I have a wheat & gluten allergy but saw they catered for it. WOW WOW AMAZING Beautiful fresh hot just yummy 👍😁 light but crispy batter good sized chip, nice and fluffy. Price was very fair £15.90 for cod and chips and battered sausage and chips. Too many chips for me and that’s saying something I’m a hungry hippo lol couldn’t make my mind up so hubby and I had half cod half sausage.

We went for takeaway cod and chips. Worst fish and chips we have ever had. Greasy batter cooked in slightly rancid oil and soggy chips but worse than this, the fish tasted of ammonia so clearly it was far from being fresh - old and deteriorating. It went straight in the bin. Really disappointing.

Best chips we've had in ages and was so excited when I discovered they do gluten free sausages - totally delicious too and they wrapped it separately from the rest of the food and advised me the vinegar wasn't gluten free in case I had wanted it. Brilliant food and service! Will definitely be back!

After our visit today we will not returning soggy chips the oil was running out of the fish through the paper onto my clothing . Been using this fish and chip shop years . Bad day maybe but totally awful.

Went with my partner and son for a visit to the beach, ordered battered sausage and chips, the chips were very nice, crispy and soft on the inside, perfectly cooked

Friendly service but the food was average I think the fish was cooked from frozen certainly didn't taste fresh. Chips were quite good but not that great.

This fish and chips shop is truly exceptional. The staff members are incredibly kind and sweet – some of the nicest people I've ever encountered in Kent. I can't praise this place highly enough. The taste and portion sizes of their fish and chips are absolutely incredible. It's a solid 10/10 recommendation from me. Never going anywhere else.

Rip off! Photo shows a medium size portion of chips for £3.50. Poor quality and quantity. Will go elsewhere for our fish and chip takeaways. Disappointed as new to the area.

Hmmm. Not bad - well cooked, fairly fresh chips but 'cod' like I've never had before. We eat cod weekly from out fishmonger and we order cod from another fish & chip shop on Folkestone Harbour, so we know all about lovely flaky cod. I specifically ordered cod but we had a white fish that was nothing like the cod we have had elsewhere. Which leaves the question ---- is it really cod?

Called for a Fish lunch My Huss was not fresh, it was a grey colour and My Wife's cod was a paler grey. We have been to five Fish and Chip Shops since the middle of January and this is the first I've felt I've had to comment on. We will try again in the next few months and I will post again. We hope that We are able to give a more favourable post. In the meantime the best one so far is a few miles west. We expect Fresh fish along he coast.

chips were horrid we waited for them cook fish approx 10/15 mins , and the chips had just sat there, they were hard dry & cold and was very dissapointed Why cant they cook the chips when waiting for the fish, its put me off, wont be returning

Consistently good fish and chips served by the charming owner and his family. Chips are always crispy and very good sized portions. Curry sauce is top notch too. Prices are pretty keen. All in all the best fish and chips in the locale and the occasional queue is testament to this.

Nice to finally see a fish and chip shop offering gluten free fish! This deserved a 5 star. Food was yummy, we enjoyed. No napkins to take away 👎🏽 I much prefer chips in paper, than a box ( i did ask for them in paper and was told ok ) but still received in a box. Anyway, i would definitely return! We thoroughly enjoyed.

Popped in on a Friday night for some chips. The lady sitting behind the till is not particularly friendly. There are ways to greet your customers in a pleasant and friendly manner! The chips were soggy, cold and under cooked.

Firstly, I can't fault the food. Everything turned out tasty and cooked perfect. My issues are they don't, unlike any other chip shop I've visited on holiday provide a boxed mini meal. You have to buy the items separately which ramps the price up and then they will put it in a box for you. At home I can get this for £2.99, but here over £7. Final thing, it doesn't hurt to smile or be pleasant to the customers. Not one of the six behind the counter smiled or said thank you or bye. My local chip shop owner likes to chat to his customers but it was like being at an undertakers at this one. Where holiday makers go to pick out their coffins and pick up their chips

We were staying just down the road on holiday and popped by on the first evening. Just bought a large portion of chips and a roll but delicious.

