Papas fish restaurant has closed down. It is being converted into a Wendy’s burger restaurant apparently

Can't really tell much about atmosphere, service or food. We had travelledover 100 miles. I checked website before leaving and it said open. When we got here there was workmen everywhere, no lights on in restaurant. No food, very disapointed. Only workmen to ask and they obviously said its closed. I put lunch and dine in both never happened

Very disappointing. Initially told to go away and come back in ten minutes as busy. Came back and left waiting downstairs. When we went upstairs the place was mostly empty. Not given a table at a window although tables were free and others coming in were told window tables were booked. More importantly when the food arrived it was not good. The fish had a very fatty taste with thick batter and the chips were worse with over half having black bits. Had to leave most of it. When we left it was still half empty and in fact a couple who just arrived left before even ordering! Ignore the false advertising, there is no way this is the best fish and chips in Whitby let alone the country! Had far better fish and chips at a local pub. I suggest you give this place a miss.

Visited for lunch Friday 3rd May. Lift was broke which wasn't ideal for us with our 9 month old but we decided to dine anyway. Firstly there was no atmosphere- the restaurant was empty except for two tables. The music was too loud for that little guests. The server was uninterested and looked like he didn't want to be there. However our order was taken quickly and the food and drinks came fast enough. The food was sub par. The cod and battered sausage were decent enough but the chips were awful- not how you imagine chip shop chips, especially from the "Papas" brand name. They were just mere batter, no potato or they were really stodgy but rock hard. Overall, very disappointed for the price. Would not visit again

Visited Wednesday 1st may with 5 friends ,2 people had walking sticks was told lift was broke ,but they decided to manage the steps ,waited at least 15 mins before any body brought menues , Another wait before they took orders Waited 30 mins before we eventually got our food , ordered teas ,but no signs had to ask for it ,but had already eaten,asked for a teaspoon but never got one ,food was ok but not brilliant,will not be going again xx

Food and service good but the restaurant is drab and run down and in serious need of some makeover. The gents toilets were disgusting with urine all over the floor. Despite the good food would not visit again.

Went today while visiting, food was terrible.. on plate had to be taken away as the peas was stone cold and when it come back put fish was terrible. Emily was our waiter and she was brilliant but the venue and food was rubbish.

Absolutely terrible place , do not go !!! Shocking service , drinks took 30 mins and all terrible , food took another 30 mins to come , condiments took a further 10 mins . Salad was off and gravy and the curry looked like it had been sat months ! Food cold , we all left without eating it ! Staff didn’t care either ! DO NOT GO

Told no seats and had to walk round Whitby for a short while. When we went up to the restaurant only 3 couples inside. Elevator 🛗 not working, some of chips not cooked fully. Have been in Papas at Cleethorpes many times, what a difference. Would not recommend to anyone 😕.

I hate to post negativity, but I unfortunately can't state one positive thing about this place. Myself and husband thought we'd treat ourselves (not something we do often with three young children) to a meal out, whilst visiting Whitby. "The best fish and chips" were absolutely abysmal, I found the fish totally inedible, I tried to eat it but couldn't, there was oil pooled under the fish which had meant the bottom had become totally soggy, the chips were nothing special, I honestly make better chips myself and there's definitely better around my local area - better is an understatement, they blow the socks off this place. To advertise as "the best" you need to live up to this, keep standards high. The entire venue was run down and dirty looking, the lift didn't work, the seats were ripped the latte was out of a sachet that you buy in the supermarket, not even made properly, but left with lumps of the power floating to the top. Now the manager did address this with me, I didn't instantly complain as I wanted my 4 year old to eat something first and I just hate to have to make a complaint, especially in front of other customers, so I went over to the bar to speak privately. I was compensated with the cost of the drinks and the childrens meal, along with a voucher, which unfortunately will not be used, as I wouldn't go to another of these restaurants. In hindsight, I should have complained straight away and left.

We only had takeaway chips thankfully, so many were inedible (blackened/off potatoes) and the vinegar they use has very little flavour... Think they may need their "BBC Best Fish and Chips" award revoked.

Very very disappointing, I visited this restaurant 2 years ago ,it was great, so we came back this week, We was disgusted by the service & the food was reheated, it appears to have gone down hill terribly, floors are filthy, fixtures & fittings missing or loose, the food terrible, my wife mushy peas, very dry, the curry sauce had skin on it, utterly disgusting.

