Top notch cafe this one. Home cooked food that is really good value. The team are very helpful and polite the place is ultra clean and all in all we had a great experience. We stood for ages waiting to be shown to a table and when we tried to order our food from the specials board we were told they didn't have what we wanted so had to choose something else. Then tried to order a milkshake but again we were told they didn't have any so again ordered something else. After waiting for absolutely ages the food arrived and it wasn't worth the wait. A dry chicken burger and some over cooked chips. Only ate a small amount and then just paid and left.

As part of our yearly visit, we visited the paramount never disappointed excellent service , food was so hot and first class

Great choices on the menu.All cooked fresh to order.Very reasonable prices and generous portion sizes. We always pre book before getting on holiday and will be doing so again next year ready for our holiday.

Website clearly says open times but when you get there a big sign on the door says closed certain days. School holidays and not open. What a joke. Family of 7 disappointed Update your website

The Paramount is a basic but excellent cafe with an extensive menu and daily specials, all food freshly cooked to order. At present evening opening hours are limited, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 5 to 8 pm. Breakfast and Lunch opening hours are also Thursdays to Saturdays 8am to 2pm. Thoroughly recommended.

I made an effort to visit this cafe because of the owners response to the Cold Cottage Pie review on Tripadvisor. I liked the fact that the owners stood up for themselves. I am glad that I made the effort to eat here. We were seated in under a minute of at one of the only 2 empty tables that were available. After our order was taken our drinks were served followed by our breakfast in around 5 minutes, All perfectly cooked and hot, apart from the orange juice which was ice cold. Shanklin is an area that has many places to eat, many of which are over priced. This is not and I found it great value for money. I think that cafe that is being used by both visitors and locals speaks a volume about how good it is. During our visit a woman let her dog take a **** on the doorstep of the cafe. This was dealt with quickly and professionally by the staff, with no help from the dog owner. This is a great cafe that is clean and well run.

Approx quarter of my pie was cold; waitress took it away & said they'd get me another one. Brough the same one back (hot) about 5 mins later. Said they'd give me a price reduction - but still charged me £7. Shall not be going there again. Oh & can't take my dog in there; but noisy children - that's fine! Copper Kettle is better.

The waitress who served us was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. Once we were given our food it was in generous portions and tasted lovely. The service was quick and efficient throughout! Very impressed, would definitely return!

Been back to the island for the 2nd time this year as we were there in the summer. We ate at the paramount almost everyday when they were open in the summer and we were here again 4 times for Breakfast and evening meal. Can't fault the food or the service the homemade specials of steak pie and cottage were excellent again. Thanks to John and Maddy and the rest of the staff for looking after us once again. We have already booked in for summer 2022 when we are back again.

Came here for breakfast on my last day in Shanklin and wish I'd found it sooner. I had the big boy breakfast which tasted great and was good value for money. Service to was really good and the food came out quickly, would definitely recommend

We didn't want to cook a breakfast and wash up on the last day of our holiday - so we checked out early and ventured in to Shanklin to find a place to eat. The Paramount Cafe was the first we came to and a brief look at the menu decided us. The food was excellent and plentiful and the drinks were nice as well (particularly the tea - served in a mug - which after a week of drinking cups was very welcome indeed). Value for money and service were spot on.

Came in at 1.35 just before they shut at 2. Had an amazing homemade cottage pie which was very hot and tasty and a big portion. Ended up having desert which was equally good. They waited until we finished after 2 which was really good of them. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely be coming back.

We went as a family of 8 for dinner. All of us enjoyed our dinner, especially the home made cottage pie. It made a lovely change from the normal dinner with chips. All our food arrived nice and hot with good portions. Staff were really friendly and service was fast and efficient. We will definitely return when next in the area.

Came across this cafe one evening by accident. Didn’t look anything special on the outside but inside was another story. The staff are great, friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic and a top restaurant couldn’t serve food as going d as they do. To top it off the cost is usually well under £10 for a huge plateful of food. Highly recommend.