Been going to Park Road Fish Bar for years and the "plaice" is always rammed. The staff work really hard and the food is always really good. A great local traditional chippie! Incidentally this chippie now takes card payments.

Awful fish and chips. Chips were cold by the time we got home. Hair in the sausage. Batter tasted of chemicals and had small black/brown spots all over everything. Won’t be going back, very disappointed.

How I agree with Christopher R. I left a glowing review 9 years ago but have seen prices rise and quality fall. My small cod was tiny. It was so small and cut so thin that it had dried out in the batter and was chewy. Very disappointing. Chips were fine and a decent portion. I paid £14 for small cod and chips twice. They still have lockdown measures in place and you wait for ages to be served while standing outside. I'm surprised it was so busy as the long wait outside and the disappointment with the price and quality has put me off coming back. They have both an in and out door and could be much better organised and do need a rethink. At the moment they have a loyal customer base but I feel it won't last.

My wife and I moved here 10 years ago and found this a great fish n chip outlet, over the years we became friendly with the owners and food was good and everything was perfect. over the years prices increased and quality went down, since the pandemic prices increased dramaticly and fish n chips got smaller and smaller and the price went higher and higher. I am sorry to say. Park Road Fish Bar we gave you good custom in 10 years you gave us nothing in return for our business. Your loss not ours.

Visited Hythe yesterday, and found this fish & chip shop. They were offering gluten fish and chips, which was of great interest to me for I am a Coeliac. Husband went into the shop and requested the order, and they cooked the order. Staff were helpful and the fish and chips were quite pleasant. The only thing I would say, is that we found them rather greasy.

Ate from here while staying locally. Best bit of fish I've ever had from a chippy. Excellent value for money and portion sizes were very generous ( we ordered large). Friendly staff and it seemed the fish was cooked to order making it even nicer. would definitely go back and highly recommend.

Had not visited for a few years and used to be lovely fish & chips, unfortunately the cod and chips we had tonight could only be described as the worst I have ever had. Also for some reason cash only which is very strange, will not be returning

Friendly service as always. Great fish and chips cooked to your liking should you ask. The premises are always very clean. Have never had any cause to complain.

Haddock a good size and batter thickness just right. Chips freshly made. Best to order as usually queues. Recommended.

First time customer, and definitely won’t return. Said had run out of small cod so had to have medium, needn’t have worried it would be too much, if that was medium I dread to imagine what small would look like. Cod was tasteless as if been frozen for too long (if was actually cod) and tiny portion. Chips were soggy, tasted nasty and way too much salt put on them. Cost for two supposedly medium cod and chips and one mushy peas was £16.30, and had to pay cash, disgusting that anywhere stipulates this during Covid, so presume a tax fiddle. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Have returned twice recently after carefully observing pandemic lockdowns and it was a pleasure to once again to eat from this fish and chip bar. I thought the food was its usual good quality enjoyed by all four in our group. Back again soon.

The food is not as good as it used to be and the welcome is cold. As others have said, soggy chips and fish in masses of batter. I used to rate this place but after our last two visits won’t be returning. Oh and I thought Friday was a traditional fish and chip night but they close at 7.45!

Excellent friendly service following safe Covid regulations. Short waiting times. They appreciate their regular customers and work very hard.

The nearest take away to the sea front and take away only at present due to Covid restrictions. Keenly priced at £11.30 for small cod, medium cod and two small chips. The fish was decent enough, but the chips were awfully soggy and greasy I'm afraid and formed two unappetising lumps on the trays. They needed cooking with more care and for longer. The chips ended up with the seagulls and we ended up hungry.