Me and my partner had the cod and chips and it’s was stunning . Fresh the restaurant was very quiet every time in the past when we tried to come in it has been full . Well worth the wait .

We are from Cleethorpes ( seaside town) so know what good fish and chips should be, this is not one of those places! On arrival greeted by a waiter/youth/layabout! Basically not greeted just spoke to us like we were his pals on the park. Taken to a table, not informed there is no waiter/waitress now and you basically order all food and drinks at the bar. Hardly anyone had a good word of English in the entire place, in fact I thought I was ordering in India. When food arrived my daughters had a fly/mosquito cooked in to her fish ! Certainly not a great place anymore and will avoid all Papas now as I think the chain has had its day.

It pains me to give a 2 star review for the service as the Host was amazing, but that was the end of the good service. We waited over 15mins for drinks and the drinks we did order they didn't have. Also, the food took a considerable amount of time at the end of the day its fish and chips and they have a takeaway so we couldn't understand the wait, I did order Plaice which I understand isn't a normal order but I deep fried fish doesn't take that long. The restaurant wasn't busy, the staff seemed very inexperienced, which I know isn't their fault but it showed in the service. Unfortunately, I wouldn't visit again due to this. The food quality was really good though, it's a shame the rest let it down.

Chose to eat here as we have eaten at the Cleethorpes restaurant before. The experience was completely different and very disappointing. The lack lustre staff and bizarre comments they made were just off putting. The portion sizes are meagre compared to Cleethorpes. If it hadn't been for the wonderful view I would have rated the visit even lower. The building looks tired as well. We won't eat here again.

We were in Whitby on a rainy Tuesday and let our grandson choose where to go. He opted for here and overall it was a good visit, a tired looking building and you have to climb the stairs as the lift was not working but we were given a seat overlooking the harbour. The service was good, all young people that we met were friendly and quick, the portions were large so we did not finish everything but overall the fish and chips were good, not brilliant but not poor by any means. Fairly inexpensive compared to others so if you want a harbour view and don't mind the stairs it is worth a look.

We came in as walk in guests and the man called Levi were very helpful and accommodate what we need especially the order that was not available on the menu that day. The man on the bar who served us is nice and helpful too. that makes this restaurant worth to visit and prices were not bad too!

We visited here today, Sunday the 14th of April, my birthday. Honestly it was shocking. "Rated best fish and chips" possibly 40 years ago. When first arriving we stood in the dark hallway waiting for someone to appear to tell us where to be seated. It was ghostly and still, decor Slowly morphing into the backdrop from a horror film. We had to leave the buggy downstairs as the lift was broken. Eventually after 10 minutes of waiting and reading their newspaper menu a lad ran past with 4 pints of milk and zoomed up the stairs. "Will be with you in a minute" Then another lad appeared and told us to go upstairs and get a table. We picked a table and went to the bar to order our food. No beans No mushy peas No peas No coleslaw No pies Ordered what we could and our drinks. We then waited 15 minutes for one poor lad taking orders on his own and manning the bar. Another kind customer actually handed us our drinks from the bar so she might be able to order a little quicker. While we waited 45 minutes for our food we did enjoy watching the commodity. One lady asked 4 times at the bar for her gravy and curry sauce as her food was getting colder and colder, only to be ignored by our earlier milk man. Another family ordered their food and obviously got so tired of waiting for their drinks that they went behind the bar and poured them themselves. We were then missing part of our order and gravy lady was still being ignored 10 minutes later. I went downstairs to the take away where about 5 people were stood around chatting, i told them what was happening and to come and sort it out. When the food arrived it was luke warm, greasy, small portions and definitely not worth the wait. Definitely not the best fish and chips. The bbc has lied once again. Save your money. Avoid. Or your birthday too, will be left with an underwhelming taste. Cheerio.

Great spot with window views over the harbour. When we attended we were given a table on the 1st floor it it was extremely warm and we opted to leave as I couldn't stand the heat however Levi and Aston opened up the top floor for us when I explained the situation so we had private dining of the top floor..they couldn't have been more accommodating and that's what I call going the extra mile.. With regard to the food Great high standard, good crispy batter not greasy at all and the chips were good home cooked chips . I opted for a small portion but this was more than sufficient and I can eat well...compliments to the chef/fryer who often don't get recognised..keep up the good work 👏

I was here with my friends from Austria and we never had eaten fish before. We are glad that we found this place because the food was amazing. Not only that but the waiters were super friendly as well

We preordered fish and chips (and an array of other bits) for 10 of us this evening and had the best service from Aston! He delt with us on the phone but came out to say hi and its just that extra bit of service that makes a place somewhere you want to return! Michael was really giving his all to serve so many orders too! The food was fab and a really short walk from a lot of air bnbs/guest houses (Normanby terrace, John Street, St Hildas etc) Really recommend as a take out if your staying multiple nights in whitby Sorry for forcing you to take a photo with us Anston! But thanks again for making it a fab experience. Thanks so much!