In Shanklin for a long weekend, came in here twice for breakfast. Food was amazing, with a fab veggie option. Friendly staff, lovey atmosphere enjoyed listening as the chef sang along to the 70s tunes 😀

Ate here on our first night during a week-long holiday and came back three more times, as we really loved it. We found food better than in some other restaurants, always fresh and tasty and very reasonably priced. What really made this place stand out was the fantastic staff: John, Maddie, Sophie and Mia made us feel very welcome and well looked after. The busier it was the bubblier they got! I would highly recommend this cafe but please note it’s worth booking in advance to avoid disappointment! Anna & family D.F.L. ;-)

Called in just for coffee, it was the only one open on the Sunday morning after Christmas. We were only there for a drink but the menu and specials board looked quite varied and reasonably priced. The only food we saw was snack type and it looked fine. The staff were helpful and polite. Overall an average cafe/ restaurant.

Popped in here for a cooked. Breakfast with a friend and one of my sons. Friendly welcome. Nice, Clean restuarant. We had a cooked breakfast each and a tea and coffee. Decent sized breakfast cooked Perfectly. Nothing to complain about at all! Will be back!

We're moving to the Island and in the last few months we've have popped in every day for breakfast and at least 2-3 times for an evening meal, Staff are excellent as is the food good value for money. There's always a smile and welcome from the staff.

We were on a short break with Danish friends in Shanklin.Not fancying negotiating an Indian or Thai menu translating into Danish we fell over the Paramount Cafe.Very high quality food and absolutely excellent customer service from friendly staff at cafe prices ..we decided to visit again the following evening and we were advised to book ahead.Staff booked us in from voicemail message left when they were closedThey also picked up a missed call from me...now that is service!Highly recommended!

We visited Shanklin and the first night we were looking for somewhere to eat and were looking at the menu outside the Paramount cafe and a group people came out said the food was excellent.We took their advice and ate here. When you go in you see in the back of the cafe a fish and chip shop range and it do make me wonder what we were going to get.As it was our meal was fine although the service is a little unprofessional but the food was fine and the cost was relatively low.Overall I would recommend and all other clientele seemed happy with their meals.

Looking for a quick late lunch on a Monday when out of season hard to find . They were open until two PM and made it before close. Ordered good value baked potato with cheese topping and salad plus natural orange juice.Nice surroundings and was well satisfied.

Called in with the family for breakfast. Good choice available, with a large and small full English on offer. All freshly cooked too. It certainly hit the spot. Well done, well be back next time we're here. Husband wasn't keen on the sausages hence the the 4 out of 5.

We visited the Paramount Cafe on a Saturday when everything else appeared shut. It was good value for money. I find a lot of places charge the earth for a sandwich on the IOW but Paramount were very reasonable in price and the quality was good.

A perfect place to go for Valentine's Day - Jon and his staff will look after you - the food is freshly cooked and piping hot and the atmosphere is cosy and warm.

We work round the corner at Shanklin Theatre, without this gem of a cafe we would be eating way too many chips. There is generally a home style cooked dinner on with vegetables and gravy. Always well hot with lashings of gravy. Love this place.

The Paramount is great value, the staff are welcoming, then attentive without being intrusive, the table and cutlery were clean, and the food was better than most of the other places in Shanklin that we had tried. I'm glad we went in, and sorry we didn't find it earlier. The garlic bread was a baguette sliced longways and then in half. It arrived hot and tasty, and crusty without being too hard. The steak was medium-rare as requested and good quality with hardly anything to cut away, the butterfly chicken breast was fine, and the garlic and herb dressing very tasty. The steak came with chips and peas, and the chicken with new potatoes, carrots, cabbage and beans, steamed I think, and not overcooked. The loos are down a corridor and across the back yard, bringing back memories for me and amusing my son. Thanks, Paramount!

Visited the cafe twice during our weeks stay in Shanklin.We found the cafe very clean with friendly,helpful staff and and a decent variety of wholesome food on the menu.There is no carpark but it is only a short walk from the large carpark in the old village,this is free after 6pm.