I always enjoy the food from this place - probably the best fish in Hythe - and today they were careful to make sure I got my takeaway on time after I told them I was on a schedule. Thanks very much. Sam

Haven’t visited for a while as the last time the chips were soggy. Thought I would try again and it was still the same really soggy fish and chips! Need to be cooked longer!

My partner has been in hythe for years and has used the fish park lots of time.Fish and chips are great and have been for years and always great.Service is now only takeaway and cash only.Have waited outside for the order and also phoned order in advance didnt thinknit mattered as we got there and still had to wait ages for the order, so seems not worth phoning ahead.But still great fish and chips

Tasty. A great place for takeaways and eating in - or well there would be eating in if it wasn’t for coronavirus. Light crispy batter and cooked to perfection fish, this is a must-go.

My parents had a caravan in Hythe 50 years ago, and we used this Fish and Chip shop. I had not been back for 20 years and was delighted it was still there. Obviously is a new owner now but the Fish and Chips was superb - all freshly cooked. We sat and ate the Fish and Chips on the nearby seafront just before it poured down with rain. An English Summer!

Warm welcome.. Due to the virus restrictions, we could only take away.. Previously we had enjoyed a great table service on several occasions.. Fresh fish and delicious chips.. They only take cash, and no card payment, which is fine if you are prepared for it.. Will definitely repeat the experience..

Sadly this visit was not a good one. The Lady taking the order was very short with me because she couldn’t hear me through my mask, making me uneasy and if looks could kill well. Adding to that when my order was ready the fish was brought to the paper dripping in oil. I have been to this shop before and had a few dodgy experiences and decided this was going to be the last. Sorry Guys but you need to get your act together

Generally visit every week and phone order through. Always good standard of fare and well priced. Never had cause for complaint.

We were staying nearby so needed to eat on a Monday evening and found it very busy . The social distancing precautions means there is a bit of a wait and they also were just taking cash payments when we were there. The fish and chips were however excellent and well worth the wait we would certainly use them again if in the area

They are trying their best with social distancing, but not worth the wait. Small and medium size chips are exactly the same, so if you have to go there, may as well pay for small. The cod was not white and flaky, not sure if was actually cod and the large fish is tiny and made up mainly of batter. We used to like this place, but won't be going again as not worth the money. Also there is no need to be grumpy with customers.

I have been coming here for many years. As good as I have had and consistent. Also good to eat in Restaurant in Winter. Fish very fresh and well cooked. Have sent a number of people there and all go back and rate it. If you find a better cooked piece of Fish and Chips please let me know as would like to try them.

Came to Hythe to get fish and chips to eat on the beach. One of life's pleasures when the sun is shinning. We purchased the fish and chips from here first before proceeding to the promenade. They were well prepared and had social distancing measures in place. The staff wrte efficient and polite. The cod was well cooked and the skin crunchy and not soggy. Chips were good was well. Good value for money. Recommended

Close by our rented cottage, so we walked around and got cod and chips one evening. Everything is cooked to order, which is great. Fresh fish, which was good, nice chips and mushy peas. Enjoyed the meal...only slight issue was the batter on the fish...it is very light, which is good but it tends to fall apart. Not a problem for most. Would recommend. Cash only...

Fish and chips in the park after a morning stroll to Sandgate and back. Chips were very good, tasty and not too greasy. My cod was a good size and the batter was light. Not the best piece of fish I've ever had - didn't seem too fresh.