Excellent fish and chips. We were seated straight away by Lewis and Michael G on the first floor with a view overlooking the harbour. A large cod and chips was really well presented, golden and crispy. A really great place to eat.

Restaurant is not far from the train station and is easy to find, straight away sat down in our seat for a quick service. I think we hit lucky as we were first ones in. However, I can see this place being a bit more busier in peak times. Fast service from both Lewis and Seth, they were brilliant hosts with good table service, we couldn't ask for any more. I would definitely recommend this place.

Levi was excellent and vegan options were great

So, food wise it was a typical fish and chippy, decent with crispy batter. However, the compliments end there. My son, one year old suffered an allergic reaction. My issue is not with that, as allergies are not something that can be controlled, we had no idea he had an allergy. I approached a staff member and asked for a list of ingredients for the food he had eaten as he was suffering from a moderate rash and it was progressing quickly. I told them I was going to the chemist to get an antihistamine but would appreciate the ingredients for future reference to watch for. This never came about and on my return the ‘chef’ was moaning and shouting that I was overreacting! It was absolutely shocking handling of the situation, all I asked was a list of ingredients and I was being slagged off and ranted about as my son had a allergic reaction, to which I no idea would stop at. I was absolutely stunned at that kind of behaviour, I explained that there was absolutely no one can do about allergic reactions especially when we didn’t know he had one but to be ranted and shouted about when he disagreed with my assessment was to another thing. I didn’t mention my occupation; being a qualified paramedic but even so to argue with a parent’s judgment on their child is unbelievable, especially when I was not blaming anyone, just asked for a list of ingredients. So yeah food was alright, but treatment was shocking.

Wanted fish chips and peas,was told 30 min wait for peas. Ordered fish and chips,chips were old and cold and the fish had been there a while. Worst chippy I've been in .

This was the 1st place we came across, in the pouring rain, after an 8 mile walk, that could fit all 8 of us in. Now we know why! It was awful. We were greeted by... nobody... in a creepy hotel kind of way. After a few minutes we were escorted upstairs where neither the atmosphere or the customer service improved. The staff could barely speak a word of English so communication was hard to say the least, and therefore ordering was hard, and therefore we really weren't sure what food was going to arrive. The food that arrived was OK, but the delivery of it was very random and ad-hoc. No full meals came out together. Waitress didn't know what was cod or haddock, or even what was large or small. We sent a couple of meals back including some desserts which were stone cold and rock hard. We mostly laughed it off as "an experience" but absolutely would not return and not recommend.

What has happened to this place ? Scruffy, used, lift not working, toilets at the top of the building. We thought we'd give it chance to redeem itself with the food. The medium Haddock were lovely, however we ordered a small haddock and chips for my grandson. Clearly 'reheated' as fish was brown. My wife did not want to complain, but to be honest it was inedible. Felt very 'palmed off', as if to say lets give them this fish rather than throw it away. Roll on Wendys ..............................................

Don't bother. This place has become Instagram famous but honestly the food is not worth the hype AT ALL. If I'm being kind and generous I'd say the food was below average. If I'm being honest I'd say the food was dreadful. Ordered 2 cod, got 2 haddock with skin on 😒 Chips were brown and tasted of old oil. Calamari was the worst we have ever had. The place is also pretty grim and dirty, and staff completely incompetent, bordering on rude. Should have thrown my £50 down the drain instead. Will not return.

Absolutely would not go here again service is poor the staff struggle with basic English there was 8 if us we all got our fish n chips at different times had to ask for our peas and curry sauce which the staff thought was gravy when it arrived it had a skin on top of it my fish n chips arrived a good 5 minutes after my peas so they was cold . As for the pudding it was stone cold when it came back it had been in the microwave that long that the sponge had gone hard do not go here plenty of better fish n chips shops in Whitby

The food is fantastic, the batter certainly lives up to it's reputation and is very light, not at all greasy. Our waiter Lewis was very friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we wanted. The service was quick but didn't feel rushed. The only thing that let it down was the atmosphere. We were taken to the top floor and it was very quiet, no background music or noise.

