We had a lovely evening meal as part of our stay at the Lodge at Solent. Excellent service despite a small-to-medium sized reception going on. Food was very nice. Nice garden and great atmosphere. Beer selection is limited but this is more of a restaurant than a pub. I willdefinitely go back.

This place serves up typical chain style pub food. Burgers and chips, fish and chips, chicken and chips, pizzas etc. So - nothing inspired, but (in theory) should be okay.

As it’s local I pop in occasionally. Ate there about six weeks ago. Food was a disgrace- took both plates back and they revoked them. Much better that time but why not in the first place? Table near us also sent something back. It wasn’t even busy so no excuses.

Very quiet on the Sunday evening when we visited, so no excuse for failing to clear the empty plates that lay around for the whole time we were there.

Having visited the parsons collar on numerous occasions with work colleagues,always finding the service fast and reliable,the staff are helpful and friendly,food is always top notch,highly recommended.

The bar has always been a popular venue for people working on the Whiteley business park as it is handy place for a quick drink and/or meal after work. I recently visited the bar to say farewell to a work colleague who was leaving for a new job. We booked a table for ten of us to eat, however, I have to share that i was really disappointed with the table service and the quality of the food. There was a long wait for the food to arrive which possibly could have been avoided if we had been given the option to pre-book our meals. I ordered the BBQ Chicken burger which arrived dry and tasteless. The chips served with my meal were also cold. Overall I felt that the service was pretty average, the kitchen clearly couldn't cope with a table of ten people and the meals were pricey for what you got. It is such a shame that this pub has not kept the great reputation that it used to have. I hope things get better in the future

This is my local pub so I really want to like it, but I just can't. From my many visits (I really, really want to like it) two main issues I've noticed:

Arrived for a bite to eat and a quick drink. Atmosphere was ok, decor was nice. Service wasn't special. Food was ok. Bit pricey for what you got and took a while even tho place was empty. Probably wouldn't return.

Visited this bar and had the delightfull Lucinda advise me of the best burger I've ever had 10/10 woukd recommend

tried to discuss a matter with the manager with regards to our order and he was unbelievably rude. wouldn't even look at us whilst making the complaint and was watching the tv. wont be going back.