Went to this place as was near to our hotel ordered fish and chips,food was nice and hot chips were lovely but I found the fish batter to moist i like my batter crispy bit the fish was nice and hot shame about the batter really otherwise would of been a lovely meal

Three generations of our family went on a trip down to the coast and stopped at Hythe to walk along the sea front and find a bite to eat. As we headed from the seafront towards the town centre we came across this café on a side street. As there was 6 of us we had to move a few chairs to sit around the table but the staff didn't mind. They were very friendly and served us promptly. Food was very good and reasonably priced. One down side was that it didn't accept card payments, so make sure you go in with cash.

i visited park road fish bar last night I ordered a portion of chips to take away when I arrived home I unwrapped my chips only to find that they where cold and inedible

I was on a weekend break with my daughter and we decided that we wanted to do the ole traditional eat fish and chips on the beach. We were told about this place and decided that if the local people recommend it then its good. Once we were there, there was a big queue of people, some had already had their orders taken, others waiting. I was a bit hesistant about the wait, but then if people are willing to wait then thats a sign of good service and quality. In the end we waited approx 15 mins. There was a constant flow of customers. The service as you can expect in a busy place, was quick, hello, can i take your order etc, but it was done friendly enough for the pressure they must have been under. \We got our order and again the sevice was friendly enough, asking if we wanted salt and vinegar. We took our food and took the short walk to the beach and enjoyed our fish and chips, under the caqreful eyes of the seagulls. Park Lane Fish Bar is a place to go if you want a take away, just be prepared to wait,. but it is worth it

Freshly cooked, cooked to order, delicious chips and wide range of fish in light crispy batter. Honest, great value and friendly. You can take away or sit in. Lovely tea and coffee. Great family run atmosphere.

What used to be the best Fish and Chip shop in Hythe for years, is now what can only be described as the worst.

Always come here for our Fish and Chips. It’s a bit out of my way but worth it. They will take a phone order to collect and always a happy welcome.

Probably the most average fish and chips I've had in many years so I wouldn't recommend and wouldn't eat there again. Chips were anemic and slightly undercooked. The cod had good texture but was not that flavoursome. Batter was good but a bit too much of it for the size of fish. The shop itself was very good, staff ok. So overall a very average experience I'd rather not repeat.

We have eaten both in the premises and take away several times since our move here a year ago and the food quality has always been excellent and hot. Highly recommended and a great local shop.

Fabulous fish and chips, placed was really busy but know why, when the fish and chips are this good.

We have eaten fish and chips from here many times and it absolutely never disappoints. It is immaculately clean. The service is very efficient at all times. Every Friday night there is a queue out of the door and along the street, but everyone is dealt with quickly and politely. Lily, George and Mark go above and beyond, they are such hard working, lovely people.

I totally DO RECOMMEND this venue. It is very fairly priced, with wide selection of fish and seafood.

Great meal to take away and sit in the car watching the sea on a rainy day.

We stumbled across this gem of a Fish Bar constant flow of people mainly locals eat in or take away we choose to eat in i had a cod and chips wife pie and chips it was wonderfull all cooked fresh a nice family concern we were in there on a Sunday when near Hythe again we will be back for sure a Park Rd is off Stade Street a great place no pizzas no kebabs ctc

We were starving and looking for chips! This was the first fish and chip shop we came across. We had the option of sitting in and decided to do this. After waiting quite a while for our food when it arrived it became clear that it was definitely not worth the wait. In all my life (I am 60 and not particularly fussy) I have never had such tasteless food. I was not even aware that chips could be tasteless! Not even the cheapo tomato sauce could brighten them up and the thin piece of (large) cod seemed to taste of nothing at all! So all in all ... if I were you ... I’d go somewhere else.

Evenings on the beach in Hythe in this weather are lovely. Last week we decided to buy fish and chips from the Park Street Fish Bar and enjoy them on the beach. The service and fish were good but the chips were appalling. When we unwrapped them on the beach it was not possible to identify individual chips - it was just a large blob of lightly cooked potato. The sea gulls didn't mind but it's not what I expect from a fish and chip shop. I'm sure customers wouldn't mind waiting for a few more minutes for properly cooked chips.

I purchased one small cod and chips for myself (have been a customer for years) and it was the worst I’d had! The chips were soggy, hadn’t been cooked long enough at all and the cod was really really small! It used to be really good! Definitely going downhill!