Food was good and Lewis was an excellent host. Had the room upstairs to our self for the most part and excellent views of the abbey, thanks.

Takeaway order: Truly terrible, waited 20 minutes for x2 fish & Chips as well as x2 sausage & chips. The Award on the way in from the BBC must be for recognition of how not to cook fish & Chips as it has left me...

Food was passable but the service was basic. It was quiet when we visited and it took a while for the waiter to tell us we had to order at the bar. Noticed the place is very run down and dirty. Enjoyed the view of the harbour out of the window. No one came to check if we required anything during the meal. Area management need to take a good hard look at this place. Blackpool restaurant is much better. Wouldn't return or recommend and was disappointed

45 minute wait for a fish and chips. Waste of time and money. Brought free drinks as an apology still waiting for the food. I will review that once I FINALLY receive it. Overall this was an abysmal experience. I recommend you find a non-chain fish and chips restaurant to eat at. This place is dead.

We went to Papa's fish shop in Whitby yesterday 1/4. (Bank holiday Monday). It was about 6.40 evening time. I ordered my food I was the only person in at this time. They were two young men. One was frying called Ollie I didn't catch the other young man's name. Ollie spilt something thing on the floor and starting swearing (the f word). I said theirs a customer in here(me) Ollie said with a smile 😊 on his face what did you say so I said never mind both lads starting to laugh at each other while Ollie was still swearing (the f word) and trying to mop the floor. While customers were coming in the lad who was serving the customers shouting what wanted frying to Ollie. Ollie was pulling face's cos he had to stop what he was doing but at the same time laughing at each other in front of more customers. So I wasn't happy to here all that swearing and laughing and pulling faces. It was batter😁last year (23) the fish and chips.

This takes the prize for the worst f&c we've ever had anywhere! Way overcooked rubbery (old oil?) chips, overcooked chewy fish (ordered cod - got haddock). If we hadn't paid up-front we'd have walked. Don't believe the hype!

Visited takeaway, Sunday 31st March, evening. If I could rate this zero stars I would! Service was the worst ever experienced in a takeaway! The attitude of the serving staff was like nothing I or anyone in queue had witnessed. Service with absolutely no smile, throwing tongs around, talking to each other like dirt, stretching backwards over food counter to ease his back! Honestly diabolical, people walking out in thier droves! After waiting over 30mins for food (which looked burnt and awful) asked for a refund! Will never go back, but will certainly revisit the experience to others as it is one hell of a story to tell! There was no care, no professionalism, run by kids with 100% bad attitude... Shocking!

Was here a few years ago and it was beautiful, now it's run down, dirty, poorly ran and the food was inedible! I had a prawn salad and the prawns had been microwaved from frozen, resulting in the weirdest texture with no taste! Chips were awful, some cooked some not, tasteless and the cod was not fresh not up to standard, there were a number of items missingfrom the salads. We have eaten in whitby for years and this was by far the worst experience we have had. Photo shows what I left after eating a fork full!

We ate in the restaurant, food was terrible (chips looked like they were cooked last week and reheated), service was extremely slow and it wasn’t even busy. The restaurant itself was cold, which made the rubbish food go cold almost straight away. No atmosphere at all as the place was quiet with no music on. Also you had to pay upfront upon ordering, otherwise we’d have complained and asked for a reduction on our bill. Definitely one to avoid.

The food here is horrible. We started by ordering 3 x gluten free halloumi starters and they decided to serve these all on one plate and asked us to share. We then were served with our gluten free haddock, which i can only describe as...

First time for takeaway, never again… took 20mins the staff were probing the food as they was dishing it up. The place was disgusting sticky floor the counter desk was dirty fingers prints and salt everywhere, the whole place needed a good clean. A member of staff lent over my daughter with a large container full of boiling water to pass over the counter!! They dropped all the chip boxes all over the floor… when I eventually got our meal it was just luke warm, tasteless and after finding 3 long grey hairs in my food. We threw it all in the bin…. May have been a good chip shop but definitely not NOW

How this place has got any positive reviews is beyond me….. anyway… the lad at the desk told that the table was being cleaned and to come back in 30 minutes….. might have been refurbishing the table I don’t know… how can it take that...