We visit this cafe every time we visit the Isle of Wight, sometimes 2-3 visits if here for a full week. Jon and his staff are always welcoming, and the food always delicious. Lots of fresh vegetables cooked to perfection. Thoroughly recommend this Cafe!

We found the prices good at this cafe and were then pleasantly surprised by the standard of food and we liked the waitress who took time to chat to us about the area. Both the vegetarian and the meat lasagne were excellent.

As important as food quality, it was good to find a restaurant that was open at the times we wanted. Too many places (including shops) shut too early.

Good choice on menu. Reasonably priced. Freshly cooked to order. Arrives piping hot. Cups/mugs a little on the small side. The only criticism is the walkway to the toilets and the toilets. It could do with a sweep, mop & clean.

Had been here previous year so thoight I would go again and I was not disappointed. I opted for Big Fish, Chips and Peas with a Diet Pepsi (Not sure if you could get Mushy suppose I should have asked) and it was plate full in fact I had to leave some chips as I was full. As I had time to kill I have a Coffee after my meal which was also nice. Although you have to go outside to get to the Toilets they have refurbished with soap and hot water somethung some Cafes don't have.

The Paramount Café in Shanklin has been around for over 50 years that I am aware of. It was always THE favorite haunt of me and all my mates back in the late sixties and early seventies, when it was run by Mrs Langdon (I think was her name). Just round the corner from the Shanklin Youth Club it was always open and us youngsters who were always welcomed and we were always mindfully respectful of the brilliant patron.

We visited this wonderful place to celebrate my birthday. We could have eaten at a swanky hotel, but we chose the Paramount. Whenever we visit we receive a warm, friendly welcome. The food is delicious, and very good value. Where else would we go? 😊

Popped in for a brunch breakfast, the bambino (SMALL) breakfast was very good indeed and far from small!. Piping hot tea, and a lovely BLT baguette everything was fresh and cooked to order. Very fairly priced. They are in the middle of decorating at the moment, looking forward to going back again.

Been a couple of times before and always had good value and service. Decided to try there breakfast as it was new to the menu last year. Couldn't believe it. Knew the portions were generous so went for a "bambino breakfast'. Jumbo sausage, bacon, egg beams, toast and hot drink for a fiver, unbelievable value. Only downside was the coffee, too strong, however, the hot chocolate was very good according to many daughter. Either breakfast or a main meal, it really is worth a visit. Or just go for a chippy, you can't go wrong.

Having caught the 5:45 ferry we arrived in Shanklin far too early to check in at our hotel but the hotel manager (Holliers) kindly let us park our car and recommended the Paramount for a good breakfast. A typical seaside style cafe it does all the English standards. Starving from our overnight journey from Yorkshire we opted for the Bigboy breakfast which was just what the doc ordered! Which, as the name suggests, was very substantial and came with tea or coffee and bread and butter as well as buttered toast and all at a very reasonable price.

We eat here fairly regularly. The waitress service is fast and friendly, and the food is good value.

Didn't eat here but did stop in nearly every morning to grab a take away coffee as it seems to be one of the few places in Shanklin that opens early. I tend to be up pretty early so I go for a bit of a morning walk when I'm on holiday and I was a bit worried when I went looking for coffee on the first day and didn't find a lot! Even though I only popped in to grab a coffee, the guy serving seemed perfectly happy with this (I've had some experiences where they really wanted me to eat something instead!) and I was always greeted with a warm welcome and a smile, which is all you really need at that time of day! Like I say, I didn't eat here but from what I saw the food looked pretty good. The coffee was certainly very nice! Thank you for my morning wake up!

A regular place to eat for us when holidaying in Shanklin. Nothing fancy, just plain, honest fare well cooked and well presented with attentive service. Portions are more than generous and the prices are very reasonable indeed.

