Parkside Restaurant in Bromley

Been a happy customer for years, but unfortunately will be going somewhere else for our Chinese. Don't know what's happened to Parkside. It use to be one of the best in town, but the quality and flavour has gone right down hill. It just taste cheap and bland. No longer enjoyable.

Have ordered from here quite a few times but last night was poor. Smaller portions than usual for same or higher prices. But the main thing was the chicken balls were very underdone. Several were still quite pink and the batter inside on most of them was still soggy - which was pretty disgusting. First time I’ve never finished dough balls! Will be going elsewhere next time

Ordered takeaway many times from here, clearly states on their website over £25 you get free prawn crackers over £45 you get free soft drinks. Not once did we get any!! When questioned it seems they decided for us that we don’t want any of those because we are Chinese?! But they are given to anyone who are not Chinese, without a single question. Not bothered about the actual crackers nor soft drinks. But the principle here… rather discriminating, especially to your own people.

Great Chinese. Bit on the pricy side compared to others but is very nice.

Always a quick delivery and very hot tasty food, best Chinese I’ve found since moving to Orpington.

Always amazing food and service

Half our table had their starters and mains before the other half had their starters. Then had the cheek to add 15% service charge.

We ordered a takeaway from this place back in May and it was really good. Either they have a new chef or under new management because our takeaway today was simply awful! The crispy seaweed and salt and pepper squid starters were the only decent dishes. All three main dishes were awful and ended up in the bin. Very disappointed. Will not be ordering from here again

food was dreadful! soggy spring rolls, hardly any spring onion to accompany duck pancakes. sweet and sour chicken lacked any quality and all of the food was cold. Quite possibly the worst chinese takeaway I have eaten in the local area. Will not be ordering from here again

Food was hot and delicious. Delivery was extremely quick and made by a very pleasant driver.

Quality of the food and customer service was bad

Don't order Lemon Grass Sticky Chicken. It's a disappointment, no lemon glass flavour. Actually, there is no taste at all. Just loads of salt. Waste of money.

The Salt and Pepper Tofu that was recieved today has too much salt in it compared to the usual that we normally get. The aubergine is uncooked. Only the chicken balls with sweet and sour is okay. Delivery was on time.

Really unhappy about our Chinese. The chicken wasn’t cooked properly was powdery and tasteless. It’s a shame because we used to like this Chinese but will not be ordering again.

Went there to celebrate our sons birthday and have to say everything was so delicious and the service was really good. Cannot wait uo go again.

Very disappointed ! Used to come here every week or take away. Basically, Nearly all the food here were prepared food or from Factory. They just warm them up . Believed that they do ‘pickled food ‘ in the back of kitchen and used as material of the dishes because they were last long life time. No chef needed. The food does taste same and bad all in dark sauce. The food delivered to the table with a lots water and over salted indeed.Bad for your health. Only eat as you were hungry desperately, please never consider this is authentic cuisine of Chinese, Actually any general prepared food or factory food will far more been than this. They only choose the cheap basic materials and sell to you with high prices.

I loved the food, the service, and the atmosphere. Would certainly recommend if you are around the Orpington area.

Went for my first visit around Christmas 2023. I have loved the food and the attentive service! Been coming monthly since taking friends and family, would recommend to all! My favourites are the salt and pepper chicken, prawn and deep fried squid.

2 hours and counting Parkside has still not delivered the order. They stopped picking up calls now. I can only think my money is lost to these lowly business. Will not spend my money with them ever again. Be careful

In a time where having a takeaway is a luxury, this did not disappoint, it was definitely money well spent.Everything was fresh, tasty, and the best noodles, my missus has had since being in Kent!

Looks nice food is okay service is okay lady was nice but they seemed short staffed or someone was letting her do all the work.... portions are smaller than my local not great

I booked to take an elderly friend for dinner. Confirmed the booking. Turned up with my elderly Friend and they were closed. Apparently they don't open on a Monday but still accepted my booking. It left me at the door wondering what on earth I was going to do to salvage what should have been a special evening.....

The chow main isn’t the normal chow main it’s the very thin noodles like vermicelli

Wasn't the best. The salt n pepper chicken was dry, the smoked chicken was dry, chow mein was quite bland, king prawn balls weren't great. The rice was tasty and fluffy. But I had to my own sauce from the cupboard because everything was so dry. Didn't make me want to order again.