Absolutely awful - we had 5 meals . When the first half of the meals came out we were a little put off by the chips which looked refried . The chips were in fact cold on all 5 meals . The gravy , curry...

Very hectic weekend in Whitby. Had a great experience at papas. All staff were working hard and looked to never stop. Brilliant service. Fish was crispy, chips weren’t frozen, and gave that chippy taste. Will be back!

quite honestly the worse fish n chips in Whitby had to wait 20 mins in take out part .The shop was cold and when the chips arrived they were cold as well we told the staff who changed them the second lot were warmer but...

Drove to Whitby to experience ‘the best fish and chips in the country’ …. Wasn’t I bitterly disappointed. We got in the queue and whilst waiting I clocked that some staff didn’t seem to care that it’s busy as they were too busy making jokes between themselves and another one just stands and stares into space whilst he could be helping the other lad dish up the food. After waiting 25 minutes (for a standard fish and chips) we finally got our food and a tub of mushy peas were tossed on the counter - which was absolutely filthy. We rushed outside to try them and … gross. The chips were greasy, like recooked and sat in oil greasy and the fish was disgustingly greasy and tasteless. Now, I appreciate when you go to chippy, you get greasy food. But this was just gross.

Extremely disappointed with our fish and chips and some of the service we received. Having walked from Robin Hood's Bay, we were really looking forward to some Whitby Fish and Chips and chose this place because of because of their claim to have won the BBC Best Fish and Chips. What they fail to say in any place that's obvious is when they won it. It was in 2018 - 6 years ago and they're still living in the reflected glory. Frankly, our meal was only average at best. We wished we'd done our research and checked out the reviews before we went for our walk! Apart from the fish and chips being pretty tasteless, we wanted garden peas with the meal but they were off the menu. I asked for a lemon wedge (also on the menu) but they didn't have any. We consider these to be basics with fish and chips. Giving the order was painful with the lady not understanding what we were asking for. Apart from the items that they didn't have, my husband order a side of bread and butter but that never reached the order and so didn't come. The ketchup was definitely second rate, and the tartar sauce was gloopy and didn't taste very nice. In addition, the restaurant wasn't clean and the floor and table bases were filthy and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. The decor is very 1960's and really needs updating. This place is definitely living on its laurels. The final straw for me was that we were given a QR code when we left and were asked to scan it and leave our review. The QR code was printed on paper and laminated in plastic - why the need for the lamination? The code wouldn't scan and we are now left with a piece of plastic that will either end up in landfill, or the ocean - the latter being the last place that we need any more plastic if we want to eat decent fish and chips. They're effectively destroying the thing that they're making their money from. For all these reasons, we're unable to recommend this place.

Fantastic food, really enjoyed the fish and halloumi was amazing. Friendly service and a ig thank you to our servers Mark and Lekils. Make sure you come and visit. You sit upstairs but the views of the Abbey are well worth it.

Booked a table for 7pm Friday 22nd March. Confirmation email received Thurs 21st. Turned up and it was shut. Not sure for the reason why as didn’t receive any communication to tell us.

Ordered food and the waiter came over to tell us there would b half hour wait because we had ordered pies. After 25 minutes he returned to inform us that one of the lies wouldn't be coming out because the oven had blown up. These where his words. Had a refund on the meal. He brought me a plate of chips so I wouldn't go hungry which I thought was nice. Unfortunately there was a long hair in the middle of the plate of chips. I chose not to eat any more chips. He asked if everything was ok. I told him the service wasn't good and about finding a hair. He said he would check that the kitchen staff where wearing a hair net. The whole experience was bad..... didn't bring sides we had to ask. We gave Papas a second chance because previously the food came out cold and the waitress was rude about our drinks order. The manager apologised and said they would email us a voucher which we never received. I phoned a few times and each time was told they would email a voucher.

Really enjoyed the meal at Papas. Friendly and conversational, staff and really great fish & chips. I had been worried by the haddock-centric menu; but they were happy to serve a "Papas Chip Shop Platter" substituting cod for haddock. The mushy peas and curry sides were really good. Really big portions of fresh, flaky fish... and the cod comes skinned as well as boned. So good! If I'm super-critical I'd say that Magpie chips have the edge, but I don't think the fish or its crispy batter could be bettered. There's a lift up to the restaurant and plenty of space around the tables. I'd be really happy to go back to Papas lots of times in the future, and at the moment, being fairly new in town, we found it quite easy to get a table on a mid-July evening. --- I've been a few times since, and it's never been like the first visit. In the restaurant, the quality is inconsistent, one the chips were mostly hard chippy shavings. One time the batter want properly cooked and parts of the order were missed. They got rid of the spam fritter from the menu. Once I preordered food from the takeaway for opening time, and waited 30 minutes for it to be cooked with barely another person in the shop.