Only heard of this chip shop by chance. First time of having gluten free fish and chips for years. It was luxury. Thankyou and the service was brilliant. Not advertised enough. Will certainly visit again . Well recommended.

Visited here on Sunday 10th June as the shop opened. As I walked in the shop the proprietor was shouting at the young lady working in there. She clearly had a grievance.

We ordered cod and plaice and chips to take away. The service was obliging and the fish was very fresh and well cooked without too much batter.

We were stayng in hythe for two days and decided to have dinner here based on the good reports from trip Advisor members. We were a party of four and chose to have our meal sitting down in the dining area which is basic but comfortable and very clean. The menu offers all kinds of fish in small, medium and large portions which will suit everybody.On the drinks section, you can order your coffee black or white in strengths from mild to strong and i ordered the strong white and it was very good. I also ordered the large cod and chips with a buttered roll which turned out to be a large bap. The fish was lovely and cooked in a tasty thin batter and the whole meal looked and tasted wonderful. The portions were so large, i could not eat the bap as i had no room for it. We all had a great time and will return again when we are next in the area.

This happy little team of family prepare and serve the best fish and chips I have ever had. There is no doubt that only the best quality, fresh ingredients are used, chunky and flaky thick cod steak in a light, crispy batter. Local potatoes always freshly fried. We have now made several trips here and never been disappointed. Eat in or take away. Couple of minutes from the beach if you want a romantic supper watching the sunset over Dungeness.

We took our nephew and his partner to hythe for fish and chips and none of the 6 of us were disappointed. Have been here several times and have always enjoyed our meals. Yes you have to wait for your order but it's well worth the wait. I would definitely recommend this chippie to anyone in the area. Keep up the good work.... we'll be back very soon.

Not easily found but worth the effort. The standard selection of battered fish, pies etc. The fish is pretty average - haddock is my choice - as is the scampi. Pies are pukka so reasonable, but sadly no cheese and onion pie. All pretty average.

Having read all the good reviews we decided on takeaway fish and chips. First impressions were not the best, this is certainly not the smartest/cleanest of establishments.

We live in Ashford but drive to Hythe when we want to treat ourselves. This really is the best fish and chips you can get, in this area at least. I’ve lost count how many times we’ve eaten here, but every time, without fail, the quality of the meal is exceptional. We always eat in and always the service is friendly, efficient and warm. It’s worth the drive, in fact we refuse to get fish and chips more locally as they have always been disappointing.

Great food service always quick and very friendly. Right near the sea front and not too far from the town either. Perfect location to cater for all.

Whenever we visit hythe we always pop in to get some chips,food is always of good standard,sometimes you have to wait a little while,down side they don't accept debit/credit cards,but would highly recommend to anyone

For our last dinner in Hythe, my parents and I decided to go have some fish & ships. We went here mostly because it was the closest to where we were staying. Although it did take a bit of time to have our order prepared (which at least means we had it hot), the food was very good and tasty!PS: if you're not a big eater, don't take the medium cod, its huge!

We have picked up take away chips from this wonderful Fish Bar to eat on the nearby beach for some time but today had an excellent lunch with great food, friendly staff in a beautifully clean, well tended dining area. Looking at other reviews I am not sure why some people complained about the standard of food as I intend to be evangelical about this place - no pun intended! If you want good food, well cooked and excellent service, head to Park Road Fish Bar in Hythe. Vegetarians will be fine too - two out of three of us today - tasty veggie burgers and other items are available on the menu. We will not be eating anywhere else in Hythe now and are looking forward to our next visit. Lucky locals!

Use her most weeks I travel that be bit further past other chip shops specially to come to this one why because it's one of the best one I have been to friendly service good prices good portion size yummy chips great cod pies and sausages are good quality too. We were a party of Six and we had Cod & Chips and one had Saveloy & Chips. I can honestly say it was one of the best pieces of Cod I have ever tasted. Will certainly visit again when in Hythe. Thank you for your brilliant food and service.