Food decent and fast delivery. But having signed up they keep sending out promotional txts to my phone that you can’t opt out of . Had to block them.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Orpington. We ordered Tofu, and it was delicious, literally melting. The Pork and Chicken was really nice, it was recommended by the staff. The staff is really friendly. A reasonably priced restaurant must visit.

Very disappointed with the meal last night. The chicken was disgusting. Beef curry wasn't very nice it was too spicy. Grilled dumplings sauce wasn't very nice at all. So overall will never return and wouldn't recommend.

Only used here for takeout, but boy is it good.

Awful experience-september2023 Totally shocked at this restaurant overall. Since moving here in 2021 I’ve always walked past repeatedly telling everyone how much I’d love to try this restaurant one day. Especially with a Chinese being my favourite takeout/eat out. Totally disgusted at the fact we didn’t given menus until about 25 mins after arriving when other people who arrived after us got their menus straight away. After eventually getting our menus and ordering drinks. The drinks tasted so watered down we may as well have just ordered water. We booked this reservation for 6:30pm and got there just before. After ordering food, we still didn’t receive prawn crackers for another 90+minutes. As this was my birthday meal there were a good group of us there, so we took that into consideration with the timings for the food but still at 8:20pm we were only just starting to get our rice which was freezing cold. By this time the children we had with us were starving and tired as it was getting late for them as well as us adults now getting frustrated as we’re also hungry. Granted we were given free drinks each but even then it still took them ages to start to bring anything out. Most of the people on my table didn’t get their mains and just cold rice that we had to send back. Most of the dishes that eventually was brought out, they didn’t even know what meal belonged to who or if the special allergy requirements were met or not. Everyone on tables around us that had come in after had their menus given straight away as well as drinks, not to mention that they had eaten their food way before us which I find shocking! The manager wasn’t very helpful at all and didn’t seem to know what was going on in the restaurant that they was supposed to be managing. Maybe we had just gone there on a bad evening but it had totally ruined by birthday evening that was supposed to be a lovely meal out with family and friends. They’ve definitely lost what would have been very loyal, regular customers! Like I said maybe we had just come there on a bad day but my personal review and opinion on the place is, unless you’ve not long eaten, it’s early enough and you don’t mind waiting hours for food to half come out. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant which is really gutting for me to be writing.

Absolutely shocking amount of food,containers less than half full.

Food was incredible, I had chicken chow mien and sizzling lamb with ginger and spring onion - the taste was amazing, portion sizes were great too and reasonably priced. Will definitely go again 👏🏽

Amazing food, piping hot when it was delivered and well packed in a snazzy bag. The speed of delivery was amazing and the driver so friendly. We all enjoyed the chow menu, kung po and chicken and ginger dishes and received a bottle of fizzy drink and prawn crackers for the size of our order. Definitely a take away to return to❤️

Great food and above and beyond service. We went for the mid week day all you can offer. There was such an extensive choice of dishes and not buffet style but order from the menu. Our wine glass was never empty and the staff couldn’t have done more for us. Highly recommend!

My husband and I went for dinner in Parkside and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was fresh and delicious with reasonable price, and the best part was that the chef sent us a dessert they had created that day. We were delighted

This used to be an amazing restaurant, true Szechuan food, but sadly, they no longer have any of it on their menu

Ordered takeaway of 3 dishes. I had one (Ho fun with mixed vegetables) - was so bad, greasy. The noodles were hard and the vegetables eg broccoli was hard and semi raw. Whole thing was really salty as well. Felt incredibly sick after my meal and would like a refund tbh

Food was fantastic, service was great. Early on a Tuesday evening the day after a bank holiday so was a bit quiet. Looking forward to going again.

Wonderful meal with family. So much to choose from and extremely delicious food. Very reasonably priced.

This has been our go to for the last 3 years. Really gutted to be moving and not being able to continue having the perfectly made food. Parkside is the only restaurant which delivers food piping hot to your door! Every other restaurant fails to do in our deliver area. Would definitely recommend!!!

Only place in Orpington where you can find certain authentic dishes - all beautifully cooked with excellent service!