Fantastic meal at Papa’s kicking off our holiday trip. Huge meal at a great price. Lewis was super attentive and helpful, everyone really friendly. Would definitely visit again!

It was ok, not the best chips, but the fish was good. Also, the lift was not working, and we had a disabled person with us who had to climb the stairs to get to the restaurant.

Nice enough place to eat very average but ok probably wouldn't eat here again the service was good our waiter Lewis was very polite and helpful.

Dinesh has a great service, great cost preferment of food, very traditional fish and chips! Provides a very detailed introduction when you are confused！

Our first visit to Papa’s in Whitby. The building is huge and now looking very “battered” round the edges. Cleanliness could be better too. Food was excellent and the service friendly.

Very good fish and chips with decent vegetarian and vegan options. The restaurant has a good view of the harbour and the abbey.

Ravi was our waiter it's definitely a hidden gem , food and beverages was served within 15 minutes and this was dinner time 12:25 when it was quite busy £32 For fish-and-chips twice With mushy peas. and 2 pots of tea.

After a long day of walking around we needed something to eat and thought this would be a great place because of the (faults) advertising . After walking through the door it seemed off so I instantly wanted to leave but pushed through since everyone was hungry. After walking up the never ending stairs we were greeted with a dismal, dirty room. Which was barely supervised and the only person in sight could hardly communicate/ understand us . As we walked up to the bar the lady quickly scurried away. After waiting 5 minutes for someone else to take our order another person showed up to “help”. After being bombarded which millions of questions about our food we were sent back to our table. After a not too bad waiting time we were presented with our food. But no cutlery in sight. After waiting a bit for our cutlery it came . We took one bite of our food and only had one more. Where to start with the chips they tasted old and dried up and the quality of fish was poor and the chicken nuggets and bread was hard as a rock . Overall I would not recommend this place with its poor food and dirty environment. The only good thing I have to say about this place is I was greeted bye a happy looking fish at the exit of the building.

We regularly go to the Cleethorpes and Willerby Papas and absolutely love them. Today Whitby Papas didn't quite live up to our expectations. We were booked in at 3 and ordered our food at 2.58. 30 minutes later the drinks arrived! Another 15 minutes and no sign of the food. We went to the bar (there is no table service) to order another drink and asked how long the food would be, but they had lost the order. 1 hour and 15 minutes later it arrived. The food was lovely but the service wasn't so. I probably wouldn't visit lt again.

Top fish and chips. Lots of options in Whitby so it's hard to pick a place, but this one was great. Ganesh was lovely and super friendly.

Went during a driving course with a group of people. Food and service was great, very friendly. Ganesh and akhil were brilliant, very friendly and polite. Highly recommend.

Lovely experience! Very tasty food and Ganesh on the bar was most helpful! Although we visited on a quiet day, we were made most welcome.

Visited when this first opened and it was very good but sorry to say it has gone hill.It is more like a cafe with no ordering at the table .You now have to queue up at a bar to order .A good 10 minute wait...

This used to be a fantastic restaurant. Unfortunately all the staff seem to have been replaced with seasonal cheap labour. Apparently they have stopped the Homemade pies but they are still on the Menu. The fish and chips no longer have Mushy peas included they are a cost option and the food was a lot greasier than our previous visits. The Cod is still a decent size even if you go small and the batter is lovely and crispy. Shame the chips are scraggy now. They used to be a lot better. The building decor definitely needs updating as it is very tired. Cracked upholstery on the seating and when the wife went to the toilets she mentioned none of the cubicles had locks on them they were all broken..Shame as this was always our go to Fish & Chip restaurant in Whitby. Sadly we won't be going again..

Had a lovely meal here yesterday. I must say the large cod is absolutely huge but delicious! Nice and clean, the staff were friendly and attentive, Seth was lovely and really looked after us. Cannot fault it. Thank you Seth 😊

Lovely food and fantastic service. Loved the curry sauce. Kids meal was excellent. We will be visiting again on our next trip to Whitby.

the fish & chips is amazing. the waiter Mark serves nicely. the cheese is not available in sunday, what a pity. the rest are all good.