Lots of eateries in Shanklin appear to be overpriced and definitely after the tourist dollar. The paramount is different. Nice cafe, nice staff, good food. We left feeling well fed and not ripped off. Remember it is a cafe, not a restaurant, but that should not put you off.

me & my family came to this café,while we were on holiday in isle of wight,we asked for our drinks,we waited 15 minutes,our drinks didn't turn up,so we asked the waitress for our drinks that we asked for,the food was ok,my son askrd for bacon & egg sandwich,but he only had a bacon sandwich when it turned up,so we told the waitress,our son asked for a bacon & egg sandwich,but he got an bacon sandwich,she said i'll back into the kitchen,2 minutes my son got his bacon & egg sandwich,the toilets are back yard of the café,not good if it's raining,my family & myself won't br coming to this café again,with it's poor service & toilets in the back yard. my advice don't come to this café.

The food was basic but well cooked and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You can pay with a credit/debit card. They have public toilets.

All the food is done to order - very slick - a good range menu, children catered for staff very helpful, and slick nothing is too much trouble - make sure you reserve a table or get there early - value for money - we make every effort to eat there when we visit the Island - and Jon is still as efficient and unfazed as when we first visited nearly 25 years ago!

Popped in for a cooked breakfast. Good sized breakfast, cooked as asked, and served quickly. Bonus - bread and butter is served with the fry up. Nice touch that you don't find in many places. The staff were lovely and we had a nice warm welcome. Cafe was nice and clean and it was good to see tables being cleaned properly and quickly. I was all set for a 5 star review until I went to the toilet. Filthy! I'm my opinion it takes nothing to keep a WC clean. This looked and smelled like it hadn't seen a cleaning cloth or a mop in some time!!! Then as I left the toilet I was greeted by a mountain of cigarette butts on the outside steps. A real shame that this lets the cafe down because until then I'd really enjoyed my visit.

As always, the service at this clean and cheerful restaurant was superb; we shared a garlic mushroom starter (it is such a large serving that we wouldn't have room for a main course) and then ordered the 8oz rump steak with peas and new potatoes. This is on the "specials" blackboard near the coffee machine. I love the way that the vegetables are invariably piping hot, and cooked "al dente" just the way we like them. Jon (the owner) always greets us like an old friend, even though we are holidaymakers and can only visit two or three times a year.It is a very good sign that local people use the restaurant, and, in the unlikely event that you need to wait to be served, a good selection of newspapers and magazines are provided.

One of our favourite places to eat on the Isle of Wight is this unassuming café in Shanklin, down the hill towards the old village.My wife Pat likes the fact that they serve fresh vegetables, which is not that common in affordable eateries.I like the cheerful service, the interesting street scene passing by, the good food- and the prices.I had a Piri Piri chicken while Pat selected Garlic Chicken with herbs: pleasant enough but I would have liked mine spicier.Our sweets included a chocolate ice cream. Unfortunately I have been spoiled by getting used to the best chocolate ice cream, the Italian triple chocolate from Iceland. The one here was a bit insipid in comparison.There is a terrific selection of dishes on offer, daily lunchtime and evening specials, good service and fair prices. We had two glasses of house red and the total bill was 25.80, which we thought fair- and a considerable improvement on the overpriced restaurants we had just walked past in Cowes!

Get in here to eat if you can. Basic honest food and lots of it. Good menu with lots of variety. Will be back.

Had two meals in this diner,the first (some pork chops with new pots and fresh veg) was very enjoyable, the second ( chicken pie chips and peas ) not so good .The pie was microwaved giving the usual soggy pastry and the chips needed a bit more cooking.But reasonable value for money and fast service.

We arrived at the Paramount a bit late in the evening, having had a bit of a Goldilocks stroll from the seafront through the Old Town looking for somewhere to eat (Too full, too fancy, too much untouched food heading back to the kitchen) So when we arrived at the Paramount a bit after eight we weren't sure we would be able to eat in as they close at eight thirty. But we could, and I was really glad we hadn't settled on somewhere in The Old Town. Travel and sea air had upped our appetites but downed our imagination so we all went for cheese burger and chips. They were the best burgers we have had in a long time. Nicely toasted buns, crisp, fresh salad, real cheese and the meat, apparently from a local butcher was wonderfully tasty. This is a nice friendly place, good food at inexpensive prices, well located and very clean, all you want really from a decent cafe.