Previously ordered from this address when it was under a different name, with different decor etc, so I was hoping for a 'Base' level of quality. Sadly massively disappointed. 'Butterfly Prawns' - RIDICULOUSLY salty. They were substantial in size yet the salt level was unacceptable. 'Crispy Shredded Beef' - A sugary nightmare for both Diabetic and non-Diabetic alike. This had me personally reaching for the filtered water jug multiple times. Ironically, my partner for the evening IS diabetic and I steered her clear of it. Yes it was THAT sweet (And I'm a choco-holic & complex Sugars junkie...) The most egregious part of the ensemble (Based on taste and product overall) was the 'Special Fried Rice'. The speciality was the near absence of any mixed meats inside it. It looked as if someone had started to make egg fried rice; abandoned that; then accidentally added several pieces of meat before abandoning that too. Truly 'Special'. The only thing that was even close to being up-to-snuff was the 'Half Duck' supplied with the usual. The word 'Half' here needs to be taken with a pinch of salt (Try getting it from the Prawns there's plenty to spare...). To round off the proceedings we ordered 'Mixed Hors D’ Oeuvres'. This was also supposed to come with 'Butterfly Prawns'. Nope. Not included in what we ordered. This had been a point of levity on order with myself threatening to eat the entire separate batch we ordered on pickup, however, to go through all of the above and then have parts missing (TBH the extra salt might have tipped me over to 999 territory so I may have dodged a bullet there) puts the icing on a totally miserable episode. Like I said, previously ordered from here when it had a different name (& possibly Management?) and looked at the reviews and pictures & gave it a go. However, when you receive food so poor (with missing items as well) you regret investing two thirds of the £50+ on a takeaway, that's a hard pass and negative recommendation from me. My search for decent takeaway continues, as I feel what was supplied was possibly the furthest it could ever be from that label.

Had food from the authentic menu, tried something different, which was really tasty. Cannot wait to take my Mum.

I've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant for ages since our former favourite closed. This is it, food, ambience, staff all excellent. Highly recomend it

Okay restaurant, some food tasted good some not so good. However the workers there kept staring at us whilst we ate and it was very uncomfortable. Food is decent though and I really like the atmosphere.

Second time there and left disappointed. Except for fried chicken is spicy sauce everything was utterly disappointing and very slow service even though it was practically empty most of the time we were there. Red Thai chicken curry is nothing you expect from a red Thai curry, infact it didn’t even look red and we had to look deep into the bowl to see the curry. When told the manager that it only tastes of lemon grass, the response was that it’s supposed to taste of lemon grass which was even more disappointing rather than trying to fix the issue. And for your information, it supposed to also taste of numerous other flavours including coconut milk. The SICHUAN NOODLES WITH PEPPERY SAUCE WITH MINCED PORK had no pork at all and tasted more like noodles with satay sauce rather than anything sichuan or peppery. Mixed seafood fried rice again lacked flavour and taste. Safe to say we won’t be returning. It was just disappointing as we had brought friends along as had a decent experience the first time, may be just beginner’s luck. If you are looking less faff and more flavour go to Joy’s kitchen on high street instead - again been there once but had a much better experience.

Best authentic Chinese food in the area

I am staying in the area for work.and I've tried a couple of other Chinese take aways which weren't very good I read some reviews and overall it sounded and looked OK Wrong !! the special Fried rice was cold the curry sauce luke warm.and the pork dumplings were just an horrible cocktail sausage in a pastry which was also cold Also I collected it myself and walked 5mins so it wasn't sat in a car fir 30 mins Just my experience but I won't be going back

Nice restaurant, nice decor. However, there was an error made with our party booking, which had been made a week before. We were made to feel like it was our fault when clearly it wasn't. However, once this was resolved we had a fairly decent time, and the food was good.

Great authentic Chinese cuisine available at the restaurant!

I visited this restaurant on 9.10.2021 was empty, the food was tasty, but it was so expensive most dishes are £10+ also they add a service charge on your bill, I won't be returning, thats my humble opinion

Lovely atmosphere, great staff and delicious food. A very extensive menu with classic dishes youd expect along with many authentic dishes. Also lots of vegetarian options and even a veggie set menu with further offerings. Thanks we will definitely be back.

I really enjoy Parkside as they offer a large selection of traditional dishes that are full of flavour which are not widely available.

Have eaten here on special occasions, cannot fault the cleanliness of the resturant. And how beautifully presented the table and food are! Food is always delicious and staff are friendly. Takeaway is just as good, fresh and quick! Could not recommend enough.

Simply wonderful food, we arranged a delivery by phone, it arrived in good time, food still hot, very pleased to see tin and card packaging for the products. Crispy aromatic duck is superb, crispy chilli beef is incredible. The Singapore noodles was incredible. Butterfly king prawn starter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Every dish was large we had roughly half of the food left at the end. The quality of the dishes was spot on, really delicious 😋 great portion sizes for the starters and mains. Free prawn crackers, large bottle of coke and fortune cookies too. Super happy will now use regularly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Star.
